[Q] MIUI and "Homebutton" - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
today I installed the newest version of MIUI on my Samsung Galaxy S3/III. But I got a problem which seems no one can solve, and I hope someone of you got a tip.
My homebutton (the button at the bottom) isnt working with it. I tried different kernels and also costum MIUI ROM's but nothing seems to help.
The button is working on CM or the Stock ROM so the button works.
I already tried to find something on my own but I cant find a solution.
I wanna thank you already for every answer which may helps.

if you have a root explorer then go to system/usr/keylayout/generic.kl you need to open this with a text editor, make sure your menu buttons dont have a # in front of it because having a # at the start disables the button
key 127 and key 139 should not have a # in front if so remove it then save and reboot, good luck mate

im sorry that didnt work for you my friend, i hope someone can suggest something else that can enable it, their could be a application preventing it from working, you could try checking out some of the apps that need root permission

so i tried different kernels now nothing helps.
i also double checked the file you talked about, its alright.
might live without the home button or end up using cm 10

This happened to me. You need to follow the instructions to the letter for installing. On the MIUI Android website they specifically mention this issue and how to remedy.
I wouldn't live without the home button lol.

looks like the Key Code config is some kind of strange.
Some stock kernarls are like that, you just gotta learn how to deal with it -.-

1) This is not a stock kernal. It is a CM7.2 based ROM.
2)stock rom had an option to enable & disable it.
3) Dont want to consider flashing another ROM just because of this issue coz this is really good.

This ROM is really smooth & looks good. Only a minor patch may be required to solve this issue.

Since the "power button ends call" option is missing in CM7 and it ends calls out of the box and you really hate hanging up on people when you accidently press the button in call, here is a fix for those interested ---- Remap the powerbutton to turn screen on/off instead of ending call:
Edit /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl with a text editor and look for the line:
"key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED"
Replace ENDCALL with POWER to make it look like this:
"key 107 POWER WAKE_DROPPED"
Original post location:

After making this change the option in Settings>Accessibility is also becomes visible.. strange!!

It's not there cause it never installs on roms lower than ICS.
that is what i said... even in the original thread many people have mentioned that it only works on 4.0+. Anybody who has tried on GB has reported the parsing package problem
Yep. Its coz of flying things in home which need ICS or JB framework and API to work...
If anyone can port the home for GB too its will be gread.

BoneStock ROM Discussion

Thought it might be useful to start a thread over here to relieve some of the congestion & frustration from the one in the Dev section.
Here we, as users of BoneStock, can share and help each other without bothering a great developer with every detail. I wouldn't expect andybones to show up here at all. If it's something we can sort out we can then take it over to the Dev section to get his attention.
I'll start it off with a subject andybones has already disavowed himself of.....
I'm still on the stock kernel and looking for experiences with the one from ktoonsez. I had very good results with a later version (7/24?) when on JellyBeans but have seen others posting best results on the 7/7 build. Just looking for a bit more information/experiences before taking the plunge.
Aroma Dependencies
athlonxp2300 has started a good thread on interdependencies based on choices you may make during installation. You can find the discussion over here in the T-Mobile forum.

Not sure. All of the problems you are having are working great for me. I use hot spot everyday. I tried out the Ktoonz kernel yaesterday, the 8/4 I believe it was. Great at first but then had weird things start happening like icons on my home screen being blacked out, they were there but just a silhouette. Then random black boxes would appear in the background, like on the wallpaper. I could still see my icons. Anyone else have any issues similar to this? Went back to stock kernel and problems went away, and this was the first time I tried any Kernel besides stock.
Is there anyway to theme the status bar? I came from jelly beans ROM and loved be able to change my status bar color, battery etc. I know 3minit does this but not sure how that works on bonestock.

Please forgive me for asking such an obvious question, but are you sure wifi is enabled? The only time I see the bottom button grayed out is when it's not. I know I've overlooked something this simple myself.

Thanks.
Why work when you can play with your phone?
OK, I decided nothing from nothing is, well....(and what are backups for?)....just flashed the 8/9 kernel and will run a while with the default settings - touching nothing - and see how it goes. My intention is to let it go for some time (overnight? a day?) and if all is well change a very small group settings, rinse and repeat. I'll report back.
If you do go the 7/7 route please let us know the results. Could be informative to compare.
Didn't take long. Came back to my phone & it had shut down. After booting it reported a couple of apps not installed - XDA being one. Recovered them from backup, reboot & now back up & going. Will see where it goes.

[REQ]$$ for LG G3 keyboard on Lollipop

If ones available, point me in the direction and the bounty is yours!
I don't think its possible without porting stuff
It's not easily possible since the keyboard requires LG framework, which current L doesn't have. The smartest thing to do is wait till we get the official 5.0 update.
I realize it will be released soon. Just tired of the current options. Really like that darn keyboard.
Once the lollipop comes out by lg I will TRY to upload
---------- Post added at 02:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 AM ----------
You can try this its the google keyboard with a number row (like the g3 keyboard) heres the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/lollipop-keyboard-phones-root-t2910268
Also I didn't make this
---------- Post added at 02:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:39 AM ----------
If you want the number row download the "123" verison.
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't find that link. With all the searching I did between Google and XDA, you figure I would.
Sorry its called lollipop 123

Did this work for you? This is all I ended up with. I tried editing the build. Prop, with no success.
Well if that didn't work the lollipop 123 keyboard should work I use it everyday and I think there are themes for it.
I have tried it, didnt work for me thats why I stuck with the keyboard from above it works and has the number row(like lg keyboard) and if you find a blacked out theme then it could be LIKE the lg keyboard
---------- Post added at 01:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 PM ----------
Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387785
These are a LOT of themed keyboards maybe one will come CLOSE I found some that did, but you might find one that is a little closer to what you want also if you pick the one with the numbered row and set the them to "Holo blue" its really close to the lg one. Other wise I don't think that that there is a port as of right now.
Here what it looks like Its a little close and then heres the apk View attachment Lollipop+123+Keyboard+1.1.apk

Thank you for this ROM. Like a very tiny selection of ROMs I've found this looks Russian. It is the fastest most overall fluid ROM I've ever tried in my MN2.
The only thing that does not work is 'additional buttons' in settings. Everything else is flawless.
I do not speak or read Russian but just followed the steps in the pictures lol.
Will try an send logcat about additional buttons' crash.
Otherwise this ROM is flawless an gets the best out of Mi Note 2 ?
I thank you an HIGHLY recommend this ROM.

The only thing that does not work is 'additional buttons' in settings. Everything else is flawless.
I do not speak or read Russian but just followed the steps in the pictures lol.
Will try an send logcat about additional buttons' crash.
Otherwise this ROM is flawless an gets the best out of Mi Note 2
I thank you an HIGHLY recommend this ROM.

Yes, I agree, rom is quite good, for button swap you can try an app called button remapper (free on play store)
