This morning, I plugged out the phone and it was really hot, like playing games for 4 hours or something..the screen was off.
Then I plugged it to the computer to transfer some files...the default ringtones/notifications were all reset.
The pictures i transferred weren't seen. Turned off the phone, took out the sd card and plugged it in the pc...the pictures were the.. put everything back together. the phone booted in 3 seconds and freezes in the lock screen with a black background...no buttons did nothing, after 5 mins it rebooted and everything worked normally, and it sent a random sms to 5 different people, the picture were there, but when i plugged it again the defaults got lost again... And the automatically use data storage doesn't work any more...
What? what?
Im really going insane, because this is my second evo 3d (the old one got replaced for free because of alot of problems)
I still have the warranty...
what should i do what's the problem with my phone?
Also my model's 3d isnt working correctly
What's HTCs problem? (Im really thinking of suing them)
Thinking of sueing them, eh?
Tell me how that goes!

If you are not rooted, do a factory reset. It really sounds like a software bug, and a reset will clear it up.

1. HTCDev, I don't there there are any other manufacturers with such a thing.
2. The awesome hardware inside.
3. It was cheap from Virgin. (No Contract, it costed $150)
4. Huge dev community.
Stock wasn't perfect, but if you would have spent some time installing new roms and overclocking you would have loved the phone.

The hardware is awesome yes...
It's cheap yes, stock is bad, but rooting it is really hard compared to a Samsung phone...
I still have warranty...
My first evos unlock button died after 2 months, and it fell down from a height of a chair and half of the aluminium frame broke off or how should I put it...That's why the phone is so cheap... because it has cheap design.
My second evos 3d isn't working properly...
I'm 95% sure that if I root it, some hardware will fail again and I will have to unroot it... And ill probably brick it one day...
I would root it if it wasn't so risky...
I already wanted to root it last year when I bought it... no look where that would get me.

They have quality and speed.
Htc has none. I really failed when buying this phone, and my friends told me not to buy the htc...
Previusly I had a ZTE Blade 1 600mhz proc, It worked better.
Um so you are saying that if I root it, and install a custom rom it will work like it should work?
And that If there will be some hardware failure that I can Un-root it?

My phone works just as fast as iphone 4, it fell off the table zillion times, my girlfriend kicks it every f...ing morning. Never had ANY problems with it. Sony is a great phone for a month or two, I had Xperia phone and I can say - never again

I didn't feel like arguing with him, but yeah, this phone may be on the cheaper side but its built pretty damn well. HTC knows how to make phones. I've dropped mine onto pavement and thrown it before, and it runs fine. Battery life is pretty good, I've used my phone on for 10 hours now and its at 40% (that's with moderate use).
If you want an iphone then get an iphone.
And if you want my opinion you should try again, and this time root it. Its not as hard as you make it out to me, it just takes a little dedication. You don't even need to S-Off, just get an ICS rom.

My Evo seemed to work a lot faster on GB than on ICS. It's a sense issue-sense 3.0 and 3.5 are much lighter and better responsive than sense 3.6, but ICS is better regarding CPU and GPU performance. You should try a custom laucher like GO, Nova, or Apex. I tried Next launcher which is a version of GO and it's beautiful, smooth and fast.

But I dont know guys... The evo compared to the sony has a really big lack of fps everywhere.

Sorry I dont quite understand this:
"And yes, it says "locked" not "relocked" "
What says locked?
Bootloader. When you lock it the easy way it says "relocked" and you loose your waranty. A little harder way of locking the bootloader is when it says "locked" and you have your waranty back. Just find a tutorial, everything is explained in it

ok i dont even know where to start... I dont usuallypost that many threads *****ing and complaining about my phone.. but enough is enough...
I haven't rooted...(well I did a while ago BUT)... I took part in that beta testing update crap so it unrooted me.. but these problems I have been having are since the LAST "update" which was well over two months ago now (I THINK)...
1st problem I am having is randomly I cannot input text into ANY thing on the phone... I am using smart keyboard pro.. but even when i change input methods it still does not register anything i am typing... in fact when i switch the phone to landscape mode the text box goes dark grey...
2nd also when this happens... nothing will happen when i attempt to make a phone call... i click the name .. nothing happens.. i go into dialer... i cant input the number i try other methods of dialing out nothing happens....
those are the two biggest problems I have as I need to communicate with my clients all day long i cannot have this type of inconsistency.
ohh and also the finger print scanner just plain doesn't work when i go through the process of setting it up.. it wont even register the "test" swipes... its like its broken all together.... any one else having ANY of these problems?? please help me

