It's so cheap on att and only $50 on wireless amazon currently. It comes with all the top specs you can find today, excluding the upcoming 1080p devices. However, I'm getting mixed reviews from websites such as amazon and phonearena.
Any xda feedback i can get?

Highly underrated phone...... it beats almost all phones on any benchmark. The screen is amazing good feel in ur hand dont feel cheap like all the sammy crap. Only downfall is the camera but one of the devs fixed that with a camera mod here in the forum.

Pros: screen, best processor, micro SD slot, everything else I don't list as a con
Con: ..... I don't really consider these things bad at all but they are not the best. Battery is good for me. Camera takes good pictures for a smartphone. Its overheated like three times not really a big deal and I've had it since the beginning of December when I bought it for 200$
The combination of the amazing processor, plentiful ram, display( quality and size) , and the inclusion of a micro sd are its main points.
Yes this phone is highly underated and cheaper and still the phone i would go out and purchase today

Well in my opinion it's the most underrated phone on the market. Fast, well designed very mild LG skin(I use Nova so that takes care of that for me) and a nice sleek design even though I have it cased up due to work.
This is the third LG phone I've owned and the best device by them by far. Although I liked the other two I owned. Coming from the HTC One X and I don't miss that phone at all, nice device but dev unfriendly and HTC just isn't my thimg with their horrible Sense junk.
Buy it for the price you won't regret it imo. The dev community is a nice solid group as well.
Highly underrated.

Hah we're very alike there! I'm also coming from the HTC One X(L). I liked it for sure, and h8rift/rohan32/etc are fantastic devs. The only thing I miss at the moment is Cyanogenmod 10.1. :highfive:
Yeah. About that overheating issue. How bad is it? This phone seems to fill in the qualifications for a great phone, but yet its gone months unnoticed.

ive never had mine over heat, had it for just over a month now. i love this phone, it has a nice solid weight, its one of the fastest phones out right now. the only bad things are the lack of JB, and its kind of slippery to hold without a case

Well I personally haven't had the overheating issue and like I said I rock a case because of work. Then again even though I have overclocked ever other phone I've owned, I just don't see a need to with this phone. I've also noticed very few people with the issue. If it was an epidemic I'm sure I would have noticed more since I seem to practically live on XDA, lol. Between here and the Note 10.1, One X and Atrix HD forums.
What's annoying about the phone is that sometimes you cannot put the brightness all the way up. Also camera is not so hot. Great phone overall and happy i have it (first android phone). With decent use my phone lasts about 10-12 hours.
If you have a decent phone right now I would just be patient and see if you like any of the 5 inch 1080p phones coming out (and possibly Galaxy S4). The screen "should" be superior, we won't know until we see it in hand comparing but another thing would be that the new phones will have a bigger battery (optimus pro g if in the USA will have a 3300 battery). If you are fine rooting etc than this phone will be fine but if not maybe the newer phones would be best as it would come with Jelly Bean and more than likely come out with 1-2 more updates (just pure speculation on my part)...whereas this phone will prob get Jelly Bean and that is it- however JB or not this phone runs very smooth and quick on ICS.
If you decide on this phone you will definitely be happy with it, especially at 50 bucks! Hell the Optimus G for Sprint is buy one get one free!
I think one of the reasons this phone is so far under the radar is due to the Nexus 4 stealing it's thunder. The OG and N4 have all the same "guts" but the N4 gets all the press due to having "pure android" and being first in line for all OS updates. That is all well and good, but I couldn't stomach being restricted to 16GB (11 usable) of storage. Not when I can buy a 64GB microSD card for only $40 and store all my media that I like to have on hand. Don't trust the cloud...
The OG also has LTE. That's not important to me since I'm on a Straight Talk plan, but it is a nice bonus feature for most people.
So as long as you're comfortable waiting for the devs here to keep you on the latest and greatest software, this phone IMHO is better than the Nexus 4, which most reviewers are in love with.
Thanks for the great feedback everyone. I was indeed comparing this to the Nexus 4, but this has LTE and N4 does not. However, i was also debating whether or not i wanted to wait for the 5 inch 1080ps instead because well, I like a big screen.

My personal opinion is that the phones are getting too big. I played around with the Note and Note 2 to get a feel for the size, and I just didn't care for it. I need a phone. Not a phablet and that's what I see it turning into at that size.
I agree. Phones are getting way too large, the Note and Note 2 are way too large for my taste and hands for that matter. I have a Note 10.1 tablet and love it so why do I need a bigger phone? Just my opinion as I know phablet users who love it.

Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Only real complaints I have are the speaker volume (fixed with the Sony enhancement) and the camera isn't that great (which doesn't bother me too much).
Also, the lack of updates. It doesn't effect me since I'm a flashoholic and will flash ROMs anyway, but still... It's more the principle of the matter. LG sucks so much with the updating and this phone should have had JB upon release.
What ever, I want AOKP and CM anyway!

Yeah I do like larger phones. My brother has a Note 2, and upon playing with it I already know its the perfect size. However, I have yet to get the Note 2 because of its price and me being a fairly smaller guy, I'm afraid the Note 2 will be indeed too large for my skinny pockets. So I may take your (xda) word on this phone and purchase the Optimus G within the next week or so.

Its definitely underrated. There isnt any major marketing of this phone, and to be honest people dont really trust LG because of the lack of support and updates. But they did a terrific job with the optimus g, every review that i read/watch praises this phone, how crazy fast it is. Now lg needs to support it and build some momentum to carry it over the optimus g pro.

It will be over priced, have the crappiest display ever and probably the same 800mah battery they have been using in all their phones since the touch pro.
6 months later they will release 3 more versions, 1 won't have a front facing camera, one will lack LTE and the other will have a smaller screen but the supply will be so low only a handful will buy it.
3 months later those 3 phones will get updated with faster processors and less ram and they will all have the same screen size and then they will stick 4 cameras on their note refresh and announce a line of accessories in partnership with jay-z's rocawear clothing line shortly before being bought out by LG.

when i think htc, i think HEAVY THICK CRAPS!
They just better bring their A-game. I'd imagine them using the S4 PRO, HD screen of some sorts and the usual other jazz. It really comes down to battery life and their software. Software is what's been killing the OneX in all comparison tests.
I'd imagine a name like the HTC One-Scribe or simply Scribe...since it will come with the scribe pen.
Regardless, competition will only make the Note 2 that much better. I personally wont switch to the HTC variant no matter what the specs.

Samsung is ahead in the android game. But HTC is a close second and they're trying to get back into the top spot. So why not compete in the phablet category? (tablet phones = small and new market). The more (options) the better I guess. If Apple jumped on the tablet phone category, they would have a huge market.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
Since I've gotten my Note, I'll probably always be looking for a 5"+ screen for every future phone ... so I love any future where multiple manufacturers compete in the 5"+ phone form factor.

+1. If Samsung decides to discontinue the Note after the first one, my options will be probably limited. We need more 5 inch screen devices.
I've had software/hardware issues with my last two Samsung phones which is why I haven't purchased a note. Whether it's HTC or another manufacturer building a note like phone it gives me another choice which is good. Competition drives development = WIN.

There a lot of threads just like this that should help you reach your decision.
The Note 2's screen is too big for my tastes.
S4 Pro > Exynos 4412.
The Note 2 has way better battery life and the battery is also removable.
These are just off the top of my head.
I'm stickin' with my OG and I would have had I been in your position.
JB has nothing to add speed wise. Maybe some gestures but you won't feel significant difference speed wise.
Hardware is as close as it can be with Nexus 4 so soon will have a Nexus 4 with microSD support.
Patience my young padawan
Battery life is also noticeably better on ICS. I actually prefer it over JB. Especially since you can easily get all of the JB features on ICS when rooted.

I considered, and did a lot of research on, all the top phones for AT&T and chose the OG. Nothing I've seen so far has made me regret my decision even a little bit. It's just a risk you'll have to either stray from or deal with. We have devs accomplishing great things but who knows what they'll be given access to. Could take time.
I'd you aren't planning on rooting your phone and installing custom ROMs and care about having updates in a moderately-timed manner, switch.
Otherwise, stick with the LG Original Gangsta. This is the smoothest phone I've ever owned and battery life is great. Screen is absolutely beautiful. I don't need to to the specs because I assume you've read them.

