[Q] rooting chinese ics mobile - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a wau to root this device w/o flashing custom roms? I only need to root because there are a lot of stock apps I wish to remove. If there is a way to remove these stock apps w/o rooting, please let me know...

I have also tried gingerbreak,sparkyroot,z4root,bin4ry method and superoneclick. Also unroot... Nothing seems to work... And why is my mobile not going into recovery mode? Is there a way to force it into recovery mode?

[Q] Help! Can't root Bell Vibrant after JK4 update via Kies

This is a request for help with a Bell Samsung Vibrant, model GT-I9000M.
I bought it unlocked, rooted it with the update.zip file from the Noob Guide on XDA-Developers by s15274n, and all was well. The phone was running Eclair 2.1-update 1, with UGJH2 and a 2.6.29 kernel. SIM card from AT&T.
Then I made the mistake of trying to see if Kies worked, and let it update the phone to kernel 2.6.32.9, Froyo 2.2, UGJK4.
In short, can't root via 'update.zip' because Android recovery 3rd Edition prevents all the files I have tried from installing. And the 2.2 'update' killed off any USB connectivity (and GPS) so I cannot use Odin or adb.
I have tried many different update.zip files; none will run because they do not have the right signature ('signature verification failed'). The phone is invisible via usb on Ubuntu, on WinVista, or on WinXP; Odin cannot find it; adb from the Android SDK cannot find it. The Galaxy usb drivers will install on my WinVista laptop, but the device fails to start with Error 10.
I have been careful always to get the usb set to mass storage and the usb debugging turned on.
The recovery is the Android third edition recovery, and unless I find an update.zip that will pass inspection, I doubt I can root the phone. I can turn it on (three-button) and get into recovery mode, or into download mode, but neither will solve the problem as it stands. Recovery mode rejects the available update.zip files, and neither of my computers will connect via usb.
Any advice greatly welcomed!

My understanding is with the 3E recovery you are not going to be able to find any signed packages that will work as those keys are only known to Samsung.
Have you tried switching usb ports? I don't have any other ideas if you can't get your computer to recognize the phone in usb debugging mode.

First you can root the phone using SuperOneClickRoot from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Then you have to find a modded 3e recovery file similar to the one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 You might even be able to use that one but don't blame me if you screw up your phone trying it.
At this point all you have to do is copy the "recovery" file to the /system/bin folder (I use root explorer) and you're good to go. Update.zip will work then. Make sure you backup your original recovery file.

Thanks for the reply.
I found the modified 3e recovery.
Problem is I cannot get any computer to reconize the phone via USB, so SuperOneClickRoot has no way to root the phone.
It looks like it will be a backup phone until Samsung lets us make our own 'update.zip' files.

Alternative flashing

Hey Guys!!
Ok, so I;ve been googling and searching for hours and hours and I'm still unsure as of what to do.
I have already updated an X10mini e10a successfully using xrecovery and flashing with binary's flashtool.
My oproblem is with another phone, same model same country etc.
I cannot update the firmware etc and baseband here using seus, so I tried to flash using flashtool. Device is rooted and had xrecovery installed.
THen it went wrong. I tried to update the baseband with flashtool and I had forgotten that I had not reinstalled xrecovery on the new generic rom.
I aslo managed to select the wrong update for flashing and now the boot is stuck in the famous bootloop. It actually arrives at the lock screen, but then crashes after 20 seconds.
The problem is that I can;t boot into recovery mode. Flashtool allows me to gain root access and even push apk files to the device before it reboots again.
I tried to install xrecovery from the menu using flashtool but it says restarting device in recovery but does not.
SEUS does not help me at all, it says there are no new up0dates, and when I try to recover, I get an error after the download has finsihed.
If I try to flash a generic firmware (the original one that i had already successfully installed before the screwup), flashtool tells me that I need to go into the device and enable usb debugging, which of course I cannot.
Is there a way I can do this in adb? How would this be performed? Would i just push a zip or are there a whole list of commands to do. I can;t seem to find a guide in the forums that applies to me.
Thanks guys!!
Get seus to the point where it sais turn off and hold back button while connecting the USB cable.
Then instead of turning it off, just press home+power button at the same time to reboot the device then release and try to get it right with the back button and pushing in the usb cable. Easy!
Might have to give it a few tries, I made it on my second try the first time I needed to do it
It's not a problem of getting the phone into service/flash mode, I have been doing it this way with no problem. SEUS just says I have the most up to date software, and pc suite gives an error when trying to repair.
I woul update with flashtool, but it tells me to turn on usb debugging which i obviously can't do.
Thanks for the help though, I only found out about the 3finger reboot earlier today. Had been removing the battery cable!!
I got that, but with SEUS i just press install anyways so I donĀ“t get it really.. try removing cache on the SEUS program, maybe that helps
Done that too no joy either.
Im now completely out of ideas
did you try to install xrecovery from ADB Mask Controller?i dont know if its possible without usb debugging but give it a try or try to push files manualy if you can

