[Q] SMS layout all messed up

Hello,
Question about the default messaging app for the streak. (I say default because this has happened to me on the Dell stock rom, simplestreak, and streakdroid 1.9)
The layout of my SMS is all weird, messages look like this
Friend: Reply back 1
Friend: Reply back 2
Me: Test message
Me: Test message 2
I'm used to messages threading properly like:
Me: Test message
Friend: Reply back 1
Me: Test message 2
Friend: Reply back 2
Any suggestions? (I don't really want to use a 3rd party SMS app, and most look the the iPhone.. so no)
Thanks
That happens to me from time to time. I would recommended 3rd party apps but you've made it clear you don't want to use them so good luck.
Fixed i t
Looks like I suffer from that timestamp bug on incoming SMS. From what I can tell, Rogers devices with 3rd party ROM's have that issue.
Basically all incoming texts get timestamped 5 hours earlier, so they always appear above my texts.
Found a free app in the marketplace that addresses it. (SMS timefix)

I have recently purchased an S3 and I am quite happy with it except it is showing one unread message and when you open messages there is not any unread messages.
I have managed to clear it by rebooting my phone and then when I receive another SMS it goes back one unread even though I have read.
How do I clear this annoyance.

Are you using the stock messaging app? I bet you're not... If you have a third-party SMS app, the stock messaging app will continue to register and notify about new messages received, even if they've been read in the third-party app.
To resolve this, just switch off notifications in the stock messaging app.
This is a bug in the firmware, it has been fixed you just need to wait for the OTA to be pushed to your phone

No. This is a problem with some S3s. Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705015
My colleague had this issue and I played around with it on Friday without success but she says that the issue was resolved on Friday and she has received several messages and calls but the 1 is not stuck on the icon after reading the message anymore. I am at a loss as to what I did...

Can't send SMS to specific contact

I have an unlocked Galaxy S2 running stock Gingerbread (2.3.4), unrooted. A problem has arisen whereby I can no longer send SMS's to one of my contacts (it has never been a problem before). I've tried deleting all previous message threads with that contact, but it didn't help. I then tried deleting the contact and sending an SMS to her number. The message was sent, but when I got a reply I was unable to reply to it. The reply also picked up the other person's name from somewhere, even though I'd deleted the contact from both the phone and my Gmail account.
I've tried both Handcent and the stock messaging app, and neither is able to send an SMS to this person. Other contacts are fine.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

it could be a problem in your network.. i had experienced that before, i tried flashing different firmwares and etc but it still didn't fix the problem.. so might as well call you network provider.
or you could also try to reset to factory settings/wipe data or better yet flash a new firmware
Hi
I too haven't had this problem but a similar one where I can't access contacts on sum card. I think if you have had your phone rooted.and installed ics or another rom it formats it slightly different i think because when I installed the aroma rom I had on when I saved the contacts I could see them but when I switched roms they disappeared. Not sure this answers all your question but might explain why her name popped up after you deleted it. Try installing a simcard viewer I tried this as my next solution and was able to see prior contacts there is one somewhere with no permissions I think.
Hope I helped
The same problem has occured on my Galaxy SII: After the SMS-thread from one contact got deleted I can't send SMS to her, I get status "failed" and under message details it says "Error code 1", I receicve messages from her but can't answer them, however an MMS with a picture got sent yesterday.
Has anyone with similar problems found an answer?
I eventually flashed new firmware: Stock ICS via Kies (4.0.4). Still can't send an SMS to the contact though. Has anyone else resolved this yet?

cm10.1 sms issue

i hav a recent 10.1 nightly installed and my sms is usual quick with no issues. I have no lag with my sms.
I have limited each thread to 200 max messages.
My recipients have noticed unusual texts from myself only when i send them a sms that'll be 7+ sms in 1.
They will recieve all my sms content, then it will add an sms that was sent to them a few weeks ago at the bottom of it.
for example
string currentMessage = "Hi im running late to work, be there soon";
string oldMessage = "bye i just left work i'll see you tomorrow";
string messageSent = currentMessage + oldMessage;
SMS sent shown in my thread:
Hi im running late to work, be there soon
SMS recieved shown in their thread:
Hi im runnign late to work, be there soonbye i just left work i'll see you tomorrow
Should i backup my sms with somethign like smsbackuprestore.. delete all messages, and removing sms.apk then reinstall the sms.apk
If i force stop, clear data, clear cache, then restart phone.. would this delete my sms threads?
I use vodafone australia.. The network has been unstable for many users.. Data.. Mms delays etc can the network cause this issue?
This doesnt happen all the time so i can't reproduce it to test if this happens on other sms apps
I don't want to use another sms app, im happy with the stock cm10.1

[Q] SMS APP - Problem

Hey people .
First let me just talk about the problem: Everytime that i send a mid/big sms, the Delivery Report appears many times 'in big sms it can appear 5/7 times', when it is supposed to appear only one time
Another thing is that everytime i receive an sms or when an sms is still sending, if i want to go up or down in the list of sms, the sms app always move down to the last sms that i have in the app
So now imagine: you send a big sms, and until that sms is completely send you want to copy and paste another sms to send, what happens? the delivery report appears too many times so you won't be able to copy the sms you want to paste because the app is always moving down to the last sms
So my question here is this: Is there a way to stop the Delivery Report "appearing too many times"? and a way to stop the app from always moving down?
I wait your answer people , and the answers that help me i will click the Thanks Button to you :good:
NOTE: don't recommend me apks like: go sms pro, hadcent, wali, and pansi, because they don't work very well "some bugs". But if you know any other good sms app out there that is good without problems, then tell me please . Or it can be an sms app of an GB Rom out there that is working good, that would be even better because i like the original sms app in GB roms .
Cheers :good:
