Format internal SD? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I am getting my Note 2 on Monday second hand. I am going to jailbreak and root but want to wipe the SD card to start fresh. I know from my S3 that a "factory reset" does not wipe the Sdcard. Can I wipe the internal SD in TWRP before installing a ROM that get rid of everything?

You'd want to wipe /system, /cache, and /data too for a nice clean install.

Can we please get a "Wipe /system" feature in CW Recovery

I am not liking restoring +2gigs of **** every other week... I would just like to wipe /system and install new rom. TWRP has it (but its format), and I find it to be a bit buggy.

Check under mounts and partitions menu. I know it's there in CWM for my Transformer. But I use twrp on my Evo so I'm not sure.

It's under a sub-menu for sure. I remember when the change was made, I had a little trouble finding it on my buddy's Incredible. It was under a sub-menu, though.

format system will basically wipe out the ROM and leave data alone, like your market apps and such. no it will not wipe your sd card.

How do I format internal SD?

Hi
I have a huge problem.
Sms/mms app won't run. It crashes after boot and any time I try to start it.
I have made several clean installations of stock ROM with no result. Including wiping everything of course.
But I can't figure out how to format the internal SD. There's files left there no matter what I do.
How do I make a true format so I can start over from scratch?

Probably files whose path gets rebuilt after a wipe, like DCIM.
In twrp recovery you have in wipe menu options to wipe internal sdcard, or format data completely, including /data/media (= sdcard).

I did several hard resets, but those do not fix anything really.
It would be helpful if you list what files they are

Recovery/mounts and storage/format sd
Twrp is a recovery, there is a thread in Android original development section.

No, I tried that several times. I think that is supposed to format the external memory card BTW.

BTW: that must be some special. You can't format the internal card when using the phone. To many files in it that system uses.

Formatting internal SD card?

Hi, I'm using the Dorimanx Kernel along with the Ressurection Remix ROM and I was wondering, can I format my internal sd card in any way? The latest version has bugged the storage opting in the settings so I can't possibly manage this that way.

When you say format internal storage are you referring to wiping it via rom or recovery?
If recovery have you tried another kernel?
If rom them why not change rom version??
By the way the word you was looking for was "pardon".

Am I automatically required to use the word pardon? Lolwut.
And when I say format internal SDcard then I mean wiping it clean so that only the necessary folders and files are remaining.

Well your internal SD is partitioned. When you wipe data/factory reset teh system partition is returned to default. You could then wipe the card you want to format when mounted via USB in Windows, all needed files would be re-created on fist boot of factory reset system afaik.
Remember to backup what you want to keep like photos/efs backup folder etc etc.
Reboot in recovery, go into "mounts and storage" menu and format the internal SD card.

Nice, thanks! Will this remove any files related to my rom & kernel?
Will this remove any of my important files and will I have to install the rom all over again? Or am I good to go?
Nope, but all your data and settings will be gone. It's like you started your phone for the first time.

just do it in recovery.

[Q] Format internal sd

Hello
I recently rooted and flashed LiquidSmooth onto my SG3 I747M and i would like to get rid of all the junk on my internal harddrive. I was wondering what the procedure would be to wipe my internal harddrive (So i do not have any random folders or old app files) on TWRP without losing my custom rom and root. Would i have to save the backup (just incase), custom rom and root on my sd card and just install it right after I wipe my harddrive?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!
Wipe cache and go to /system/app and /data/app and delete unwanted apps. That should be enough.

boot into twrp, go to the wipe menu, and wipe everysingle thing. Then reflash your rom. That will wipe everything, and reinstall liquid smooth.
Doing this wont brick your phone or make you lose root.

Thank you! This is exactly what i was looking for. What would i be wiping though? Obviously Cache, Dalvik and Factory Reset but do i have to wipe System, Internal storage and format data? (What does format data do)?

yeah wipe everything including system, and internal storage. format data formats the data partition of the phone, which is also necessary.
The only thing you dont have to wipe is your external sd card (if you even have one). Press thanks if i helped.

Can a trojan/malware persist after full wipe and rom install?

I wiped system, cache, dalvik, boot and recovery before installing a new custom rom. What are chances that a malicious code still run on the device? Thanks

Have you mounted every partition you've seen in mount menu of twrp and wiped them? Also there are other memory spaces, but I guess they are not used by malware (no guarantee).
There's also data partition, I wiped that. EFS I don't think there's an option to wipe it. USB otg is unmounted.

Yeah, data partition should be wiped too(wipes your data, be careful!). And internal storage too!
It doesn't answer my question
