Hello,
I can admit I am a noob in rooting phones, so...do not be to harsh on me.
I want just to root my phone (HTC One X+ wint Android 4.1.1), but not lose (wipe) my data.
I do not want another ROM. Just root and have Official software. Is it possible?
Thank you, Cristian.

no is not possible.
root needs unlocked bootloader --> unlocked bootloader erase all files on phone (yes i mean ALL) --> official OTA updates doesn't work with unlocked bootloader

Hi all, coming from IOS I find all this rooting / bootloader unlocking etc quite confusing as apparently there are some restrictions when wanting to go back to the stock (non-rooted) rom.
So here is my question:
I know relocking the bootloader is quite a specific job, I won't touch that.
As far as I know, if you only want to root the stock rom, you don't need to unlock that bootloader. Is that right?
As I'm on .62 with my mini pro, I need to downgrade to an older version, root it and then do an OTA upgrade to .62 again. I will keep my root then.
My question is: can I revert to a non-rooted version easily?
I still want to be able to test the upcoming ICS version.
I don't want to loose DRM etc, but as I understood this has nothing to do with rooting your device, only with unlocking the bootloader. Right?
Can this be confirmed?

No, you dont need to unlock yout bootloader yo get root. Rooting your device will have to affect with the bootloader and DRM is only removed from unlocking the bootloader. You can easily un-root your phone if you use Doom Lord's root method as he gives a file to unroot.
Thx for the info!
Or you can flash .58 firmware again and root will be gone,
Hello, I want to know how I can unroot my cell phone but I don´t understand when you say something about "Doom Lord's root method". I couldn´t find this in the forum. Can you tell me something about this method? Or can you explain me about how to unroot my Xperia Mini Pro.
PD: I am from Argentina and I have a SK17a.

Hello!
I have a question regarding the bootloader og the LG G2. Maybe this even applies to previous products.
I've owned the HTC one X and if it was a branded phone you could not flash any stock firmware unless you would get S-OFF.
Now what i would like to know is how this is handled by LG? Can anyone enlighten me?
I'm deciding to pick up this phone and i'm not sure about the bootloader but it's of huge concern to me
Thanks in advance

First:
The Q and A section are for questions
Second:
Loki method was just confirmed for the verizon and AT&T version of this device. All you have to do is flash the recovery via adb (or maybe in the future with goomanager) and flash roms (when they are available. currently they are not)
This has a locked bootloader like the One X but Loki is an exploit that goes around the bootloader without having to unlock it.
Third:
htc one x didnt require S off to flash, it just required unlocking the bootloader via HTC DEV after changing your CID (i think that what it is called) to all 1's. S off is security off, it allows you to do more with the bootloader like remove tampered and unlocked or change your CID to another HTC One X variant to get OTAs
My god I had totally forgotten about the Q&A forum. I apologize. Due to my excitement for the LG G2 i just couldn't resist getting this posted ASAP. Much thanks !
will all help here also include the telus version of htc one x + ? like rooting unlocking roms and such ? i figure since htc abandoned me i wil unlock, root and update it this wway.

hello guys i have a question i bought an HTC One M7 from At&T (i bought it on internet) im currently using another carrier because is factory unlocked, but when they gave it to me the phone was runing a custom rom (insterkoin 4.4.2) i really dont like the roms i preffer the stock ones with no root and everything as it is, so i found out that the Phone has the bootloader unlocked, rooted, but is still S-ON and it has H.Boot 1.55 so i dont know how do they installed a custom ROM, pretty much my question is, how do i restore my phone to Fully stock, and i understand that i need to gain s-off in order to get back to stock, so how can i do it ? if you guys please can help me i will appreciate it thank you in advanced!

You don't need s-off to install a custom rom in many cases. It just has to be unlocked via HTC dev. Look around and you should find the post with instructions for returning to stock 4.3.

Can't be done without unlocking bootloader. You can use HTC Sync to update to latest official ROM for your device; it will flash the current ROM from your workstation. Note that doing so will wipe your device.
If you want to run anything other than stock, you need to unlock bootloader. The only way to unlock bootloader is with Sunrise, and that costs $25.
