Hi guys
I have a sii that is not turning on at all
I have another sii
I have removed the mb off the non working sii and tested it in the working sii and it doesn't work
I have put the working mb sii in the non working sii screen and it works (this eliminates that's its a screen issue)
I am sure that this is a mb issue as I also cannot go to the download menu by pressing the power button, home button and volume down key with no success
I tried multiple batteries with n luck (batteries are in working order)
I also pressed the power button down for 10 seconds with n without the battery - failed
I have very important photos that I need to retrieve and unfortunately I can't access them so far
I was thinking, is it possible to remove the storage from the non working mb onto the good mb? If so, where is the storage chip located on the sii mb?
P.s. this happened suddenly with no physical damage at all
Samsung has advised that they will wipe everything out to begin troubleshooting hence they are no good for me in this so xda... Plz help!!!

I dont think that you can replace the storage
That has convinced me to start saving photos on the SD card rather
Reminder: no playing with mobos.

I had a similar problem. phone was running great. one morning it would not turn on. no baterry charging, no recovery no down load mode. not even with a jig. definate hardware problem. sent it to moble tech. needed a new motherboard, they dont do that repair. they sent it back. I bought a new sg2. 4 months later I pulled it of the shelf, slipped a battery in and it powered up, booted and runs fine. who the hell knows.

I'm dying here guys
Is there no one that can do this
Where are all those guys that know everything about everything
Plzzzzzzzzz help
Ask local mobile repair shops (not Samsung/authorised repairers) or even computer shops that can do data recovery from hard drives, etc. That's your best (only) chance. This is not something you're going to do yourself.
P.S - Re: the whiny "Where are all those guys that know everything about everything Plzzzzzzzzz help", what do you honestly expect anyone here to say/do ? You have a hardware problem. We're not there with you. We can't help.
P.P.S - Let this be a lesson to you/everyone else who doesn't do backups. If your data is that important, back it up. Given free cloud storage & cheap SD cards, people have no excuse to not do this. I have zero sympathy for people who don't backup their data.

Hi - I'm using a Galaxy S3 right now and it's not powering on at all. Battery is guaranteed not empty as it has been on charge all morning. It's rooted and running SuperNexus - I9300 - BUILD 4.
I can't even get into download mode - tried powering on with volume keys held up and/or down along with home key and power key but no luck
I've called Samsung and they will take it away for warranty repair but my worry is if they know it's rooted - will they refuse to fix it?
I'm clutching at straws but has anyone got any other suggestions I could try?
I imagine you already tried this, but when it happened to me last, I simply took the battery out for a few and put it back in, then it fired up. Has only happened to me once though.

yeh it's been out for a few minutes. Maybe i should try it for a little while longer.
One thing I forgot to mention is that sometimes I would pick up the phone to look at something and the screen would be blank but the soft keys would be lit up. The only way to get the screen back was to keep the power button pressed down for 10 seconds or so so that it switched off and then back on.
This is what happened this time - but only this time it's refusing to come back on

There's a known issue with some devices having problems with this in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993044
But if your device was starting to have problems before... maybe it wasn't related to motherboard but something else, maybe even software related... But still, if the device is not powering at ALL you should be good with samsung, as they will just replace the motherboard and thats all (at least some ppl had it repaired even rooted and with CM installed on the thread I linked above.
Good luck and share your adventure with the SAT (if you finally send it there) on the other post
If your in the eu then rooting your phone won't affect the warranty. It's been confirmed a few times in the thread posted above. It sounds to me like another mother board failure.

Technical service
Alright then. Description of my problem first I guess. I was not at home and running out of battery on my S2, but play store asked me to update some application so I agreed. After this I got the message that my phones internaly storage was running low, and keep in mind that I had near to no battery life (like 5%) and was not near any sort of charge point. I tried to access the applications page, to delete some apps that I never used and when I did my phone randomly and crazily got stuck and switched off. I'm assuming it somehow drained the 5% battery life I had left.
I got home thinking I could just switch on my phone and delete some applications that I wasn't using...that was 2 days ago...I can't even get past the samsung splash screen. It goes on a horrible boot loop and I've just about tried everything apart from hard resetting and I don't want to do that as I haven't backed my phone up recently...
If anyone knows any other methods, could you please please help? I would really appreciate it if I could keep my files and just enter my phone to delete a couple applications...which I'm assuming is the problem.
What have you tried? What firmware do you have? More info would be nice

