I'm on the 3.15 RUU with 2.09 HBOOT. I used dirty racun for s-off and am HTCdev unlocked obviously. I know I can't undo the HTCdev unlock.
In what order do I need to do these things to relock bootloader/unroot and restore to stock 3.15?
I'm thinking:
1.) Flash stock recovery image then flash stock 3.15 RUU.
2.) Relock bootloader
3.) profit?
4.) skip like a fairy
If I flash the stock RUU that will restore S-ON correct?
BTW, is there an active link for the stock JB 3.15? HTCruu is no more and that was the only place I knew.

This is all I know for now, a stock, rooted rom. I'm trying to find the full RUU dot exe file. I have the link around here somewhere.
I was trying to post the link, and didn't notice at first, that I'm too new. I was going to spell out the URL, but didn't want to offend the moderators. When I was HTCdev unlocked and wanted to get back to stock ICS and take the OTA to get Jellybean, I followed the Youtube link at the bottom of that post to relock the bootloader. After that, I then ran the RUU from my computer. That brought my phone back to stock. (Then I took the OTA to Jellybean, unlocked again, and installed a new ROM, but that's not what you're looking to do, it sounds like)
1. Reboot into bootloader
2. Set phone to fastboot option
3. Connect phone to pc with adb folder already setup on computer (htc drivers etc).
4. Make sure computer says "fastboot usb"
5. Open command prompt from your adb folder
6. Type "fastboot oem lock"
7. Run 3.15.651.16 RUU exe file on computer and sit back.
Since you have 2.09 hboot then you're stuck using the 3.15 ruu file....hope that helps...let us know how it ended up.

Damn I'm blind. I've had that file the whole time and kept looking right over it due to the way I had files displaying. These RUU files will overwrite everything, including the recovery image, correct?
How I miss doing this stuff on nexus device, oh well.

Yea the ruu will overwrite EVERYTHING...it'll basically make your phone as if you just opened the box....only thing is to make absolutely sure you have the correct one that matches your current hboot....

RUU will return you to stock. It's an exe file you run on your pc. Here's a lengthy post I made for someone else earlier today with instuctions:
p.s. I looked up that ICS Rom and it says "Updated: Mainver to 2.01.605.11" so you should run the RUU with that mainver number in the file name.

I'm currently running Innefabilis 1.0 (Gingerbread) and running DSB's Kernel (Stock but tweaked). I'm a little confused on how to update my Firmware and Radio after reading many threads in the Development Section.
Recently I flashed an ICS ROM and had the mainver error every time I tried to revert back to Gingerbread. I finally fixed the mainver error and would like to update my phone to the latest Firmware AND Radio.
As far as I've read, in order for me to update my Firmware and Radio, I have to do a NAND Backup, relock my device, install the latest update via bootloader, and unlock again and restore my ROM. Though I've seen in other threads some people didn't need to relock their devices to install the latest update.
My questions are:
1) Do I need to flash a Stock Rooted ROM before I relock my phone to do the update? Because I've removed some bloatware from my current ROM.
2) Is there an easier method to Update my Firmware and Radio on my Rooted Rezound? If so, would someone like to provide me easy steps to doing so?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here's a post of directions I made for someone else recently. Hope it helps.
Also, if you want to get back on Ineffabilis you can either restore a nand or flash it again without issue, then if you want to use the dsb kernel you will need to either 1) edit the android-info.txt file inside the dsb zip file or 2) flash it up to the point where it wants to "update", don't update, go to fastboot and copy out the boot.img from the dsb zip into your sdk folder and flash it from there. If you want to use Ineffabilis and the new stock kernel you'll need to flash the new kernel modules from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467793 since Ineffabilis has the old ones. *Unless they've updated the ROM, I haven't checked the last couple days.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You'll then have to delete the PHzip file from your sd card.
Now back to getting the OTA update...

3) Reboot phone and let it flash the PHzip file. It should reboot completely when it's finished.
4) delete the PHzip file using a file explorer app like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer.
5) get the phone back into fastboot. Unlock again using adb/fastboot. I don't remember the exact command but you can find that in the guide for unlocking.
6) reinstall su using Amon Ra.
Now you should be stock OTA rooted with the new goodies.
Check in Settings > About phone > Software info > More to see that you got all the new stuff.

