[Q] OTA Update? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I was just going about my business today and noticed my phone rebooted. When it came back up there was a message saying "updating android" that lasted about 20 seconds. I am running the JB version that Vz pushed at Xmas. I have not noticed a version change still 4.1.2. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen. The only thing I noticed was 2 of the GPS apps I have were removed from the main screen (but they were not uninstalled...so I put them back)

Ya think? If it isn't, it's the best first post ever.
Actually, it sounds like his phone might just have hiccuped.

Over on the DINC2 board, they're still waiting for the update that's supposed to be coming tomorrow.

Your phone was just updating system apps. It either didn't update all the way when you updated to JB or you moved a file to system/app.

Whoa! Sense UI is freaking out

I flashed the ROM to my wife's phone and it was running fine up until today. Now it switches screens on its own (only to the left). I was thinking it could have been an app she downloaded but she said she hasn't downloaded any new ones in two days. It's only Sense UI that does it. She force stopped it, cleared defaults and is using Home. Now it's not happening.
Any ideas? She has it with her at work so we can't really mess with it right now but I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues.

Re: Whoa! Sense UI is freaking out after Ivan's 0.8t2
Update to version 1a. its solid. It is the last link in his original post.
If you used the Ema program, your not on 1a (latest version)

Its a problem with the usb port and the magnents in the trackball. It will start by scrolling to the left only when plugged in but after more time it will constantly do it even if its not plugged in. My wife and I had the same problems and they sent us 2 new phones the next day.
Visit a Verizon Tech store or call them up.
Ok... I wasn't sure if it was hardware or software. She said it's been fine all day, but she hasn't charged it. Looks like I'll be downgrading back to stock and exchanging it if I can.
*I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. It's running Ivans 1.0. I just called Verizon though, when she's here with the phone we're going to go over some trouble shooting and hopefully they'll send over a new one.
Yea, I took both of our phones in along with the usb cord and showed them what was going on, no questions asked they replaced our phones with the v3 leak. Now I have root and loving it also.
Good luck you shouldnt have any problems getting new ones.

What did i just update?

So i notice i had an update, i figured it was the Adfree app since its constantly being upated so i go ahead and click it. Next thing i know, the screen goes black and says downloading and installing system update. (it didn't look like any of the HTC updates which promps you to choose between wifi) At this point i was like wth is being updated since it gave no log or any details about what the update does, i try to pull the battery but the update finishes before i could remove it. Now i have no idea what just got updated Has anyone gotten an update like that? If so, any ideas what it does?

How would anyone here know unless they were looking over your shoulder ? Just go to settings-about phone-software info. If it says 2.08.621.3, it was the HTC Sprint update. I don't know if the GSM update has a different version, but you can probably find out what the update for that is as well.
I had that too, i had quickly clicked cancel though, dunno what's up
I'm running 2.08.651.2
I just received the same update but no clue on what was updated

I have 2.08.621.3. It didn't look like any previous update since no change log or any details about what was being update was shown. It was just a black screen and nothing else, didn't give me an option to cancel either.

Wired. I'm on .3 here and just did a manual check and got nothing. Not typical for updates to push out to start this late though either.
Checked HTC hub too and nothing.

I found the auto update box checked for htc. I unchecked it, curious if it happens again.
I got the update too but I cancelled it before it installed
I just did a nand restore of a rom based off Zone's that is using bcblends kernel. I let the phone sit for about five minutes after it booted, then checked it and it said "service update complete" in a bubble over my homescreen. My build is still 2.08.651.2.
Yeah everything seems the same at the moment and like others have said it wasn't a typical update it never asked if I wanted to update or not the screen went black and a box appeared and said system update then 3 minutes later said update complete and nothing else after that no change log or anything

Same thing with me. My phone was sitting on the counter after I got off a call. 2 hours later I pick it up and it says update complete. I'm on ViperRom and haven't noticed anything wacky going on so far.
Dying to know what this is about. The only reason I knew is my sister texted me telling me her phone updated (same phone). I told her that was weird and she shouldn't have accepted. Then a moment later mine tried to and I canceled. Ugh. I hate not having explanations.

Add one to the auto update. Running Warm, auto update unchecked as always, was on a call with screen off and when I hung up had the popup saying update will now be applied. Still have root so no worries.

[Q] OTA Update Fail.

I got my Rezound last week and I'm loving it. Right now I'm running stock, however i will be rooting in the foreseeable future. However i noticed a couple of times when i had to Restart my phone that the recent OTA update would DL only to fail to install. I don't want the update as i've heard and seen it reduces battery life. Should i worry my phone is defective? a couple of more days so i can return it and get another one. Would that be wise? thoughts?
You haven't done anything to it? If you haven't just take it to the Verizon store and have them look at it. If they can't get the update on exchange it. There's no reason why it shouldn't accept the update if you haven't done anything afaik.

