Hey,
what i would like to ask is if someone ever checked the real difference in stock roms csc.
i know that the bloatware can differ. But is there any other difference, if i flash german or dutch firmware.
for example:
- Do i get better internet speed?
- Better network connection?
other things?

YES .
Different countries .

Technically no you are usually best with the right modem and csc for your network location .
A modem from another area may give better connection or not .
A CSC from another area will not have your network settings in it so may not find or optimize your network settings .
Saying that i delete the CSC from my phone and enter network settings manually anyway .

Hi all,
Please forgive me if this seems like a dumb question but... Can I flash the Bell I9100M CSC onto my unlocked International I9100 AND what are the subsequent consequences (ie: will it wipe my device, etc)?
Allow me to explain... I live in Canada and am on the Rogers Network and I bought the International I9100 from a store here in Edmonton LOOOONG before the I9100M was available here. I am all rooted up, running the CheckRom RevoHD v4 firmware which I LOVE but I have noticed lately that my Internet connection is quite slow and some apps are very laggy to start, etc and I cant figure out why. *NOTE* I did not have this same problem on other Custom ROMS such as SensatioN, Lite'ning, Criskelo, etc and the only other thing I have done as of late is place an Aluminum Bumper case on the device.
I have also recently flashed the KH3 modem which I believe is the modem that was STOCK on my device when I purchased it (I have flashed so much since then I dont remember) and I also see in the BELL thread that KH3 is giving the best performance here in Canada but that didnt seem to really solve anything so I am wondering if flashing the Bell I9100M CSC to my device will be COMPATIBLE #1 (with my device AND my CheckRom ROM) and will improve my performance #2?
If anyone has any ideas, please advise...
Thanks,
You can flash any CSC as its only a few text and XML files .Not actually required to make the phone work as all it is is local network connections and the APN details etc .
example
CSCEdition>ED003</CSCEdition> <Country>UK</Country> <SalesCode>O2U</SalesCode> <NbNetworkInfo>2</NbNetworkInfo> -<NetworkInfo> <MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC> <NetworkName>O2 UK Pay Monthly</NetworkName> </NetworkInfo> -<NetworkInfo> <MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC>

No, CSC is *just* APN settings and some bundles apps, it will not help.
Make sure you have the right APN for your network (google it, or use one of the app in the market)
As far as improving your mobile net, trying different modems is the way to go, as they are really the only part that effects data speed/signal/etc.
Hi,
I have searched around and been on this forum for some time in a lurking capacity! Feels good to have enough knowledge to start posting, and helping out if I can.
Though I come with a question:
I am on RR2.1 and T-mobile UK carrier. When searching for networks and services, it returns only Orange. To my knowledge there should be T-mobile, T-mobile Orange and Orange/Vodafone. Is there anyway to resolve the miss labelling of carriers when I search for them?
Everything works great on the rom, except this issue... Part of me thinks my signal is affect also, potentially a related problem.
Thanks for any help and advice.
Matt.
Might be wrong CSC or not a CSC that covers your carrier .
Check your CSC and see if a later one in stock roms thread .

+1 Normally it's on the CSC. YOu might want to reflash again and do full wipe.
I've reflashed after a full wipe and still have the same issue. It only lists orange carriers as orange, not T-mobile orange, T-mobile etc...
Is there a way I can flash a relevant CSC file, through CWM for example like I would with a new modem?
Hi
i am using different custom rom in s 3. some roms like Foxhod and dragon rebirth give options of selecting CSC. i am from Pakistan but usually
CSC is of differnt country. is it really necessary to select CSC of my country?
if yes then what is its significance and what ll happen if i keep the same CSC of custom rom?

Not really necessary afaik , it says samsung (the phone) what country you are in to get specific samsung software/apps for that country.

CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.

There was some confusion over what a CSC Code is and what happens to it when you flash a ROM.
CSC is the Consumer Software Customization and is specific to geographical region and carriers.
It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support.
CSC does not affect what firmware you can flash and is frankly irrelevant half the time.
What Happens to your CSC when you flash a ROM?
If you flash a custom ROM (like HyperGalaxy) you will not be able to see your CSC code.
If you flash your nations Stock Firmware (like UK Stock ROM or US Cellular) you will get the default CSC Code used for the entire nations unbranded phones.
If you flash your nations carrier-branded Stock Firmware (Like T-Mobile UK or T-Mobile US) you will get the carrier specific CSC Code which can identify what ROM you are using.
If you have a branded phone, I recommend using your nation's unbranded counterpart to insure your stock has the most flexibility in terms of updates, then use TriangleAway to hide your flashes. THIS WILL VOID YOUR CARRIER WARRANTY BUT NOT YOUR SAMSUNG WARRANTY.
You can find your CSC Code by dialing: *#1234#
I hope this clarifies things for people.
One thing I have not been able to work out from searching is if the CSC will have any impact on the battery due to settings like Fast Dormancy?
Living and working in Germany I got my GS3 here and despite being shop bought unbranded it installs a load of German applications every time I have an update (Bild etc) and I got sick of disabling and deleting them each time. I flashed an older BTU firmware and then used Kies to update to the latest BTU (4.1.2) which has worked out fine, but I cant help feeling the battery life has diminished from this.
I've been flashing Android phones since the Galaxy S but believe certain things like the fast dormancy are newer and this leaves me wondering if the CSC now has more of an impact per region..
Any info please?

It could have something to do with the RIL (Radio Interface Layer)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zaWJib3IuZ2V0cmlsIl0.
Try that and install a matching RIL.

Huh, that shows me a mismatch. RIL is not something I am familiar with (and I try!) so this is interesting. I'm also very surprised Kies did not update the entire thing.
So I better look into what RIL entails overall. And consider that thanks button pressed.