to be honest... and i know it sounds pretty stupid.. but... i really dont know how to flash the sbf... i know what it is followed the thread on it when it first came out... but never put the effort into figuring out how to actually do it... and right now i just don't have the time to sit down and do that.... (lazy.. it is what it is) but that could very well fix my problem i guess right... ugghh
ok
good luck sell me ur atrix I need a second one for testing purposes
If you feel adventurous enough, try disassembling the device and reseating the LCD/digitizer cable.
I had an issue with a Samsung galaxy s vibrant about a month ago that would register touch inputs when it was just sitting on the table. I did what I suggested above and the problem was solved.

If you took some time to read, your problem would already be solved.
1. Your digitalizer may not be working well. Guarantee will cover this.
2. SBF from scratch to discard a software issue.
None of the issues you are experiencing is related to the phone being a dual-core mobile or not.
I've been able to solve some problems by reading and taking the advice from the forums.
If your Atrix looks ****ty, it's not on it. Mine shines!

C'mon man, flashing an SBF is simple! The instructions on XDA are very detailed. I am a lifelong Mac user, and even I figured out how to flash an SBF via Windows. It would not take more than a couple hours to download all the stuff you need, and re-flash an SBF. What's your build number now?

Can I have your stuff??
So, My son's phone line qualifies for an premier upgrade(dont know why, but it does), and I want to use it for myself.
Can I just get the 3d under his phone number, activate it, then go home and call Sprint, and have them swap his phone number to my phone, and my phone number to the 3D?
I've done a phone number swap with family members in the past, but, I had read some stuff about Sprint charging you 200 dollars if you try this with the EVO 3D..
Anyone else do this successfully so far?
thank you
You can even do it yourself online after you buy the phone on his line. But a phone call night be faster. Online you'd have to re activate his old phone first then put the 3D on your line then activate your old phone on his. See you always have to have a phone active on the line so don't get rid of your third phone yet.

As a happy new EVO3D owner with a backup rooted EVO4G right beside it I can honestly say "no way"... not unless this thing gets unlocked...my CM7 EVO4G is faaaaast, battery sipping, customized to the hilt.....my EVO3D? It's the same as everybody elses Evo3D...with bloatware, same font, same kernel, same lock screen, no wifi tether, no nandroid--no NEED for nandroid.
Do not give up a EVO4G for it. If you can get one and keep the EVO4G 'just in case', I would do that...heck, I did.
...and if you don't have that option, well, once we manage to get the bootloader non-crypto-signed then work on getting s=off can start....that's when it'll be fine to get rid of the EVO4G for sure....which I hope happens soon, cuz they said I can go back to RS and get my $158 trade-in-value for the next 30 days...
so, the added processing power, and more storage memory doesn't blow away the eVO 4g?
I agree, that an unlocked phone is tons more fun than an locked one; I just wonder if the 3D is so powerful compared to the regular EVO, that it makes it alot more fun to play with..

Well I tend to disagree...I think the phone is very nice and fast..I'm getting better battery life and sense 3.0 never ran like this on my 4G..I think we will get root..but I can live without it for now..the screen and camera are both nice improvemente imo..some ppl seem disappointed but a lot of ppl are very hard to please..also every game I've played is twice as smooth
My first EVO that I bought on launch day was having some issues. Sense reloading, WiFi not disconnecting after I left my house, 3g sucked, battery life wasn't the greatest, and just seemed laggy. The guys at best buy tried argueing with me and said to reproduce the issues. I was able to show them the 3g connection and my WiFi issue. The guys tried telling me the WiFi was because the phone will automatically connect to all open access points. This is where we started to argue for a minute or two. I told them that was BS, we argued for a few seconds then I cut him off and asked, "Are u going to honor your return policy or what?" I hate it when Best Buy employees try to act that they know everything.
Anyways, the second EVO is running great. WiFi acts normal, way less lag, battery has gone for 2 full days without being charged and moderate use. And sense hasn't reloaded one time yet. Im really glad I traded it out for another instead of just returning. I'm going to give it one more week before I root. I'm missing my apps from my OG EVO.

