So, i really want my ringer on all the time, i usually don't get many calls but the ones i get are important. So is there a way to set all other notifications (text, email, ect) to vibrate while its still in the sound profile so my phone still rings?

I wanted the same thing. I think the best way to do it is using an app called Smart Profiles. I haven't actually tried it yet though.

Can't you do this natively?
By going into Settings>sound>volumes and setting ringtone to max and everything else to silent (slider all the way to the left should be silent), and make sure Ringtone with vibration is checked in the sound settings as well?
It should make calls full volume (with vibration) and everything else on vibrate only.
Or am I mistaken/not understanding the request?

Good call. I was thinking he wanted this profile only at certain times, but that's not stated in the OP, just my assumption.

Since I rooted my notifications automatically set to silent whenever and i can no longer set the fonts. Anyone else? Any idea how to fix?

Turn the volume up and you can not use fonts with lag fix.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Volume isn't the issue. The phone will reset my notifications. I'll set a sound and a fwe hours later they are all set to silent. Only the ringer and alerts stick
Perhaps it's an app like Timeriffic that's causing it. Check your apps that could possible change the settings, if not, then you could always just make everything stock and do it over again.

Anyone else get this? Randomly I just checked and all my volumes were maxed out and I didn't touch anything lol...I do notice that system volume maxes out by itself even when I lower it..I'm using sound manager as my volume app btw

Maybe you should post this in the Nexus forums! J/k. Nope I haven't any issues w/ the volume changing on its own.
Lol I must just be nuts...maybe I did accidentally adjust it and didn't realize it...either way, atleast it got louder and didn't go to zero like some phones...haha

Nope, you're not nuts. I use AudioManager and after silencing system volume, it will restore to the loudest setting on its own. However, I haven't noticed it with any of the other volumes.

Or I'm wondering if system volume doesn't do anything on this phone...maybe they got rid of system volume so it just defaults to max. It hasn't effected any of my volumes yet...I don't notice any noise to be maxed out

Nah man,"ghost in the machine" it's not satisfied just with the Nexus.
I posted about this a couple days after I got my phone. I didn't know if we had sound profiles in Sense I was unaware of or something. I since haven't had the issue, so I don't know WTF was up. Maybe the volume rocker is active even when the screen is off and my pocket pushed it?
I noticed mine sometimes is lower then what I set it at. But I wouldnt doubt it being accidently pushed!!
Btw,I may not have experienced the volume issue, but the Google search screen pops up regularly and this wifi screen pops up occasionally also even though I always leave wifi disabled.
No phone!!!... Bad!!!
Is it the one to notify you WiFi is available when you open an app? You can disable that in WiFi settings.
Curious if anyone else has noticed this / knows how to "fix" it.
When I have my headphones plugged in, the notification sounds (eg the default new message "whistle") comes out the speaker instead. The sound in the headphone (music) will mute during this. I've had to resort to turning the notification volume off during work hours, so the sound doesn't disturb others at work - surely these sounds should be coming through headphones while they are plugged in?
Hello,
I'm with the same issue! It's very odd...
Any thoughts about this? Btw, I'm not using stock headset (I'm not used to in-ear headphones).
Yeah add another +1 to this....!!!
Not tried with stock headphones I have a set of Bluetooth ones and I get all notifications through them .
I'll take look in settings .

Actually I double check again, theres a "notification" sound going through headset. the only problem is it's playing simultaneously with the phone speaker. Really annoying specially if I'm in the office cause others can hear the notification sound too.
An android bug, apparently

This is a long-standing Android bug that manifests on many, though not all, phones. Google for "android notification sounds headphones" and you find many complaints about it, and a Google bug report with comments going back to 2010.
There is a apparently an easy way to patch it if your phone is rooted (though I cannot find info on exactly HOW) and there is a script here on XDA for use with the Tasker app ($6 or so in the Playstore) that can address it.
Other than that, the only thing to do to minimize annoyance to your coworkers is turn notification sounds to silent when using headphones. There are volume profile apps that can do this automatically.
In this bug report https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=6696 and this one https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16667 it said that's a problem with ICS, that is supposed to be fixed in JB and that CM have their own fix for this.
Let's hope that S3 JB release will fix it.
this problem has been bugging me too..hope its fixed in the next update.

Hi guys,
I'm having a weird bug with SMS notifications on my S3, when I get a text it will cut short or sometimes not even play the notification sound. I've tried various tones, restarting the phone, changing the settings off - reboot - turn setting back on, but nothing is sorting it... Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?
Thanks,
J
Same problem here, its totally random.
I've noticed this myself a few times as well.
I had it, I changed to a different notification sound and that fixed it. Not sure if you can go back after? Whistle annoyed me so didn't try.

Do you keep your phone screen down on a table, there's a motion settings to mute ringtones if the phone is placed screen down on a table.

I looked through all the settings and didn't see where this is.... when people call me it says "such and such calling" Any way to disable this? Or anyone know if I enabled it somehow?!>!

If I'm not mistaken, but you could have something turned on under accessibility menu.

If u uncheck this it will not read the name of the caller out loud. Hope this helps since no one seemed to know the answer.

I actually just posted a thread similar to this. I found out you can turn it off but you have to turn off voice control as well. The thing is I like to sometime answer calls with voice control because my hands are busy or in the shower or whatever...
With my previous phones(S4, Note 2), I could turn the caller ID voice prompt off independently and still have the voice control feature. But with the S5, it's both or nothing. I'm hoping I missed something but I've looked and looked...
But if you don't need both features, you can turn both off together but not one or the other(call settings > answering and ending calls > voice control).
