i have i9100 which was on 2.3.5. i did something stupid with it and rooter my phone ,upgraded to RR JB Rom with Siyah kernel. Since then my phone was very cranky. the battery used to drain down very fast. read a few threads and turned the wifi off when on sleep, never went to 3g network and i used it only for phone calls and msgs but it still wouldn't stay longer than 3-4 hrs before the battery drains.
a little later to add to my misery, the phone used to shutdown randomly. each time this happens i connect the charger and power it on. when the charger is connected, the battery shows 80% but when removed phone shuts down.
i tried to re-calibrate the battery going to recovery mode nogo.
so i decided to downgrade to ICS. i am now on an official ROM by Ssamsung for S2. Un-rooted the phone. same issue here as well. i open you tube , Fb, Dolphin Browser, the phone shuts down. i think this is happening only when i use internet.
i don't see wipe battery stats at all now in recovery mode to re-calibrate my battery.
i am stuck and need help. very close to throw this phone away and settle for a cheaper one. please help!!!!!!!

Hi, I've been having some problems with my Galaxy S2. About a week ago(maybe a day after flashing MIUI), my phone wouldn't boot normally, and only gave me a symbol which I ment battery overheated. Only way to start it up was CWM. So I did that for a few days, and then the battery drain would get really intense. It'd be at 100% for a few hours, and then suddenly it'd drop to 80% in a minute or two, and then it'd go normally down to 70% and then down to 40% in a few minutes, etc.
It wouldn't charge when I plugged it into the wall, either, and it's not possible to turn the phone off either, it just starts up again by itself and gives me the "YOUR BATTERY IS OVERHEATED/AT 80% BATTERY" error. But even if I plugged it in in that position, or actually running it wouldn't charge for a few hours, and then it'd start charging randomly for about 5 minutes. So after a full night of charging (8 hours) it'd get about 30% battery recovered.
I didn't really read into it any and just figured buying a new battery would fix it, but it didn't. It still won't charge properly and the drain is pretty intense still. And still gives me the overheat sign, and won't boot properly, etc etc..
The reason I haven't just tried flashing a different ROM is because I live at school where a 100-300mb download is impossible to pull off, and I won't be back home for over a month.
If this is too long to read, lol here's a summary:
Flashed MIUI
Battery won't recharge
Drains fast
Phone won't boot properly
Bought new battery, same problems
Live at a place with no proper internet connection to download a different ROM with.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? The rom? Some rampant application running wild in MIUI? The phone?
Oh and also I've tried re-flashing MIUI, and clearing the cache, data, battery stats, etc etc.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Have you tried to flash back a standard rom?

After my Phone finishes charging and I unplug the charger, it randomly shows "Charged" "99% Charging" and on until it gets to 85% obviously it wakes the phone and keeps draining the battery.
I'm on CheckROMRevo 4 and Void Echo Kernel
Underclocked and Undervolted (I've tried not Undervolting and no Underclocking but the same happens)
What about stock ?
I'd go back to stock to see if it does the same. Obviously if it doesn't/behaves normally that rules out hardware & your problem lies with the rom/kernel.
Gonna try going back CF Kernel see if it solves anything, if not then KK5 Stock it is then
Let us know how you get on
Didn't work found a better explanation on gsmarena lol
Quote: I have this phone,,after 6months, sometimes, it won't turn off, every time I switch it off, it turns on by itself. and cannot connect to PC,. there are time that the phone battery indicator keeps charging even the charger was unplug.
I also Tried Hard reset, No Lucky
Only difference between him and me is that I can connect to PC
Hello,
how you can read above, I have big problems with my battery since I did an update to Android 4.0.4 a few days ago. Before, I charged my phone 1-3 times a week. If I charge it now and pull off the charging adapter, my battery drains down to 0 within a few hours. After about 1 hour in Stand-By I have about 75-80% of battery life at the moment. Does anyone of you have an idea how this problem is caused? And if - what can I do against it?

I'm facing the same problem although my phone isn't rooted... And it is awake the whole time. I mean it, not a single second of deep sleep.

Don't do anything yet. Go and reboot your home router. Trust me. I had some crazy battery drain on my S2, not just on ICS but also on gingerbread. It had very little to do with the phone. Just reboot your home router and see if your drain stops. It stopped mine. I found out after I installed a data manager on my phone that my phone was downloading a hell of a lot of data, and no I am all on stock ICS. I got hardly any apps installed either.
And when I turned off WiFi and a 3G data, the battery drain used to stop. I rebooted my home router and and now my WiFi is always on and very little drain. Try it.
Better battery stats for finding your wakelocks and cpu spy to see if your device is deep sleeping
And a kernel that you can tweak

I don't know which member it was on XDA who suggested leaving the phone alone and just Rebooting your home wireless access point. But it has worked like a charm for me. No more battery drain. I don't know what the router is doing with the S2 but its causing a massive data spike in the Data stats on the phone. Reboot the router.
I found a solution for myself. Power manager service and fuel_alert were waking the phone. I just took the battery off for some minutes and voila! The phone goes into deep sleep again.

Hello,
it seems like my battery had been destroyed. I don't know how this could happen, but it happened. I turned the device off over night and wanted to start it this morning - nothing. No boot animation or something else. So I plugged in the charger - nothing. I waited about 20-30 minutes and tried to boot it- nothing. Then I tested the battery of a friend - and my phone was booting again. So I ordered a new battery for my phone at amazon.

Ok so I have a galaxy s3 gt-i9300, which is about 20 months old, and it started to have this problem a month or so ago. The phone was running a kit Kat cyanogenmod rom, and it was draining the battery somewhat faster than the stock rom, and one day the screen started flickering at around 30% battery, which followed by the phone turning off itself. It can't be turned on until it's plugged in, and when I do so, the battery is at 0% charge, so I figured this was a battery problem and I replaced the battery for a new, original samsung battery. I thought this would make the trick. But I didn't, so my last thought was to return to stock software and this didn't solve the problem either. This always happens to me in every single charge at around 30%-40%. The rest of the charge lasts as long as expected, so the phone basically uses 60%-70% of a charge. I'm all ears for solutions to this and I also want to know what is causing it.
Try a battery from another phone, one that is known to be working correctly.
Else try a full wipe, including preload and internal sd, before you flash the latest stock rom for your country. Factory reset again in recovery after flash.
I have this problem where my phone I will charge it to 100% and it was just turning off random dying than when turned back on 0%
Soi get a new battery and charge it and see how it goes again gets to around 80% and dies and I have to turn it back on but it has 0% power then I read something on google about try leaving battery out for 2 minutes and I did this then it randomly had 70% charge without charging but then eventually it died again and I did the same then it had 50% then I charged it
with multiple batteries tried it has to be a phone problem but I just don't understand what it could be
I use the phone, not for calls or anything I actually do not have a sim card in the phone
I use wifi and social apps but the issues can happen when the phone is just sat there doing nothing