HTC has a built in feature called SmartSync, which disables data after a period of non-use for deep sleep. If you check the dev threads, there's a fix for it, but it requires some smali editing. Some of the more recent roms have it built in. So the whole WiFi/3G disconnect thing is actually a feature believe it or not...lol

im having the light leak issue also.
also the sticker i had was black, like some generic sticker placed over the small clear one that was probably broken already.
i may have been sold one that someone returned. mf's
question: do i have to go to the same store i bought it at to exchange it?
I understand your pain dealing with people that are less knowledgeable than you (a Sprint rep tried to tell me that the SD card on my phone could be what was causing the reception issues if the card was 32gigs, no joke). However, try to understand that most of the time these people are just following instructions set forth by their employers. When things usually start to escalate like that, stay polite and ask for a manager. Believe me, it works better.
Anyway, I'm glad you got a non-defective phone and can start to enjoy it

I exchanged my first EVO LTO for frequent reboots at a Sprint Corporate store, 2nd one perfect!
On my third LTE. Should have kept the first one. Hope the new shipment BB gets is better than the ones they had last week.
First LTE: Dust under glass and slight light leakage
Second: Pixel stuck in on position and screen has the flex/ripple issue when under medium pressure
Third: Has flex/ripple issue as well and wifi on this one and 3 G has been worse than the first two
Next shipment comes in Friday. Crossing my fingers for a GOOD one!
My first was light leakage and second was ripple and all I can find around here all have the ripple, hope this goes away in the upcoming batches...

I had to return my first one as well. I was not getting calls txt or voice mails. Data worked find but nothing else.
exchanged it at best buy, and all my messages came through right away.
I suspect that it was not a phone issue but an activation issue.

You mean like the Galaxy S3, the phone that will have zero problems on launch day? Good luck. My first Evo had a bad pixel, and I am waiting on the replacement. I was going to get the SG3 instead, but after reading the UK SG3 threads, there are a lot of issues. I decided that the Evo is best for me. Whether it is superior or not is subjective.
Yeah, as stated above, it will have issues. Hell, go to the S3 forums here at xda and review the complaints of various folks.
In the end, my EVO is imperfect, but as usual with HTC, software updates will fix these annoyances, so I'll be patient.

It is amazing to have the chance to compare two different phones. I ended up unfortunately having that experience after I dropped my brand new EVO LTE in the toilet. My first phone I noticed that it didn't auto dock on my car dock even with the option turned on.
Haven't tried the camera on the new phone but old phone seemed like it didn't take sharp pictures like I was expecting but ones that were more out of focus than really blurry.

The best way to tell is go to an Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Best Buy, etc. and try it out for yourself.
I have normal sized hands and when I first got it, it definitely felt on the large size, even coming from an S III but it only took me a couple of days to get used to it.
After a day or two you will not even think about how large your new phone is but how small and toy-like you old phone feels.

I'm petite. Have small hands. But I like the screen size and how the battery life is better than the gs3. Also like the multi window feature. But would this phone be too big for me. Will people look at me weird if I put this phone to my ear? Lol I also like the fact that I don't need a tablet if I get this phone lol I currently have an iPhone 5

Will people look at you funny? Yes they will. In 6'3" 220lbs and people look at me funny. As others said though is probably best to give it a shot in store and see if you like it. My wife is 5'2" and tiny and after playing with my note now wants one

Yes people will look at you funny. But does it really matter when you have the best phone available right now? I would'nt trade mine for anything and i came from having a gs3 to the note 2.
Hi,
I came from a thunderbolt and so happy I decided on the note 2. I was thinking of the gs3 and let me tell you the screen size makes doing everything so much nicer. Plus no lag at all.
This is on stock I will make the jump to beans 7 once he releases it.
This is the way you can really see 4g in its full glory.
Thanks,
Bryan
You get used to the size of the note after a few days, its normal to me now and every other phoneni use feels too small lol
And when it comes to using it, I mainly use it with two hands. I don't text or use the phone while driving so I never need to use it with only one hand.

I had the s3 before this too. I was absolutely blown away by how much longer the battery life lasts over the s3. That's the best way to tell considering I do everything in did with the S3, even have my home screens set up the same.

