Question about Samsung galaxy note 2 changing from CDMA to GSM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Please help I bought a US Cellular Galaxy note 2. I didn't know it was CDMA. Anyone can help me. I just wonder if there's anyway to change the note 2 from CDMA TO GSM?

Don't know if all note 2s have this, but the Verizon Note 2 has global radios and will operate on gsm. No lte though i imagine

Does it have a SIM card slot? If not, you're boned, sorry buddy.

This site is pretty reliable in my experience with their phone specs and it lists as not supporting GSM bands
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=3877&c=samsung_sch-r950_galaxy_note_ii_lte
However, the phones do have the SIM card slot so it most likely just needs a flash or two.
I would hazard a guess that Samsung would not use a different chip than ours for the provider...just block it via software.
Would be interesting if an international rom and modem update would take care of it, don't know though. Just thinking out loud. Which usually gets me in trouble.

I think this will point you in the right direction

No it is not.
To clarify on the post above me.
CDMA(Verizon) =/= GSM(Tmo)
You can google the differences between the two networks if you like if you want a more detailed answer.

If it was possible, then only another carrier that supports 700Mhz LTE would be able to be used. ATT would be the only other option to try since they will also be using a 700mhz spectrum. But still, it isn't very likely that they can be unlocked.

[Q] Boost Mobile Galaxy S II compatible with Verizon CMDA?

I see that radio Shack has the SGS II for Boost Mobile for $279 off contract.
I still have six months left on my Verizon contract.
Can the Boost version be used with a Verizon SIM on their CMDA network?
I'm fine with rooting and flashing the prevailing CM ROM.
Thanks, if anyone has done it reliably.

Boost Mobile model of the Galaxy SII is the Epic 4G Touch. That device has a separate forum. You should ask your question there instead of here.
This post is currently in the forum for the GT-I9100. A GSM device that doesn't work on CDMA networks at all.
EDIT to add: Also, I don't believe Verizon uses SIM cards?

Ah, damn, thought I had done enough research to start the thread. Thank you for the informative post. I was unaware of the model differences, and thought this was the CDMA area.
I have an HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon, which used standard sized SIM for the LTE functionality. I thought that if I could get a SGS II to get me through the next six months, then go elsewhere, it would be worth it.

Most models of the SGS II don't have LTE, except for a couple of specific models. And the one for Sprint/Boost definitely doesn't have a SIM card slot. You'd need a donor ESN, from what I understand.

Noob Question about Unlock Verizon Note 2

Hi... Let me do a noob question.
I'm planing to buy a Note 2 with Verizon, but then I have to travel to Latin America. I read the specs of Verizon Note 2 SCH-i605 on gsmarena and the Verizon's webpage, and they said Verizon Note 2 is available to be used with GSM networks.
My question is, if I buy the Verizon Note 2, can I unlock it and then use a SIM Card of any Latin American Company and use its 2G/3G/4G networks in my CDMA/GSM Verizon Note 2?
EDIT: I've already found the Answer for this question.

Can any VZW S4 owner help to try something?

Hi,
I am looking to get a S4 but can someone help me to confirm the following if you have a VZW S4 in your hand?
a). Does VZW S4 takes GSM SIM? Do I need to unlock it before I insert ATT/TMO SIM?
b.) If a is true, then can someone try to put a ATT LTE SIM and see if it picks up ATT LTE?
c.) If a is true, then can someone try to put a TMO LTE SIM and see if it picks up TMO AWS LTE?
d.) Can you check this hidden menu? *#2263# and check all the frequency there?
why I am asking those?
I am living near US border and carry two phones is a problem to me, and TMO GS4 is a 5band HSPA + 5band LTE phone, curious the VZW GS4 could be also multi-band Phone that works across the whole north america (well, maybe some nvram edits need to be done but still~)
I paid full retail for my vzw galaxy s4.
will work over seas - will not work on another domestic carrier. Verizon states it won't work at all between US carriers. They claimed there is no process that can be done on the phone to "carrier unlock" it.
A) it takes a micro sim.. I would think they'd fit. The verizon rep I just talked to said another customer tried this and the phone came up with "please insert a valid sim"
B / C ) I can't answer.
D) that didn't do anything on my phone.

The answer to the OP question is NO. ATT is GSM carrier, Sprint is CDMA. There is no current "unlock" to allow the international GSM portion to work on USA networks.
Sorry.