I've not done anything, still running full stock. That's what i was thinking, i don't want this to come back and bite me in the ass. Plus i still have the 14 days to bring it directly to verizon. thanks
I am exeriencing the same thing...happened several times; firmware downloads and nothing happens. I reboot and nothin. The phone is stock. The last time after rebooting, it showed a push air thing in the notificication, and when I clicked it nothin happened...oy.
When I check the status, it just shows a rescent date along with the description of the update...and nothing happens when I click check new.
I sorta want the update so I can get rid of the headphone jack noise...and I feel like if I go to a verizon store, not much will be accomplished...hmmmmm

I went to Verizon today and the guy was able to update my phone. I actually didn't want to but eh. I told him what he did and all he told me was "Check Update" and plug it in the to the charger *which is the way my phone had been when i tried updating* and it began to install.
Hmm still nothing happens when I click check new, tried with it charging and unplugged... Might pop into a store later and see what's up, phone keeps freezing on meh! Have any negative experiences from the update so far? I'm weary of that verizon agent thing running all the time

I had the same issue with the "check new" screen just disappearing when I was completely stock. I called verizon a couple days ago and they checked to make sure that I had tried to update with 4G, 3G, 4G w/ wireless, 3G w/ wireless. I had also tried doing a factory reset and pulling the SIM and battery out for 20 minutes. If all those dont work for you, they say you can either get a "certified like new" phone shipped to you or you can get on a 3way call with htc and verizon support to get the issue resolved. You might want to try those things and if still nothing I would call.

New Update - VS99024A?

Just wondering if anyone has any info, as I'm not seeing anything online. Just got prompted this AM to install.
Installed it as well. Absolutely zero info found so far about it
Not even 6.0.1 so it is pretty minimal
Just installed it this morning; in HIGH HOPES they fixed the distorted audio on bluetooth issue.
ISSUE NOT FIXED.

Claims to be security patch. Probably blocking dirty cow exploits...
Hey all I'm the one who posted the first screenshot of this builds update. Unfortunately there seems to be only the security patches updated so i wont be surprised if the only thing they did was break dirty cow...

Try a master reset. I'm doing good after the update now.
I'm having issues with this stupid phone! Miss my rooted HTC One Max. So I've called Verizon because my phone keeps trying to update daily and I was told to do a factory reset and then upgrade. This is the silliest thing I have ever heard. Has anybody else had to do this to take a "minor" upgrade? Not to mention it kills the battery downloading the file everyday over 4G! I get an error message after the phone downloads the update, reboots to install the update, reboots again, and wham-o error message!
my phone was running hot and really burning battery fast after update. I froze dtignite program and it seems to have calmed down.

Mine did the same thing. I found a program - DT Ignite - that was sucking up the battery. I disabled it and things went back to normal. I have Verizon . . . . worth a try before resetting.
This is the last time I am taking an update from Verizon. Battery usage really sucks now. 3g and 4g Data switching is terrible. It leaves me on a crap 4g signal and will not switch over to 3g. Been getting constant phone cut outs where the other person can't hear me until I move around and do the "Can you hear me now" crap. Phone was great in the beginning but is now a piece of ####!

That's what happened to my Note 4. I think Verizon is sabotaging phones to prompt new purchases. At first they told me tough **** on my Note 4. buy a new phone. When I said I wouldn't be renewing my contract, they changed their tune and gave me my V10 as replacement.
is anyone else having an issue with the phone freezing and then restarting?? mine is doing that like every 5 min... i did the update this morning as well
No issues here
My*Verizon V10 was pretty good until the update, then is froze and resets all the time. Finally had to replace it with a replacement but they give me the V20. Will let you know how this goes

Note 8 still hasn't received Oreo update

This seems way passed overdue. I've tried manually updating with no luck. Has anyone else been experiencing the same issue?
Same here, smartswitch and ota see nothing. Gonna probably need to use odin to get it done.

Yeah I've tried manually updating. This seems ridiculous that I still haven't received the update; and I'd prefer not to root the phone...
Yes. No update for me either. I heard it's possible the date your imei was activated could impact your update. I activated mine on Feb 14th.
Same. No update. I usually do all updates for apps and system manually. Still nothing...

Temporarly on Hold.
T-Mobile stopped the OTA Oreo update right now for Note 8. This is due to problems with this update. Samsung and Google are working on a fix. Once they fixed the problems then they will resume OTA Oreo update for the Note 8.
I posted this in another thread days ago. If you have questions or you feel there is no problem, since you didn't have any problems this far, then read my post on the other thread.

I charge my phone using the 2.0 amp wireless charger (I have a few scattered around) and I haven't noticed ANY heat change. In fact, I'd say the phone is cooler if anything. When I tried to update to Oreo by connecting to the computer (Smartswitch), I got Error 807******(don't remember) repeatedly, so I gave up and updated OTA.
I got tired of waiting and updated to Oreo via Odin. Haven't noticed any major issues.
I think T-Mobile stopped the OTA update because of battery life. I received the update on April 2nd and battery life is pretty bad for me. I only get 3Hrs 45min screen on time. Deleted a lot of apps that I don't use but didn't help much only get 4hrs screen on time. I also had to turn off Always on Display which I hate to do because I was use to looking at the screen without unlocking the phone.
