I've scoured the internets looking for an answer and haven't been able to find one. I want to know if there's a way to force Chrome to always open up a new browser tab when opening a link from an app. For example: I frequently use the reader app, and when I click on a link to open in Chrome, it opens it in the same tab as the one for the last link that I clicked. Furthermore, the browsing history isn't saved so I can use the back button to view what I have opened before.
Is there a way to force Chrome to always open up a new tab when I click on a link? Thanks in advance.
(BTW, I'm on a rooted Nexus 4,but I'm not sure that's relevant)
Not sure about the opening tab part (sorry lol) but I do know that if you type in chrome://history it gives you your history

Was wondering if you guys could help me to find an app to do this? Certain sites like ebay go straight to their mobile version when I try to access it on my phone... I want to be able to go to the full versions of websites ask the time. Is there an app that would block sites from being able to read that I'm on a phone? Thanks

You can change your browser settings to make it look like mozilla or anything you want. Try reading google or anywhere else instead of posting questions with answers everywhere.
@fenixnr. You can't do that on the stock browser anymore. Don't be a troll.
@ O.P. you have to use an alternate browser for that. Try dolphin HD. Then look in the setting and change the user agent to desktop.

If you're running any 2.2 ROM, you can use the stock browser to view non-mobile sites by typing "about:useragent" (without the quotes) into the address bar and selecting "Desktop" from the dialog that comes up.
Aside from that, you will need to use another browser from the Market.
The ucweb has the function you looking for. It is the most popular mobil browser in China. I don't know if there is a English version.

I'm sorry if I chose the wrong section.
I want to ask you if anyone knows a program that as a feature similar to the "Activity" window in Safari, that lets me know which files the website I'm visiting is downloading with their URL, like a sort of "URL capturing". It's a quite famous feature since a lot of people use it to download songs and films from YouTube.
Does anyone know an application which brings this possibility on an Android phone or tablet?

Thank you, nyloncrack, but this wasn't what I was looking for. Yes, I said that the Activity window in Safari is often used by people to download video from YouTube, but my aim wasn't this. I was just looking for a program to see all the files downloaded by a page with their URL.

Hey guys, did a quick Google search on this and didnt see any answers to this bizarre quirk.
I am on non-rooted ICS (stock) - no comments from the peanut gallery about this. Once CM is stable enough that I feel I can use it, Ill switch.
Now, on to the problem.
I installed Chrome and set it to the default browser (but Ill probably change it considering what Im about to post) and set the home page to google.
I begin typing a search query, for example, 'Samsung AT&T No' and Google presents some suggestions of what it thinks Im going to actually search for. Tapping ANY of these suggestions hides the suggestion list and does NOT fill in my query with the suggestion I tapped. In addition, the keyboard is also hidden until I tap in the query edit field again.
In addition, Id like to just state for the record, xda is TERRIBLE on mobile (the website). I dont know what this new 'theme' is but it is barely functional on mobile, on the desktop, the website is completely broken in Firefox (14.0.1 w/ No Script and Tree Style Tabs plugins installed - and yes, I am enabling scripting for XDA).
So, I have reverted to the old xda theme until this is fixed.
BUT, does anyone know what is wrong with Chrome?

if you click the arrow next to the auto complete search query it will fill it in for you.

Yeah I was having this same issue. I am rooted and using the stock browser, same goes for the google search widget. But the answer above solves the problem.

I tried this but mine still doesnt work. Everytime i click the suggestion it just disappears

I'm not entirely sure this is only a Nexus 10 problem ... But I noticed yesterday that links have stopped working on some sites in chrome and boat browsers. The Guardian website for example. The link highlights on touch but does not open the relevant page. The only way I can get it to work is to long-press the link, then open the link from the popup menu.
This only seems to be a problem on the desktop version of a site, and is not happening in Firefox.
Can someone try this out to see of they have the same issue?

Yes having exact same problem.. Asus TF201 Chrome desktop site
Its only on the Guardian's website..
link will open in a new tab.. long press the link.

Thats exactly my first thought!
Its only happened since they launched their new mobile layout, but the desktop version is so good on a tablet.

I love to read Charles Authur's completely biased one way thinking..an apple-nazi if ever there was one..
I have been searching for a solution, but its not so easy to analyse their HTML from my tablet..
when I boot up my PC I'll have a good look at their html to see why it's causing the problem in chrome
I do notice that the first time I go there the first link will work.
have you found any other sites where the links don't work?

Seems to be working again now.
Sorry if this is in the wrong selection I just need to know, can you build an app that can open up the browser within the app and stay there? There a app on the play store and all it does is opens up a new browser tab to a certain website.

Yes this can be done easily by Using Xposed Framework. U have to Download a Module named 'ActivityForceNewTask'.
Would it work like in this video http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/05/ki...t-in-browser-that-works-with-any-mobile-site/ ? that what I'm looking for, I had quite the heated discussion with some dev's at a trade event.