I have both the LGOG and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and I like both of them very much. I used the LGOG for about a month and have used the SGN2 for 1 week, so here are some of my observations:
The LGOG seems slightly faster, but it has a non-removable battery. The battery life is good with the LGOG, I can typically get 15-16 hours between charges and still have about 35% battery left. Not sure how LG is going to support the OG, wished that it had been released with JB on it.
The SGN2 has a removable battery, which is a BIG plus to me. The battery life on the SGN2 is better than the LGOG, after about 15-16 hours the battery is usually at about 50%. I actually like the bigger screen and the S-pen is a nice feature, but I don't know how much I will be using the S-pen. The 8mp camera on the SGN2 is markedly better than the one the LGOG, hands down. We have had several Samsung phones and I think Samsung will support the Note 2 and the S3 a lot better than LG will support the OG, meaning that Samsung will release updates quicker than LG.
Another area of concern is accessories, while you can find Cases for the AT&T LGOG, the selection can be a little slim and you have to be careful because the Sprint Cases will not fit on the AT&T version. Cases and accessories for the SGN2 are abundant.
Again, this is just my 2 cents. In the end you have to figure out what is important to you and figure out which phone best meets your needs. Once you make your decision, stick with it and be happy about it (don't look back.)
Good points, imarek3. The Note 2 is a great phone by all accounts. It definitely appeals to a certain market. That's why I love Android. It's so versatile in what manufacturers can do with it. Very democratic, as opposed to Apple's dictatorship. "You want choices? Alright, your phone can come in black or white."

Trying to get some opinions here. I have a ATT unlocked Note i717 and a guy wants to trade his brand new Nexus 4. I know to some this may be a no brainier but from what I've seen it's not all that. And it's made by LG. I was thinking it'd be a advantage to get and trade for something else but it's not that popular in my area it seems. And granted you can get it for $300 for the 8GB and $350 for the 16gb (which he has).
I love my note and don't have any issues with it really. What do you guys think?
I would do it, especially if it is a straight-up trade.
Yes, it is LG, but Nexus 4 and Optimus G (and pro) are very well-made phones.
Nexus 4 will get updates right away, and has better specs. In the long-run, it is a better phone to keep. As much as I love my Note, I would trade it for a Nexus 4 in a heartbeat.

yet the nexus 4 was just labelled as #1 most likely to break... atleast 2-3 times a week i see people posting their broken glass nexus phones, happens way to often.
any phone made of glass front and back is not worth it unless your getting some hefty ass case for it. no clue why lg didnt learn from apples mistake with ip4/4s glass backs always broke, same happens here on nexus 4's/lg g's
and yes it will get STOCK ota update faster, but most people run aftermarket roms which get updated just as fast, so i have no clue why people try and use "gets updates first" as a selling point to people, esp on xda
but to op, id go into a carrier that has a lg optimus g and see how you like it before trading just to be sure your ok with smaller screen, i got an s3 recently and gave it to my sister 2 days later, the screen size was to much of a deal breaker.
I bought a nexus 4 a few months ago and was able to get $360 for my note on eBay.
Took a few days to adjust to a smaller screen size but I got used to it.
No LTE kinda sucks but I've been getting over 10MB down on HSPA+ so I can't complain there
Battery life has been somewhat disappointing but the N4 charges very fast and I never find myself going that long without access to a charger
Other than those gripes the phone is really, really good. I wouldn't hesitate taking the N4 over the Note and I loved my Note.

Getting an s3 was the best decision I ever made. So much smoother and better imo.
That being said I would take a note 2 in a heart beat.
Flop? The note is probably not going to see official jb and ics is laggy.
The sales of the nexus 4 are insane, the gpu/cpu destroys the notes.
I would make the trade just for the specs the of note is great especially with a custom ROM but eventually it will be outdated you will get more life with the nexus 4.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Well I took the trade and haven't looked back. This is a way ahead of the Note in terms of specs. The screen size was not a issue at all. Don't take this as dogging the note cause I'd pick one up any day, but as far as the market is concerned this would be in the top picks.
For all the comments about the build and it breaking, well to each their own. I've had zero issues with mine. Some people don't really use caution when handling already cheaply made devices. And it goes for any phone that it's possible to come with defects from the factory.
As far as LTE, the Nexus 4 is capable of. With the .33 radio and a custom rom it's no stranger. T-Mobile has only launched LTE in a few cities but it'll soon get around.