LOL, no kidding.
We bought a 60" rear projection Sony Wega about 9 years ago (I was in the TV/stereo business for years and still got everything wholesale at that time) and everybody who saw it was dumbfounded.
Now, it still looks pretty big but my Son and I where looking at a 90" Samsung at BestBuy recently and thinking ours looks kinda small........
My friends make fun of me by holding ridiculously sized rectangle objects (like books) to their ear and acting like they are on the phone Lol....however the ooohs and ahhhhs follow with the capabilities of this phone....its hard to gauge in the store especially if they have a security cord attached. Just grab one... There is a return policy if you dont like it...also stop worrying about what people think of you...I've been providing haters with job security since 1980... I'm an equal opportunity employer. Ha
I had to return my first HTC One for exchange because of dead pixels. I was working with a rep at AT&T and I had to restore my phone and my phone booted into TWRP right in front of him and I know he saw. I'm so glad those guys are clueless. Just thought i'd share, if you were worried that they wont accept it back if your unlocked the bootloader you have nothing to worry about. He had no idea that it was not the way it was suppose to work. He was more curious that I gave up the S4 for the HTC One.
Now I wouldnt recommend taking a chance so just restore before you go
Most reps don't have a clue.. But come to my store and let that happen I'll over look it because I'm all for having unlocked bootloader and s-off... It's the douche bags that try and lie to me about how there phones got bricked that don't like me

I return an iPhone 4S once that was jail broke with a theme on it because the headphone port was not working. Had I know he was going to actually look in the "About" section of the phone, I never would have left the theme on it. He didn't even care, we started talking about jail break stuff etc.. etc..
I've met quite a few people in my dealings as a AT&T corporate employee over the last 14 years that are far from clueless. I had a guy promoting rooting my Galaxy S2 for a multitude of reasons right in front of my buddy who happens to be my boss, and in charge of enterprise sales, right in the AT&T store.

yea the ones who know about jailbreaking and unlocking etcetc are cool about it hell i have had phones come back with MIUI on it and AOKP they didnt lie about it lol told me what was wrong i looked in to it handed them a new phone and with about my day .
whats funny is the "sneaky" ones lol attempting top tell me they have no idea how it happened IE a custom rom was flashed lol
I have actually been told by an AT&T support rep to root my phone and install a custom rom to help improve my phone. This was with an HTC Inspire back in the day but I just about died. A support rep, on the phone, told me the best way to fix my phone was to root it and install a custom rom. Still makes me chuckle.

Lol. It was fairly useless in stock form but I was dropping calls left and right and the phone was 31 days old. It was a bit of a shock to hear but it actually helped me get a new phone instead of a warranty replacement, so it all worked out in the end.

Honestly, I don't think most of them even care. Like when I traded in my s3 for an s4 Paranoid Android was installed and he just did a factory reset and put the phone away before it could even boot back up. Same thing happened with my Atrix, GNex, and Skyrocket these past couple years at Best Buy.
I just sent my first One back to AT&T with TWRP on it. Keeping my fingers crossed they don't notice before I get my refund. I currently have $1400 tied up in these phones since I paid full price, so I really, really, REALLY hope they don't catch it. I did flash a stock ROM and unrooted it, and sent it back powered on with a full charge so hopefully they will just take a quick glance at it and refund me my $700. My new MacBook Pro that I plan to buy this weekend is riding on it :good:

As long as fastboot in enabled in settings I don't think you will have any issues. They will just restore it to stock and move on. You should be good

I'm 99% positive that it wasn't enabled. I think it's disabled by default and I didn't turn it on. How would that affect it though? I don't think they are gonna go over it with a fine tooth comb, they are probably just gonna inspect it for physical damage and call it a day.
Or so I hope.

It was always enabled for me by default. When it is disabled on boot it will display red letters showing that it has been tampered. Either way you should be fine, unless the employees know about HTC they won't have a clue what that means.

Well my current one is still just stock rooted, and fastboot isn't enabled. I haven't touched it which is why I'm assuming it's disabled by default. I'm really not that nervous about it, even if they catch it and try to pull some grap, I am very good at arguing. I'll get my money back.

I wouldn't worry either but I have had 3 HTC Ones and every one of them had fastboot enabled on first boot. When you try to install recovery one of the steps are to disable it so maybe that is why it was disabled. If not they will give you the info because they will reimage anyways
That would definitely explain why I had to use adb to boot into recovery the first time after installing TWRP. Man I'm rusty lol.
I know at my store I'm the only one that understands how to get in the fastest menu and I'm sure most stores don't check that deep lol

Really? I tried to return my HTC One X a few weeks back due to a hardware issue with the handset speaker and they wouldn't take it because it was tampered. =/ The guy even asked his supervisor if they could take it because it wasn't bricked and was in perfect working condition with the exception of the handset speaker.
On the bright side I got the One because they wouldn't replace my One X. Lol. =]
