Did anyone update Google Wallet with hack already working? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

The hack works perfectly so i am scared to update. Did anyone update Google Wallet with hack already working? What happens if you do?

Update the Wallet app itself?

Yes. If you check the play store there is an update for Google wallet

The update broke my wallet. Was working great before that.

You can't update through the market. The wallet that you flash is hacked to work with our device. Just reflash and setup the original one you flanged and you'll be good to go
Doin' big thangs from my Note Deuce

Where is the hacked wallet apk?
The only hacked one I've seen was for my old S3. Is the one mentioned here different? Do we still need to modify the build prop?
Thanks!

Here's the thread and yes you change it to setup and change it back to the original when done. Same as the s3 way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031127
Doin' big thangs from my Note Deuce

Got it working....
I had the working hack and downloaded and installed the update and that broke it. So went into application manager and uninstalled the update, Rebooted and then went into root explorer into system/app and deleted the wallet app from there. Rebooted again then followed the instructions to set up from scratch. When I got to the step where you install the wallet app from google play it installed the newest version and it stuck. Dont know if I just got lucky or what but it seems to be working fully functional now.
Just uninstall the update, remove the wallet app from system/app, follow the original setup instructions from the thread and when you download from the play store it should install the latest.
Best of luck
EDIT;
Crap ..... when you change build prop back it says the device is not supported ;( Oh well back to the drawing board. Unless someone knows how to get around that.

Sticking with old one....Thanks!!

This past had the new version half to work with our phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37334496
I just rebooted into recovery and used terminal there to copy it into/system/app, and when I rebooted it went right into the app without having to mess with build.prop

unfortunately the update does not fix Wallet for the ELTE....but....utnick posted a solid fix here, this is no build.prop hack, this is a patched apk that removes the device check, the operator check, and the root warning.

Is this apk safe though, as far as for further updates and such? It is such a sensitive app...

Also, what if we installed the update from 7-1? Uninstall wallet first then flash?

I need someone to confirm that this is a fix. It has worked for me more than once on getting into the apps and turning on a prepaid card.
1. Change ro.product.device=jewel to ro.product.device=htc_jewel (this is only editted once. No other build.prop edits)
2. Delete build.prop.bak (or at least move it to another location because wallet may detect it?)
3. Uninstall wallet update
4. Reboot
5. Install wallet updates
6. Open wallet and it should work?
Someone confirm...?

I can't tell you 100% for sure that this will not brick the NFC, but this is what I did to be able to reset the Google Wallet settings. Modify your build.prop so it matches this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27808326&postcount=2
After you unsync / sync Gmail and reboot a couple times, go into Wallet. It will activate and initialize like it did the first time. Now you can reset Google Wallet settings and hopefully avoid bricking NFC.
The mod in the dev section worked perfect for me. No need for build prop edit and no reddish hue in the FFC.

I would say it's just as safe as the official wallet, it's just removes the checks.
if u installed the 7/1 update, uninstall it, and remove any trace of wallet b4 flashing this new one
None of the methods in this thread worked as usual..oh well
closer
we're getting closer guys, now it's only not compatible with device and carrier, but it is with our country, one down 2 to go..!!
For those of you that are not able to get OMJ's zip to work, you might want to actually do a search for any wallet files using something like Astro or Root explorer.
I uninstalled Wallet and tried the zip and it did not work. I got the same messages. Then I did a search and found more files. Once I deleted them, I retried the zip and everything worked.
It might just be that you did not clear all of the original files out. Worth a try since it worked for me.
Mine updated and Worked like a charm gave me another 10 dollars I edited the build prop when I first got the phone a few weeks ago. Flashed the zip in the other thread with build prop edits a couple days ago. Working now.

You need the modified Google Wallet APK for it to work in CM10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810118
Use the APK from step 3.
Is it included in decks nightlies? I could not for the life of me get my phone to recognized the modified apk, was gonna try the zip and saw the new nightly, flashed that first and gw was installed and working

AFAIK it is included in the builds he posts on IRC, but not in the official nightlies.
Edit: To get CM10 to recognize the modified APK, do not install it. Instead, copy it to /system/app and /data/app. Be sure to change the ownership and permissions of those copies to match the other APKs in those directories. Do this with a file manager app such as Root explorer, as the /system/app directory will need to be remounted as read/write. Then reboot and it should be in your app drawer.
Lol did that and it didn't take, it happens. That's why I jumped to decks nightlies. I pushed rewrote permissions and erased dalvik and cache to be sure, even trued fix permissions and it just wouldn't take lol also it can't be installed normally anyway

Play Store knows my phone is rooted I think?

Ok so, I am running Liquid Gingersense. I have the new combo radio installed. I am using 4ext.
So today I am playing on the play store (PC version). I saw an app my wife DL. I wanted the app too. The play store said that the app is not compatible with my unlocked TB but it is ok on my wife’s stock TB. Why? There is also a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336245
This guy is saying that a game has shut down on him because he was rooted. Don’t know if there a tie between or it is just a coincidence. But why is an app ok to use on a stock TB but not a rooted TB?
Here is the app I was using:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid#?t=W10.
That app isn't giving me any issues running nusense.... The other I played for months without any issue.

