no lock screen is what i prefer.
Widgetlocker is the best lockscreen replacement there is.
I'm curious what others use too. I always use stock myself

I bought widget locker many devices ago and with all of them there were too many problems to justify keeping it. Works flawlessly on this device. I just don't like the "delay due to recent home button press", but I suppose it's more to due with JB/ICS if I read correctly. So, yeah, widget locker.

I don't usually use a lockscreen either. I have never carried a cellphone in my pocket, I prefer to use a holster, and my phone is never out of my sight except when I'm at home.
I love the octo lock screen from AOKP, I can have 8 shortcuts/apps and change the icons, I just wish I could get it to work on touchwiz based roms like Beans.

nope not once...this device does not pocket dial from what i have seen.
Good thread. I've been trying them all out lately and have had trouble deciding on just one. I wish the pin lock would automatically accept it after you enter the correct 4 digits rather than having to press ok after.
I prefer not having a PIN or pattern lock, if my phone gets lost somewhere it makes it impossible for whoever finds it to go through the contacts trying to find "Me" or "Home", or from them opening a social media app and see who I am.
I run Cerberus anyways, so if it's gets stolen I can lock it remotely.
Widget locker is good. Anything with shortcuts for me.

Yeah, I hate that, as well as the lack of a hardware home button capable of waking the device. I also hate that I can't seem to record both sides of a phone call like I could on the international version. And also that wallpapers are not scrollable. I really like the white version, though, and the screen quality is a little better than my other one. LTE is nice, too. But I digress, this thread is supposed to be about hate.
2 things that actually bother me right now
-How slow it charges
-Google Music's interface is all messed up because it thinks it's a tablet.

My only issue with my phone is that my keyboard can't keep up with my typing rate thanks to the occasional pauses when touching the screen.
Atleast I can touch the screen for more than 3 seconds without it ignoring all input for another 10 seconds like the atrix.

Yes you can reassign it though you will have to be rooted for this to work. You can use root explorer go to /system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl. Before going into the file make sure you have read write selected. Then click on the file and open in text editor. Simply replace the word "search" with any of the 3 touchkeys name save the file and reboot. I believe rootexplorer automatically makes a backup of the old file though it's as simple as placing the words back to get back to "stock". This is very safe, Ive done it a hundred times on my Captivate, and it should not harm your device in anyway but I'm not responsible if you somehow screw up your device.

I'm trying to find a locking app similar to the lock on my iPad, when the phone is rebooted or sleep for more the 2 hours the iPad requires a code to unlock. But during normal use it's just normal unlocking. Anybody know of a Android app that would be similar?
Thought my note slipped out my pocket the.other afternoon while working on my truck and didn't realize I didn't have it till later that night, the last time I used it was outside my apartments with my truck and I automatically thought it fell and somebody found it and took it. Tried to call it but it just kept going straight to voicemail so that definitely made me think it was stolen since my.phone wasn't off before. But I.found it later under the seat in my truck haha. I want a.locking app so if it does get taken and the person turns it off and tried to turn it back on then it will ask for a code and lock them out

I don't know if it supports 2 hours as an interval, but the stock rom does this. Home, menu, settings, security, I think. Somewhere in there is the option to set the time after which your PIN will be requested.

A while back I lost my streak and I'd call it and it ring and go to voice mail except once someone rejected the same call and I knew someone had it. Lookout has an app that's called plan b that you can install remotely and will activate your gps so you can find it. Long story short I retrieved my streak and the guy who took it and wouldn't return it ended up with a broken car window. I also believe there's an app out there that'll completely lock your phone down too. Check lookout's suite of software, they may have something for you

Try out Cerberus it can remotely take pictures using the front or back camera and it emails the picture to you, bad guys face is there and also can use the back camera to figure out where they are. GPS locator remotely wipe SD and phone memory and also can set up other people's numbers (that you trust obviously) that you can send a wipe message to your phone from as well through text.
And its only $4 for a lifetime license.
I bought some NFC Tags to see if they would work on the Evo 4G LTE, and I was clueless! There was preformatted, ultra lights, and etc. I had no clue which ones would work. Turns out the first ones I tried, worked great on my EVO 4G LTE and Galaxy Nexus!

You're welcome. They are just cool, that's all. I truly can see the whole "CM9" and "Profiles" coming in handy! I would stick one in my truck and tap it every time I got in it, to set my phone to loud. lol
I can think of a few things to do with NFC tags, just need to get around to ordering a few.
Anyone have any recommendations on what to get? I'm assuming the larger capacity tags are good, esp for writing complex tasks.
I think NFC tags are rather useless. I keep wanting to use them but can't think of a useful way of using them. If want to put my phone on silent, I'll just use the volume rocker thank you very much. Could someone even tell me what complex task can't be done with just a few strokes?

