Has my S3 bricked itself? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys, In need of some help here! Had my S3 for 8 months now and its been fine, Never rooted, Always been on stock OS's from day one.. About a week ago I started to get random reboots and freezes, A battery pull would fix the issue for a while but then it would come back again, They became more and more frequent and then I did the latest update, 4.1.2 (I think) It worked fine for a day and then yesterday morning I had like one restart, After a battery pull it worked fine. Put it in in my pocket and carried on doing my work. When I next looked at it it was on the samsung boot screen, I thought it must be another random reboot, But this time it kept looping over and over, Makes the little jingle sound with the samsung logo and then repeats constantly.. I did a wipe data/cache from the recovery mode and that didn't change anything, I then flashed the latest unbranded UK OS via Odin, But that didn't do anything either, The only difference that made was that it gave me a false hope as when i booted it, It say 'Optimising Apps' an then went from 0 to 30 something but sadly, After that it began its looping of the samsung logo again. Anyone heard of a case like this? Where an unrooted phone 'bricks' itself? Could it be hardware?.. Hopefully someone can help.. I hope Samsung UK will fix this under warranty! Fingers crossed they will! Any help would be much much appreciated.. Thanks!

It sounds like a partial SDS hardware fault if you stayed on the previous UK ROM and didn't update to XXELLA until just a week ago, return it to Samsung for a new motherboard.
ELLA contained a fix which prevents SDS, but won't cure it if it's already happened.

Which firmware are you using?
as Boomboomer said, if you never did a firmware upgrade before your last upgrade you are probably encountering issues with SDS. new motherboerd required
Good luck!

[Q] Galaxy S2 Stuck on Boot-Up Screen

I have an international version of the Samsung GS2 that i am using on At&t. A few weeks ago i noticed that my phone would suddenly turn off while in my pocket or just left alone. Then, one time i tried turning on the phone and saw that the phone got stuck on the boot animation screen with blue markings all around it. I took out the battery and put it back in a few times and was finally able to get the phone to work.
Today, the same thing happened. The phone turned off i tried to restart it and it got stuck on the boot animation screen (Galaxy S logo). It has these blue markings around it and it can't get past it. The phone isn't rooted and i have not tampered with the system files. I've only updated it once, from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4. I tried factory resetting it but nothing changed and its still has the same problem.
I have a suspicion that it might be caused by the fact that i've dropped the phone a few times. What do you guys think could be the problem and what are my choices in getting it fixed? Would flashing a stock rom help fix the problem?
I would suggest flashing the Stock Rom Through Odin as i once has an issue with massive yellow streaks kind of like what you are getting after a flash before.
I went ahead and flashed a few roms from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278. The flashing worked fine but it still can't get past the bootup screen and the blue marks are still there.
Would calling Samsung and asking for support get me anywhere?
How long did you wait after flashing the rom? The worst way you could have messed up is by choosing the wrong files in Odin. Did u check that again?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I flashed the rom and rebooted and saw that it was still the same. Does it matter which rom i chose? I tried two or three different roms from the thread. I though they were all stock roms...

stock phone stuck in a bootloop out of nowhere

hello everyone, my stock s6 edge on rogers is stuck in a boot loop all of a sudden, fully stock and unmodded, running 5.0.2. i was just walking and listening to music through bluetooth headphones and all of a sudden it stopped, and i looked at my phone and it was rebooting. so i just waited and its still stuck in a boot loop after an hour. it gets to the lock screen sometimes, and then after like a second or 2 just reboots again. i have not tinkered or have done anything to my phone either, and had no issues with random reboots ever, so i have no idea what could have happened
some extra info, when it reboots it doesnt always go to the galaxy s6 edge screen, it sometimes just shows the samsung logo with the animation. i have also tried to wipe cache and that didnt work either. after a few reboots however the stock theme was applied at some point. also i tried booting into safe mode and that also didnt work.
i really dont want to wipe my phone, but i will if it is absolutely necessary. so if anyone has any other suggestions that i can try out it will be very much appreciated!
thanks!

