[Q] Droid X2 CM10 wifi? - Motorola Droid X2

hey guys,
Recently just flashed my DroidX2 to CM10.... I sbf back to 2.3.4, rooted, BSR and installed CM10 and GAPP. all that went fine and flawlessly... love the rom thanks to the dev for workin on it. i was hoping that anyone could help me out in figuring out why my wifi wont turn on period. the wifi toggles but it just sits there "turning wifi on" . Im aware that Cm10 had wifi issues but what ive read was that they are mainly maintaining connectivity. Im not sure if i missed something or did something incorrect but please help.
thanks

hey sir. problemo is, no wifi module into this build. lol. go to cm10 for the dx2 post in android development, not the mx2, but the regular one, on page 141 near the bottom, someone uploaded the file you need, and where to put it. permissions should match the other modules in that folder.

[x][ ] [ ] like this. or two on the left on top row, and only one on the left on the other two below it. but just use a root explorer and drop it in its place. i didnt even have to reboot. funny that dragon forgot this over two weeks ago and still hasnt posted an update. frustrating.

You can always download cm10 alpha 2 and extract dhd.ko and push it into cm10 alpha 2.9999999999 and set the permissions to
x)x)-
x)-)-

or you can just download cm10 alpha 3 that includes the wifi fix

but if you install a3, make sure you realize that it needs the hijack in order to use recovery . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37698274&postcount=1573 the hijack-boot.zip can be placed in system/etc using a root browser. permissions will be the same as above

just sayin. thanks to bluphant for making the link post.

the link
It's disappointing that you had trouble finding the reference mentioned, then didn't post a link after you found it.
I've spent about an hour trying to find this (trying to figure out what it means to go to "cm10 for the dx2 post in android development" which was apparently tricky enough that you couldn't find it either and asked for a link).
For those who find this thread because they're looking for solutions on wifi enabling, I think this is what they were referring to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912280&page=141
Sadly, the link to dhd.ko no longer has the file. So that sucks.

How can I verify that what I installed was alpha 3? Because I was sure that's what I did, but my WiFi isn't working either.

Clarification: I installed FoxFi and FoxFi Pro (key), but when I tried to start the hotspot, it hung, saying that it could not start the wifi. So I tried myself, and sure enough, no, I couldn't turn it on. Then I uninstalled FoxFi, rebooted, and noticed that the Wifi was working, and that CM10 seems to have its own built in hotspot capability. As soon as I tried turning it on, it again said it couldn't start wifi.
Actually, in grey, it says:
Portable WifFi hotspot
Turning Wi-Fi on
and it just hangs there.

[OUTDATED] Swype Beta - XDA Free - HBO GO - (aka. Give your NOOK an IMEI number)

*** This thread is now outdated ***
Please follow this link for a much better solution - Also, be sure to hit the Thanks! button to show your support for DizzyDen's excellent work!
********************************************************************************
I have removed all the files from this post and I encourage everyone to migrate to DizzyDen's superior solution. If for some reason you are unable to use Dizzy's tool you can PM DizzyDen or myself (Martian21) and one of us should be able to get you want you need.
********************************************************************************
[Original Thread]
I have seen several threads regarding this topic and thought I'd try to consolidate as much as I can in one place.
Credit for the original IMEI work goes to mthe0ry His original thread is here.
Because the NOOK Color is not a phone it does not have an IMEI number. This is why some apps that check for an IMEI number do not work on the NOOK.
Thanks to the work of mthe0ry and now DizzyDen it is possible to modify the framework.jar file in order to create a fake IMEI number on the NOOK Color. Doing so will allow programs such as Swype Beta, the free version of the XDA app, HBO GO, and the Xfinity app to work on the NOOK Color.
Unfortunately you need to have a framework.jar file that matches the ROM you are running as changes to the framework between ROMs can (and probably will) cause problems.
[See DizzyDen's thread for the IMEI generator tool]
*** This is mostly obsolete now that Dizzy's tool handles replacing the framework.jar file and backs up your original file - but I will leave it here just in case it is still useful to someone. ***
Installation:
You will need a file manager with Root access such as Root Explorer.
Download the framework.jar file for your Rom.
Unzip the file and transfer the framework.jar file to your NOOK Color.
Navigate to /System/framework using Root Explorer.
Mount the /System/framework folder R/W.
Rename the original framework.jar to framework.jar.bak.
Using Root Explorer, copy the new framwork.jar file.
Paste the modified framework.jar into /System/framework.
Long press the newly copied framework.jar and select "Permissions".
Change the permissions to match framework.jar.bak [rw-r--r--].
Mount the /System/framework folder R/O.
I recommend you reboot your NOOK although resetting the launcher may be enough.
For those that used my original files or the ones from mthe0ry, the original IMEI used in those files is "12-34567-89012-45". If you wish to continue using this IMEI number [NOT RECOMMENDED] you can manually enter it into Dizzy's tool.

I know that nightly 78 was the last nightly that runs on .29 kernel all the new nightlys 80,82,83 and 84 need uboot 1.2 and .32 kernel. I have read that some people have been experiencing problems on these builts. Also being that .32 kernel is still label beta i would like to ask you if you could please make a framework for nightly 78. I have attached the framework file from my nightly 78. Thank you
Finally was able to reboot after copying framework82. Was able to sign in but have yet to play a movie. I get stuck in the spinning circle.

I did a total wipe, stock 1.2 install, then a second total wipe before n82. I then added the modded framework and HBO GO worked really well! But, after adding Dal's 5/13 OC, I then got the spinning circle problem you describe.
I tried re-flashing just n83 to fix it (without Dal's OC), and re-installing the modded framework, but the spinning circle problem remains.
I can't say for sure that the OC kernel broke it -- it could be one of a dozen apps I installed? -- but it's certainly the leading culprit in my case. The 5/13 OC kernel also appeared to break a few of my other apps as well (360 Live failed too, but started working again after I returned to vanilla n83).
I'm going to start the entire process over again tonight to try and narrow down the problem...
I have the 5/13 OC installed but HBO GO is now working on my Nook. Just need to uninstall and reinstall HBO GO. Worked like a charm for me.

Didn't work for me -- still stuck on spinning circle after intro clip plays.
I used TiBu to wipe data, uninstall, then install app. Did you reboot in between, or take any other steps?

We are going to fix this in CM soon. Please don't break every other program that uses IMEI to identify a UNIQUE device! I suggestion that no-one uses this. You are really playing with fire here.

I do appreciate your warning (and, as always, all your hard work), but Dal came out and stated plainly that an IMEI solution would not get added to cm7 builds, so the rest of us took his word for it and had to solve the problem some other way.
Now, if you're saying that the solution WILL be built into one of the next few nightlies -- with unique IMEI's -- then that's fantastic!!
However, without it, there's currently no other way to run HBO GO, Swype, etc -- unless we compile our own framework.jar... which isn't an option for some of us noobs.
Has work already begun on a better solution?

I meant the static IMEI hack as presented in this thread. This hack will not be added to CM7.
We are working on a real solution as we speak.

This is great news!!!
I will cease and desist as soon as it it completed. Obviously the best thing would be for people to follow mthe0ry's instructions and do this themselves (it's really not that hard) using their own unique IMEI number. That said I'm happy to continue the "hack" method for those who don't wish to do it themselves.
Yes, having multiple devices with the same IMEI could become problematic but so far it's worked for the apps people want. I do appreciate the warning as I probably wasn't as clear about the "hack" nature of this in the OP as I should have been.

please disregard below. in reading the thread better I can see it's not for swype at all but for setting the nook up with an IMEI.
I don't mean to be rude, but why not just use slide-it? I'm cognisant of the simplicity of swype as I use it daily on my Galaxy S, but slide-it is nearly as good and works without fault on the nook (rooted stock and CM7) without any mods.

