hi friends,
i have an intl 16 gb sgs3. Today i flashed a custom rom and flashed some mods. after flashing rom phone was fine but after flashing mods phone stuck at "samsung galaxy s3 gt-i9300" screen-the first screen when opening the phone(the mods i have flashed are visual mods, and also hardswap mod which i was using before with no problem). i tried a cwm restore, reflashing the rom, wiping datas, reflashing stock rom with odin but no luck. searched widely in xda for bootloops and tried solutions like flashing new kernels or cf rooting again. even if i tried a pit file but my s3 is not passing that screen. only progress i recorded is when i flash siyah kernel i can see siyah kernel's boot logo but stuck there also.
is there anyone here to help me?
Reflash the rom, your mods was probably incompatible with your rom.

reflashed rom, and other roms and also stock rom with odin. but no luck.
Wrong PIT i guess .Flashing a PIT is a common cause of a non booting or bricked SGS3.
jje
i have progress. i managed to open s3 in 4.0.4 blj1 firmware but now it says the phone is in factory mode in a popup after i restart it. also no imei, no csc, nothing. i restored my efs backup to /efs folder nothing fixed. tried to install 4.1.2 stock again but stuck at splash screen again.
i flashed the pit file after the problem-as a solution and nothing was changed.
so now i have a gs3 without phone capabilities.
edit: my phone is not a clone, i forgot to write that.
I found the solution. I flashed android 4.0.4 old firmware for my region and after that i restored my efs. Then i flashed 4.1.2 and voila! My s3 booted. Im noting here that solution maybe it helps someone.
Thanks for all comments fellas.

try to wipe it at the first ,if it can't work try 2nas Android Flash Tools.
2nas.com
Provides :
1: Integrates Unbrick / Flash ROM / Root All-In-One.
2: Use the same protocol as ODIN, but 2nas is more user-friendly and easy-to-use.
3: Cloud based database to flash your android phone with correct files(ROM, etc)
4: Automatically download necessery files to flash, and check them with SHA1, it's safe for your phone.
5: Store all downloaded files in local disk, under a good directory structure, it's usefull when you have several phones.

hi there!
I just wanted to ask you all if this has happened to you guys.
You know that when you download a stock firmware from from wherever you get you get the file in .ZIP
so when you open it up, and extract it, you may see 5 files, modem, csc...etc.
but from 4.0.4 samsung firmwares doesnt show this 3 important files which are PHONE, and CSC, it only shows me 1 file.
and whenever I add it to PDA section on ODIN, it goes OK but after, it gets stuck at the boot logo forever, so the only way to solve this is to flash again with odin but with firmwares with those 3 files manually to make it work.
does this have anything to do with the brick bugs? cause I have never had it on 4.0.4 stock firmwares and wipe does not brick my phone up

From memory, I believe wiping dalvik cache can help get past boot logo but I don't remember whether that was for custom roms or stock.

a) 1 file firmware is normal.
b) you need to perform factory reset in stock recovery. Nothing should go wrong
c) your issue is not related to brick bug. the solution is in b)
d) if you have any fear to perform factory data reset in stock recovery, then flash Siyah kernel (.tar) via Odin then boot to recovery and perform factory data reset.
Just one question... Ae you aware of emmc Superbrick Bug?
Peace

