Clear data on keyboard. When and how did you do this?
If it isn't force closing, I would almost be led to believe that you deleted the /system/VODB folder.

cleared, no better.
i tried your mod thinking replacing the file would help, nothing. (your mod once i get it a working keyboard again is what im switching to, nice work btw) i deleted the odex file as someone suggested, no better.
i thought it was a font issue because i use a custom font called Morpheus...that wasnt it.
then i was looking into it being a "stuck in pen mode" issue. but the information i saw showed a settings option bar showing up where you could hit the gear icon to access keyboard settings and another to swap out of pen mode....i never saw that bar.
the only thing i can think of i did around this time was busybox install. i did the method that replaces applets...brilliant im sure. so im assuming i ruined something somewhere in the process.

OK so performed a factory reset. Got it back. I notice that after installing busy box its broken again and won't display. Can I revert the install? I'd really hate to have to reset everything again.

Here is the apk for the touchwiz launcher. I installed it with no problems. (directly through phone) this is the touchwiz30_rolle file. This file does not need to be installed through adb!
Credit goes to rolle3k in the nexus section for the touchwiz30_rolle.apk file
the touchwiz.zip file includes samsung widgets and original unmodified touchwiz launcher file. I have not tested/tryed these, though if you want to install them, it must be done through adb.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.

I believe so, if it isnt, they may need to be compiled into a zip file for clockwork.

EDIT: The launcher is a little slow when I scroll thru the icons. Plus the widgets doesn't want to install so I removed the whole thing.

how did you get the launcher file to install?. I had no luck. i got it to push, just couldnt get it to install. please post directions.

In the zip file the .apk named "TouchWiz30_rolle.apk". That's the only one that installed for me. The one named "TouchWiz30Launcher.apk" wouldn't install at all. The widgets wouldn't install either for some reason.
TouchWiz30_rolle.apk is just the launcer. No widgets!

My gf has a vibrant and she love the touchwiz. I like it a lot too is just personal preference.
Yes its also very choppy when flipping through screens on the application drawer....
can we possibly get a fix to that? I really love and prefer the TouchWiZ interface but the choppiness kills it, any one have any ideas as to whats causing it?

Hi everyone.
I am using the SalsaSense ROM. I am unable to post in that thread because I am new here, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me.
In the stock SMS app there is the option to delete old messages once a limit has been reached. I installed the ROM, recovered my messages, and enabled the option in the stock app with the limit set at 200. But my old messages are not being deleted. With one contact I have 7k+ messages, and since enabling the option I have sent and received several messages with them. When I had Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.6 installed beforehand, following these steps was enough to provoke it to keep my inbox in check. But not now.
Is this a problem with the ROM, or the stock app, or am I just unlucky?
I'm hoping someone here may have come across this and can help me out.

I think you've been unlucky. It sounds like a ROM problem since it's beta.
You could delete them using an app like SuperSMS Delete (I think it's that).
Yeah, guess I'll just have to wait for an update to it. I had a look round the market and found the app you were referring to. Worked a charm, thanks very much! Now my phone is a bit speedier.
Yeah i noticed this, unfortunately its a problem with the ROM. I've got a lot of issues to iron out so it takes me a while to solve each one, rest assured though it will be fixed

I'm trying to follow the build.prop editing suggestion, but adb doesn't list my phone under connected devices. I've tried while the phone is on, and in recovery.
Is there another way of successfully editing it?
Yeah, you can use Root Explorer from the Market. ES File explorer may work too, look in the app's settings for Root options.
Navigate to the directory with the build.prop and long press and I think there's an edit option if you use Root Explorer. Then you can just edit as you would normally via the phone.

Made both changes that JieeHD suggested, then powered it off and back on. I've never seen my phone go from power button to lock screen that fast in the 2 years I've had it! I definitely notice a speed improvement from making those changes. Everything just feels sharper and more responsive.

I've tried them and can confirm they do speed things up.
Wish there was some option to use a standard notification bar, I think it would help.

I agree. I tried following the instructions in this thread but I couldn't get it to work. Has anyone else using this ROM been able to successfully do this?
Just upgraded from 1.0.4 to 1.1.0. Update went just fine. My phone shows 1.1.0. I cant seem to find something. One of the screen shots in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299474 shows the screen shot attached to this post. I cant figure out how to get those icons (airplane, flashlight) to appear on my phone.

All is see is Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, Brightness,Settings,Sync, Screen Timeout and Tips
Did you download the full.zip or the upgrade? If you downloaded the full, did you wipe before installing?
thats odd because I see those icons. Maybe retry the update zip? Not sure if that will work, though.

Not a full/wipe. I pulled down the update only file and loaded it. Trying the update again. I hate to have to do a full/wipe. PIA to get all the settings back in place.
You can try the full install zip without the wipe. I've done that with the previous updates (within the same ROM) with no issues, but haven't tried with this update.

Put the mms.apk from the cm7 rom in your system/apps folder
reboot the phone and you will be good to go.
That's what a lot of people have done with excellent results.
I have tried just putting it back, and i have tried that one as well and it just force closes. any more ideas??
Hey guys, I downloaded the Jelly Beans mod and got the 4th release, flashed it perfectly and everything works perfectly. After about 24hrs of use I tried to send out a picture, the "Forever alone troll face" to my buddy hehe. I noticed it was stuck in sending. So I re-sent it, still stuck in sending. Restarted, stuck in sending, sent a different pic, now both are stuck in sending. Took a pic of my girlfriend sleeping with her finger in her nose, stuck sending. THESE PICS ARE IMPORTANT!
Anyway I can receive pics no problem but they wont send! I noticed on my GSIII when i had CM10 that this problem popped up too, I have full service and when its on stock, it never has problems with MMS. HELP! Thanks

Yeah try that. Now that I think about it I don't think messaging takes up cache but no harm in trying.

If you are talking about Bean's rom with aosp mms, that is a mod I did. It comes with a few caveats as its hacked in framework code.
When it gets stuck, you need to long hold the message and forward it. It should go right through at that point. I am surprised he didn't mention that in the thread (or did he?).

Hey, since you did the mod for the MMS app in Bean's REV 4, can you possibly look into an issue I posted yesterday? I can't save any attachments sent to me through text message. I get this error:
"/storage/sdcard0/DownloadIMG951035.jpg: open failed: EACCES (Permission Denied)"
Is there some script I can run to give the app permission to save attachments to my SD card? Or is there some option I need to enable? Thanks!

I can save items to external SD in OTHER apps if that's what you mean. Like, I have no issues saving attachments from emails. If you're asking if I can change the text message app to default to saving the attachment to my external SD, I'm not quite sure where I'd change that. I don't see anything about where the default save path is in the options menu. And when actually saving the attachment, I don't get to choose where to save it.
I long-press the picture, choose "save attachment" from the menu, select with a checkmark the attachment to save, and then it immediately gives me the error I posted above. Am I doing something wrong here lol?

Sorry, I'm still a newb at all of this. What do you mean by AOSP MMS?
Basically its the text app they moded so its not the standard touch wiz text app. Its the pretty nexus looking one.

Hi, i own a Samsung GS7 edge and I've just updated to Android 7.0. Everything has been fine and I've had no bigger problems with it, until yesterday when my emoji button, on my stock Samsung keyboard, totally disappeared. My device is not rooted, and I really wonder what the heck happened. Can someone please help me? Is there something I can do without having to master reset the phone? I have tried to wipe the cache, you know when you turn your phone off and hold down the volume down button, and that doesn't seem to work... Right now I'm using the GBoard, but I like the Samsung keyboard better.

Go to settings ➡apps➡press the 3 dots menu and choose "show system" then find the app and press it, then press "storage" and clear data and cache

I've just done that and apparently it didn't work... any other ideas? There's also some kind of bar at the top of my keyboard which I absolutely don't know where it came from, and I honestly don't like it either.

Ok, definitely the rom isn't stable yet, and the problem might be fixed in newer updates.
For now, you can download the latest stock rom for your phone and country and flash it with Odin that might override the faulty app, and also a replacement for "factory reset".
anyway, if i were you i wouldn't do that because it's a risk of bigger issues, there are many keyboards available and better than Gkeyboard, like SwiftKey or TouchPal
