[Q] V-sync issue with 6.1.1.b.1.54 Kernel - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi. How can I enable v-sync on my xperia U? I have some issues with the screen when I scroll in messaging app, for example, or play some light game(which would achieve high framerates). I've read this option only exists when you're compiling the kernel, and since I don't know how to do it, I flashed a new kernel, the CWM touch 5.5.0.4, and replaced the stock 6.1.1.B.1.54. The screen issue disappeared, but my battery is going away very fast. Is there a version of the Stock 6.1.1.B.1.54 kernel with vsync enabled?
Thank you.

Its Mali problem because VSYNC is either not enabled in Mali but its in kernel,if you have Nvidia graphic card in computer disale vsync in it but enable in some games you will see what im talking about.

I believe CWM is the recovery and not the kernel

mh, I think I know what you're talking about, nvidia has some kind of "preferably off but let app decide". Do you know a way of fixing it?

Overclocking Xperia Play

haven't seen any thread about this. someone already tried setcpu on the arc how about the play?
i want to overclock my unit cause most of the psx games (ie castlevania) tends to be slow and the framerate drops significantly even if it's fixed at 30 fps.
so no one seems to be interested in overclocking the xplay?
i guess when its been out longer ill wont an overclock but i haven't had any slow down as yet well after getting rid of the rubbish that was on there "bloat"
i would rather a recovery menu first ha ha if were wishing here..
but we need a custom kernel first i believe before an overclock
You'll need someone to cook up a custom kernel to OC the play or someone to make a script that runs it without a custom kernel. Had this on my HTC desire hd before I rooted/unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom kernel that could OC.
The first option will need a unlocked bootloader and the latter will just need root (if possible with the play).
Setcpu should be able to underclock as it is now, but that wont help with your gaming issues.
Regards Dousan...
No need for unlcoked bootloader just need root and someone to cook up a kernel module to work with set CPU. It's a standard qualcom 8250 shouldn't be to hard. Contact the developer of setcpu on twitter or by email

What were the apps that you removed? I might just do this while waiting for an oc. And were there any signifcant changes in terms of the unit's speed.
hey owain
you already have xperia play !! you can do it

did you forget xda site ?
why ?
We need the sources of the xplay to create own kernels - at least to create one without minor bugs

Hey guys, i'm new to the play forum although ive been around for a while lol anyway just to clarify some points.
yes with the sony kernel source code we can make custom kernels, but without an unlocked bootloader we cannot flash unsigned images.. i only got my play 2day so i am unsure of what can or cannot be done, does the play have nand protection? if not and we can create and flash a custom recovery image, then an unlocked bootloader should not be nessesary. android has full R/W access by default to all the partitions while in recovery mode, so we should be able to flash things roms/kernels/ect. maybe someone should email clockworkmod and ask if they are or intend to work on a custom recovery

Qualcomm didn't turn down anything, they simply said the OpenMax Drivers could not run on our chipset. These things happen, you can't expect full hardware acceleration for DirectX11 on a videocard that is designed for DirectX9, for example.
But that is beside the point. Those problems concerned MiniCM9. These guys have problems with videorecording on MiniCM7, and we have all the drivers we need for that, we even got Adreno libs from Qualcomm. I honestly don't know why it should lag, but then, I haven't really tried video-recording on MiniCM7.
Maybe setting the sd-card cache size to 4096 in CM-performance settings might do the trick, it seemed to be a solution for MIUI-camera in some ROMS.

Because I read that the custom roms like CM10 or Pac-rom, the Project Butter features are not fully working, like v-sync in 60FPS and triple buffering. They are partially working only.
Only kernel 3.0 supports them on CM10, I guess.

Firstly, thanks.
There is no V-sync in class, like you described. So I presume there is no V-Sync and no Triple Buffering.
I know that you are one of the best developer of this forum, you and korm raised a wonderful rom that was PAC-ROM. Then, I asked to you is there any ROM and Kernel that enables V-Sync?

[Q] ICS problem with touch games (kernel related?)

Hello!
I've recently installed the fxp cm9 ICS firmware port and kernel on my X10. Now, it turns out several games have a bit of a problem with touchscreen commands. For example, after having installed the mobile Rayman game, the buttons on the main menu seem to respond to my touch at first, but don't actually do anything.
Having looked around for this problem, I ultimately found this quote:
"that problem is with your Kernel. There's a problem with the ICS Kernel 4.1.B.0.431 using touch games. You have to upgrade to a Kernel based on 4.1.B.0.587 or a CyanogenMod Kernel."
I'm not that knowledged in the field of android development, but I'm under the impression that the kernel I installed along with the CM9 x10 port is obviously a CM kernel. All kernels currently available on the X10 dev forums here seem to be based on the fxp cm9 kernel port as well. Thus, my question is: has anyone else encountered this problem, is the problem really relevant to the kernel as stated in that quote, and is there anything specific I need to know or do to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!

It it's the same problem I have, here's an example: you get into angry birds, select your level, fire about once or twice with slingshot and then no response from the screen. Back, menu and home buttons work but not the screen.
Yeah, I hadn't tried angry birds yet after having installed the new firmware, but I just gave one of the games a testrun and I can't even get in-game, main menu is completely unresponsive.
But no, there's no freezing or anything, I can just leave the game with my hard buttons, it's only the touchscreen in-game that's being unresponsive.
Not all games either since there's plenty of stuff that still works though.

I'm not sure but I thought the other kernels for ICS for X10 were all based on the FXP CM9 port... Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Hey, a very noob question, but does flashing just another kernel, and not flashing a whole new firmware, also result in all your data being lost? If not, I could just try a few different kernels out without having to take a new backup.

Nope. But for just in case, do a full backup using cwm recovery. A backup is a must when you do such thing.. As long as you read ics kernel for your x10 not other device maybe everything will be okay. Get what i mean? (Bad english )
