Wp Ring Flash - Nokia Lumia 800

Some one can create an app for the phone ring with the flash of the camera .:fingers-crossed:

Just a other way to say/ask: Is there someone able to modify the WP7.8 Firmware of the Lumia 710 that the Flashlight flashes if there is a notification (Light Alert)? Would be really nice, im also interested

Or if you have a notification, the touch sensitive keys on L800 would glow.
That would be awesome ! Because the flash consumes allot more battery than the button leds.

but is the L800 same as 710? i mean if a dev works on the firmware for 800 it also works the same on 710 firmware?

I have no idea how stuff work an either of these handsets.
On the 710 things would be a little different because the buttons are not capacitive, but physical, and so the light emitted by the buttons is a bit different.
We're just talking now !
probably these stuff are not going to come out in the near future.Because the main problem about the L800 is that there are not that many developers, and almost half of the L800 users have DLOAD bootloader which restrains them from developing or installing custom roms that would allow BLN (BackLightNotification) .
when there will be a way to install QUALCOMM on any L800, there will be some development done on stuff like this.
Cheers !

Another Variant of Niki?

I have a phone here, the Niki touch dual with a qwerty keyboard. The device ID is NEON200 and im unable to to flash it? wrong device ID. There are many differences such as, the stilus is colapsable and goes in the bottom left, the usb is behing a rubber door at the botton of the phone, power button is on the right hand side of the phone, sim card enters a door under the volume button.
very strange, going to have to cook my own rom to get one in there,
for interest its Telstra Australia branded (one of our major phone carriers) and it supports 850MHz and 1200Mhz HSDPA and UMTS !
Dave.
http://www.theunwired.net/?item=approval-bluetooth-sig-approves-the-htc-neon-200-an-indication-for-a-umts-touch
yes thats the one, I have dumped the rom if any one is interested, with the exception of part03
so the variant that telstra is selling can not be flashed with new ROMs unless it is specficially designed for it?
It seems that HardSPL cannot be flashed unless the device ID matches. This makes the ROM flashing difficult if not impossible. Unless a HardSPL flash file could be customised to suit the NEON200 device ID I believe. I may be wrong, I am still new to this.
My advice would be to AVOID all rom's and tools designed specifically for the NIKE and wait until someone finds out more about the NEON

Please dump the SPL:
pmemdump 0x8c000000 0x80000 spl-niki-neon200.bin
(pmemdump is part of itsutils by itsme, run it on PC with a activesync connection)
I will do, Ill get this phone back, its Danoss who owns this phone, see post no #5, here is the rom dump for anyone interested in adding it to their collection 57.8Mb RAR no password at

Hi Jockyw2001, here is the dump you requested, Thanks for your interest!

The SPL dump is okay. If I have some time left I will develop a SSPL and HardSPL for the NEON guys.
I think we need a new forum for NEON.
Different Hardware and same forum will be very confusing..
Like Elf an Vogue..
That might be a good idea, as it seems there is a new package in the same phone (nearly) and im sure it is going to throw off a few when they first start playing with it.
I would third that motion for a new NEON forum.
I support the new NEON Forum
Yes, my neon arrives today. I vote for a seperate forum also. Cut the confusion.
I agree with the new forum too. There are quite a few differences in the specs on these phones compared to the Nike/niki. After lugging around a Hermes for the last 2 years my wife loves this phone. Haven't told her theres no wifi yet.
Update: She knows about the wifi :-(
A few things I have discovered about the phone.
HHC (Htc Home Customiser) Doesn't work correctly. You can install and load it, change the settings but it never completes when you hit the save button.
CE Star Chinese character recognition and keyboard screws up the slide out keyboard functions.

Touchscreen problem

Hi friends.I have a big problem with my hero. Some places doesnt work on touchscreen. But i load custom rom same places work. But this time another places doesnt working. For example (a,s,d,f,g,h,j,k,l) on keyboard with original rom working.but i load sensehero 1.5 or 2.1 this place doesnt work.At this time (c,v,b,n,m,<) doesnt working.I dont understand is this hardware problem or is this software problem???
Sorry for my English
I am using one of the new Eris based 2.1 ROMS (Defiance 2.1). I have noticed that if I lie the phone down flat on a table, parts of the screen do not respond to touch, however held normally in my hand it all works perfectly, so try holding the phone at a different angle etc.
I have seen another post somewhere mentioning the screen not working properly when layed down.
Hi
A hate to be break your heart but i think you will need to return your mobile as its a hardware problem. Been fighting with HTC over it as i live in country where the customer service centre from HTC are not available and now i am stuck with the set.
Best of luck... and let me know if u can find a solution

[Q] HTCSense advantages for HD2?