I have had said problem before under the same circumstances (although it was with a different phone)
Try using Odin to install the stock Firmware.
A thread explaining how is right here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841
If you don't want the firmware listed in that thread, download from Sammobile.
While some users say it does not wipe the phone, it wipes every time I use it
If this does not work, you should get a warranty replacement.

Bootloop remains even after Stock flash in ODIN

Hello guys, I have a serious predicament that needs to be solved.
I haven't did anything major to my phone in years so the past couple days have been a nightmare. Ever since I did a wipe of cache partition after trying to get rid of this "unfortunately, contacts stopped working." message, it's sent my phone into a spiraling disaster. (I have been using stock 5.0 rooted rom for at least a year so idk why the sudden issues)
I've literally tried every method imaginable. I even tried flashing with different versions of Odin and still the exact same problems.
I can get my phone into DL mode easily but Recovery mode only works if I have the phone plugged in at this point (Actually, it seems like the only time when my phone wants to work)
Every time I'm done flashing, it'll load all the way up to the T-Mobile screen then restart the loop all over again :/
Really need help seeing as I need to get this situation handled before work today, thanks!
Nevermind, after more research, I decided to order a new battery and the problem is solved.

A replacement battery also solved my boot loop issue. Prior to replacement, it would boot to Galaxy S5 screen, and then reboot. Replaced battery and boots. Put the old battery back in, and it boot looped.

GT-N8010 Stuck on Logo Screen

Ok, first up I know there are many posts out there about this issue because I've looked at most of them and tried them so please bear with me.
I have a Samsung Galaxy GT-N8010, about 4 years old. I have never rooted or done anything to the firmware in all that time except OTA updates & the occasional factory reset to clean things up.
Couple of months ago it was on, i had been using it and put it down and when i came back it was on the Samsung logo screen and has been ever since.
Since i could get into the download page even though it was already bricked I figured i'd try rooting to see if i could fix the problem. Now possibly i should have attempted to get into recovery mode first but I attempted to install CWM (as per posts here). It appeared to install fine. But no recovery partition, screen blinks and goes back to the logo.
I've tried flashing stock firmware, TWRP, CWM - all 'appear' to install successfully according to ODIN, but nothing changes, still stuck on the logo screen.
So does this sound like a hardware issue or am i missing something? The Tab A 10.1 with s-pen looks great, would be a perfect replacement, but is not available in NL
Thanks guys (& gals)

S9+ stuck in boot loop... any advice?

Hey guys,
I woke up the other morning with my S9+ rebooting every other second or so. The screen loads the "Samsung Galaxy S9" powered by knox screen and then reboots right away. I can get into download mode easily and can even access the safemode/reformat screen with some luck (if I let the battery drain I can usually pull this off if I plug in the phone and immediately try). I have tried resetting to factory defualt, loading in safe mode, normal boot, and reflashing the official ROM. No matter what I do, the behavior persists. Verizon is sending a new phone, but it won't get here before I leave for a business trip and there is that inside of me that wants to be able to fix this with my own two hands. Any advice? I used the verizon ROM off of sammobile if that is helpful and odin gave me the green light.
nooooo ! I can't believe it !!! we are damned !
I went from galaxy S3-4G (bootloop issues due to bad internal memory chip) ..... to LG G4 (had the f.ing LG bootloop) .... and now S9+ and THIS ?!?
Sorry guy, if bootlooping and you did nothing to get there just before the issue (no flash, no update, no nothing), then it's faulty hardware, nothing to do about it :/

Thanks for the candid response. I'll have to figure some way to get a temporary phone for my trip.
Boot-loop nightmare
I got a new S9 3 days ago and am now on my 3rd new S9. The previous two wanted me to update my system- a a security update. With both phones it sent it into a boot-loop that no one could flash or hard re-set, even when I took the phone back to the store I bought it from. I have the update set to later on my 3rd new S9... afraid to hit update for fear of it happening again. Any ideas as to what is causing this? I run my business off my phone so I would like to use it (;
I didn't transfer over any of my apps from previous phones! Puzzled. Help.
