I'm not sure what's causing this. It seems to have started when I first rooted the phone. Voice recognition isn't working. When I try to use google search the circle around the microphone icon will move, but the icon doesn't turn red as it does when it recognizes voice. If I cup my hands around the microphone on the phone and pretty much yell, sometimes I can get it to work. Other times I can't. Tried another test, downloaded a voice recording app and when I recorded, I could hear my voice but it was INCREDIBLY quiet. I couldn't make out what I was saying at full volume. I have had no complaints about my voice when on phone calls. Does anyone have any idea what this is, or what a fix would be? I'm rooted currently, have tried multiple different roms with the same outcome. Am I just missing a setting somewhere?

Anybody have any hints for using voice recognition with a headset? It knows I'm trying to talk to it, but it doesn't seem to know what I'm saying so it keeps telling me to try again instead of dialing.
I've been experimenting and if I use the Voice Search application on the phone everything appears to work except that somehow sound coming and going is completely cut off.
Voice Dialer doesn't work with the headset or without.
I can use Voice Search to place the call and then turn on my headset and switch over, but I get an error on the screen that the communication app has failed. The error being on screen doesn't interfere with the call though.
Odd effect is that the volume control buttons got stuck on bluetooth in-call volume. I had to restart the phone to clear it.
I assume you are referring to voice dialing from a bluetooth headset. As far as I can tell from reading the forums it never worked but has been fixed in the new 351 update (Android 2.2.2). It didnt work for me on the 318 build but now does on the 351 build. I dont believe voice search works from a bluetooth headset though as far as I know.

I can pair my phone with my car but 90% of the time I cannot hear the other caller and get a lot of distortion and hear myself echoing. The caller can hear me but not too well. A couple of times it worked ok. It seemed to work better when I had lite'ning rom installed, but due to an issue with car mode popping up randomly I have played around with various different roms. Now though my phone whilst pairing fine will just not work audio wise with my car. It is a 2010 BMW z4. BMW site lists the phone as compatible. I have searched high and low but the only problem I can find tends to be contacts not showing up etc. For me this is fine I just can't hear anyone when I make a call.
Is there something I can do with the phone to make it work? I found a root related bluetooth apk file remnaming thing but it didn't work.
Please help as this is driving (literally) me nuts.
Anyone got any ideas on this?
Ok, I investigated more. I have a program called Total Recall installed. It can be set to record all calls. On previous ROM's I think it occasionally crashed or got stopped when I closed stuff with task manager. On this ROM it seems to work constantly. This may be why my car Bluetooth used to work on occasions and not others.
I froze it with MyBackup Pro and voilĂ my car worked properly with the phone.
So I guess my next question is does anyone know anything about this program and why it would mess up car Bluetooth? If I can't get it to work can anyone recommend an alternative?
EDIT: Seems I can set it not to try and record if BT connected. Shame as that would be useful.
I just got a Plantronics Marque M155 headset. I was rooted with Paranoid Android, and determined I could only receive phone calls with the headset. I reverted back to stock rooted ROM for Bell Mobility (i747m), was able to make outgoing calls through S-Voice, albeit some contacts are extremely difficult for me to initiate a call with. I did try to add a new field Phonetic Name, but it is still hard to get it to match properly.
I then tried another ROM, JellyBam, and back to the same issue of not being able to make outgoing calls with the headset. Everything is paired properly, I can listen to music through the headset, as well as hear my system sounds.
I am assuming there are no ROMs that are compatible, I spent hours and hours looking on several different sites, as well as Google, and really didn't turn up with anything.
I did try disabling SVoice, so that I could use Google Now, but that also doesn't seem to work.
I enabled Driving Mode under Language and Input, thinking that when I got a phone call, it would read the incoming name/number over the headset, that doesn't seem to work either.
I sure would like to find a workaround, one that doesn't involve me having to start memorizing people's numbers so I can make phone calls.
When I make a call the phone almost freezes but does make the call after several seconds. But then there is no audio, I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. When someone calls me sometimes it takes so long for my S5 to answer that it goes to voicemail. When the phone does answer, there is no audio either way and the phone is extremely slow to end the call and close the dialer app.
The sim card works fine in other phones.
Alternate dialer apps do the same thing.
I get the same results on several different roms/android versions including Nougat, Marshmallow, Kit Kat.
Every other function of the phone works great (LTE, Text, audio, etc..).
I've completely wiped the phone several times trying different roms, etc..
Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?
replace motherboard and speaker
Hi there people.
I've got the following issue. If anyone has this issue or has fixed it let me know.
Calls seem to be interfering with my mic. Sometimes my voice doesn't go to the other end even though normal call or whatsapp call. They might hear 1 word then nothing from me for a few seconds then a word or two and it sometimes sounds like a clicking noise.
I've called my self too and I can't hear anything on my RM7 but whoever I call can hear the clicking noise and sometimes nothing from me.
Sometimes I can't hear the other person too. It cuts out.
Same with normal calls and whatsapp calls.
Continuing my testing, I can send voice notes without issue and receive them and play it via rhe earpiece without issue too. Even voice recording and video recording the microphone does a good job only in calls it bugs out.
Continuing my testing
Works fine with headphones connected. But mic and earpiece work fine when used by voice notes and video ect
I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but I have the same issue. It started around last week.
I cleaned my speakers and mic thinking I got dirt build up. But it's still the same.
It seems like a software issue. Looking at the patch notes in latest OS update (NX679J_UNcommon_V3.16) for me, they have listed "Repair: possible issues with calls in some scenarios". I don't know when they released the update and when I applied it to my phone but that could be the reason for this issue too.
After reading your post I tried regular calls with headphones, speakers and video call with Google meet. They all work fine.
For call on speaker, as soon as you turn the speaker off it starts acting up again.
Hopefully they will fix this issue soon.
From my testing it seems like its an app or something interfeering with the calls. I started the phone up in safe mode (no 3rd party apps only stock ones) and the issue was gone, so the issue is a app related issue, thinking its a virus I just reset the phone to factory and all is good now. I didnt find what was causing it.
Thanks for an update.
I will play around a bit and if it doesn't work out then will do the same.
