Hi,
I am wondering how well the Droid DNA plays games because I want to buy a new phone and in particular want to play games like NOVA 3, Modern Combat 4, Dead Trigger, Need for Speed, Asphalt 7, Wild Blood etc. But especially NOVA 3 as that seems to be the most demanding game on the market right now. Do these game lag badly or are they playable?
Thank you in advance!

Thankyou, I had my reservations about performance with the 1080P screen but it seems to be fine!

So who has downloaded the tegra 2 version of the game? I just got it and I would recommend using wifi to get it took for ever with out wifi. So far it seems pretty good. I am blown away by how good the graphics are. The controls take a little getting use to. I can see my self blowing a lot of time on this game. So far I have only played alone with it. I can say this much its pretty hard if you don't have other people in your party lol.
I bought it, and I love it also! I'm debating shelling out the 5 dollars for Samurai II, as I've heard great reviews for it.
I was trying to figure out which one to get. I'm to cheap to buy them both lol. I figure this way I can try and con some friends into getting it for ps3 360 or pc so we can all play together. I tried the first level alone and I beat it but yea it was pretty hard doing it alone.
I played Samurai for a couple of hours expecting it to get better and more interesting... but it's just the same the whole time... press two buttons then run to next place.

OMG Samurai II is AWESOME! Def. worth it graphics wise and "cool factor." But as stated above it is fairly repetitive!
If any of you guys have experience, how do these games compare with Gameloft games like Modern Combat and Assasin's Creed?

I never played assassins creed on a mobile. Prior to the Atrix I was using a fruit phone. the only game like it I played was resident evil. The virtual D pad takes some getting use to other then that its pretty easy. 3 main buttons 2 attack and one to open the options to build traps and stuff. There is also a smaller button for jumping. They did a good job with the UI on the game.
Anyone try any of these out? I dont want to waste my $$ if they suck on the SGT
Ive done lets golf. Worked fine.

Which version? 2? 2HD? What model did you download it for?
please answer!
Man these forums are dead =\
I've tried most of Gameloft's portfolio, and I've experimented with versions for many different devices. Unfortunately, even if they do run, they don't seem to run correctly. I've been using the HD versions, and they all run in a very small area in the middle of the screen. It seems that Gameloft has a bit of work to do on the optimization front. They just got around to optimizing most of their catalog for the Galaxy Tab 7, and they are starting to optimize some games for the Xoom, so we should be seeing some of their more popular games within a few weeks. If you're looking for high quality games, you should download the Tegra zone app and check out the games in there. I can say from experience that Riptide GP, Gun Brothers, and Galaxy on Fire 2 are amazing.
Gameloft's Asphalt 6 HD works fine too
No issues with the game on GT10.1
-Asphalt 6 is good. Theres quite a few cars, it's not really much different than Asphalt 5 though.
-N.O.V.A. HD kinda worked. It FC'd too much to play though and the controls were badly messed up.
-Modern Combat 2 boots up through the video at the beginning, but crashes instantly after.
-Spider Man also FC's alot like N.O.V.A. If it didn't FC as much as it does it would be alright.
I'll update this list as I try more, but so far it is just a ton of failure except for Asphalt 6. The graphics were fine.

I agree with your suggestions, but I don't know if Riptide is worth the money. It only has like 4 tracks and then it does all of the tracks in reverse and they all look the same.

Yeah, that's true, $7.00 for 6 tracks is a bit overpriced. The graphics are nice, if not a bit boring, but the other games are quite awesome. I also like Cordy, Apparatus, and I'm really looking forward to a few of the upcoming games in the tegra zone. Arma II looks awesome, Trainz Simulator (if reasonably priced) might be fun, and I'm just waiting for Monster Madness to launch.
Was on engadget today and saw that rockstar is going to release GTA 3 for the following devices.
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
Think we have a shot or not enough power?
We definitely don't have enough power because we can barely run any of the higher end games (shadowgun) I'm sure that well be able to get it running, but probably terribly. Also this game doesn't even have that great of graphics... just bad optimization

Shadowgun runs fine for me on one of the later nightlies overclocked to 1.2ghz. I also have GangStar running with no issues to.

GT racing, Asphalt 6, Modern Combat 2, Sacred Odyssey all run great for me. That being said with Gameloft already having Gangstar (which runs great BTW) there isn't much need for an actual GTA. GTA3 might be worth it if there was a way to put the Real GTA mod on it.
fine, fine maybe shadowgun was a bad example but what about 9mm, riptide, fast five, dungeon defenders, etc. those don't even force you to have a dual core device... remember we're pushing 1024x600(thats 614,400) pixels of 3D on old hardware... also I'm not so sure about the definition of "it runs fine" these days. Some people seem to convince themselves that things run great when they're not (myself included)

How did you get the crosshair in the middle, the damage indication, and the dragable looking area to fill the whole screen??? I've tried tons of different versions to no avail I've even looked at your thread and used the version listed to no avail. thanks in advance
yea gangstar makes gta3 look kind of dated.
I did notice a bunch of slowdowns trying high quality games on my Nook however a second later I noticed I was running on the conservative governor and facepalmed myself.
Switched to performance governor and everything was a breeze...
One way or another, we won't know until it's released, right?
I wouldn't be surprised if it runs. The NC is a little gem. That said, how is it going to playable on a touchscreen? And... an honest question... is GTA III really that fun? I just picked it up in a steam pack and it didn't take too long for me to move onto Vice City (and then stop playing that a little while later). It'll probably be more impressive to run on a phone/tablet but it felt like an early tech demo compared to a lot of "modern" games.