Yeah depends if the rom you're running changed the LCD density, or much more. Even the smallest tweak can throw off the market.

I never even thought of that. I did change the density a little. hmmmmm.
If you changed the density the market will make apps not compatible. Stock density is 240 and it can be changed I. the build prop.

Wait a little while. I think the Play Store caches information and takes a bit to forget or to force a re-check.
Check what the device profile and name are in the build prop.

Just search name of the app you want and put .apk after it in Google search.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Thanks for your guys help with this. I Just ended up flashing to the ODJDub's ROM. Everything is showing back in the play store. I am not sure as to what happened. Maybe a glitch in the Matrix lol. I did clear the caches and even went as far as installing an old market.apk. But Flashing to the new ROM seemed to fix it. It was not that I wanted the app from the store so much as to finding out that I was being restricted from the apps themselves. I do understand that the app store is device/carrier specific. But it shoild not have made a difference from a stock TB to a rooted TB. That was more the point I was psuhing. I did not nor do I ever like having the restriction placed againt my device. Is that not the reason why we aquire S-off?
I'm certain there was something in your build.prop that IDs your phone to the Market that was blocking this. Knowing your phone is rooted or not, I don't believe, can be checked beforehand. Now, once the app starts installing, it could check. Another scenario that I'm 100% certain of is when the app tries to run for the first time, it can check for root access and at that point, it can run or not run (and warn the user).
The Market can be finicky. My wife's phone runs Skyraider Zeus on her Thunderbolt and has for many, many months. Last week, apps that she has ran in the past now don't appear in the Market. Rest assured, she changed NOTHING in her build.prop file. I login on the PC and she has (2) phones listed, one is "HTC Thunderbolt" and the other is "ADR6400L". The ADR6400L is what the Market thinks is current and apps aren't compatible with that phone because they effectively don't know what it is...
I had issues with the market running skyraider and ikream. Themed markets will cause incompatibility problems sometimes. Maybe try getting LCD density modder pro and use their modded market.

Google Now on Stock Rom.

Alright, following This Guide I got Google now working.
To summarize what I did
1. Root phone using the Korean Root method
2. I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM using Project FreeGee
3. I booted into CWM and installed This zip.At the I was writing this guide, I freegee was on version 0.5
4. My phone restarted and froze up about twice before finally staying booted. It seems to have normalized now.
edit:Right now most things seem to work.
If anyone finds a better version of Google now, please let me know and post the how-to.
I didn't make the zips and all I have done is follow the instructions and write down my personal experience. I give full credit to the author of the original post for their instructions/work they did. However, since the LGOG doesn't need project Butter, Google Now is the main thing we are missing from 4.1 and it should help ease the wait for a stable AOSP ROM. If anyone has any issues let me know and I'll make a list.

THis is great news. Right now I'm pondering whether to get this phone or the Note II, and Google now (which I have on my Captivate running SlimBean 3.0) is the one thing I really cannot imagine giving up.
Question: when you say that Calendar/settings alamrs don't work, do you mean that they don't work at all, or that they don't show up in Google Now?
I was referring to not working in Google now. Although i did manage to set an alarm with it shortly after this post.

I didn't want to be the guy who gets all excited and posts the same damn question in three different forums. But now its been a day and a half, and I just got a call that's going to take me out of the country again next week, so I'd like to fix this sooner rather than later.
Rather than threadjack, perhaps I should make a new post? oh well, you asked!
This tablet is my second android device (I came from a TP2), and my first is a Moto DX2 with a locked bootloader. I have flashed roms and used the moto sbf process and even tinkered with radiocomm for the TBH 3G hotspot hack, but unlocked bootloaders and Samsung devices are new to me.
I unlocked and rooted fine, and then tried to use Wug's toolkit to flash the inverted apps (and didn't nandroid like a dummy). That's when things went south. The calendar worked, talk force closed, it duplicated the email app, but the inverted one force closed, and the people/contacts app is where I think things got really borked. The tablet is currently running, but the people app is totally missing. I can get into the bootloader, and into TWRP, and I've factory reset a few times but the issue remains. I thought flashing the factory image would be like the moto sbf process and bring me back to stock. It seems like the toolkit isn't flashing it though, because it never reboots, it just hangs at the bootloader.
After the initial flash of those apps it took me a while to get through setup, because that "android.process.acore has stopped" error kept occuring. After trying a while I finally fully booted and that's where I'm at now.
I have not previously used adb or the sdk, but again thought the toolkit would do it?
______________________________________________________________________
Edit: well I tried the mskip tool instead and that flashed the factory image just fine.
I had some wierdness with the play store disappearing after an update, but I just re-downloaded the apk and that seemed to solve that.
