Restore to stock Launcher without losing root? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello,
I have an SE LWW on stock 4.0.4 with the build number .587. It currently is rooted and has the Xperia Z launcher by ThilinaC. How can I revert back to the original launcher without losing root? And I did not make a CWM backup after rooting because of less space in SD card.
I was thinking of maybe restoring it through SUS but I don't want to root again. But then, I wanted to delete some apps so I am again thinking of restoring and then re-rooting.
So please explain me the answer to my first question and is it safe to restore using the SUS because I have a rooted phone?
P.S. The boot loader is still locked.
Thank you,
Asad

Just find the original Home.apk and push it to /system/app

Find the stock Home.apk and HomePreferences.apk (or a similar name) and copy it to /system/app. Set the permissions and reboot

So I updated the phone via SUS thinking that I will root again. So, I flashed the stock GB Rom through Flashtool but I did not turn 'on' the USB debugging and unknown sources and changed the connectivity method to MSC mode. It failed when unused the Xperia Root app by DoomLord. So, I used SUS again and it updated it to GB with the build number .62(When I flashed GB rom, it had a build number of .58). So I flashed the stock rom via flashtool and updated it to the latest build number .587 of ICS. Then I restarted the root process and turned 'on' USB debugging and unknown sources and changed the connectivity mode to MSC and flashed GB Tom. It flaged successfully, but after flashing it does not get root access after using the Xperia Root tool. I did everything as mentioned. But, it still fails.
Any help?
Any way to turn it back to factory state through an official way?

Yes. Any way to return it to the factory state so I can try to root again?
How about downgrading to GB and using the PC Companion software.

You can downgrade to .42 or .58 and root. After that you run the local-prop script (you can find it in the tutorial how to root .431) and update phone without wiping data. Now you run push-root-files and you should have root access

But the root method fails. I can't root, Ye actual problem is that. If the root works, I know that I have to flash a stock ICS Rom and then use Xperia Root to root it. I have done that before but the actual problem is that it doesn't get rooted on GB.

yeah thanks just need to register... (not pay) i use your 2.3.4 actually.. it give me ability to upgrade in .62 without loosing root... and now "bonus" PCC ask me to upgrade ICS centraleurope version... just all i need with a downgrade :d
Hi,
I have a xperia neo....with rooted stock firmware .62 and unlocked bootloader (testpoint method)...I have taken a nandroid backup of it
I just wanted to try out ics...so planning to update using PCcompanion
Before updating...i just want to know
1. whether it's possible to downgrade to gb through cwm nandroid restore? Do I need to flash the kernel for .62 after the nandroid restore ?
2. will root access be restored after the downgrade? Since .62 is cannot be rooted, I'll have to flash .42 to get root access
I don't want to start restoring all the installed apps...hence thinking of using nandroid backup against flashtool
heres a video on how to :
SIMPLEST WAY TO DOWNGRADE TO 2.3.4 factory firmware
...Hi, hope i can help you after i spent myself days looking to root or flash my device, with no luck. There is just 3 simple steps to follow and you are done. Trust me its working fine:
1. Go To: (http thing) i cant link as new user...//androidadvices.com/downgrade-sony-xperia-arc-official-gingerbread-23-firmware/2/ and download 2 files (flashtool and Xperia Arc S firmware package... works for xperia arc, arc s, pro, etc). This is the Gingerbread 2.3.4
2. Unzip, install and start (as admin) Flashtool, then COPY XPERIA ARC S FIRMWARE PACK (is a .ftf file) INTO Installed Flashtool, FIRMWARE Folder (PASTE inside), START FLASH, choose FLASHMODE, follow on screen steps.
P.S. When restart your phone in FLASHMODE: With the phone turned off, press and HOLD BACK button, while connect USB, next seconds, you'll get the GREEN Light(phone) and flashing begins.
3. ENJOY your new installed GINGERBREAD 2.3.4 Firmware
P.S. ...NO ROOT REQUIRED... ...and yes, i know there are more than 3 steps... so? still works great. GOOD LUCK

[SOLVED] PCC update fail, SUS crashes, Stuck at Sony Logo when boots!!!

