One thing I noticed about the Note 2 while wearing jeans and sitting down is that that home button gets pressed accidentally. Luckily, the phone has amazing battery so it's really non issue whereas my Gnex would die even faster than normal due to it's not so big battery.

How to disable this, though? Easy. But you must be at least rooted. After though, you just need an app like Root Explorer.
1. Mount as R/W and open /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl. To get into gpio, hold it, and click "edit with text editor"
2. Scroll to the line that says:
"key 172 HOME WAKE"
3. Now delete the HOME so it says:
"key 172"
4. You can change "WAKE" to "WAKE_DROPPED" if you use the stock lock screen and want your home button *NOT* to send you back to the home screen when you use it to wake.
5. Save it, reboot, profit.
And now when the screen is off, clicking the "Home" button will no longer wake up the phone. Thanks to cam30era of XDA for the help.
(if need be, this can be moved to the "Help" section, posted here cause it gets more traffic and most people seem to post here for questions regardless)

I have a problem, I want to disconnect the down button on the side of my Touch Pro. I have a bad habit I can't seem to break when I grab the phone my finger presses the down volume and shuts off the phone. So I would like to deactivate that button. Please don't just tell me to edit the registry without explaining how to do it step by step. Even though I have edit the registry before, I am not that familular with it. Thanks for the help.
Disconnecting the vol buttons
You can install the cab attached, soft reset, then go into settings>system>keyboard config. Press menu on the bottom right corner, then select add key. It will say hold the key you want to configure, or something like that, so hold the vol down key. Then it will pop up a new window, just tap apply/OK. Then tap update config. Bingo! You got it.
You can also edit what the keys do, too. Just ask if you want to.
Please tell me if this is too hard, because then I will post screenshots.
I have done this on my verizon tp.
Hi all,
the new Xperia Mini goes ON when i press the Home Button. (and with the Power Button too)...
Is there a way to disable Power ON with the Home Button?
Thanks!
Not that I know of. I actually like pressing the home button to turn on phone. Its more natural for me bc iv been using iphone for long time. To each his own I guess
Why is it you have a problem? just wonderin
Sent from my SK17i using XDA App
Too bad...
Using a Leather Case, and the Close "Button" is direct over the Home Button.
So everytime the Case is "Pressed" the Phone turns on.
ahhh i see. at least is minimal drain on the battery for lock screen to be on 10-20 sec.
but then again the battery life for xperia isn't all that great so i see your concern. guess back to playing the waiting game
Yes, but i like the Phone really!
Just wrote an eMail to SonyEricsson...
Brudertac try changing your leather case, solved.

Try this (you need to be rooted):
1. using root explorer or similar, go to folder /system/usr/keylayout, make sure the filesystem is mounted as R/W
2. edit file pm8058_keypad.kl
3. change the following line:
Code:
key 102 HOME WAKE_DROPPED
into this:
Code:
key 102 HOME
4. save the file, reboot and done
Sorry if this has been asked, search functions seems to be down at the moment, but I just got my Sprint S3 on Tuesday and noticed that when you press the home button while on the home screen it shows the screen previews, normal.
Now ever since yesterday when I press the home key it just goes to the home screen but does not do the screen preview. Is there something that I turned off by accident or is my phone acting up, its not really a big deal to me but I just want to make sure my phone is not defective. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance.
There's three functions for the home button so far as I know.
1) Single press, takes you back to your launcher's main screen.
2) Single press with hold, takes you to the task manager that shows you what's currently running along with previews of the apps.
3) Double press, takes you to S Voice.
I'm guessing that you are looking for number 2.

Thats really weird because like I said when I first got the phone and was on the home screen and pressed the button again it did the screen previews but now it only does what you listed. I wonder if anyone else had this happen, oh well thanks for the response.
One of the things I love about AOSP ROMs as opposed to LG ROMs is that the power menu activates a lot quicker. I recently found a way to replicate this effect using Xposed.
1. Install Xposed (make sure you're on Dalvik)
2. Install Xposed additions, then activate it and reboot. There appears to be a pro version, though you won't be needing it for this.
3. Go to Buttons, Long Press Delay = whatever you want. 100 is the lowest, 250 feels about right. Too low and your risk activating the power menu when trying to lock the phone.
4. Tap "Add new Key", then press the Power button to detect it. Press OK and then enter the newly created "Power" option
5. Tap "Add New Condition", then tap "Screen On". Optionally add "Lock Screen" as well. No need to add "Screen Off", I don't mind the long delay when the screen is off as it prevents against accidental activation.
6. Inside the Condition, check Long Press, then configure it to open the Power Menu. Make sure to do this for each condition.
Ta-da, instantaneous Power Menu.
Thanks ? What you think about module for additional apps in Quick Window on stock KitKat? ?

Power Button hold response after 10 sec
Hello guys please help me as I'm frustrated now.
Because when i hold my power button the menu pops up after 10 sec please suggest how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
Got the some problem as papuruth. Anybody know how to undo changes?
Hello all... long time XDA user, not enough time poster... Ok I had the (now to me) infamous power button issue this past weekend. I was able to get my phone going after beating the bejeezus out of it. With that said, I figured I would keep to using the power button to a minimal dosage. What I have is the following- S4 rooted, with ES File explorer installed with the root option enabled, quick boot, wanam, and mylock. The easiest stuff- I set a quick boot widget for power off and one for reboot (so no power buttons for that), I use mylock for locking the phone, wanam- added screenshot to power menu (among other mods that don't pertain to this), and home button for turning phone on (or Volume button- details coming).
I am going to attach a couple of screenshots too...
With ES File Explorer (going for forward, will be labeled ES) go to Device level / scroll down to system, go to usr, and then keylayout, in there go to Generic.kl. Once in there, scroll down to Key 116. Tap the little pencil in the upper screen of ES. Copy the contents of Key 116 - POWER WAKE (I recommend copying so you have all the spaces needed), delete out the key 114 option (I chose Volume Down) and paste that in there. Now you can leave both at POWER WAKE, or you can change 116 to the VOLUME_DOWN if you want to use the power button to turn down the audio. If you blank it out or add other characters it seems to kill the back button and menu button- SO I RECOMMEND TO HAVE SOMETHING THERE. OK good... so moving on-
Hit the back button and click to save the file.
Next-
in the same level as the Generic file, go to gpio-keys.kl).. Scroll down to Key 114 and replace the VOLUME_DOWN with the POWER WAKE that you should still have on your clipboard. Hit the back button and save text.
Final, you will have to reboot your phone in order for the changes to take effect.
Going forward, if you chose to use the power button for volume down, you will no longer be able able to use the power button while the phone is on for power purposes... it will be a volume down button now. Your volume down button will act like the power, so you can bring up the power menu for shut down/screenshots/etc.
To turn the phone one (if it is off), you have a few options... if the power button still works it will power the phone on (it doesn't matter that you have made this mod, it will not allow the volume down to turn a phone on from power off. If the button is shot shot, you can use the micro usb trick to turn it on ( hold down volume down and power, plug it in, then when download comes on put volume down to restart). Or you can use a jig...
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out. Thank you for checking this out.