I just sold my note today. Waiting for my nexus 4 to ship. Hopefully it doesn't take long. The reason I choose the n4 over the note is that development over at the n4 forum is pretty busy.

I want to see how many are interested in this phone coming from a non-LG background. I come from a Samsung and HTC background.
Please vote everyone. Thanks.
Thinking about it, to replace my Galaxy Nexus. But since Ive never touched an LG smartphone Im not sure what (if?) the status of "third party" development would be like. Ive also never seen their overlays over Android so Im not sure what Ill be in for.
But, Snapdragon 800 makes up for some of that

In a way this poll should also reflect the status/extent of third party development. Thanks for your participation.
I'm picking up the LG. I've had all HTC 's and Samsung's. I'd have the Optimus G PRO for a couple months and loved it. It was a tremendous phone. IMO. I just hope the development community come through. I think with it being on all carriers it will.

Always been with samsung but their design has become stagnet for me. Ready for something new to play with. Just hope the G2 lives up to hype its been receiving. I will have mine on Tuesday.

Will be my first LG since the Dare - if that counts. I usually sport a Samsung or Apple but am currently running a Lumia 928. WP8 has a long ways to go! Looking forward to the G2!
I've had every HTC Android that Sprint carried, but switched to the Nexus 4 in February, so the G2 won't be my first LG device, but it will be my first LG device with LG software on it. I'm looking forward to this phone.
Just pre-ordered it, I have had my HTC Amaze 4G for a bit now and the LG G2 will be a huge leap, in terms of specs! lol This will be my first LG experience! Hope for the best!
I've used the Charge, GNex, Rezound, Maxx, DNA, S3, Note 2, Maxx HD, and the S4. This will be my first LG. I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked down. The navigation keys are movable and most of the other things I'll want to change can be done just by being rooted,
first LG here since the LG env touch lol. my smartphones were all htc and samsung... eris, incredible, rezound, gnex, s3, dna, s4...so this is my first LG too.

Will be my first LG phone too. Had HTC, Motorola, a lot of Samsung devices but never LG. The only thing that worries me is the availability of custom ROMs and mods, but I guess that it's still to early to judge.

I dont think any LG phone has gotten so much "must have" responses, so I would be suprised if we dont get lots of roms. Especially if Nexus 5 will be based on it.

I concur.
Look who won the best android phone. LG G2. Unbelievable. Deserves the win though.

Now i am more confident about 3rd party ROM development. One more week to go.

Really lucky you bro.. I didn't realize they were shipping them right away. Good news.
Could you please share your experience about
Knock knock
Music player sound quality
Camera
Screen quality
If possible open a new thread for AT&T phones(just a suggestion). Just so all AT&T experiences fall in one place. Developers can figure out the missing features too.
I am going to switch from my note 2. I really love my note 2 but the size after a year is starting to get to me a bit. 5 inch screens look funny to me because of them being narrow and tall and I love the bigger screen in the small form factor. Great specs and great size. I will miss my note, but the lag, crappy gps, terrible amoled screen, and the slightly too big size are starting to turn me off.

So after using it a bit, do you feel like you want to pick the S4 back up or are you totally satisfied with the G2.
Personally I cant remember the last time I was so excited about a phone. I remember when I went to the S4 from the note 2 and I really just couldn't get excited about it at all. It didnt feel like an upgrade.
Heres hoping the G2 can win me over...