The entire screen is bound to controls, take a look at the picture of it on engadget... its a little overwhelming
Touchscreen controls urgh...
I still pair a PS3 Controller via Bluetooth every time I play PS1 / N64 games on my Nook... I really hope they add Bluetooth Controller support to the game.
Yeah, having real controller support would be nice. I did see the screenshots, and it's just really hard to play games with a virtual d-pad and even just *two* buttons (to me), let alone 6 or 8, especially when it includes what are supposed to be shoulder buttons.
On a side note, I mucked around a little with the onlive app, and that suffers from the same thing (the virtual controls). That said, OnLive does have newer, more compelling games, although it requires a constant, good data connection.
Nook Color seems to me to be able to push Dreamcast level graphics at 1024x600. Most games with that level of graphics seem to run at around 20-30fps at best.
The main reason GTA3 is so much more demanding than seems reasonable is that it's a sandbox game with a large, open world. It's not all that much different than say Elder Scrolls.
Game is out now and market says it should work on the NC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3 Anyone got it to work?
It hangs Nook dead rght after intro movies. CM 7.1.0 Stable.
With chainfire nvidia plugin, screen stays black upon launching the app
soooo I take it as a no go. Darn. Well it works on my electrify but as stated earlier the controls take up way to much room. I'll try a wiimote I guess.
Anyone have any luck getting this to run? Would think it would be possible to and to control it with a PS3 controller connected via bluetooth.
Got it to work! Download GTA 3 version 1.1, use chainfire 3D and set default plugin to POWERVR, awful cellphone video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKN9QRGq09E
EDIT: Will test more in the morning, jump to 1:00 to see 30 seconds of "gameplay" before I flip the car
why do we have to use the powervr plugin? nook color actually has a powervr gpu
I didnt need any plug in. I installed CM7 last night and gta was in "my apps" and it runs better than on my shift. Lol

I own a galaxy s3 and i recently sold my nexus 7. I primarily used my nexus 7 for games and comics and when i had some unexpected financial crap pop up the tablet was the first thing to go. I kinda wish i didnt sell it. Now ive gotten to looking around for different tablets and found the nexus 10 to be a sexy device, looks and feeling wise, but ive read that it has a ridiculous resolution that has very few optimized apps for it. i wondering if any of you might have any of the games ive collected off humble bundle on your nexus 10s and how well they work.
anomaly korea
avadon the black fortress
beat hazard ultra
bladeslinger
canabalt
cogs
contre jour
crayon physics deluxe
dungeon defenders
dynamite jack
eufloria
machinarium
metal slug 3
nightsky
plants vs zombies
solar 2
splice
super hexagon
sword and sworcery
swords and soldiers
the room
waking mars
zen bound 2
The only one I've had problems with it Machinarium, it had a very very bad framerate when I tried it on my n10. No problem with any other though.

i cant honestly say ive played or will play all of these games but im most concerned with machinarium, sword&sworcery, waking mars, and plants vs zombies.
One thing to remember is the Nexus 10 is primarily a media consumption device. Whereas the Nexus 7 is a gaming tablet. The Nexus 7 plays games for better then the Nexus 10 does.

hmm..i really dont have any graphic intensive games i plan on playing though. it couldve just been my internet service but i felt like my nexus 7 was slow on the internet browsing department. is there a real difference between the internet speeds between the 7 and the 10?
back to the gaming department.. the stuff i play the most are machinarium, sword n sworcery, plants vs zombies, organ trail, rayman, simpsons tapped out, jet pack joyride, league of evil, world of goo, and the GTAs

The I/O speed is terrible on the Nexus 7, and and I personally think the Tegra chips such for anything but gaming. I have a Nexus 7 as well and there is a big browsing difference

:cyclops: Hello guys, are you test this game on our TF300 Pad, i found some lag, not smooth like MC4.
My current ROM is CromiX 5.0.2
And you?

Dunno about the Transformer Pad, but on the Nexus 7 2012 on SmoothRom 5.2 overclocked to 1.6GHz and its the same issue. Friends ofnmine with the Galaxy S4 and Note 2/3 have purchased it and its the same issue. Reviews on the Google Play store say the same. Lag, sticky/laggy/innacurate controls, etc.
Its not us, they need lots of preformance improvements on their behalf. Also remember every game dev team is different. Look at what Glu Mobile did to Black Ops Zombies, they totally killed it. Besides, the game is pretty new, they have lots to work on. So far no glitches, just tremendous lag. If my Tegra 3 isn't cutting it, nor the latest Exynos and Snapdragon, I'm more than sure its on Activision's side. I have yet to hear from an NVIDIA Shield owner.
