Hey guys!
I've just rooted my phone and i would like your opinions on the best custom roms for the galaxy S3
I have already tried CM10 and AOKP... But with CM10 there is a bit of delay on the lockscreen, and that annoys me ALOT!
About AOKP; i cant connect to WiFi ?!
But anyway, I'll appreciate any help, thanks!
Jeeez, read the rules already - 4 million threads on 'what's the best ROM for me' and you have to start another?
Get ready to be locked!
Asking for rom recommendations aren't allowed. As for lags on lockscreen, it's like that with all the roms.

sorry
sorry, i wont do it again :crying:
I think that you are already doing the right thing and trying out different roms to see how they work for your particular needs. I'm using Temasek at the moment, however, thats not to say that it is the best rom, its just suits my needs. I also switch on a regular basis to Liquidsmooth, AOKP, CM10.1 and ParanoidAndroid just to try out the new features - thats the beauty of having an Android phone!
Just keep on trying the numerous roms to be found and find one that you like the feel of. Once you've sorted your rom, you can move on to finding which Kernel suits your needs too....
Good luck.
Try omega rom search from play store

you shouldn't really ask which is the best ROM, but with the ROMs currently not showing in the search function on the forum at the moment I think you can be a little forgiven lol
You are best just trying the different ones out, i know it can be a bit of a pain to flash and setup each one but youll find one in the end that you like, or you will keep flashing a new one each week as a lot of people here do (GUILTY).
The one i kept on the longest is UltimaROM, the dev is very active and welcomes requests. Version 8.1.1 is very stable and nice to use.
OmegaROM is good as mentioned above.
Both of these are 4.1.2 Samsung Based ROM
Or there are a few AOSP based ROMS on 4.1.2 or 4.2.1. JellyBam being a very nice example which is based on CM10.1 and AOKP's latest builds. Or the CM 10.1 Nightly builds.
Hope that helps
Check out my ROM, it's totally the best!
Try the foxhound Rising rom, been was the second rom i tried for my s3 & I've been very happy here, fully customizable & has so much inside! JB, fast, everything works, just give it a try & see how you like it? I haven't looked back since I installed this.
Hope this helps, click the thanks button if this helps

DO NOT POST A "What's the best ROM/Kernel/Theme?" THREAD!

I have just switched from my Photon to the GSII. I have finally got the hang of rooting and ROM flashing on the GSII and now I am trying to decide what ROM to flash. I would really appreciate to know who is using what and why? Thanks.
both are the best in each category " my opinion "
foxhound the best in samsung roms
hydrogen is the best in aokp roms
so it is personla now but i think aokp hydrogen is giving you more customize options , like system ui , nav bar , you can customize every thing , but i think it uses more battery than samsung roms , but i can easily get 1 day and may be 5 hours of my phone with mid-hard usage with neak kernel or thoravukk kernel

No you should not remove your reply, you where doing what XDA likes their members to do and that is be helpfull, it is not up to members of XDA to decide what a banned thread should be, that is down to the Mod's to decide.

Sorry. Iv never heard of this being against xda policy before. We even use POLLs of ROMs on the Motorola Photon 4G section. Guess SG2 is a bit more strict. I generally find these posts very usefully to have people compare and contract ROMs to one another so that I can make a decision on what ROM is most likely to appeal to me. I understand that their is no best ROM.
P.S. I would appreciate it if you could cite the source the officially bans "best rom what rom" posts. Thanks.

Hey,
some folks made me think about CyanogenMod9 as it is supposed to be better than stock.
But when I saw CyanogenMod9 I noticed it looks differently compared to the stock I mean especially some features which I like.
This is why I'd like to ask if some of them are available in CM9 and if they're part of TouchWiz would it be possible to install such features as external app (or mod).
Is in CM9 such look of dialer?

