Hey guys. Got a message about some 7 mb ota update today. It downloaded, got to the point where it said something like phone will reboot in 30 seconds to install the update. After 30 seconds, whenbit should have restarted, i get a pop up message with software update saying that checking for updates or something, the message you get when you try to manually update software and it is looking for possible update. I restarted the phone and i get the same message. I am on stock 4.1.2 ELL1 from orange romania, rooted

Why cant I update, obviously... kies says i have the latest version of software, but it seems that i dont, because latest version is ELLA and i have ELL1

You cannot update as your phone vendor / country has not pushed out an update yet .

I got that OTA message without doing anything, so i think the update is available in my country. If
Not, why did i get it in the first place? It was a message from the software update server, wasnt it?

Orange Romania customizes the ROM in a way that can not get OTA updates. I don't jbow anyone whi could make OTA updates with ORO firmware o Galaxy S/ S II / S III.
Just make them euth kies. Maybe you need to restore the firmware from kies if you get that error wher you have a new version available but you are up to date.
AFAIK ORO did not released another update. Their latest is LL1

Sounds like you flashed something in download mode. Wait for the new version of Chainfire's TriangleAway to reset your counter. After that you should be able to update. Don't worry, there are no official Kies updates out yet.

So you reckon its nothing much i can now until the next update? Will i be able to update in the future via kies? i'm on 4.04 now I9300XXLEF
Incidentally, does the SIII now support OTA updates? I thought it might, seeing that you had to set something up during the initial setup process of the phone.
Anything but that execrable Kies software!

I am on TMobile, so technically yes I'm on Orange as they are "Everything Everywhere".
I'm a new customer, should I cancel, I'm still with in the 7 days.
I was going to do the same but you will be able to update through kies when Samsung release updates, this way will be alot quicker than waiting for orange/t-mobile they will take an additional 6 months

Thanks for the reply jje, is there a guide or anything on how to update non Orange via Kies? Because Kies will only update mine with TMobile/Orange when they are released.

You're seriously considering cancelling, purely on the basis that you won't receive OTA updates as quickly as other users? Are you actually mental, or just an idiot?
For me Kies sucks big time, i uninstalled (exept the usb drivers) it and i flash updates with Odin. Much faster and more reliable.

I must have an 'Orange' phone as well. Purchased from my US cellular carrier - it's a small cell company who buys international phones to bring the newest phones to it's customers. My phone is missing the software update button. You believe I can receive updates via Kies? Or will the updates be delayed or minimal?
If I were to flash the phone, could you post a guide, or link to a guide? I'm really a noob at this.

i have 2 phones S3.
Today i got a message on both to download the official update firmware.
The first S3 the download process was broken due to server connection problem. The update was not downloaded and not installed. Now if i try to check for update i found no update avaiable...
The second S3 was updated successfull and i have a different firmware version.
How can i unblock first S3 to get official update ?

I'm running JB stock rom on my SGSIII (btu) , the official polish one , downloaded
from sammobile. I can still connect to KIES, but it tells me; your device doesn't support software upgrades via KIES.
What can I do to change this ????

Try To check if You have kies package in titanium backup, if Not kies wouldnt recognize tour phone

It's because it's from Sammobile, not from Kies. If you would have flashed it via Kies, it would still say your device supports (etc. ...)
I think ur phone is rooted n your device status is modified. Now you will Samsung has changed update checks. No modified devices will be able to get update.

Cut and Paste Kies no update .
Rom is not for your phone .You now present Kies with wrong phone and firmware codes .
Wipe phone and reinstall your original saved firmware .Or download it from CHECKFUS .

Hi all every time I try install the new jelly bean software Ota I get the message (access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it.try later) please help also when I connect my phone to the pc kies just crashes on the software update.

You have to wait till the update servers become less congested or you can download the firmware from Samfirmware and flash it

Why so eager to update to JB?
Have you seen the countless complaints from software reviews on the Market about how this and that doesn't work in JB?
Sounds like the developers need more time to iron out bugs to adapt to JB.
Guess it doesn't matter if your phone is just for ****s and giggles, but beware if it's your practical phone.
Many of us have been running JB for months with few or no problems .

Hi delsus.
Kies has been a pain for me so far as when it connects to my phone it won't show the current firmware version and give me the option to upgrade. I wanted to try Odin (I haven't rooted my S3) but I wondered if it would void my warranty in any way if I flashed the official UK unlocked update. Do you have any idea?
