[Q] skipping audio problem - Motorola Droid RAZR

I have a Razr , running stock ICS. It works fine if I watch a movie on the phone itself. The problem occurs when I connect it to my tv through hdmi. The sound starts skipping like every 20 seconds. Im using mx player and have tried both h/w and s/w decoder. This is a dvd rip, dont remember if it does it while on netflix. I have tried mobo player also, for some reason on mobo I cant hear anything and it wont let me change from h/w to s/w decoder. Please help.

I know I have had some issues with movie playback like that before and I believe it is just the codec or movie format doesn't play nicely with MX Player. I have had a couple of movies that refuse to sync up sound and video no matter how it is decoded. Maybe once they finally VLC for android we wont have to worry about this issue.

Hey thanks for the info. I was hoping there was a fix to this since I use this to watch movies very often.

video playback stopping constantly.

last night i decided to watch a movie ( star wars episode 1) and every few minutes it would stop and go back to the movie selection screen. I wasn't a set time it would stop like every 5 minutes or 2 minutes. Sometimes it would last 30 sec some times 15 minutes.
So i thought maybe it was the player so i downloaded rockplayer,qq,bs,mobo,mx etc. I tried them all and no luck it still did it every time.
So i thought since star wars as a mkv file it was problem, but no i played adventure time witch was a .avi movie and still the something. Then i thought well maybe it's the display timer so i turned it off, nope still doing it.
My prime is docked and its one of the primes with unknown serial and i have manually updated to ics. If any of that info helps.
I'm converted the movie unknown to mp4 and I'm going to try that to night and see if it still does it.
Any help would appreciated. thanks
same Problem. beginn after root maybe?
What app are you using for playback? I had similar issue with MX Player but did not experience this issue with BS Player.

I use dice player for mkvs and it is smooth like butter, best player i have found by far. If i play 1080p videos i have to copy them to the tablet but i can wirelessly stream 720p np from my desktop to myprime via es file explorer. I do hdmi out for most movies.
Hope this helps
BS player works great, thanks to whoever suggested it--I wasn't able to seek to certain parts of most of my movies without them crashing, but this player has no trouble finding any spot I want

[Q] crashing on video playback

Hi y'all
I dont know if my transformer is hard ware damaged or if i have a software problem.
Problem description:
I just exchanged my transformer prime for a replacement unit since the HDMI was broken on my old unit.
I reinstalled MX player and started playing a video (H264) and it keeps crashing. The player will kill itself and once, it even went into a weird stripe crash and had to be hard rebooted. I uninstalled the codec pack for MX player, did it on software encoding, no hard crash, but MX player keeps dying.
I tried vplayer, which doesnt seem to crash but the audio/video sync is off. Now I cant remember having this problem on my old unit.
I then proceeded to download the glowball demo to 'tickle' the tegra cores, in case its a cpu/gpu issue, and that worked fine without crashing.
unrooted, locked bootloader with all software updates from Asus.
i am out of ideas, any pointers what could be wrong / how i can locate the issue?
cheers
blues
I have similar problem with u on the video playback, however I manage to play MP4 and MKV files without crash.
MV Player stops when I play any rmvb files which is quite annoying as most of my video are rmvb.
I wonder if it crashes the codec when we try installing different Video players.
saw a new video player on the forum and gonna try it tonight ~ hope this will work~

lets keep talking about this issue and I believe some other users have the similar issue too...
wow VLC build for ARM, impressive
What REALLY is annoying that i get a "not supported" from the stock player. How come the standard Android 4 player does not know the h264 codec ?
Did it work?
Try moboplayer out too and see if that is any different.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I will next, cheers
I just tried the VLC port. it does the same thing of crashing (but its alpha, so hey )
edit:
just tried a xvid file with moboplayer, same crash
all the apps just stop playing the video and return to video select screen
i have seen a couple of Tegra 2 optimized players, nothing for tegra 3 yet?
edit 2:
mx player has an experimental build where you can increase the cores to 4 for sw decoding, havent tried that yet
cheers

I have the same on Tegra 3 - tried MX player, MX player with ARM 7 codec, Mobo player - they just kill themselves during the playback....
Will try more players, not sure if that will help at all...
Dice player seems to have the best interface other then mx.
But no crashes and everything runs with hardware decoding that I've tried.
I too am am having lots of mx player crashes after the jellybean update on my stock uprooted transformer prime. The stock player also crashes.... This never happened on ice cream sandwich. Anyone fi d a solution to make video playback more stable?
Try S/W decoder.
I had a similar problem just a few minutes ago. I deactivated H/W+ decoder and it worked perfectly.
Sometimes, hardware can't play everything. You should try and play these videos with S/W decoder.
I might be wrong. I just said what helped me.

