[Q] "Root Externtal 2 Internal SD" & Low on Space Notification - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello,
I rooted my P769 L9 with no issues (thanks to everyone on the Temp Root thread). From there I used the app "Root External 2 Internal SD" with my 32gb class 10 micro sd card.
I have not had any issues until today. Though I've only used about 8.5gb of storage I am getting a Low on Space notification in my status bar.
If anyone can take the time to help me, I am wondering if I should use "Directory Bind" instead?
Considering that I am still using E2I, is it too late to switch everything over or would I have to do one app at a time?
Basically, what is the best way to solve this issue.
Thank you.

Hiya,
Go into Settings --> Apps. How much "used" and "free" space does its say for "internal storage"?

Hey,
Right now I have 1.7gb used and 154mb free.
Thx

The whole swapping the internal/external thing doesn't exactly work out how it sounds. From what I read, it only switches the label so you are showing the external card as the internal memory, but the actual internal memory where the apps go isn't really affected without some more hackary.

[Q] Help me understand the difference between the storage options on the rezound

Hey all,
I did a quick search in our forum and found a few early threads but nothing that explained the differences to me... This is my first android.
My questions are around this menu:
Settings -> Applications -> Storage Use.
on the 'Downloaded' and 'All' tab, at the bottom it says "Internal Storage"
with what looks like a max of ~2.3GB.. at least mine says 790MB Used, 1.6GB Free.
On the 'On SD Card' tab it says "SD card storage" and a max ~10.5GB or so... (1.3gb used 9.2gb free)
I know I put a 32GB SD card in my phone.... and under phone & SD Storage, I see these three different storage points.
What's what here? Is there an internal mounted SD card in our phones that I can't remove?
When I "Move to SD" card, is the app only moving to this other 'internal' storage?
I was a little confused by this, but if my removable 32GB SD card literally is just extended storage that I put my own music/movies/videos...etc. on, then that's cool...
I just want to understand that 'move to SD' isn't actually moving it to my SD card at all... And then, how many of you move your apps to this other 'internal' SD card, or do you actually have a way to put them on your 'removable' SD card.
Don't know whether this is your first Android phone or, like me, you migrated to the Rezound from another phone, but here's the scoop. What used to be called \emmc on the Incredible, or the "internal" drive of 8 gigabytes is now mounted on the Rezound as \sdcard. Many applications think that your "external memory" is what is actually this "internal" 16 gb drive on the Rezound.
Your removable microsd card is mounted both as \sdcard2 and as \sdcard\ext_sd. For applications which enable you to designate a data directory, e.g. Titanium Backup, My Backup Pro, XDA Premium, Tapatalk, etc., you can redirect the app to store its data on the "real" external drive. Otherwise, your "external" data will really be stored on the "internal", nonremovable 16gb drive.
The other space (I believe it's 8gb) is for applications and ROM. It's so capacious, right now at least, that the necessity we faced on the Incredible and other phones to: (1) "move apps" to SD; or (2) use an ext3 partition and link2sd, is not as pressing. For instance, I easily have >100 apps installed and I still have nearly 2 gigabytes free in that space.
Hope this helps.
This part confused me and seems redundant. Coming from the Inc1 and 2 I never use the internal memory. With a 32gb card I want everything automatically saved on that. Now I have to deal with sdcard sdcard and ext_sd. I'm not enjoying this part of the phone but at least we have an sd
What your phone calls "sdcard" is actually your internal storage, most apps look at "sdcard" as your actual removable card, on this phone it is not. What your phone calls "sdcard2" is your removable sd card. If you want an app to store things on your removable sd card you have to either change the path in the app itself(of course most apps don't have this function) or move the data there manually. Its completely stupid and I hate it, but no phone is perfect.
once everything is fully unlocked we can edit things to switch the 2 around

annoying storage notification

Hi,
I use my Razr with a 32GB SD-Card to extend the internal storage. I now realized that there are two notifications when there is less than 1GB internal and external memory left. And if you quit it it will appear again and again and ...
Why that Motorola?
So my question: Is it possible to disable this?

Can you explain how to determine memory used/available for apps?

When I check storage, it says I am using 2.20GB for applications. I thought the phone only had 2GB of memory aside from SD storage. Furthermore, I don't see the move to SD card option anywhere. How do you know when you are reaching your limit?
Thanks!

Moving Apps to SD Card

It seems that choosing the "move apps to SD card" op tion merely moves apps to the internal SD storage...whiskey tangro foxtrot!
Google promised to fix the 2gb limit and awkward partitioning scheme for Android with ICS...a long, long time ago. What happened?
My issue is twofold-- one, is there a way to modify the phone so that the 2gb max can be increased before I move apps to the external sd card? Also, if there is just one large partition, will apps actually be moved where I want them? To my external SD? There has to be some editable property that chooses which mounted partition is considered the "SD Card".
Im surprised the manufacturers haven't been sued, considering you can't actually use the 16 or 32gb they advertise for-you can only use 1/8th of it for apps. And even when moving them to the SD card, you're still limited, because certain apps can't/shouldn't be moved, and others merely store "some" data on the SD card, and leave the rest where it defaulted to. So you might end up with 2gb of apps on the internal, and 2-4gb on the internal, but I've never actually seen a android device full for this reason. And remember that 2gb? Yea....you'll be notified that there's "insufficient space" even though you have 400-500MBs, and are only trying to install a 500k app.
What's the deal?

App Storage?

I have a TS with 8 GB internal memory and have installed a 32 GB micro-sd card. If I look at my "storage" setting, it indicates that I hav 1.27GB TOTAL "Internal" storage, 4.91 GB "Phone" storage and 29.3 GB "SD" card storage. My "internal" storage is almost completely filled with apps, whereas my "phone" storage and "SD" card storage are almost empty.
It looks like all apps are being loaded to "internal" storage. Not sure the difference between that and "Phone" storage. My watch will no longer let me download apps because the "internal" storage is full. Is it possible to direct the storage to the"Phone" storage? I can;t find a setting for that anywhere.
Internal- where the apps go
Phone- where music, pics and such go
SDCard- where music, pics and such go
I had suggest a long time ago that internal be made larger or that internal and phone be made converted into internal only and require an SDCard. Almost nobody wanted this.

Click to collapse
Well that sucks......Time to delete some apps I guess..
Have you tried an app like "apk2sd" to move as much from internal to SD card ? I am sorry I cannot remember the name exactly, I have not used such since I retired my Droid3.

Problem with apps2SD is that if he factory resets the watch, the apps and data are still on the SD card but the watch won't know that. It's like you deleting a shortcut but not uninstalling the app.
