Hey guys. I have a little issue with the messaging app.
Whenever I receive a text message, when I open the messaging app (stock one in this case) the status bar notification persists even after I'd already check those same messages. This happens whether the app is in memory or not, and it lasts longer if the message is open promptly. This has begun with WanamLite XXELLA ROM, stock kernel and jKay Mod.
Anyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance.
I'm assuming you've done a minimal wipe to try and clear this up. If not, it may be worth a shot!

Hi, I've recently installed handcent sms to replace the default messenger on my P500 flashed with void rom.
Now my problem is that every time I receive a new message and read it with handcent, the lock screen still shows that I have an unread message. I've pretty much disabled everything I can in the default messenger settings but its still no good.
So anyway around this problem? Will I have to uninstall messenger? If so, will that have any adverse effect on my phone?
I had same prob.
I removed handcent then reinstailed and rebooted, that fixed the problem for me.

UPDATE!.
not working ... still i have notification in my homescreen when it's lock.
I have an issue similar to this. When I get a new SMS message, my lockscreen will say "651 unread messages" and then that text will scroll down and disappear and be replaced with "1 unread message". It's not a huge issue, but it is annoying. Anyone find a way to get rid of this double text? I have notifications turned off in the android messaging and all the regular stuff you'd expect done, yet this persists...
i have the same problem, the workaround is to remove the default messaging app.
However this broke MMS for me, I was unable to receive them anymore!!
Any other solutions?
Remove lock screen message notification
Regarding this bug what i observed is..,
1. To remove Notification like "1 unread message" on lock screen, you have to open default message app and close (this is annoying though).
2.Till now i didn't find any solution even after Uninstall > install > rebooting....
3. One thing we can try is deleting default message app, this is not possible unless your phone is not rooted.
and I tried this with both Handcent and GO-SMS pro, and currently using Go-SMS pro..
Anybody comes up with the solution (other than point 1) let me know..

There is no good solution. The default messaging application is hardwired to the lock screen.
- uninstall the stock app
- replace or hack the lock screen
Bug LG if you want it fixed.
Thanks for the info.., I'm still a noob...have to spend some time to learn Rooting n all other stuff.... later will try to delete stock app..
I've got the same issue but I found a way out i.e. use the pattern lock. The unread message count won't be seen on the lock screen
HI. I am using handcent sms, and trying to disable stock message notification.
No matter what I do, I am getting double notification. Yes,I did uncheck notification and auto-retrive on stock message app.
I even flash another rom, and I am getting double notification.
What should I do? I am on bionix 1.3.1 now.
Thanks.
Try freezing stock sms in TB.
imspot// I did that too, still doesn't work.....
This is very odd.
- Can you disable the Handcent notification? I realize you rather use it than the stock app but this would tell us if the problem is with the stock app or with notifications in general.
- Also you could try pushing the stock app from the ROM by itself, replace and re-install see if that werks.
- Make sure your not restoring settings with titanium as well. This would almost definitely cause problems.
attached is what my settings in stock app looks like. Note that i actually have the Auto-retrieve checked and the Notifications un-checked and it looks as its supposed to with handcent in the notification bar but not the stock app. Good luck!
Use root explorer, go to system/app and delete mms.apk or move it to different folder in case you want it back.

I have been looking for an app that will remind me when I miss a call or sms. Missed Message Flasher appears to do the trick. However, I cant get it to work with SMS. I think the reason is because on our phones, the screen turns on when an new SMS arrives. Turning on the screen disables Missed Message Flasher. Has anyone got this app to work on the SGS2?
I have used noled from themarket on my captivate and sg2 and it worked very well. I a. Going to check out the message flasher now

I miss BLN from my captivate. But, its not fully functional. It works, but causes battery drain after its activated. The phone can't get into deep sleep mode again, until the alert is cleared. I hope every day I go into the dev section to see some good news about BLN.

I use Missed Message Flasher, but I disable the actual flashing of the screen and use it just to give me an audible notification of missed messages every 120 seconds. That way it doesn't mess with my screen being off or cause any unnecessary battery drain.

I cant get it to work with SMS. Can you please let me know what you do? I think because the screen turns on when an SMS comes in, Missed Message Flasher disables itself.
Do you have the box ticked in your Accessibility settings (to allow it to grab messages)?
If so then there really isn't much else to it as long as SMS is checked in the app's settings, and the phone isn't in silent mode...

I think my problem is that I dont use a lockscreen/keyguard so when the screen turns on as an SMS is received, MMF disables itself. I guess I have to re-enable my lockscreen.
Help w/ setup please
I'm just trying ' Missed Message Flasher' after flunking a couple of others, which i've uninstalled.
My problem is with 'Sound' and with GoSMS Pro, my messaging package.
I have 'accessibility' ticked, but the flash package is not activating when a new message comes in. anyone have a clue?
also, I set 'sound' to use the same sound the GoSMS package uses [which is one of the options under MMF]. But when I set that tick, and exit the pane, the "Sound" setting still shows "None". in fact, any option I pick results in the same.
is there a forum dedicated to MMF??
thanks folks

Hello everyone.
I have an issue which could not be fixed by clean flashing my rom and several re-installs of Viber. I checked the app's settings and 'Show notifications' is ticked.
When I receive a message on viber it shows up in my status bar. After one second the notification preview disappears and the notification disappears. It is like I never received one. There is no icon in my status bar and the notification center is empty.
This problem persists even there after I completely whiped my phone, flashed the rom and had nothing but Viber installed.
This is really annoying since I often miss messages due to this bug.
Does anyone have any other things I should try to solve this? I'm using Mahdi Rom if that's of any importance.
Edit: Flashed a different ROM, problem persists
So, a little while ago I had to reinstall the stock texting application and odex file on my s4. In doing so, I can send texts again like new but for some reason it's not displaying the notification for a message on the lockscreen.. (rectangle that says "New Message" that you click that takes you to the thread) I'm not sure why it's doing it. I have the notifications enabled and hangouts disabled. (turned off) The screen still lights up with a new text and vibrates and even has the status bar notification, just not lockscreen. If anyone can help me, that'd be awesome. Also, can we keep the bias 3rd party messaging opinions out? Thanks so much in advance!
What ROM are you running? Are you using a custom clock widget (like Dashclock, cLock, etc.) or do you have the stock Samsung clock?

Thats strange. try clearing data on messaging and then re-check preview message in messaging settings.
Yeah, I tried that.
So here's what I did to fix my issue,
1: I was running the build.prop hack for the s5 status bar. I returned to stock build.prop and did a battery grab reboot.
2: Not that it's relevant, but I cleared all data for Google play services.
3: *Important* I cleared my cache then all data for the Messaging app in settings. Reboot and reopen the app and it worked good as new. I hope this can help someone with the same issue.
