goodbye x8, hello x10 mini... - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

A few days ago i drove over my x8. Today i got hold of a very cheap x10 mini.
It's now running naa kernel and gingerdx v30 using smartassv2 and clocked to 787.
It works well, and i'm pleased with it.
Is there a good list of /system files that can be deleted safely?
Also, can i delete the youtube.apk from /system and then reinstall it to SD card from the market? Or is there a specific reason why youtube is pre-installed on gdx30?
Many thanks

usually if you have a lot's of apps it can take some time till SE cmoves them on sdcard ..
or if you don't have ext3 partition on sdcard can stop working sometimes
Would love to try this but it seems that download link don't work anymore.

[Q] Advice on new X10 Mini Pro configuration

Within the next few days I'm finally swapping my Xperia X1 for an Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
Been reading up on this forum for a few weeks now to decide which way to go.
Biggest dilemma was whether to go for stock or custom ROM and I think I'd best go for stock ROM for best stability.
This is what I'll think I'll do...
- Upgrade to latest firmware
- Root using SuperOneClick 1.9.5
- Install Link2SD to save internal storage
- Remove bloatware using Titanium Backup
- Use Zeam launcher 2.8.8
I think this is the best way for a stable, good performing phone or do you think going for an optimised Froyo rom is the better option?
Or are there better solutions for optimizing stock rom than the ones I mentioned above?
Froyo ftw or cm7 not stock batery is crap ui crap stock apps crap z4root crap superoneclick ftw cwm ftw
i would stay with stock for stability, root as you say for remove ops apps. custom roms are buggy and slow, also the SE UI displays the apps big enough for the small screen
Thanks for the replies... I think I will stay with latest stock ROM and use SuperOneClick instead of z4root.

imho minicm6 is a lot more performant than the stock rom. (it doesent hav crappy se services running in background). plus with minicm you can over/underclock your cpu and save battery + get a much smoother look and feel. and you can install lastest zeam from market (not possible with 2.1).
but if you have some shell+linux knowledge you can do alot just with adb, whitout use any apps like titaniumbackup..
With my previous (Windows Mobile) phones I immediately went for the lightest rom I could find, but then again, with WinMo you were allways assured you had the right hardware layer.
The Xperia X1 was great at everything except for the camera and making calls
I've searched but I can't find any stripped-to-the-bone standard 2.1 roms which should be easier than patching a new OS together from all kinds of sources like is being done right now.
But maybe I should just try a MiniCM Froyo and judge for myself
Tomorrow's my birthday and I can finally unwrap my Mini Pro
there are some wicked good stable froyo roms out there for mini pro really, definately worth trying over stock rom. (and can always make a backup and revert if you dont like it )
also if you're handy with 7-zip you can pretty much clear any app you won't need/use on the phone by removing it from the rom zip file's /system/app folder. just be carefull not to delete anything you won't know for certain what it does tho!
Happy birthday!!
I wouldnt stay on orginal rom , cyanocomb is much more stable

Try the (R)Evolution 1.3, it's stable as stock and got a userfriendly ui
After considering the options I fanally went with stock 2.1.1.C.0.0
Used flashtool for root, removing unwanted apps, install JIT and XRecovery.
164MB free now.
next step: buy fast SDHC and install Link2SD.

[REQ] gmail app 2.3.5 for custom ROMs

Can someone post the new gmail app 2.3.5 apk for use with custom ROMs like
CyaNoComb 1.4? Market means my phone is not compatible with this app but it should work on 2.2 and I'd like to try.
HI
It's strange !
Because I'm also on cyanocomb 1.4 and gmail is on 2.3.5 (updated this morning) ...
orly?
Hmm so I will try a bit...
But are you able to get me the gmail.apk? If you did not use titanium to 'ingtegrate the update to system' you will find the apk in /data/apps otherwise in /system/apps.
Thanks
sent with my x10 mini pro
she is in data\apps, I just have to share it with you ??
Let me a few minutes ..
orly ?? I don't unerstand !
greatt, thanks.
I dunno whats the problem. Do you have the new market 3.0.27? Or did you revert to older market? I wiped dalvik and cache, tried this titanium market doctor, deleted market app data... Mixed in different combinations... Nothing it just does not find gmail in market... Strange.
Maybe it does not like my german language setting or qwertz keyboard setting... But who cares? Oo.
Ill just try to replace/install that gmail app and see what happens then
Ah another question: from which rom did you come?
Thanks.
(Orly = 'O, really?' )

Yes I have the new market, also updated alone !
I come from froyocomb 1.5 ! And wiped nothing ! only battery stats.