I have a problem here. I was using nightelf oc kernel with JJ hybrid rom before. Then i decided to switch to KA21.1 latest.
Earlier i had tried to install KA18 and KA19 on my device but dont know why i faced some bugs so i quit it.
To install KA21.1 I first decided to install Official ICS 4.0.4. as a necessity to install KA21.1 device must have any 4.0.4 rom.
I flashed 4.0.4 using flashtool.
then I tried to install superuser. but got errors. I googled the issue and found the solution to install SU and CWM in latest 4.0.4 here .
after that i tried to flash KA21.1 in recovery mod. It was successfully installed and asked to reboot. After reboot device stucked at the Sony logo.
I re-tried the whole procedure from the beginning hoping I must have done some mistake. But the result was as it was.
Then I tried to repair my phone and update it through PCC. But at the end of its second step (2. Prepare), I got en error " Installation error - Unable to install or start phone software update components."
I again googled the problem and saw that SUS was helpful for some people who faced same problem. Then I tried SUS too. But It was also waste. SUS crashes after asking me to select my device.
Please Help. I just wanted to go for an light and fast rom.
Any suggestions/help is welcome. i wanted my phone working again.

Not really. Only problem he would have is that pcc/seus would refuse to update his phone, with excuse of modified software.
Unfortunately he didn't even came to that step, as pcc had problems with updating components. Common problem with pcc, will be solved in a few days, or even on the same day.

1) depends how you unlocked your BL.
If official, then it won't work, if unofficial, then it will work but..
2) reinstall of pcc won't help because its not problem in your installation, but in connection to Sony's servers. But no harm in trying
But you do need to reinstall seus as you said it crashed even when selecting device (you mean from phone list?).

Hi,
have you read the tutorial for rooting in this forum?
mihahn made a very good tutorial, I've just rooted my xperia active (ST17i) 2 hrs ago and it worked really well! No errors in any logs!
I've got firmware 4.1.B.0.587, I followed tutorial for .587, it link a thread in sony mobile forum (I can't link it 'cause I'm a noob ).
I didn't downgraded to .42 , just flashed a 4.1.A.0.562 kernel and after rooting (with doomlord's rootkit) re-flashed the stok firmware 4.1.B.0.587.
The entire procedure took me about 15 minutes, but I've installed/checked adb drivers, flashtool, etc, days ago.

[Q]Root Xperia U 6.1.1.B.1.54

Guys, I want some help.

I tried to Root via Flashtool, via Byn4ry root files and nothing worked.
Can anyone provide me a link where I can root my sweat Phone?

To root that firmware you need to first flash B.10 kernel then Root and then again .54 kernel
Flash only Kernel of 6.1.1.B.1.10
Root with Bin4ry V13 (New version doesn't work)
Once rooted, flash only kernel from the .54

Ok......all done!
In case anybody else is having the same problem this is what i did.
I used bin4ry on my up to date unrooted xperia U. Android version 4.0.4 build 6.1.1.B.1.10.
I was getting errors saying "adb server out of date" but i left it to go to the end anyway.
restarted my phone but when it came to enter my password for my sim card the screen was faded. so i re-flashed the up to date android version again making my phone unrooted again!
then tried bin4ry again and this time it worked without any adb errors and restarted the phone to find that i have superuser app and all is good.
Thanks for previous posts offering help..

Good. You should always check the drivers if they are installed correctly or not.
-Connect your device to PC
-Open Flashtool.
-Goto Help, Check drivers.
-List of ADB devices must be present.
when loading the b 10 kernel into the flashtool,do i also have to put loader sin into the firmware on flashtool aswell?

[Q] HELP X Sola

Hello friends,
I recently flashed stock Asia(India) .54 firmware and also relocked my BL but now I would like to root it but the binary method is not working for me. How to get root? I also did another method but I am failed to flashed. .10 is not flashing correctly whenever I try to flash this, it shows flashed successfully but when checked the version remains same ie .54.
I also have another problem that, when I connect to timescape or IM+ the internal facebook dialogue box is not opening and its asking to choose browser. Please help me

To gain you root you need to flash .10 kernel, using flashtool.
Then try either flashtool method or Bin4ry method to root !

Well, follow this-

It's really helpful. You need to flash the kernel first and then the ROM and then root. The guide above has all the links and steps. I rooted my Xperia P using this only.