Yes I am aware of its danger and brick bug thingy, but I usually do not wipe on stock samsung kernels and recoveries. But I did with my cm9 rom and checked with an app and it said i had the brickbug thingy but it didnt do nothing even with wipes, i wonder what that apps is telling me.
Dear All,
I am a complete noob to android (only purchased by galaxy s3 2 weeks ago) and I was using Omega Rom 27.1, siyah kernel 1.6.5 and I messed up using tool (H-ktool) to restore my efs using a backed up efs.img file. The result is that my galaxy s3 now stuck in boot loop, though I still have access to CWM recovery.
I have read all the parts about unrooting and restore to stock firmware but the problem is I do not know my phone CSC (I never paid any attention ... noob), and also I'm not very clear on restoring to stock firmware either using Odin (as I use a mac).
I have also tried wiping, formatting everything using CWM and reflash Omega 27.1 (as I currently have no other firmware file, the download speed is very slow and I do not know my CSC..)
So my question is what can I do now, do I need a window computer to check my phone CSC and also use odin to restore stock firmware, will that help? and also how can I check my CSC
So noob ..
[Solved]
I am unable to flash any roms through cwm, and can only do it through odin. Flashing through cwm results in the phone not loading past the boot logo.
I formatted sd card in cwm, thinking it would only restore to factory settings, not knowing it would completely wipe everything.
From then i was unable to even see the boot logo or recovery mode, but luckily download mode still worked.
So i flashed the stock rom through odin, but it still plays up. Now the battery doesn't last more than 1 day, and constantly freezes.
Now whenever i install anything in cwm, as soon as i reboot, it goes to the bootscreen and freezes. I have tried at least 5 different roms and the same story each time, So each time i have to reflash stock rom with odin.
So any ideas to why this is? any help is appreciated. I have tried ultimate kernel wipe cleaner , or whatever it is called as well.
[Solved]
I just reflashed stock ICS in odin, and ticked the 're-partition' box. the repartition file is called " u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit ". Now it works good as new and I'm currently running PACman rom on 4.3. gg guys.
Just to check, but you have factory reset after flashing the new ROM from CWM right?
Try these steps :
1. Flash ROMNuke script by hawkerpaul. (it's a ROM nuke, not just a kernel nuke)
2. Flash ROM in CWM.
3. Boot.
I know it sounds simple, but that's got me out of a few odd bootloop /failed flash situations. Give it a go.
Then, if that doesn't work, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash & try again.
One more thing, what kernel are you trying to flash the ROM from in CWM? Try a different one, say siyah. I've sometimes seen where a particular kernel won't flash but another will for no apparent reason.

it was stock ics cwm i think?, also another thing when I install a new rom, when it shows the progress bar, it goes up to 3 quarters then it skips the rest and says update completed (I just tried Romnuke and same story). I have also tried siyah kernel and it just freezes at the siyah kernel instead. Im currently stuck on stock ICS 4.0.2
Not sure what you mean by 'stock ICS CWM'?
And just to make sure, you definitely have an i9100 right? Not a variant, i9100g etc? Just asking as 4.0.2 was never released for i9100, only 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 (stay away from that one)
So now, re-download the ROM which you're attempting to flash, and try again after the ROMNuke script. Does the script run successfully? Or does it have errors /messages which indicate it didn't run successfully?

All good. And also good that you have an i9100.
Ok, so have you tried the things I said?
1. Try flashing from a different kernel (your choice, try one other than Siyah)
2. Re-download the ROM & reflash with Nuke script then ROM.

5 months later I found the answer when messing with odin. What you do is tick the 're-partition' box, and then in the 'pit' sections you need the partition file i guess, for the i9100 its called u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit . hope this helps anyone else who may have this problem
I tried to put custom recovery for i9100 via odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
I wanted to flash unofficial CM11 to replace official 4.1.2
Flashed .tar.md5 now phone won't boot, but it can enter recovery and download mode. (Options ticked were Auto-reboot and F. Reset Time)
Then I downloaded stock firmware 4.1.2 and tried to flash. It stucks at NAND write start.
Then I tried to flash another kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
Same thing. In recovery I did wipe data/cache, same thing, display remains blank on power on.
Please help. Thanks in advance.
You need to get a successful Odin flash of stock to give you a 'clean slate' to start again (with flashing a custom rom/whatever) from. Find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in it, you should be able to get it done with the suggestions in the thread.
Thanks, it was phone from friend and it scared me to death
I flashed earlier Gio and realized I can flash kernel in zip, so that phone is now running CM11, but this info might come in handy when he wants to get back to stock. Also, I'm getting this phone next week, so it's good to know workaround if I run into a problem.
Yep knowing how to recover is a must before you start flashing stuff. If you're getting an S2, download at least one stock rom for your carrier/country from Samfirmware & keep it on your PC w/Odin in case you ever need it.
^+1.......and also make sure you have a working (official Samsung) USB lead......(or even more than one)
sent from either my Alliance powered S2 or my ArcoCM powered W via XDA Developers App
And make sure you have backed up your efs folder too. Something like ktool is good for this. Get it from playstore. And a good working nandroid is a must.
hi. i've flashed official 4.4 via odin in my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9305). but it stucks on WELCOME screen. Welcome screen is screen which appears after SAMSUNG logo, from where i can select language and access accessibility settings. i tried different custom roms too but phone stucks on WELCOME screen (basically setup screen). I can't move further because everytime i restart or flash new rom it stucks.
any idea how to get rid of this.
REMEMBER: it's not bootloop error. Phone boots properly but after the SAMSUNG logo on the set up screen (which i'm calling WELCOME screen) it stuck.
Have you done a factory reset in recovery mode, after flashing the rom via odin?