Concerns about unique devices make me wonder... I have a broken HTC Kaiser sitting on a shelf above my desk. It will never again be a functional device, but yet it has it's own unique IMEI.
Does the IMEI alone tell apps anything about what sort of device belongs to the number? If not, then it seems that I could use the IMEI from that Kaiser or the broken G1 I have.
It doesn't seem like these apps know anything about the device from the IMEI alone, given that people have been implementing this fix with no repercussions. That means apps probably don't check any hypothetical IMEI-device info against what's recorded in the build.prop, so this seems like a safe, workable solution for those of us with defective devices on our shelves.
Is there a way to make this work on a ManualNootered nook with 1.2, or does it only work if you have a custom rom.
Thanks
integrate in CM7
could you not ask the maintainers of CyanogenMod to integrate this in the future nightlies?
they would probably welcome the added functionality

Same problem.. Radio 7.13.35.13.

SOLVED!
I solved this problem for me.
clear your /system/etc.conf (backup it before change), and paste this:
_pastebin.com/46q2CuEz
its russia ntp server, so get your country-address at pool.ntp.org/zone/@
Reboot, go into "GPS Status" application, clear your A-GPS data and download it. Thats all, solved.

Here too, but with Radio version 7.16.35.11. It shows I've locked onto GPS (with 0 satellites - ! ) but that I'm always at 38N 117W - somewhere in Nevada. I'm not. I'm near Houston, TX, roughly 25N 95W.
I've tested out clearing the agps data and letting it reload it. I've loaded several GPS apps (GPS Test, Angry GPS, GPS Status& Toolbox, GPS Essentials) in order to try to help get this right, but it doesn't seem to ever see a single satellite.
That is, until I installed the gps.conf that is posted in Munjeni's CM9 thread. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25746235&highlight=gps#post25746235
I had to remount /system r/w and (I know other stuff would work, but I used this) the Root Browser built into ROM Toolbox Lite. renamed the existing gps.conf, pasted in munjeni's gps.conf, and I can now see birds. I didn't have time to let it lock (I just walked over to the window at work to test it), but it found one, so I'm sure it will find more. That's one more than it ever found after I landed the ICS ROM on the Aria.
I also ran FasterFix against it. All it does is point to a geographically closer NTP server, so I'd call that step optional.

Tried to run this, but I can't even get into it. As soon as the phone boots, I get phone force-closing over and over, ad infinitum. I can do nothing else but hit OK on the FC message, and another one immediately pops up.
I'll take a look at phone fc when I get home. A logcat would help much, because it is working for gsm devices.

Is there any way to speed it up?
Very sluggish.
Perhaps I should just wait for improvements, as this is an alpha after all
Thanks for the release!

Update: Werp. After giving it a little while to "recover" from being a fresh install, it seems to have greatly sped itself up. Faster than 4.1, it seems to me. Could just be butt dyno, but 4.2 really does feel snappier.

Did you enable traces, force gpu rendering or disable HW overlays in the developer options?
It seems developer options are hidden in 4.2. Where'd they go?
Seeing a few new features like daydream and zooming in on the homescreen and within apps as well. Any news of a 4.2 compatible kernel?

Keep hitting build number in settings-about phone. Keep tapping it couple times and u will see a window saying you are now a developer and u will see it in settings.

pacman 4.3 port for (p769) updated 9/29/13

Must have unlocked bootloader and cwm installed.
So I wanted the 4.3 PACrom and was able toe port it. It wasn't too hard. I used antonx cm 10.2 as base and mateo1111 pacrom as port.
Everything works so far that I see. i just thought i would share. The WiFi is working on boot but I'm putting links to files in my dropbox if anyone wants to make this better. Thanks to everyone that made this possible.
Slimbean apps. http://db.tt/KUk1ug4e WiFi fix scripts. http://db.tt/Hq9GUcyk
(Old ROM link on 2nd page)
Okay so I updated the port and everything works great.
WiFi works without any scripts. No fc errors. No random reboots added leolawliet build prop and penderengine tweaks. runs great. This port is basically the same as mateo1111 all in one pacrom but made to use on p769
Minor fixes. Tweaks can be enabled or disabled in PAC settings init. Just like in mateo1111 all in one pacrom.other then that no other tweaks added.l9advanced settings app works. Surprisingly a lot smoother and faster and more stable then before no random reboots or any other problems so far.

updated rom link 9/29/13 https://db.tt/dIGIqJbN
Minor fixes
For tweaks check out @leolawliet thread
Everything's the same for installation. Wipe install ROM install gapps and reboot. No need to fix WiFi thanks to kuma82. WiFi is working on boot
All credit goes to ANTONX ,MATEO 1111 , AND KUMA82. And leolawliet.
SORRY FOR NOT MAKING THAT CLEAR.