[Q] playing movies on prime

Is there a way to play movies that I have on my computer already on my prime? Is there an app that will play movies in any format with out converting them or do I have to convert the files?
Already answered your other thread. Try BSplayer
mechanism cancn
MX Player is also great.
to get to the files on your network share I like using es file explorer.. choose the file and then pick your video player. nice n easy.
mx player is good, but a lot of times uses software rendering. and more and more my videos would just stop and go back to the list screen.
I've switched to dice player and haven't had one that isn't using hardware rendering. and no closing out for no reason.
the main reason hardware rendering is going to be better is if you have it plugged into HDMI. software rendering still displays the video on-screen, draining more battery. whereas on hardware the screen is black and its only putting it out via HDMI.
UPNPlayer is a nice app to STREAM from your computer...

I can't echo my experience with MX Player. I have plenty of H.264 encoded mkv videos (High-Level Profile 4.0/4.1). MX Player for some strange reason hiccups with the sound and video when I start a video and then as I'm playing, will also skip randomly. I use Dice Player. Once BSPlayer modifies their app to "minimize" the action bar with dots like Dice and MX player can do, I'll switch to that, since Dice seems to cause random reboots at times.

[Q] HD movies on PRime

Hi
i have use mx player for a while on my tablet.
but since they removed the DTS audio codec i have switched to vplayer
but my issue on my prime is that when i play for instance an episode of game of thrones or breaking bad on 720p .mkv version it starts ok...
but after a minute... the audio decoder doens't work anymore and it seems like you can hear only the background noise...
i used to have the same problem with mx player, but there i had found an easy option make the audio normal again. I use to switch form hardware <--> software decoding. And then it would be ok.
the odd thing is that this doens't happen with HD movies...
But for the vplayer i haven't found a sollution. Is there anyone who had te same issue?
thanks
I had issues with MX player when trying to play 1080p .mkv files and the best solution i found was to download and use BSPlayer and go into settings and set it to use Hardware decoding (BSEngine).
Never had any issues and 1080p .mkv files play perfectly - even on power save mode

Third! It's what I use!
Tried different formats?
I've only had my TP for a short time and have only tried a couple of movies on it. Not knowing which format was best I chose to rip to MP4 format and it hasn't given me any trouble so far. Is there some advantage to .mkv?
mkv is more of a losless wrapper, better quality, no compression, much larger file than mp4
The thing with Diceplayer or most players doesn't render embedded subtitles. MX Player renders it fine though. So even thought I get artifacts on MX Player when playing 10bit MKV or 1080p MKV animes, I stick with it. Yes I messed with the settings on those other players.
Well I'm getting issues with Dice not wanting to open files with DTS audio. If I open the video through file manager and choose Dice, it'll play the video no problem but no audio. If I try to open inside Dice, it crashes. Vplayer works with audio, but drops frames even if I choose 'hardware acceleration' I'll try mx and see if that works.
EDIT:
Nope, MX won't play the audio either. It at least shows me that their is an audio track, and that the audio is DTS track, but it won't play it. Any suggestions besides transcoding the audio?
i believe it was when MX player got updated to 1.6 that they removed the DTS codec. If you never had problems before they removed the codec and prefer mx player just google MX player apk X.XX and find the version with the codec in it. I would tell you the website to go to, but it's a no no on XDA.

Hey thanks!! Downloaded 1.5a and bam! DTS playback is perfect! Thanks again!
FYI
Dice version 2.0.5 also has DTS intact. You can find it somewhere on google, and plays HD files better in my opinion.
The latest version of MX Player that still supports DTS audio is 1.6f, and for Dice Player it's 2.0.6.
I've heard these versions are incompatible with Jelly Bean, so it looks like we'll have to find a new solution once the update comes out. (likely switching to BS Player)
I've always been an advocate of Dice, and with the majority of my stuff in Xvid or more recently, mp4, all stashed on a server that was smb shared, it worked a treat.
However, I've never been able to get HD mkvs above 720p to play well, and even those had the occasional laggy or jerky moment. I always put that down to network speed, though.
However, I've just tried the latest BS Player and all I can say is wow. It has just played all of my 1080p stuff over the LAN without breaking a sweat.
I am jumping ship. Very recommended.

Video files.

Hi guys,
I have some news to share, if you would call it news XD
Recently, .mkv video files started playing on my player through the stock video player.. And before, it said "Video cannot be played." Weird right? Has anyone experienced the same, video files that are not supported by the player start working all the sudden?
Try with VLC for Android. In PC is the perfect video player...

No, I'm saying .mkv files started to play on the stock video player, which isnt supported..
The "mvk" is just the container of the "real video" (audio + video) and doesn't tell anything about the codec used in audio and video streams.
You can get both audio and video, you can even get only video or only audio and sometimes you get nothing, this is because the stock player can't decode the streams due to codec missing.
Just try a different player. On my PC I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and on android I found MX Player truly complete, so i'd suggest this.
