It's probably screwed up, from what I have read, flashing an ICS bootloader may help.

AW: S2 serial number question important!
I flashed 4.0.3 but serial is still the same. Can someone look Hm his s2 under info status if the serial is shown like on the sticker? I repeat i do not mean the imei!

Mine's always been different in phone settings compared to what's on the sticker under the battery. Doesn't matter what firmware I've been using. I guess the point is, so what ? Means nothing. Having blah blah blah for a serial number in settings doesn't affect anything. Doesn't affect the phone one iota.
You're (attempting to) make a mountain over a (very small) molehill.
Whether it's a bootloader issue or not (no idea, tho I'm still running the 'old' bootloader), you're only going to know that if you're running the 'old' bootloader currently & you flash the 'new' bootloader. And before you ask, search. Bootloaders have been done to death on here, there is already a wealth of information (and links to download them; download size is smaller than a kernel) about bootloaders on here, I'm not adding to that resource in this thread.

There was a bug on some 4.0.3 ROMS that showed the serial number wrong. Just flash the latest Jelly Bean, don't worry your serial number is not gone.

I have the same thing. When I updated to 4.0.4 my sn shows 00000000.. now im in latest 4.1.2 with different sn.. its not like under battery. But phone is working good. I tried to flash ics bootloader and 4.0.3 but couldnt fix it.

Galaxy S2 GT9100 ICS 4.0.4 serial number BUG

Hi
I noticed last night that my serial number in phone shows just 000000000 and not serial number.
I contacted Samsung and they said that is a bug in 4.0.4 so if you guys see this dont panic
its only a bug.
If you return to the 4.0.3 ICS the serial will appear again but who will? hahahah
Just sharing the info...
Yes I've noticed that and tried to go back to 4.0.3 => serial number appeared again

Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is of any help but I was getting "unknown" serial number on cm9, I searched around for a fix cause it was giving me problems connecting to my home wifi, I found out that flashing the ICS bootloader through ODIN fixed it, I'm still on CM9, I can see my serial number and my wifi connects, I hope this is of some help.

Play store movies not available

Hi all,
I'm trying to rent or buy movies in play store. I click the price and in the pop-up window it says: The article you bought is not available where your are (it is originally in German). I cannot go on to pay.
I have a S2g with latest German firmware (rootet). Problem is that it works perfectly fine for my wife, who has exactly the same phone+firmware and is in the same network.
Any idea why I cannot access the movies?
Thanks in advance.

The one you provided is the baseband version not CSC code. CSC code is not presented by the way you posted,, :silly:
It is only 3 capital letters. Most likely your wife phone has different CSC code
That's what I get when doing *#1234# and it says CSC in the last line.
I tried *#272*imei# but it says no connection or wrong mmi code?
I do not seem to get the 3 letter CSC code. Any suggestions, how to find out? Or is it the DBT after 9100G in the last line of the screenshot? Cause that is supposed to be for Germany right? If that is the CSC then it is the same for both phones.

No, DBT after 9100G is not necessary your actual running CSC code (i.e, you could have German ROM but with UK CSC code..!!). OK try to go to Google play and grip any csc code changer and see (don't change csc code, just know what is running since changing will wipe everything)
com.android.Preconfig not found on your device. Manual mode shows again connection error or missing mmi.
Based on CSC tool from Manniakk.

Have you installed any custom ROM?
and if so, which ROM you were on just before flashing the custom ROM?
and is it the same for the other phone?
Both phones run on latest German stock Rom. No custom rom ever. My phone is rooted. My wife's phone not. That is the only difference I can think of.
FYI, I also tried to get the CSC for my wife's phone with *#272*ime*#. did also not work.

CSC code is a part of cache.img which I do think it was not flashed on your phone.. In my country if I go to google play, there is no part for video buying or renting, neither the books!! changing csc code helped me to get them on google play. You can download the whole stock rom and flash it again, so you can have access to csc codes; but we will leave this as our last choice.
Try this NOW:
Download any VPN program from google play (e.g, Hotspot Shield) and clear google play cache and data, then open Hotspot Shield and connect it, then once connected, open google play.
Technically I do believe this might help as well, since changing VPN = changing CSC code for internet connection only.
Try and give me the feedback.
Thanks a lot for your help! I appreciate it!
Tried what you suggested. No success unfortunately. I fear that this leaves me with either no movies or reflash.

Wowowwowow, I got it. It was the most stupid thing ever. I tried to get a movie again via the Browser on a PC. It said that my payment method is not valid although the proper Credit card information was available. For whatever reason, the payment with that credit card was grey and could not be selected. Via the browser, however, it is possible to add another payment method. I added the same credit card and ... tadadadada, it works. also on the phone.
Thanks for all your help, and I hope that this thread might help one or the other with a similar problem.
Cheers

[Help] Not registered on network

Guys I just flashed a firmware 4.1.2on my device (not of my country) Now the problem is am getting the error not registered on network.I have checked my IMEI and also my serial number both are OK.But I am not sure why I am still getting the problem ? My guess is that I should have flashed my country firmware rather than European country firmware because in my country we still use 2g networks.Guys I need opinion please help
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Sounds like you flashed a modem that's incompatible with your network/country, either flash the right firmware or just modem. I'd suggest you read the guides in general forum, sticky thread -efs 'know this stuff', otherwise you may end up with imei problems.

Yes I also think that way...But the problem is when I flash a baseband compatible with my region the ril goes missing... Plus I need to know where is the sticky thread ? And I want to know is there any difference b/w modem flashing and baseband ?

If your baseband null to efs v2 then you flashed zuluman patch and kernel your network will done

[Q] hardware micro coding of IMei

Hello all,
Do someone can tell me if the micro coding (hardware or ROM) of IMEI is something recent, or if the latest ANdroid version use something that existed yet in 2012 ?
Thank you
Own a I9300 oct 2012 ....

Thank you.
Does it mean that if I change from 4.1.1 to 4.2 (or 4.3 , anything using EMG4 possible with the I9300) that will give a chance to the proper EFS to be written , or is it out of question IYO ?
Loss of IMEI while trying to repair the phone that lost wifi then soft bricked some time later. of course I have all SN at hand.
If my IMEI is somewhere "hard coded" it is worth for me to try things but if not I will need the help from some repair shop.
Best regards
Isaac

UMI Z: incorrect serial number.

Hi, I have a problem with my "UMI Z". The serial number is displayed as "0123456789abcdef." I want to restore the correct number, but he is not on the original box (there is only a 13-digit bar code). The same problem I had with restoring IMEI, but these are printed on the label. Help please.
Not sure if it's possible and it doesn't hurt to have that serial number

Used a barcode scanner. The number of the barcodes on the box are written underneath

You can edit edit build prop?
However my UMI Z serial number as reported by the phone does not seem to match any of the barcode numbers on the box

That won't be a permanent solution we need to have something similar to imei writer ¥(which exist in system)
Also the serial number isn't stored in build.prop
It's more likely in nvram similar to imei http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58f4650f48c46/Screenshot_20170417-084704.png?
But in order to know where we must dig in the phone.
Here's a little bit of the imei writer code invoke-interface {v0, v2, p0}, Lcom/android/internal/agui/NvRAMAgent;->writeFile(I[B)I
Where of i don't know what file it writer to