Hi,
according to following thread I got a question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783961
The HTCSense Service has launched now. My question is, will it work on a HD2? Do you need any updates oder something else?
And my next question is, which of these things are still working on the HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
-> I know, that the loudness control of the ringtone is supported, but which of these things will work too?
And the most important thing which should work is the remote lock ability. Will this be possible on HD2? - still answered by myself!
Has anyone detailed information or maybe tried this service?
I preffer to buy a HD2 because this phone is the most capable for my requirements, and if HTCSense-Service is working too, I will buy it instantly
Greez zyclop
Edit: I have found some Information on the HTCSense.com page itself. Supported devices are currently only Desire HD and Desire Z.
Anyone knows if older devices will supported in future? Because e.g. Desire is the same as Desire Z except the keyboard!
i think its android only.............
Hmm, every device manufacturer sets focus on developing and improve Android or Windows Phone 7 devices. Why do they all forget WM 6.5 which is still not dead. That this will not work on WP 7 is clear, because of the restrictions WP 7 brings by itself. But for Windows Mobile 6.5 it would be possible to implement, maybe there is any equivalent solution to manage data and security via web-frontend?!
There is still another question unanswered:
Which of these features work with HD2?
http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I passed my question about support of older/further devices to HTC, I'll post their reply as soon as I got answer.
Edit:
Microsoft My Phone is doing exactly the same what HTCSense.com provides. But it would be very great if I can synchronize my stuff witch HTC, and re-synchronize it with another phone, maybe an Android device in future. Or a Windows Phone 7 device... today I don't know which device will be my next. So therefor this would be very great.
Has anyone ever tried Microsoft My Phone or any other service to save phone data and lock phone if it gets lost/stolen?

I use microsoft my phone whenever I have to hard reset and it has always been very reliable......... basic but reliable........
The whole point of the htc sense web side of things is just to try and tempt people into moving to a htc device........
Although 6.5 might not be "dead" as far as xda is concerned, htc however probably do not really care about 6.5 anymore, there certainly will not be anymore 6.5 handsets released.......
Anything that can be acheived through sense.com can already be acheived through 3rd party app already available for 6.5.......
Okay, you think, the HD2 is the best choice if I want to have a WM6.5 device? Or should I wait for newer devices? Or will there never be new devices? I really don't like any other OS than WM, because it has many advantages, I guess more than any other OS.
Back to topic:
I even read the page from HTC again and there are only 4 points important to me. So which are working with HD2, too?
1. "Ever fumbled with your phone because it went off at full-blast during a meeting? Well, don’t worry! Now as soon as you lift your phone up to see who’s calling, the ringer volume gets lower. Want it silenced completely? Just flip it over."
2. "When you don’t want to miss that special call, your phone knows when and how to get your attention. For example, if it’s tucked away in your bag it will know to ring louder."
3. "Now when you look to see who’s calling, you get to see their latest social status updates or if they have a birthday coming up. The conversation starts before you say hello!"
4. "Don’t worry about missing the next turn when a call comes in. Your map stays on screen while a call bar gently slides its way into view."
All points can be found on http://www.htc.com/uk/htcsense/index.html
I'm not sure, but I think point 1 and 2 are working - are they? A few months ago I got a HD2 from my company. But I weren't able to check all of the stuff... Now I changed the company and don't have a HD2 anymore. I really want to have it to detach my XPERIA X1.
I dont think any new 6.5 devices will be released so yeah the HHD2 is definetely your best bet.........
1 + 2 are working.....
3 doesnt Im afraid.....
I dont know about 4 as I dont use my my phone for navigation, not yet anyway....
I use my phone as navi only in foreign cars, because my own car has a built in navi
Maybe anyone knows whether this is working or not.
Do you know which version of Sens/Manila is installed on latest HD2 stock rom? And is there any page or wiki, where I can see all the features of this version?

[Q] Bug in audio drivers? (FW 12070)

Hello,
I found that there is a bug in the audio drivers. At least, I suspect it to be in the audio drivers. I'm on Firmware 1600.2487.8107.12070 and OS 7.10.8107.79
When I'm listening to music and texting (it hasn't happened when doing something else) the phone sometimes completely locks up. Music playback stops, and the only thing I can do, is restarting it. Then, sometimes text messages get lost... This is frustrating as it happens more and more. It doesn't happen when I'm not listening to music, so I suspect it to be a audio driver problem, because I'm texting all day long.
Someone else who experiences this?
MadMatt
I have experienced this once. But I don't remember if I was sending messeage, or something else, but it happen while playing music (It was frozen - lcd was displaying same thing, and only soft reset helped)
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've been getting this problem for the past few days. It happens to me when I'm listening to music while texting, reading PDF files, browsing the internet, etc. Basically when I'm listening to music while in another program.

