So, using extweaks I see that theres a zram setting thats default is off. I have a couple questions about it. To my understanding, enabling it adds more usable ram for the android system, but it uses cpu to compress it right? So does this mean that it uses more battery life as well? or by adding more ram, will it save battery life because its not having to reorganize system resources all the time. I don't quite understand how it works.
someone enlighten me. My main question is, does it negatively or positively impact battery performance.
thanks
I don't know much about how it works, but I can tell you when I tried to use it it slowed down my system. No positive effects noticed.

More cpu work load = more battery drain , so yes theoretically zram will decrease your battery life but i don't have numbers to prove it . Also your kernel must support zram to use it . I haven't seen a huge performance increase or the like enabling it but multitasking seems more smooth or so it feels to me .

Hey guys, I recently bought SetCPU and I noticed a nice feature, allowing me to set profiles for different apps, or battery levels.
That is nice and all but I dont know what is the best minimum or maximum CPU level for best battery life.
Im not looking for best performance but I dont want it to lag either.
care to help?
thanks
I find google then search .

You can even read all the identical posts found via search .

Hello, could anyone please tell me what some good settings on set cpu , for a rooted T-Mobile Alcatel one touch fierce would be ,

I don't have the same phone as you but Intellidemand / Zen (governor / schedular) seem to be a winning combination for performance vs battery life but it will probably vary from ROM to ROM and supposes the kernel you've installed supports it.
Perhaps you could say what you're hoping to achieve? Max battery life (slow the CPU down) vs performance.

Oh, sorry, I'm hoping to max battery life and maybe speed up the phones performance, (if possible) I got the paid app from the market even though we don't have the same phone but if you could share your settings I guess its better than the factory settings
Once again thank you, and sorry I forgot to put what I was hoping to achieve in my original post

You have to choose. Best performance or best battery. If you want the best compromise then like I said, Intellidemand and zen if your kernel supports them.
I'm not sharing settings as we have different phones and different Kernels so it'd be pointless.
I used to have lots of profiles for various times of day, screen on, screen off etc but now I pretty have two. One for general (min and max are whatever the kernel allows) and a profile for low battery where it max's the CPU at 30-50% whatever is max and changes to the conservative governor.

Ok see didn't know that, so I would choose performance over battery life then I am new to this and don't want to brick my phone I bricked a rooted android trying to change a boot animation using root explorer so just trying to be careful, also if you could help me with the "MHz" settings it would be great to the choices are 497, 754 ,988 & 1209 that would be great to
I have all the good root apps titanium backup pro root explorer pro and a lot others, but lol I just don't know how to use them yet...any knowledge on a boot animation logo change would be appreciated to I learned a little after I bricked ny phone I know that I didn't put it in the right folder but every post I read people say it bricked their phone so maybe I should staw away from it until I am a little bit more experienced idk.
But for cpu performance would be what I would choose
Thanks again..
Hey guys can you recommended me the best CPU & GPU OC settings for good Battery life and good Performance? Im using this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nel-kernel-aosp-roms-stweaks-synapse-t2222843
Hi all, I'm happy with LOS performance during light and medium tasks, but my device stutters more than I'd like during heavy tasks (e.g. maps, waze, etc) and app switching. Since battery life has been great, I'm willing to sacrifice some SOT for a more buttery UX. If that's even possible...
I started by changing performance profile from balanced mode to performance mode... and I can honestly say I don't notice a difference.
Now I'm just starting to experiment with changing the CPU and GPU governors using Kernel Adiutor. I've changed both little/big CPUs and GPU from interactive to performance. I'm not sure how to measure the results, but my feeling is that all around performance has increased, but the device still struggles with heavy tasks and app switching.
Anyone else have success tweaking? Please share your methods

Hi,
Use may be a custom kernel to tweak more.
And here a thread to know about tweaks:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/ref-to-date-guide-cpu-governors-o-t3048957
The best perf i got is with CPU gov bluactiv and io schedulers tripndroid.
But i did not tweaks all possible values.
I guess a lag will always be present as we have 2gb RAM phone
Disable fsync, set governor to darkness and scheduler to maple.

you can use custom kernel and increase performance
i set my governers to lionfish and disable fsync and i/o sceduler to maple its works great

Thanks both for the replies. What kernel do you use? And is there a trade-off when disabling fsync?

You can search for it for more info. But TL;DR, fsync prevents data loss when a sudden power outage happens. For example, you are saving something then you accidentally restart your phone for some reason, there is a chance, repeat, a chance of data loss. A whole year of having it disabled, I haven't had any loss.

Was working in parallel thanks for the TL;DR. For anyone following this thread, here's more info fsync https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244162.

using HD kernel with spectrum..its pretty good,,
new Astral kernel is looking good..its in beta stage but working perfectly fine

changing data and cache partition to f2fs make it really smooth.
and with HD kernel it makes it even smoother.
Again for anyone following, here's a link to popular HD kernel for Honor 5x, https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/kernel-hotdog-2-0-1-t3544887
While gaming, set the governor to performance for maximum smoothness.