I've already updated my radio and firmware to the latest versions. I was wondering, is it okay to still reflash Ineffabilis v1.0 with the latest update?
Yeah there isnt a pronlem with that i think. Just dont restore you nandroid over top of it. You'll need to do pretty much a clean install.

unless you hex your bootloader... I Downloaded the Official RUU .. locked the bootloader ran the update, unlocked... booted into android enabled debugging.. pulled that thing and changed my mainver down to 1.. sent the file back and rebooted
If your already on a mainver pass 3.602.11 (some****) then you need to find a way to flash the radio via a PH98IMG or hex your bootloader down and flash the RUU /OTA

No, you can get the OTA without editing your actual phone file.
There's a link to that in my lengthy post above. See the part where it says if you are on mainver 3.x, there's a link to a thread about dealing with that there. Also try searching using the terms "stock ics" and you should come up with threads about getting back to stock from 3.x mainver. I guess I forgot to paste my results in that post cuz I see I mentioned it.
Basically you need to edit a text file included in whatever package you are flashing OR you should be able to flash in fastboot without worrying about it. I successfully flashed a kernel in fastboot that had given me a mainver error when I tried to flash in recovery.

Sorry to post in another users topic but after I "relock" my phone wont boot it sits at white screen, adb reboot recovery just says waiting for devices and if I go to fastboot or try to open recovery I can not.

I'm struggling with all the terminology and methods with flashing. Basically I just wanted root, so I read several different guides and got a rooted status and managed to install the Amon Ra recovery. However my bootloader (also called HBOOT - is that correct?) shows tampered / unlocked now. Basically, I want to flash back to the most current build and try again.
Would the link on the Android Police forums to download RUU 4.03.605.2 be latest Verizon build as if it were fresh out of the box?
I checked on the wiki, but didn't see anything for the Rezound there.
Also, to use this utility, I relock my bootloader using HTCDev and then move this zipped file to my sd card and reboot to the bootloader either using adb or the power + volume down, correct? It will see the zip file and begin flashing or do I run an executable from my PC with the phone connected? I'm not S-Off because I figured that is way above my head at this point.
I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
The tampered just means you have a custom recovery like Amon Ra installed.

Having S-OFF negates the need to relock your bootloader.
You should be able to flash the "RUU" zip file with your phone in its current condition.
If you do some research in this section in the S-OFF threads, you'll get some good info about not re locking after s-off.
Re-locking is only necessary if you don't have s-off.

to reinstall the RUU, first make sure you have fastboot on your PC and your phone is in the fastboot menu of the bootloader and connected to your PC. It should say "fastboot USB". (If you don't have the HTC drivers installed, download HTC Sync 3.0 and that should install it. I haven't gotten it to work on Windows 8 so if you use Windows 8 use these drivers)
Open a command prompt, change the directory to where your fastboot.exe is (example: cd c:\fastboot_directory). Type in 'fastboot oem lock'. Your phone will restart, then boot up. Turn it off, reboot to the bootloader and make sure it says *RELOCKED* on the top. Then, go back to fastboot and in your cmd window, type in 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'. Your phone will reboot and show a black screen with a grey HTC logo. Copy the RUU (doesn't matter if it's named PH98IMG.zip or something else) into the same folder as fastboot.exe and type in 'fastboot flash zip ruu_zip_name.zip' (obviously replacing ruu_zip_name.zip with the zip's actual name). The terminal will start sending the zip and details will be displayed on your computer screen. Your phone will also have a progress bar. Once the terminal on your computer says it's finished, you can reboot your phone.
I am currently S-On, unlocked, running Newts One XXX with the Global OTA (4.03.605) Sense 4 Kernel. I would now like to get the 4.03.605.2 firmware installed. Would the procedure described above work for my situation or is there another method I can use.
My next leap is to go S-off but for now I would just like to get the firmware updated before reflashing Newts.

Yes, you can use the above method fine. However, going S-Off is very easy. It seems like a daunting task, but if you read the directions thoroughly it is very easy. I used the .5 version of Juopunutbear and it worked without a hitch. You are already unlocked and rooted, so if you S-Off, you won't have to do it all over again. From there you can flash the RUU, flash a FLASHABLE version of AR 3.15, then reflash any rom that you want. You will only get the benefit from global with roms that are built aroung the .2 base, but you will get updated radios. I haven't honestly noticed much of a difference with the new radios though.

After locking bootloader(cuz your s-on) rename the ruu you downloaded from android police To PH98IMG put on your sd return sd phone boot into bootloader run update, if it stops and powers off mid update remove battery and start it again, It flashed the hboot first then you gotta go back In And finish the update.

Also to avoid any problems do a factory reset in hboot after update is installed. Being that we're s-on when we re-unlock it does it for us but I've heard some people are having problems after the ruu if they didn't FDR while on stock recovery.. just a heads up

Just to clarify: when you reboot using "adb reboot" or power + volume down, are you booting into the bootloader or hboot? I've read the guides but still a little confused there.
Also, what does the stock recovery do versus something like Amon Ra? Does the stock recovery allow for creating backups and what-not? Sorry to be a total noob here. I can bake cookies or something for you all for your help, hehe.

The bootloader is the hboot. You power on holding vol down to get there.
The stock recovery does not allow you to create backups, or do much at all I'm pretty sure. That is why we have custom ones.

Do you mean flash the RUU in the bootloader and then the recovery also in bootloader? i only ask cause im at school and i forgot my microsd adapter so i cant rename the zips so that I can flash both of them from there, but if i can do it from recovery then im set

Sorry that you never got an answer to this. Yes, you should flash both recovery (stock) and the RUU as PH98IMG zip files. Wait to start this process until you have a pc/sd card reader available. Trying this without those basic tools is going to make this a frustrating process for you.

Hey guys I am looking for a little help. I had an IDIOT error.
I have a rezound that I put a custom recovery and unlocked via hosoons tool. Then I flashed a custom Rom (newts hybrid).
Well I started reading about how its easier to flash etc if you are s-off. So I tried restoring my stock unrooted backup. While restoring it failed and I came to find out its because I needed to also restore the boot.IMG. so I went to try and find it and my backup was gone! I have went thru internal and external its no where.
So I reflashed the Rom and boot IMG the correct way and am now running that. So my basic question is am I sol? Am I stuck on this Rom?
Thank for any help.
Sorry for the crappy type out I am at work and just got time to write this up. I will update what I get home.
P.s I did a lot of searching and couldnt find anything.

It's as easy as extracting the boot.img file and using fastboot to install the boot.img file.
Open up the ROM you downloaded and extract the boot.img file.
Place the boot.img in the folder where you have fastboot, ex:
d:\phones\rezound\bootloader\andriod\
Boot into recovery; flash your ROM; boot into the bootloader; then run fastboot from the command prompt:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

I understand the boot.IMG flashing procedure I just didn't realize it was necessary to restore a backup and now my stock back up is not available and I have no idea where it went so I am running the Rom I stated above with no way to go back to stock.

You don't have to go back to stock to change ROMs. You can just wipe and flash another ROM (including whatever kernel comes with it).
But yeah, if you want to s-off you should be stock. Although now it seems even if you are s-on flashing the kernels is automated. I just flashed EclipticRez and it had me select s-off or s-on, I picked s-on and it made the PH98IMG of the kernel and went to hboot. I just had to say yes and delete the file afterwards.
But you can get back to stock by running the RUU found here:

You need to put this on your external sd card, rename it to PH98IMG.zip, relock (fastboot oem lock) and reboot. Hboot will find the file and start running it. Let it run through several times so it gets all the files. It will reboot you once it's done. Then you'll need to unlock again and flash a custom recovery and then you can make a new nand of stock to make it easier to get back to it.
Also, there's an OTA that just rolled out so if you don't want to be bothered by it just don't put the back door on so you won't connect. There's a thread about it in General, seems to be new radios and who knows what else.
But don't you have to be s-off to flash an RUU? Also can you put amon ra recovery on your phone with s-on?

No, you just have to be locked to run the RUU. I'm still s-on and I just did it last night. Then I flashed Amon Ra and then a ROM.
s-off was a later discovery so RUUs and custom recoveries were being flashed by everyone when they were s-on until someone figured out how to s-off.
So while I'm on my Rom I can relock and flash the ruu? Do I need to put the recovery back to stock or will the ruu do that?

The RUU will do that. All you need to do is put it on your sd card if it's a zip file, rename it to PH98IMG.zip, relock and reboot.

Yes.
Save anything you need off both cards. Pictures, music, etc... any files at all.
Make a nandroid of what you have now in case anything goes wrong. (I'm sure it won't)
Relock the phone in fastboot:
fastboot oem lock
Put the RUU file on the sd card and rename it to PH98IMG.zip
Reboot the phone into bootloader (hold vol down then press and hold power until you are in hboot)
Phone will find the PH file and run the RUU. It goes through it a few times. The screen will go dark a few times during the process and it will go through updating after each of those times again. Just let it run it's course and it will reboot your phone when it's done. Delete the PH file if it's still there. (I used my orig 16gb card and popped in my 64gb back in as soon as I did it so I didn't check if it was still on the 16gb card or not, but if it is it will run again so make sure it isn't.)
After that you will need to unlock again using your unlock token. If you don't have it still you can get a new one. I just keep mine in my flashing folder on the pc so it's always there if I need it.
Use this command to unlock:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Then flash your recovery:
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery
Root
Make a nandroid for going back to stock whenever you need to
Flash ROM of choice.