I know you mean well but you can do a better job on giving credits
Plus you didn't even give me any credit for making those scripts. :what:
Actually, Lelus script is a lot cleaner to use.
Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Should I release my port? It's not plain PACrom JB anymore, added my tweaks.

Wifi working on fresh install
What's up people, thanks to @Lelus and a couple of other xda members (@zeppelinrox & @dk_zero-cool), I modified Lelus script a little, and it's a init.d.
The think I like about @Lelus method is the Wi-Fi MAC address is a spoof (it's not your real MAC address)
This guyyy (Italian voice) @Lelus :highfive:
So you won't have to use the other scripts I made, unless you want your real Wi-Fi MAC address shown.
anyways, here is what the script looks like
#!/system/bin/sh
while [ ! "`ps | grep [a]ndroid`" ]; do sleep 10; done;
busybox sleep 30
if [ -e /data/misc/wifi/config ]; then
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
busybox ifconfig wlan0 down
busybox rm /data/misc/wifi/config
busybox wifimac
busybox rm /system/etc/init.d/90kuma
exit 1
else
sh /system/etc/init.d/90kuma
fi
After the first boot, it's set to delete, so you won't ever see if you look in /etc/init.d
Anyone is welcome to include the script in your port
Since I'm a real nice guy, I uploaded the PAC 4.3 (ported by @twinnfamous) with the script included HERE
md5sum: 216cfd36237d3eb1fe7d444def082a9d
Note: I have not tried this on a dirty flash, soo... report your findings lol
ALL THANKS GO TO

@twinnfamous & @leolawliet (for saving me the time on porting it LOL)

Well for some reason WiFi just stopped working after a deep sleep, and rebooting it, did not help. I had to run the script again. It's a small price to pay for a spoofed Mac in my opinion. I really don't know what happened. I can turn it off/on and the WiFi sticks. Must have been a hiccup, I guess.

For some reason i think these phones on cm 10.1 and 2 and derived work have a deep sleep issue..i notice that while on cm if i press my mic on the BT headset to make a call it doesn't do anything..if i press power to wake then the BT signal even by passes the default lock screen as it should - on the tmo rom it wakes the phone and makes the call without me even have to touch the phone..so maybe that's something to look at in these phones with the cm rom..

just remove the "remove" part of the script and it will apply it on each reboot.
Code:
busybox rm /system/etc/init.d/90kuma
now time to fix Hybrid Properties in 4.2.2

right, but at least you've made a semi-permanent fix. keeps wifi going without having to run terminal commands after a flash. after every reboot wifi is solid everytime. thanks again @kuma82

Yeah, I had a lot of trial and errors before I was finally able to get it to work. I'm thinking I can lower the wait ttime, but I didn't want to put to much stress on the system at boot.
updated 4.3 pac
Here is link for updated port http://db.tt/DsLV6O7G
Updated base with antonx latest cm10.2 and added kuma82 script to init.d. So wifi works on first boot and every boot so far.
Seems alot smoother and faster and everything is working that I see. No random reboots even at 1350.
Big thanks to kuma82, antonx, lelus, mateo1111,and everyone else that helps make this possable.
pender engine works great
Pender engine and leolawliet build prop tweaks works great on this port. Here is link for pender engine. http://d-h.st/WKN
U can take out boot animation and no frills is not needed as overclocking options is built in settings performance app. Thanks again leolawliet
Your work is great.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that I can get this working on my phone. I'm so tired of stock firmware.