Nope dont feel the urge to pick up my S4, One, or Nexus.
Looks many people have/bought this now. So please vote. Thanks.
If you're like me, you're ready for a new phone every year around this time. I was hoping to see a DNA2/Butterfly2 from HTC, but that doesn't look like its going to happen. Alternatives are few unless you want to go Max-sized with the HTC One Max, but at 6", that's just too darn big. I thought the Note series was too big, but the Max has even topped that.
Anyway, for those of you looking to move past the DNA (don't get me wrong - it is still a GREAT phone, especially running Viper 2.0!), what are you thinking?
Maxing out with the One Max? :cyclops:
Settling for Samsung?
Trying to Live Good with LG G2?
Or just holding out until something better comes along?
I voted for the One max in the poll above, but honestly I might be turned away by the huge size. I already have trouble typing one-handed on my DNA sometimes, but the expandable memory and huge battery would be a nice upgrade for sure.
If the size puts me off, I'll probably just wait for whatever follows up the HTC One. I'm grandfathered into unlimited data anyway, so I'll likely be buying whatever my next phone will be either at full retail or from eBay/Craigslist/Swappa.
I was really looking forward to the One Max. I wouldn't mind the bigger size because of the idea of using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard on remote desktop. However, now that the specs are officially released by HTC, there's no way I'm settling for the Snapdragon 600. Considering other recently released devices are using the Snapdragon 800, like the Note3, HTC is making a huge mistake with the slower processor. I'd like to stay with HTC, but I'm not settling for a 600. I'm starting to lean towards a Note3 but I'll probably wait for the price to come down a bit.

Do you want to stick to HTC, because the G2 is a nice phone

That's the phone I'm waiting for. Giving up Verizon and my unlimited for it. But it will be worth it. I miss the Dev support that came with my gnex. Also not having Verizon mess with my updates will be nice for once

Nothing that's a big enough improvement yet. The One is barely better than the DNA, and the Max is just a blown up version of the One.
Nexus 5 likely won't be on Verizon, so I'll be waiting for next year's flagships.

The specs are not that impressive on the N5, IMHO.
I plan on staying with the dna for quite a while. Nothing out right now really catches my eye and is convincing to drop my dna. I hate Samsung so I'm just going to end up waiting for the next best HTC phone.

I just traded my Note 2 to the DNA. LOVE IT so far.

I pulled the trigger on the DNA when Best Buy was giving them away. So far I am loving HTC coming from Moto only for years. I hope when it comes time for another upgrade there will be another awesome HTC phone for a great price.
I will most likely end up with the HTC ONE or a Nexus 5. Probably the One though. I like sense 5 way too much and the One is too solid of a phone to pass up.

Post DNA plans?
The DNA was my first phone on Verizon when it launched. I'm not due for an upgrade until late 2014. If I had to choose a device from the current crop, i'd pick the Moto X or the G2. But I'll wait until 2014 to make a real decision, but I would like to stick with HTC if possible. And by possible I mean if HTC has a device on Verizon with a similar screen size but higher ppi, much larger battery, more storage and the latest version of Android.
But that's what everybody wants right?
I would get the HTC One Max as soon as I could :upgrade or no..... I'd buy it the day it was available.
The new size is perfect for what I want in a phone.
But because I am into esthetics and the feel of a phone: that "rubberized" back cover, and I don't think I will ever see that style again, I'll keep the DNA.
I never cover my phone with a case!
iPhone 6
I'm sticking with the DNA for now.
One Max = too big for my personal taste
N5 = wont be on Verizon, and due to company rules, I dont have (or really want) another choice of carrier
G2 = nice... but not a big enough upgrade/difference for me to pull the trigger
Its interesting because with CM 10.2, I really feel like my phone is running so well that for the first time in a long time, I'm not itching to upgrade. Very weird feeling. But I think its due to the fact that there isnt a single app/game that I use which has problems or lag on the DNA.
Truly a supreme phone.
Yeah I love my DNA slick thin light but feels solid as do all HTC phones in my opinion. There really isn't a phone out or coming out that would make me feel jealous. This phone benchmarks with the best of them and we have a slew of roms out. Plenty of development by top devs who know a thing or two about fixing these issues we have.

I'm going to definitely stick with HTC if at all possible. If they updated the One with wireless charging, possibly a 5" screen (current size is good too) and the latest tech, I'd bite as soon as it came out.