I have 4 NFC tags.
1) For buddies that visit me frequently to launch Foursquare and check-in to my place quickly
2) A simple Normal to Silent profile toggle. Comes in handy when my daughter is napping. And is much quicker to use since I don't even have to unlock my phone to use it.
3) A switch that toggles a Do Not Disturb profile for bedtime. (I would not be able to toggle this easily without an NFC tag. I would have to set it to a specific time each day. Which is lame)
4) A switch at work that will put my phone into Vibrate mode and launch a ticketing website that I use for work. Then when tapped before leaving it puts my phone back into a Normal profile and sends a text to my wife telling her I'm on my way home. I keep this one by my light switch and turn my light on/off with phone in hand.
NFC tags aren't useful for everyone. But it's definitely helped me automate some of the more mundane and annoying tasks I do every day. And saves me a bunch of time doing them.
I think I need to get some of these...
I just got a pack of them and idk how i was able to live without them. One in the car that toggles betwin bluetooth on and wifi off abd it launches the music player. Other on my bed that turns all volumes down and my alarm sound up. They are nice to play with.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
1st: to make them more useful I used the mod to allow their use during screen off and lock. If I had to turn on the phone and unlock it NFC would be much less useful.
2nd: I don't have any complicated tags. The main one I use turns off wifi and toggles Bluetooth, and starts Multiplayer. So after I start driving I just have to touch the phone to the dash and my music wirelessly starts.
Its not complicated but it is much better than having to turn on the phone, unlock it, scroll to my widget and turn on Bluetooth. I never have to look down off the road.

Why does it have to be a complicated task? Why not just tap your phone to an NFC tag to mute it? or Pop open Pandora when you sit at your desk at work?
Yes, tasks are simple, but they are also repetitive in a lot of cases. Why not have the phone do it for you?

Tags For Droid. They're the best bang for the buck. You get the largest storage size I've seen at 1KB and a free keychain tag. And they cost the same as others of equal quantities with much less storage, that I've seen on Amazon.

When I'm trying to draw or write on my note, when I go to use it, it draws when i get within two inches or so of the screen....
So my regular, non-cursive, writing looks like crap. Bad.
How can I turn that functionality off, or turn sensitivity down?
***Tap the S-Pen on something hard, and see if there is a difference. Took me three tries.
I'm pretty sure that is not a feature, and is a defect either in the software or unfortunately the hardware. You might need a new S Pen to fix the problem the right way.
There's a youtube video out there on how to "fix" this issue, but what it really does is reduce the sensitivity of the pen to the screen and you probably lose some serious pressure levels when applying this fix. Sorry no link, but I would advise trying your S Pen on the verizon floor model and see if it does the same thing to that one. Then you can feel fairly certain you need a replacement pen.

I was thinking the same thing... if the pen is dropped and the tip is pushed back in to the pressure sensor then it would be 'active' all the time and the hover feature would be interrupted by the phone like touching the screen. A flat tip would be a good indication of that being the case.

check to see if the tip of the s pen is pressed in as it would be if you were touching the screen. It is a physical button that pushes in while writing.
I'm just wondering who uses the finger scanner, so I made a poll. I use it and it worked great for me over 90% of the time, so I think i'll continue to use it. It isn't as good as Touch ID, but it's still decent enough to use it every day.

I've found that if you vary the position of your finger just slightly when you're setting it up, it works a lot better. And I have two sets of the same finger, so maybe that's why I can get it every time.
Use the first one for both thumbs and both index fingers in proper way.
Use the second one for right thumb and left index while holding it in right hand, with different swipe angles.
Use the third one for left thumb and right index while holding it in left hand, with different swipe angles.
This will give plenty of ways of swiping to enable recognition better.
After reading a thread last night about having multiple sets I was thinking of doing it, now with both of your Comments I'll do it.
But seriously, it's a cool little feature. I didn't think I'd like it, I have never added a passcode on any of my past phones. Not even on the first iPhone or galaxy s1

I like it so far, is faster than entering a password, pin or pattern. sometimes it wouldnt recognize it but I dont mind swiping my finger a couple of times.
I would use it if it were more practical, like if I could link all my passwords to the scanner that would be cool, but since it only works on a few applications and is proprietary, I just don't use it enough and like to get into my phone quickly.
