Automatically Forget WiFi Passwords, No Instant Reconnect? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This seems like it should be a base feature, but I can't find it anywhere.
Whenever someone connects to wifi the system stores that connection and their password indefinitely.
Even if you try to make the wifi settings forget that particular network while you're on it, it disconnects from it.
Is somehow caching and automatically re-connecting upon any disconnect to the nearest and best wifi network an auto-feature in android?
I would like it so it's simple.. you can connect to a wifi network but the system does not remember the password at all, if you're disconnected you stay disconnected until you manually reconnect.
What am I looking for?
Thanks

WiFi keeps forgetting my WLAN Network

My s740 seems to work fine on my home Wifi network. But for some reason at my work network it's showing the network, but not connecting to it. It even keeps coming up saying new network found, so each time I put the WPA Key in and it will work for a while. As soon as it's disconnected it's forgotten again and I have to search and reconnect fresh every time.
What's going on? Is there a setting on the phone to sort it? Or something on my WiFi router I need to set??

Wi-fi on 4.0 player not working?

Hi guys. My 4.0 player suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. It recognizes and connects to Wi-Fi but every time I try to access the internet it says "No Connection". Any ideas on how to fix this?
No idea other than to just check Settings --> Wireless and network --> Wi-Fi settings --> Wi-Fi networks to make sure that you're actually signed in. I've walked out of range of my router and then when I came back it did not reconnect. Wi-Fi icon still there, no apparent errors, but no LAN connection. Then again, I have a junk router, so that may have had something to do with it.
Make sure you don't have a static IP set up, that can sometimes cause it.

WiFi only reconnects after manually reconnect to network (logcat)

Hello,
Every known wifi network I walk into, I get an wifi connection failure and my phone does not get connected. After going to the wifi network settings and manually choose connect, there is no problem...
Also overnight, my connection get lost and when I wake up I have the same error. I have to do the same thing (manually connect to my known wifi network(s).) before I can use it...
Deleting the network and adding it again will not solve the issue. I have attached the logcat. I also have enabled extended wifi logging for the logcat.
At 16.21 I enabled wifi and it does not connect
At 16.50 I manually connect to the network
Does anybody know what's going on?
Thnx!
Another logcat during night. Somewhere I lose my wifi and my device won't reconnect.... I gave to manually choose reconnect on the known wifi.
I already deleted the data in data/misc/dhcp and data/misc/wifi and removed all the known networks and start adding them.
Already did a full wipe (factory) reset with no results..

Wifi connects then immediately disconnects

Hello
I'm having trouble connecting to a lot of Wifi networks that most other people with Android and Apple phones have no problems with, including my home network.
Here's what happens:
Turn on WIfi, select SSID, type in the correct password. It connects for about a second (I know because snapchats etc, pop-up), then disconnects and changes to "Saved".
Then the SSID disappears from the list of available networks, and exists only in the Saved Networks section. If tap it I get only "Forget" & "Cancel".
To try to work out what was going on I enabled Developer options and set "Enable Wi-Fo verbose logging".
If I go through the same cycle, it connects for a second, then goes to saved and shows this underneath the SSID
"NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED+ASSOCIATION REJECTION=1"
I'm on Android version 7.1.2 Build No. TOS137B - N2G47H
The phone isn't rooted or anything
Can you tell me what's going on and how to fix it?
Hi there
Just wondering if you have McAfee installed?
I'm not much of an expert but I had a similar issue with WiFi on my Medion X2050 (I think that's what it's called) and I uninstalled McAfee and the problem was gone.

Question Pixel 6 wifi keeps turning on after I turn it off

Hi folks,
Weird thing happening to me while I'm out of the country on vacation. Being out of the country is probably irrelevant though.
I'm in a hotel that has crappy slow "captive portal" wifi. So, you connect to the SSID without password, and it redirects you to a login page (name/room number), then it provisions the device.
The wifi frequently hangs or disconnects here, and is super slow even when it is working, so I decided to bail and just use my phone's mobile data. So I went into Internet and turned off the wifi. Slid that switch to OFF.
Looked down an hour later when I had trouble connecting to a site and found the wifi was back on and connected to the hotel site. I turned it off again, but shortly the same thing happened again.
Eventually I turned off the other part, where it can scan in the background for improved location etc, and THAT seems to have stopped the problem, but why does the wifi keep turning on and connecting when I've explicitly switched it off?
Bug? Feature?
Bit of a guess... you are on data roaming? If roaming, I bet the phone is looking for "better options" if discovery is on, and it will re-connect if it finds a wifi that it can use. I'll go with buggy-feature.