I haven't tried that, I did a backup of the vanilla os before i flashed the rom so if it works I should be able to revert to vanilla again.
How would I go about doing this?
take a look here, is the app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868423
try to see if you can connect on your phone
I tried thap program, looks like I could have a lot of fun with it on my working x10mini!!!
It does not connect to my other mini. Flash mode gives no device connected, and when it starts to load, I can connect but only until the device restarts itself, I cannot push apks either as there is not enough time, or they just fail, and although I can install busybox, it always tells me it is not installed, nor is root. I think this might be because the superuser apk must be asking me a question, but as the lock screen crashes on boot, I am unable to access it to allow access.
Driving me crazy.
I think my last hope is to flash with adb, but i have no idea to do that.
Is there a way to install xrecovery e10a by adb? How would I do this?
If this works I can just restore my old image and start from the beginning again
Would I use sin files, or would I use

[Q] How to Root LG Optimus Hub

Hi.
I want to root my phone LG Optimus Hub E510 ,but im a noob at rooting.
So could anyone tell me what apps should i get ,how to root it and also how does flashing roms work?
I want to do this right and not brick my phone.

Root
The only way I can help you with is how to root your LG E510 and do it at your own risk. (I DID NOT DEVELOP ALL THESE STEPS)
BEFORE YOU START ANYTHING, DON'T CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO THE PC.
1. Download android drivers for LG E510. You should see the steps in it. ( You'll need to restart your computer after installing the drivers.)
2. Download the latest version of superOneclick and extract the files to your desktop.
3. Put your phone in debugging mode. (settings>applications>development>and check USB debugging if it is unchecked)
4. Now you can connect your phone with a USB cable.
5. Open SuperOneclick, then click on root. leave the phone alone until you see the confirmation message. During the process, your phone will restart by itself. REMEMBER TO NOT DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE WHILE THE ROOT IS IN PROCESS!
Now your phone has been rooted. I hope this can help.

[ROOT][GUIDE] How to root non-prerooted SoftwinerEvb Tablet

This is a Root Tool for Android 4.0/4.1 devices.
How to use it:
1. Download and install ADB Driver.
2.Restart your computer once adb driver is successfully installed.
3.Have your device charged to at least 50% to ensure no power interruptions.
4.Backup your device to your computer or external sdcard (I like My Backup app from the Play Store).
5.Download and extract Bin4ary Root Tool to a new folder on your computer.
6.Power on your device and enable USB debugging (Settings>Developer Options>USB debugging>OK).
7.Connect your device to your computer via MicroUSB to USB cable in MTP mode (option will appear in notification bar when you plug your device into your computer).
9.Your computer should automatically install drivers using the previously downloaded and installed adb driver. It may popup a install wizard; follow the wizards prompts. Let Windows update search for it. The computer may say it can't install MTP device; that's ok, click finish or cancel. Then another wizard will popup to install ADB device and will sucessfully install.
10.Double-click "RunMe.bat" (it may just say "RunMe") in the downloaded Root Tool you extracted to a new folder and follow all instructions you see on the application (for SoftwinerEvb tablet choose option 1 by pressing 1 key and then enter/return key on your keyboard).
I've succesfully rooted my SoftwinerEvb (4.1.1 JB) Tablet with it. I haven't flashed any custom recovery, rom, or kernel yet.
HAVE FUN!!
I'll try and answer any questions if I can.

[Q] Xperia Ray doesn't show up on computer, how to unlock bootloader?

I apologize for making this thread again as I misunderstood my device name previously (I thought it's a Play but it's a Ray)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49236873
Is there any way for this device to unlock bootloader without connecting to the pc?
I can access fastboot (the blue light) but my pc doesn't say anything nor the device show up in device manager when connected, Flashtool doesn't detect anything.
Is there a way to install ROM without connecting to the computer, only accessing fastboot?
Thank you.

No, that's not possible
I guess you should try reinstalling all drivers from flashtool for all devices, or try installing PC Companion or SEUS. If that's not working, open the windows device manager and uninstall/update the drivers for your phone when it's connected