What about feature when you are in the contacts and can just slide right\left for SMS\Call? (green field on the picture)
Would Call window look same?
Overall those are TouchWiz features which I like and for me are "a must". But i'd like to try CM9 too
The last question regards camera - often in custom roms camera is really piece of crap compared to the stock ROM.
Can you say CM 9 camera is at minimum level of stock ROM camera quality? Doesn't it have many crashes and bugs?
Thx
1. Depends on Rom (but you always able to have this feature with exDialler, love it)

There is a lot of new kernels that provides you "dual-boot" feature in CWM so after installing such kernel you will be able to experiment without worries.

Hello,
You can look for a list of best roms here in XDA or I recommend Salman ROM .. Its just amazing !!!
Take care ..
you want straight simple answer, skip cm9 and use stock.
detail: nothing wrong in using stock/touchwiz rom, its people who dont like touchwiz are one who will say use cm9 blaa blaa, if you tried it and missing touchwiz go back to it.

So that means I cannot install Touchwiz over custom rom?
I hate pure ICS dialer and camera. Samsung's ones are much better :E
So use the stock touchwiz ROM.
You can try the galaxy s3 Touchwiz on cm9 if you want, but it won't change the dialer.

Hey man, I'm sorry to inform you, but these kinds of threads are forbidden, I know you probably want one fast answer but that's not the way to do it nor theres one right answer, every user likes something different, search, read, explore. This way you won't just find your answers but will also learn something. Good luck

Hello friends, I've been the topic of creating a port of the WP7 ROM for our Galaxy Galaxy Mini 5.
I have tested on mine and so far only had problems with the launcher that gave some FC's.
I remember she has to be customized for you, have to make your own desktop to your taste, so I'll post some screens.
I remind you that to test this first version, which people are accustomed to testing, loop did not occur to me, but if by chance happens to someone, then why ask for people advanced in some other way to test first.
features:
Lock WP
WP Theme
WP icons total
customizable Table
and more we will discover together.
Here all versions http://goo.im/devs/Esromg5/Roms/Galaxy_5/WindowsPhone_CM7
changelog version 2:
Still not sure fix the FC's launcher, it still is giving me a headache, you just extract the Launcher7 and reinstall that works or you can choose the first ADW and change after pressing the home choose what launcher7 (also ran);
Based on 2.7 CM7 through psyke83
Updated CM7 source - thanks to psyke87
new Wallpapers
Spareparts with Brazilian language added
DevTools with Brazilian language added
Phone WP-language Brazilian aidicionado
LockscreenWP with Brazilian language
Applications WP added
Gapps integrated, if not install for security
changelog version 1:
Based on 2.6 CM7 through psyke83
New kernel 2.6.35.7 obliged to psyke83
Fixed new framework and personalization
Fixed patch launcher can now stop the FC.
which works:
Everything seemed to work normally, only the pitcher who had given FC
I need to post test and its results.
Please test who really knows what he is doing.
Now joined the team F.A Projects
How to install:
Pass the ROM to the SD card;
Enter recovery mode;
Make wipes data, cache and go and do the advanced wipe Dalvik;
goes on install zip from sd card / choose zip from sd card
Choose WP7 ROM and install, do the same with the GAPPS CM7;
Windows 7 launcher
You will be required to do an "initial configuration" at
start up in order to assign apps to your homescreen tiles.
it's nothing to worry about, just choose the app that is
associated with each tile and you are good to go!

Hi,
I see that the fellow developers are doing some great work here. I have an HTC One X+ running on the stock ROM 4.2.2. I want to upgrade to Kitkat 4.4 but i'm very skeptical and not certain about choosing any specific custom ROM.
My requirement is no bloatware or any extra processes running in the background. I just want alot of free RAM, speed and full exploitation of my TEGRA 3 GPU to get the best gaming performance from the device. I really am not able to determine which custom ROM would be the best for me.
Any kind of help will be highly appreciated.
Best regards.

Try AOKP ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516863
Or OmniROM (Home Made Version don't try the knightly) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-x2/orig-development/omnirom-4-4-t2833119
What about stability, reliability and all the functions. Let me know your personal experience with the ROMs.