[ROM][ICS][PORT] Stock 4.1.B.0.631 From Neo L to Xperia Play

Hello everyone,
There have been some time that new ICS firmware for Neo L is posted, and over time i manage to get a collection of patches that enable Xperia Play's touchpads.
Thread that i found it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189311 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176936
Since no one posted it as flashable zip, i guess i could do it.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8eMrl6yvYKyQXl2ZVdCWVJTcWM/edit?usp=sharing
I had to make compatible with Lupus ICS/GB V4 Kernel (system less then 280MB), so that means i had taken some apps from /system/app to /data/app (on the bright side, apps in data can all be deleted, for debloating purposes)
It should be compatible with other ICS stock kernels, but i didn't test it
Screenshots are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38841129&postcount=57
Credits for touchpad fix goes to Markpython for editing framework.res and framework.jar
I must say big THANKS to Wedges,Doomlord and CosmicDan's for their work on our's Play's kernel :good:
And ofcorse thank to other developers and chefs here on XDA forum for their work :victory:
Update1:
-Thanks @smokerman, for making a video of this ROM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjnw55pfX18
-This ROM is compatible with Lupus ICS/GB kernel V5, now it have 30MB of free space in system partition

What is the performance of this ICS Rom?
Whether in games & applications usuaro interface?
has some kind of mistake, or is completely stable?? the touchpad 100% functional for games, as in gingerbread ..?

Touchpads are compatible as any other ICS ROM, but i don't think it's perfect as in gingerbread.
Antutu score is around 4500 to 5500OC.
All phone functions works (GSM at leats). I mean, it don't have much features like other ROMS, but what it have, it works 100%
So far i didn't find any bugs (if there are any, it is most likely due my attempts to make a ROM out of Firmware files  )
As i see it, it is good ROM base-starter. To be modified, when deodexed... (this one is still odexed)
FInally as u promise a stock ics wthout fancy heavy apps.
Downloading now, let's see...
Edit: 2 things:
-why the quick google search bar doesn't do anything if i click on it?
-The system apps in /data/apps maked kinda messed up settings, but u could erase some usless stuff (like Wisipilot or Mc Afee) , like the guy before me wrote: "To be modified, when deodexed... (this one is still odexed)"

-google search is moved to data/app, maybe that's why it's not working
-Apps can be deleted from zip file before flashing (open with winrar/winzip and delete apk that you don't like/use , or later after flashing from launcher or PC (i use android commander for mass install/uninstall > http://androidcommander.com/

I know what you mean, but as i said, the point of this "ROM" is to be as close as flashing FTF. I don't consider this as "my" ROM, it is for everyone else to download/look/edit/compare and this thread can be used for discution about mods that can be done with this rom...
My idea was to have stock ICS from Neo L that work on Play (with touchpads)
And i had problems with system size (system+vendor partition on FTF is much larger, around 340MB, and it hardly be squeezed to 280MB, to be compatible With Lupus ICS/GB V4)
I did some changes based on this for my personal use, and i'll upload that version tommorow as "my" ROM tommorow (upload speed sux for me)
Ps: as i said before, stock ROMs are always bloated

So everything works here?
I basically just use my phone for N64oid, gameboid, Real Racing 3 and a lot of music and social networks (Instagram, Twitter, Face). So I don't care too much about touchpads unless I install a game like Fifa12 or Dead Trigger. But the problem I always have with all the ICS I've tested is that games like Real Racing 3 always closes (because of RAM).
Found a bug, the same on True Ancestor so i'm just gonna link it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40423492&postcount=118
Yeah, everything should work, only bug so far is double-tab opening when startint browser from bookmark shorctcut (as DanyXP said). Maybe it's firmware fault, i'll check afternoon on flashed FTF.
As for free RAM, you can use 480p version of kernel, it gives 30MB extra free RAM, at cost of lower resolution at video recording (i personaly can't see the difference, and for me, 720p version recording is look like upscale of 480p recording)
I don't have real racing 3, and most RAM intensive game that i played was SIMS freeplay

And why would you need a special rom for that?
Link2SD works perfect on our phone.
Didn't test Folder Mount, but i'm quite sure it will work, too.
And there are lots of tutorials how to disable/freeze/uninstall unwanted apps.
All you need is root.
All you need to do is read!
There are enough threads about it.

What's the difference between ext2 and ext4? I've read that ext4 isn't good for the SD card life. Is it true?
There's no "gaming rom" but you can look for someone to port slimkat rom, this rom is slim, fast, perfect for games (this is my opinion )
Moving the data files from the game with different xposed modules, swap ram, cleaning cache or other stuff can also help a lot if you're to play games.