Hey thank you so much for your help! For some reason my phone eouldnt read the PH98img file. So I had to use hasoons tool again and flashed the file that way. Ran it twice and bam back to relocked stock! I really appreciate all of of your guys help!
I do have one more question. Do you have to be s-off to flash amonra recovery? I have read where you don't and where you do...

No, you can flash Amon Ra while s-on. Everyone did before s-off happened. I'm still s-on and I just did the whole RUU thing, Amon Ra, new ROM a couple days ago.
Don't forget to make a nandroid of stock right after you flash Amon Ra.

I'm glad I saw this thread, because I'm in trouble.
I've been running an ICS rom with the gingerbread patch. But tethering never worked.
In an effort to get tethering working, I flashed the new CM10.1 JB rom. Phone stuck at HTC screen. Did some reading, realized I needed to yank the boot.img out of the zip and fastboot it in. Did that, didn't help. I spent 4 hours last night trying every conceivable order of events. rom first, then img. img first, then rom. img via fastboot. img via PH98update file. Nothing works.
I put amon ra on and started all over again. Ugh. My old Sprint Evo was a tank for stuff like this, I swear you could put anything you wanted on it and it would run fine.
Anyway, I was going to come on here and ask if it's possible to go S-OFF with a stuck phone because it's all I could think of.
But now I will try this relock, ruu, unlock, amon ra, root method.
Here goes another 8 hours.

Good luck! Post back if you have any issues. The RUU took me about 10-20 minutes.
After you flash Amon Ra and root make a nandroid so you can easily revert to stock if needed.
Back up and running. The instructions were well written and easy to understand.

However I think this time I just want to go straight to S-OFF. I did the htc dev unlock last time, I have no idea where my token is.
I guess I'd rather go all the way and s-off so I can try that JB rom again without worrying about seperating the boot.img file.
So is it possible to s-off my phone with the RUU listed on this thread? And phone currently locked?
Another question. I don't think I've flashed any firmware which means my phone is still running GB firmware. Does that mean I need to always run the GB patch when running IC or JB roms?

The RUU will have gotten you to the latest firmware if you used the global one at android police.
As to any s-off questions, I'm still s-on so I would get that info from someone else. I don't want to say the wrong thing and get you in a bad spot. There's a long s-ff thread in the general section and I'm sure if you just search you should find the info you need. Or else there's a help thread also in the general section where you can post questions or actually, probably find the answers you need.

I just got a warranty replacement a few days ago. I unlocked it via HTC method and flashed a recovery and all is fine. Flashed a few ROMs and was happy. I decided that I wanted to get S-OFF again tho, and to do that i need to be back on the stock ROM. So i went to flash the latest Verizon ICS OTA's RUU in the bootloader and it see's the zip file, scans it and then just goes to the main bootloader menu and gives me no option to flash. I haven't tried the global RUU because i wasn't sure I can do the S-OFF exploit on the global RUU. Is this normal? I did accept the little OTA verizon is pushing out now and i didn't think that did anything to the bootloader but i wouldn't really know. I have used this exact zip to revert back to stock very recently prior to getting the replacement. It worked fine always, and I would just rename it and leave in in the SDs root directory.

In order to RUU you need to relock your device on HTCdev.com if you still have you unlock_cod.bin file you can skip going to HTC dev and put it in you Android folder you created back when you first unlock. S-off will not be lost nor do you need to S-On to flash the RUU.
make sure you have the SDK and HTC Sync installed. Go to fastboot in bootloader connect your USB cable so its says fastboot usb. Open a command window in the Android folder where you have adb fastboot files. Easiest way is shift right click open command window here. Once your device is connected just type in the command fastboot oem lock this will relock your device and you can now RUU. Once that is over you need to re unlock using the unlock code.bin file from HTC DEV and then flash amon ra recovery using the fastboot flash recovery(name).img and then you may install roms as you please. double check those commands although I am 90 percent positive they are correct commcands. The process I have described is corecct though as I just did this last night to update my radios. Good luck hope this helps
