[Q] Format internal SD - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I want to format the internal SD card, (phone memory), as I feel my phone is getting a little slow while copying files from PC to phone.
What precautions should I take? I hav made a nandroid backup, and Titanium app + system backup. Should I manually make a copy of the folders on the internal SD card on my PC, and restore them to internal SD after format?

yes copy to computer
then reboot into recovery, choose wipe data / factory reset

Yes, backups are stored on the sdcard. Copy your backup to your computer first

where Android stores files

Good morning,
I think that somehow this thread could be related to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304192
but I have a different main question.
Where Android store files? Or, to be clearer, what kind of files are saved on the:
- internal flash (is it a flash? am I right?)
- internal sd
- external sd
The clockworkmod backup what really back up? only the internal flash?
If I'd want to change the rom I use on my lg 2x, from djdroid based on froyo to cyanogenmod based on gingerbread, what if I:
- choose all the 3 swipes from recovery
- format the internal sd card (is it really needed?)
And, most important, if I'd like to completely restore the previous situation (that is, not only the rom, but the settings and data..), is it right the procedure:
- choose all the 3 swipes from recovery
- format the internal sd card
- restore a previous backup with recovery
- restore the content of the internal sd card using a previous backup on my pc (is it really needed?)
Thank you very much, any help or clarification would be really appreciated.

E.g. Galaxy S 2
-internal storage (store system file)
-internal sd (store music)
-external sd (extend to stores music files)
I am using a phone without external SD. What I know is internal storage is storing system file, e.g. apps, data, system, that similar to windows system32 folder.
When you are using clockworkmod backup, normally those backup are stored in sd (external if available). For my situation, it is being stored in internal.
Clockworkmod backup EVERYTHING in your internal storage (not sd), form data, game, cache, or anything in system.
If you are going to restore, it will ONLY restore internal storage and not internal SD.
If you wanted to confirm where those backup clockworkmod files are store in, just go into any file explorer and check ClockWorkMod/backup/(folder with date).

[Q] backup and restore questions

Howdy,
I searched but couldn't find the answer. I have a 32 gb sd card which I inserted, formatted and mounted into my phone. I can copy and paste files from the phone storage and files to it, and vice versa, but when I backup and restore using clockwork mod, it never gives me a choice to backup to external sd card, or to restore from external sd card.
I've tried everything, but can't get clockwork mod to recognize the external sd card. Any suggestions?
Also, if I try to install a zip file from SD card, Clockwork mod does see the card and the files on it, but it just won't list it as a choice to restore from or to backup to.
AFter a bit thinking about it, I guess my question is whether I can backup and restore directly to and from external sd card, or whether I backup and restore to internal card, and then just copy the file to and from my sd card using file manager or explorer?
backup and restore should by default go to external sd. Which version of cwm do you have?

corrently for now i copyed those folders to computer:
gameboy games
tap tap folder
titanum backup
gameloft
data
android
11(roms and kernel folder)
music
any thing else i should move to my computer before i format sd card?if i format sd card ill still have a recovery?
ty for helpers
If you didnot copy any file to Computer and format sd card you still have recovery install and if you are using any offline dictionary then you should move dictionary data folder to Computer before formating sd card.
Any files that are on your SD card will be gone when you format it, so copy over anything you do not want to lose. Formatting your SD card will not get rid of your custom recovery.
Recovery doesn't lost when you format sd card
ok just any 1 can help me format it? i mean an explenation
and any recommendetion on what i should transport to my computer?
plz help?

[Q] Stuck in Samsung logo screen

Hi,
I messed up with the Android software, i installed chainfire app from the Play store and tried running it, After it ran the phone rebooted and got stuck in Welcome screen, I did soft reset by pulling out the battery for 10 mins , but it didnt help.
Now the thing is i dont want to lose my sensitive data. P.s I can enter into CWM recovery mode and also my phone is rooted with Omega ROM 4.1.2. I can see the file structure of my internal SDcard through the install from Internal SDcard Menu, But when i go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the SDcard it says there is an error mounting SDcard, I want to take backup of my folders before preforming a hard reset
I tried fetching files through ADB Shell installed on my PC, But it didnt help , I can see all the folders including SDcard and SDcard1, but both folders are empty without any data, i am sure since i was not able to mount the SDcard it was displaying empty folder. But my question is im able to explore all the folders in my internal SD in recovery mode through the "Install from Internal SDcard menu"
Is there any way to recover the files ?....The only way i can think of is to transfer the Same ROM zip file to Ext SD Card and perform the installation of ROM from recovery mode and again my doubt is will it affect the data on my internal SD card
Is there any way to backup my files from SDcard to PC.

Ok.....My question is why i am not able to mount my Internal SD card in recovery mode and take a backup through ADB in PC.
Is it that CWM doesnt support mounting the Internal SD card...has anyone tried mounting the internal SD card in recovery mode.

when there is no data loss, why backing up via pc again? when you flash rom.zip through ext sd card, the system boots normally into OS. then you may backup the data to pc and perform hard reset as you wish.
