Is there an app/widget (for root or stock) that can activate the profiles created in samsung tectile app? I don't want to have to have another tectile just to return to a normal profile, would be fine doing it from a widget. Currently I go through the app to return to a normal, kind of a pita...

I don't know about an app to trigger a tectile, but you could use Tasker to change what you want.
Steep learning curve, but incredibly powerful.

I don't know why but I read the title as "testicle." What the hell is tectile? I've never heard of it.
Edit: Ah, nvm. I did a quick google. Believe it or not I've had 3 different devices with NFC and have never even used it once.
I'll give Tasker a try. I am alright with learning curves. It looks like I can create a "normal" profile and just activate that through a widget. Thanks for the response.

NFC task launcher can set the NFC tags to have 2 tasks, I. El. One to mute sound, then tap again to turn sound back on.

Hi guys
Question: Does anyone know of an app, that can also give us Android users the kind of functionality on the Iphone 5 pull down? (See Screenshot)
I would like to see my mails listed, maybe the first 2 or so, with sms, weather etc?
I have looked, maybe this is a nice dev opp?
There are apps you use to get like this, but one single app, i think we still dont have...

For the Pull Down Notification Bar Toggles try "Notification Toggle" free from the market...
That's right. I can use the search function.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353414

yeah, sorry. I saw that. Perhaps should have mentioned it.
I'm on stock 2.3.4. and it said it wouldn't work.
so thanks for re-using the search function for me.
Don't get me wrong but the notification/widget implementation on iOS is not pretty efficient in my opinion.
I'd hate to be constantly pulling down just so see what's up with the weather or whatever.
I rather have my widgets on the unlock screen or desktop as Android does.
Cheers!

Anyone know how to get voice search to set an alarm? Like I hold down search and say set alarm for X? It says I don't have the correct program installed..
Alternatively, anyone know which app works with this?

Ask Siri to do it?
Thanks, but no. If you watch the Google voice search videos they show this being done.
Oh and kick rocks.

the stock gingerbread clock works for this. You should be able to pull one from another phone or ROM. And at least some of the alarm clock apps in the market do the same; I believe Alarm Klock is one of them.
It's handy but I like the timer function of the Samsung clock enough to give up the voice commands for now.
Download market version of vlingo its way better than native voice search

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Found one that works. Sucks that I have to manually confirm the alarm.

Works good using Speaktoit Assistant just tried it after reading post, told her to set alarm for 6:00 p.m. she replied setting alarm for 6:00 p.m. went into the clock app and there's a caption above alarm saying set by assistant. If you try Speaktoit I would also recommended Ivona for a speach engine. All are free in market.

Hi,
I like Llama very much and I'm currently setting up a periodic turning on and off of the data connection while the screen is off to save battery. This already seems to work, however I would like to show when turning the screen on again how often the data connection was turned on. But something like putting "Synced %SyncCount% times" as reminder text does not seem to work. How can I show this? I would rather not want to install the minimalistic text widget for that.
Also it would be nice to show a toast instead of a reminder.

I've been trying to look for a list of llama variables without success. Trying to find a llama variable to detect whether GPS is enabled or disabled.
Any help

Anyway for Llama to show a toast?
Anyway for Llama to show a toast? Either through an Android Intent or Variable? I want to display a message / notification (toast) on my phone when I perform an action.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd see what everyone uses their multi app Windows for. I think it's a great idea but I can never think of 2 apps I'd use at the same time.
I turned mine off because i dont like the tab thats on the side of the phone. Texting and browsing is one good use for it. Easy to copy and paste links between the two. Although its pretty easy to swap between the two using the home key too.

I usually use mines for copying information into a notepad / memo.
YouTube and a browser bc YT stops when its in the background and with a mod'd YouTube apk, I can listen with the screen turned off
I haven't used it once, the phone switches windows so fast

Student GMail -> calendar. I get notified of school meetings and stuff all the time. Multiwindow makes it very easy to copy over the information into my Google calendar.
But that's really my only use for it. It is nice for this purpose, but I could live without.
Copying links/addresses or other information to a text is a good use, as is from any app to a note taking app.

On TW if you hold the back softkey button while multi-window is enabled it hides the bar until you want it again. Simply hold the back button once more for it to show. =)

i usually use it when balancing accts. i like reconciling manually since i always seem to get double entries doing it "automatically". ff up top and anmoney at the bottom. works better with a tablet though.

I have to agree, aside from the cool factor of actually being able to do it, I have not found a practical use for it.
I use it when copy/pasting login credentials from LastPass.

Cool thanks guys
I have used it a couple of times to text while I watch a movie or video.
Before I had the phone, I thought I would use the multi-window a lot and was excited about it.
Tried using it a few times and it just wasn't clicking for me.
I think if I could incorporate my apps with it or if it were more intuitive, maybe I would use it. I don't know.
As of now I have it disabled.
I would like a better app switcher, though. Something like Zephyr for the jailbroken iphone.

Hey,
Anyone know a remote control app that'll allow me to control my Sony tv via ir? Can't seem to find any that actually works.

Hah, duh.. I guess the eyes are the first you get blind on.. Kind of thought that it required a set top box, but it works fine just selecting a random one during setup and removing it afterwards.. Nice with the remote in the status menu. Thanks

Try also Peel Smart Remote, works well.