Yes, i did.
The main problem i was facing is that after flashing custom rom there was null imei and UNKNOWN baseband version. Then i install hyper rom but didn't helped. Then i install omni 4.4 rom but didn't help. Then i flashed N4Elite rom but stuck on welcome screen... Then i download official firmware but still stuck at welcome screen.
Did you perform a factory reset after flashing the latest stock ROM using stock recovery as suggested by @rodman1 ?

Kindly guide me. Right now I've 2 issues:
1: Null imei/unknown baseband version.
2: stuck on welcome screen.
Kindly send the links of official firmware (you suggest) and pit file.
Is there any Modem.bin file which will resolve my Null imei issue if flashed ?
*I'm from Pakistan so choose firmware according to my region.
Thanks in advance.

I've searched about country code. On a xda forum i found that south africa, pakistan, algeria, oman, kuwait etc have same code. I think South African based (vodafone) will be suitable. Although my uncle sent this i9305 from south africa.
Maybe you can find some help in the S3 African thread or ask there?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=447035869
In i9305 section I haven't found much infos, if I search for south africa and/or pakistan.
Otherwise I would try an other samsung stock version, and than its try and error. In i9305 section is also a thread with several modems, there you can also download and try different possibilities.
Edit just to make clear: modems for the i9300 won't work with the i9305
Edit2: there are 2 vodafone versions for South Africa on sammobile.....see attached

I'm downloading 4.3 (first one-XFV)... I'll let you know about this new stock rom.
I tried to flash stock rom(soith african) via odin but couldn't flash. Odin is giving red error FAILED!.... I tried the same file which i flashed 3 days ago, at that time it was successful but today it's getting failed. Why is it so?
Help!!!
Post the Odin log so we can see the exact error.
If you can still access download mode you need to flash the latest stock i9305 firmware. Stock firmware is the only way.
**The biggest tip I can give you is to flash the stock firmware, boot to recovery, factory reset, flash stock firmware AGAIN. This makes sure any old remnants are obliterated from memory, forcing all partitions to be reflashed. **
If you cannot access download mode then you will have to try the kies method. Don't hold your breath as you can still be sorely disappointed. It will be nothing short of a miracle if we get this phone booted ever again.
Good luck!.
Thank you all guys.
Bisically i was facing two issues at a time.1:Stuck on Welcome screen. 2:Null imei/unknown baseband versiin. MY ISSUES ARE RESOLVED NOW and my phone is working fine. Here are those steps i performed:
1: Downloaded official firmware according to my region (south africa based for me).
2: This room contained sboot.bin file and odin was not able to flash this file and was giving error. So i just extracted whole .tar file(official firmware ****.tar). Deleted this SBOOT.BIN file and again packed all file (excluding sboot.bin) into .tar file.
3: Flashed this modified .tar via odin.
4: This time process was successful and no error in flashing.
5: On restart my phone was stuck on White samsung logo not the blue one. On research i found that PARAM.BIN file is missing which is responsible for all logos and images etc.
6: So i downloaded this file for my i9305. Extracted the .tar file again. Copy paste this PARAM.BIN in folder where i extracted files and after that packed all file in .tar file.
7: Flashed again via odin. Flash was successful as well as white samsung logo issue was resolved. But now phone stuck on Blue samsung logo (bootloop).
8: For bootloop issue, i put my phone in recovery mode using Home+Volume up+Power button simultaneously.
9: Performed Wipe Cache, Factory Reset and Restart.......... Et Voila ..... My phone is working fine now. No bootloop and this also resolved my NULL IMEI issue as well. :good:
