Not sure if I'm in the right place, I have just bought a star note n9700. It was shipped with jelly bean which I wasnt expecting, only problem is I can't get the 3g to work.
I'm on Vodafone UK, I have tried to add a new VPN using Vodafone's instructions, please help

I am considering this phone, is it the same as yours (N9700)?

Simple question: I own a SGH-i717M (bell) unlocked/unbranded Note and I would like to change the provider's firmware to be a SGH-i717D (Telus) as its my current provider and I wont get the ICS release without this modification. Id also like to flash it with the Telus stock ROM before getting the update (I think I found it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634321)
Im comfortable with the technical terminology but am pretty new to the mobile world when it comes to such modifications so id appreciate any advice
Can someone direct me to proper instructions or guide to proceed? Or explain me why this would be impossible to achieve?

Hi all,
I was used my phone since last april with multiple carriers.Last sunday i have updated my phone in to Official leaked JB. Since that update my phone locked and does not acceppt any of sim. I tried every method except GalaxySim. I know it wil be good solution, but i don't have electronic payment method. So i cant buy apps from Google Pay. I have my efs folder and i tried extract hashes and decrypt using Odiya's method, but it's not worked.
I tried different firmwares. Now i have backed to official ICS for my country(Sri Lanka). But phone is still network locked. I bought this phone from a seller and he told me he imported it from South Africa.
Please, if any of you can help me get my phone live again. I have nv_data.bin and can provide it anyone willing to help me. Thank you....

I just able to unlocked using GalaxySim. I used credit card of friend of mine. Thanks all..

The developer is a nice guy.....hes even got a thread on here that allows members of xda to download and use his program for FREE.
Yeah.. He is excellent guy. I tried free one. Its not worked. Then i followed odiy's method and try to Brute force the cide. Its not worked. Finally i unlocked by using paid app. Now i'm on ICS official. If i tried again leaked JB, will my phone locked again.

The app is free but the unlock costs.

Think Galaxsim doesnt work becouse im not root.
When triend to root getting error that sdcard isnt found.
so much problems please help 3 days without cellphone.

I'm having the same problem as OP...
So to use the app you need to be rooted but to use siyah's and ODIN u need to be network unlocked...
Any ideas?

I don't see the relation but well, there are other ways to root your device you know...like flashing cwm + su thru recovery.....

Got it to work... Just used Odin 1.83 instead of 3.0 and it worked... don't know what changed

Older Odin versions sometimes work better than newer ones.

It is unlocked by default
Its unlocked. Golan works great. Google probably would confirm that.

My fassy was froyo (original) when bought its been rooted and running 4.1.1 CM9 now. I am selling it and customer needs to know if it will get 4G or is it always going to be 3G speed?

1. android 4.1.1 would be cm10, not cm9. unless you're selling a phone with android 4.0.4, which would be cm9. don't confuse the customer.
2. this phone has a 3G radio only, no 4G.

you need the specific rom for that device. can't use a rom for a fascinatemtd on a different phone
Huh? You saying that rom i have installed isn't supposed to work? Maybe im confused to where we are in the thread i just switched to xda app and seemed to be behind compared to chrome on desktop

Skep, i believe his new phone (or phone he is posting from) is the s2 t989 and old phone is fascinate.
The most stable 4.4 rom in my opinion right now is paranoid android beta 3

obviously there is no magic involved here if the phone didn't support 4g from the factory then it never will you are talking about differneces in hardware
something you *should* know by now
also I don't recommenced selling a phone preloaded with cyanogen mod the customer may have issues getting it to activate with verizon afaik last I checked you can not activate a phone running cyanogen mod you need to be running the stock firmware first activate THEN flash to whatever
Im more of a software guy never once had or will have verizon as a carrier or sprint so I wasnt sure and the guy asked so as a stand up guy instead of bull****ting him to sell the phone i asked and phone is advertised with cm rom installed and also for the choice to be flashed back to the powerwashed 2.3.4 GB so thanks for the input but I do *KNOW* how to list and sell a phone.