Those are all heavy tasks. This might indicate an out of memory problem. NOKIA, are you listening? I hope this will be fixed soon, as it's very annoying.
It seems like a lot of new roms with the new 12120 firmware have hit the nokia firmware repositories. No official release notes are available at the moment but I think it is a save bet that the audio bug has been fixed since there is a lot to find about this bug at the official Nokia community forum. It will (based on the version number, 8773) also contain windows phone tango (Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh) and bring support for Internet Sharing (strong remour).
If you can't wait you could always try the new firmware by downloading with Navifirm+ and then flash it with Nokia Care Suite. There is a lot of info about this subject at this forum, not hard to find. Please not that you will loose all info on your phone (except from what is stored in the cloud such as your contact list) because your phone is erased. If you don't want this, please wait for the update to be rolled out through Zune, that way you will keep all data.
Based on history, the Zune update will start to roll out in a week or two. Zune updates are processed in stages, phones belonging to the latest stage will (again based on history) receive the zune update in a month or two.
Good luck.

Where do you see those ROMs for the Lumia 800? Latest Firmware I can see on NaviFirm+ is 12070 :-(
I've had twice that my phone hanged while making a call. But my phone didn't have any heavy task to do or play any music.
In both cases the phone had been on for several days without use (in flight mode, it's my second phone besides a Galaxy Note) and it was the first call after deactivating flight mode. The phone freezes at the moment of connecting and only rebooting by pressing the on/off button for a very long time solves the problem.

My bad, I see that firmware is actually for the Lumia 800C (RM-802), which is the Chinese version. Yesterday there were only 2 versions of 12120 available for the Lumia 710 (RM-80) and now there are 7 more though. So I think it will hit the Lumia 800 (RM-801) very soon.
I can confirm not just that but that there are also performance bugs in the audio driver. The 710 is capable of 10ms less audio latency than the 800. (30 ms vs 40 ms) tested with silverlight audio Apis on 16 bit 44.1 mono wav files.
Which is quite weird, I have not tested this on the previous firmware version, just on the latest. So they screwed up something. You would expect them both to perform equal, a difference of 10ms is just a lot...
Its by no way a scientific conclusion, its just a conclusion from practical use (testing low latency audio app).

I'll wait untill the CAB file leaks, I don't like losing all my data. Thanks for the information.

It is however weird indeed. They really messed up the audio drivers... We have the volume bug and the phone completely freezing... What's next?
Anyone tried playing music with headphones, ringer on, and someone calls you?
The playback volume of your ringtone will jump a notch for 2 secs before it returned back to your normal volume.
Be careful when you try this! Dun damage your ears.

Yes, this is another bug in the audio. There are (at least) two bugs in there.
I had another weird bug today.
Was playing music with headset on, and navigating with the gMap Pro. As you can imagine, the phone gets a bit hot with all that processing. Just then I decided to make a call and unplug the ear phones.
I managed to make the call but the ear piece is very soft despite volume at max 10. So thinking its a call issue, I ended the call and retried. Same problem. Rebooted the phone this time and tried. No go...
After like 20mins, I tried again and this time it works loud and clear. I'm thinking if the speaker somehow couldn't output in correct volume when it's hot?

Yeah indeed.
I thought I was the only one, but my IE9 keeps crashing constantly and the Phone freezes up a lot. The 710 does not do this (as far as I could test it)…
Nor did the Omnia7 ever do this.
The video drivers are bad (stuttery video) and now I could measure the audio performance (and having 25% more latency), touch screen jittering etc. I really wonder why they messed up on the 800 but did fine on the 710. The 800 is the flagship in Europe why is it not being prioritized?
Anyway there are enough rumours of a new update coming up so hopefully that one will not just deal with the camera but also update the video, audio and radio drivers (to reduce rapid battery drains on bad 3G signal).
Its an amazingly nice device, sadly has quite some bugs its like we are the beta testers for the 900 actually .
Same thing here. Lumia 800 locks up while playing music in Zune. Doesn't happen often but still annoying. I think Microsoft beleives this happens only on HTC devices according to their forums but it doesn't.

[Q] Switch off charging LED

I'm very keen to get rid of the charging LED. (I don't want any LED at any time, but everything except charging can of course be switched off under Settings).
I've tried several apps, but all either require root or simply don't work.
My phone is not rooted and I don't want to root.
Does anyone know of any of the many LED-killing apps that actually work on the Ultra, without root? Many thanks.
I do not think such hardware function can be controlled without root access.
I've had to resoprt to sticking a tiny piece of gaffer tape over the LED!! Moreover I don't expect it to last more than a day.
Surely there must be a more elegant solution than that? Anyone ... ?

never going to happen on an unrooted device - the only way that this is possable is either a modified driver or seeing if there is a sys/ interface for the LED while on charge
Thanks. I'm fairly new to rooting, so please forgive if this is a naive question; but is it possible to get root access on the device in order to fix the LED issue (and also boost the appalling sound) and yet continue to run the stock ROM and go on receiving official Sony over-the-air updates?

Yes running with root will allow you to edit the mixer path xml file to get better sound, and you can still run 'Stock' just fine. OTAs may or may not work, seems to be about 70/30. It just depends what files the OTA script looks at.