yay for quick replies. I have tried cold booting, and soft resetting...I also went into recovery and cleared the cache partition to see if it would help and so far nothing... I have absolutely no idea what firmware I have and I have no idea how to check. I never tried to root my phone or install other roms.
OK so if you have no idea what firmware you was on don't reset Cuz if you was on 4.0.4 kiss good by to your phone. Was it ICS or jb? Do you know this? Pull battery out leave for a bit "5 mins" and try again. If that don't work and your not sure on firmware you need Odin to replace firmware yes data will be lost. Can you get to download mode?
Hi there! Long time reader, first time poster (TL;DR below...but it should be a quick read anyways )
So I've been using this S2 of mine for almost 4 years now, haven't had any trouble (other than a couple of battery swaps). For the past 6 months or so I've been using CM 12.1 nightlies without issue.
The events:
- The other day, my phone froze (I wasn't using it when it froze, it was when I went to use it that I noticed...it was on the wifi selection screen if it matters), so I held the power button to shut it down, and when I powered it back up, it just froze at the Samsung boot screen (with the usual yellow triangle).
- At this point, I was able to reboot into download mode at will, but any attempt to boot to recovery just led to the freeze at the Samsung boot screen. Also, the phone would automatically reboot itself at this point any time I inserted the battery (I was of course putting the battery in and out trying everything I could).
- I would have reflashed from Odin at this point, but since I was away for a few days I just kept trying to reboot into recovery, to no avail. On one of these attempts (power+vol up+ home) it showed the Samsung boot screen, and then immediately shut down and I haven't been able to get anything onto the screen since
I'm now home, and I can't seem to fix it. If I plug the phone into a charger, the top half or so of the phone gets warm, and it also seems to get warm if it isn't plugged in and I try to power it up. I was thinking maybe the phone was maybe doing the same thing as before and just not showing anything on screen, but I blindly do the steps to get it into download mode, and Odin doesn't recognize anything (drivers are definitely installed). I have also tried other batteries, no luck.
Any ideas of what I might try? I'm willing to do anything. For the record nothing happened to the phone at all when this all happened (no dropping or water damage or anything, just my attempts at booting into recovery). Maybe I should try a jig? I'm also open to opening the phone if there's something I can do, though I don't have experience with this.
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
TL;DR: phone froze (running CM 12.1 nightly), held power to shut it down, and then consistently froze at the boot screen on any attempts to power it on. After a few attempts at booting into recovery (the phone would only freeze or enter download mode) the screen suddenly shut off and I haven't seen anything on it since no matter what I try. I can't think of anything that happened to the phone I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thanks
One sentence amongst your description stands out like a 'sore thumb'.....
That the device heats up towards the top when you attempt to charge it.......
Until you try a jig I can't be certain, but that heating coupled with a dead/unresponsive screen along with a lack of recovery and/or download modes (download mode is 'hardwired' into the device, and NOTHING should be able to corrupt it) are the primary symptoms of a failed motherboard.......
That is my opinion based on my experience in these forums and personal experience with a (now dead) S2 (one of two that I own).........
Get the jig just to be sure, but I'd be surprised if it had any effect.....sorry to be typing something you don't want to read, but you said it yourself, the device is 4 years old....it's been in service roughly twice as long as most smartphones, and they don't last forever....

Thanks dude! It's nice to have some idea of what happened. I am indeed very happy my phone has lasted me this long, and my friend is gonna give me an extra S2 she has anyways it seems so it's all good!
I'll try the jig and update here with the result (I ordered one online...will arrive in January sometime)...just in case anyone is curious.

Sorry it took me a while...the jig was in the post haha. It didn't do anything at all (no response when I plugged it in) so I think it's safe to say you were bang-on and the motherboard failed! Happily using a new S2 (with CM13.0 now ) on behalf of my friend though.
Thanks again.
Sounds familiar. Happened to me also due to failed cyanogenmod update (CM13). Only thing that works is download mode, so i'm not given up hope yet.
I can't post a link but google ''Apply Update Failure samsung galaxy s II'' there's a thread about this on the cyanogenmod forum.

oh mine was just straight up dead...no download mode or anything visible on the screen (and nothing to do with CM13 either)
hope you get yours sorted out! have you tried reflashing anything via Odin while in download mode?
Its hard to tell you and hard to accept. You can almost give up the hope, your NAND Chip is just what we call " wear-out ". In the most cases no write is possible anymore, the funny part is -> sometimes read is still fine. If that is the case: The system is booting and working, but saving just nothing. The NAND is frozen to its state before it broke.
At our local store, customers come to us with issues like " Factory Reset impossible ", "Can't delete my Files" "Can't create files". All these Devices have inaccessible NAND's and inaccessible Recovery. Only Bootloader is working, but as the NAND is broken, flashing doesn't change anything.

Hi guys, I'm sincerely apologizing if this is the wrong place to open a thread about something like that, I couldn't figure out where else to write down my issue. I've been told here are people that know the most about devices and that someone might be able to solve an issue I got with my Samsung s6 Edge. The samsung support has been not helpful at all and it's either sending it to them to repair it and loose all my files or at least before doing that at least trying to save some of my personal files. The problem yet is that I can't even get into my phone. I was charging it at night and suddenly I saw a flashing Samsung Logo on screen with a blue LED that flashes as well. So the device had to be turned itself off and then it was restarting but it couldn't get pass the 2nd SAMSUNG loading Screen and got stuck. That's all. From then on I wasn't able to do anything with it. First I thought it may be making some updates, but then again I turned off my wifi before going to sleep. So that can't be the case. I waited hours, because I was hoping it might get pass it at some point but it didn't. While waiting I looked up tutorial to fix it but nothing seemed to work out and then I called the samsung support which basically just told me to turn it on and off without any real solving advice. So here I am. desperate to just save up the last photos and that's it. Does anyone know a solution that won't mess with my guarantee.
Thanks for reading if you made it up to here,

Hey
1st did you use google photos and enable syncing? If so all pics will be saved in the cloud.
2nd the only fix is to do emergency firmware restore via Samsung smart switch. It won't mess with your guarantee but you will lose all data on the phone.
3rd you can manually flash the stock firmware with Odin.. Doing this you will lose your guarantee and all data.
Before you do anything power off the phone. Then when off hold home, power and vol up. It will boot to recovery menu... Press wipe cache partition then reboot phone. See if that works.
If not hold only vol down and power.... As soon as it boots release power and continue holding vol down until its fully booted up on home screen.
Let me know how you get on

Thank you very much for trying to help me! unfortunately the sync wasn't on and none of those pictures I'm trying to rescue were saved. Learned my lesson tho and will make sure to always have it on from now on. As for now the solution didn't help. After following your good advice my phone decided not to go with it and brought me back the same flashing samsung logo and blue light. :/

Hello everyone
I have Samsung Tab S3 since it's release in 2017 .. and it was a very nice tab till a couple months ago ..
It started restarting by itself .. and it happenes always when I'm not using it or when I'm pausing a video ..
And when I leave it for a couple hours i find out that it's turned off and it can't be turned on till I hard restart it ..
I tried :
Emptying the battery to the end then recharge and didn't work.
Removing SD card and didn't work.
Entering safe mode and still restarted.
Wipe cash partition didn't work.
Factory reset and didn't work.
And finally flash stock ROM with Odin without rooting .. problem not solved
When I put the tab on power saver the restarting takes so much longer to happen ..
Could it be a hardware related thing? Or a battery thing?
Thank you in advanced for your help
*Edit 1 (problem fixed) : I rooted my tablet and installed Kernel Auditor app and changed the governor to Userspace and set the minimum frequency of the CPU to 422 instead of 307 and made the app do the settings change on boot . After this it had not restarted for 3 days.
*Edit 2 lately I flashed lineageOS unofficial 18.1 android 11 into the tablet and edited the big clusters only to interval governor while keeping the small ones with blue schedule. My tablet now is working like a charm with no issue.
Has the battery SOT time noticeably decreased?
If below 80% of its original capacity it's time to replace it.
Any swelling is a battery failure, replace asap.
Changes in charging behavior could indicate a failure as well.
Has it been dropped or exposed to moisture? You see where this is going... mobos can also randomly fail.
Does it happen in safe mode?
Check it to rule out 3rd party apps.
Original rom, don't update the system apps, all power management should be disabled.
Pull SD card if it has one for now before reload.

*After the restarting it gets stuck and shuts down and you have to turn it on by (down+power), if you turn it on immediately you have the same battery percentage but if I let it through the night and force turning it on the battery is decreased alot, it looks like when the tab is off after the freezing and restarting it is consuming alot of battery even if it's off.
*I tried the safe mode it still restarts
*I went to the beach 6 months ago and it stopped charging because of the moisture for about a week then it got back to its normal state
*I noticed that When I boot into (downloading mode) or (recovery mode) it stays on for days and doesn't restart or freeze
If you got salt water in it, it's already dead.
Needs to be pulled apart and inspected for corrosion damage. Sorry...

You mean the motherboard or the battery is dead ?
If the mobo got salt water on it or even water in it can destroy it. Current flow greatly accelerates corrosion.
The tab needs be dissembled*, dried and inspected for damage especially where there's high current flow and exposed conductors.
Sooner is better...
*pull battery connector asap
