Hi everyone,
Basically, I am wondering if partition the SD you can move ALL the application to the SD, is that right? In that case, which is the simplest (or advise) configuration? FAT32 and SWAP? FAT32 and EXT2?
If it's useful, I'm using android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5, and ROM ARHD 7.2
Thanks!
Try this app,link2sd,download it,and link your apps to the second partition, eother ext or fat32 depending on what your kernel support

I noticed that you posted a question in the general section. As you are still getting help with your issue this should be moved to the Q&A. However once you get your issue solved you can re-write your OP into a 'How to guide' . then just ask the mods (using the triangle report button) to move back to the general.
You could help others that have the same question
Thanks

Ok, many thanks!!
However, noone has confirmed me about if partition the SD, is it right that you can move all the apps to the SD card, even those apps that you were not able to move before partition the SD card or using Titanium Backup?
And other other hand, what is the recommended partition? FAT and EXT2? FAT and SWAP?

jje
I formated it with first software that came up after the google search,
but the galaxy s 2 says that the file system is not supported...
is there anything else i need to do to make it work?
Plesae help me i couldnt find anything!
I really need help here guys, I bought the sdcard
for putting hd films on it, and splitting them is not an option
because I use subtitles from a file and they are not together
with the mkv file...
It went to like page 5
What i think you need is link2sd from the market and dual partition the sdcard.

Which ROM are you in? Maybe you're ROM can't mount SD Card as ext2. You could also try exFAT.
I'm using Checkrom Revolution v4...
Using another program to format it will work?

You can create multiple partitions on your external SD card formatted with ext2/3/4 or NTFS (together with Siyah kernel and ntfs-3g) or FAT32. Use your PC and a partition manager or fdisk/mkfs on your rooted phone.
But you have to mount the partitions manually or you need special support from the kernel (via ueventd). If you want to replace the external FAT32 partition completely with another filesystem for use with the ROM as media partition you need a compatible mount manager (vold daemon). The vold version 2 in stock ROMs only supports FAT32. I guess there is no difference with Checkrom Revolution. As far as I know only CM 7 has support for a (read only) NTFS partition and extX.
Changing a kernel would make it work on CheckRom Revolution?
if so, is there any recomended kernel?
I am wondering the same thing. I am using the stock Samsung kernel...
So i haven't used link2sd but i've read many good things so i'm trying it out on my OG evo while I wait for best buy to call me and tell me my evoLTE is in. For those that already have the phone can you give me a simple walk through for partitioning and which format to use, ext2, ext3,ext4, etc
i just did a partition using amon's recovery and made a 2gb ext3 on the OG evo. about to download link2sd and give it a try
edit...i have my evoLTE but I'm hesitant to partition my 32sd card.. any input anyone??
double post
I don't think you'd need to use link2sd. Maybe phones with 1gig of storage like on the OG EVO but the LTE has 16 gigs internal.

16gigs internal but i thought only 2gigs was for app data...did i read that wrong, i'm pretty sure only 2gb are allocated for apps
yep i triple checked....2gb for apps
for anyone interested Link2SD works fine if you make the partition ext2, I made a 8gb ext2 partition on my 32gb card and moved apps over to the sd just fine. I saw multiple posts about people wishing they could store their apps on the external sd, well this is one way
As of version 2.1.1 Link2sd will NOT work on El Tevo. It doesn't recognize the external sdcard. It only recognizes the internal flash ram - which is not something I want to partition at this time.
Particularly since I'm waiting for a non-HTC method of unlocking the bootloader and I have no custom recovery/nandroid.

Hows performance? Most of the time you take a hit on that area when you run any type of apps to SD programs ...

I haven't noticed any change in the apps i moved to link2sd....i didn't move any apps that deal with music or video though like Netflix, slingplayer, YouTube. so just be smart about which apps you move, but it works great

I finally got around to downgrading my partition from ext3/4 to ext2. It works just fine now - just like dahray said.
I also haven't noticed any major performance hits.
How would you change the partition? I've been trying to figure out how to save my apps on my 32gb since I got this phone. Link2SD doesn't detect my external at all.

Use a programm like Minitool Partition Wizard, there are others that are similar but i like this one because it is simple to use and allows youcreate a second partition on your SD without having to format it. So you don't have to backup and then put everything back on the card again.

i have a 32gb card. i want a 4gb partition for apps, so i need to make one ext2 that is 4gb...does the exact size matter? also, does the 2nd partition need named? if so, what should i name it? i downloaded minitool partition wizard and it looks easy enough.
The exact size doesn't matter and it doesn't have to be named.

I know there are a LOT of guides for this and I was looking them but is taking me a hard time to understand what should I really do. I recently installed CyanogenMod 7.2 on my Live with Walkman. I have a 32 GB sd. The thing is I've been always used this app (Link2SD) WITHOUT my SD partitioned. The only thing I do is when an app is installed on phone (internal memory) I just move it with this app and that's it. I don't link it or anything cause I haven't partitioned my SD. But im curious about this, is it really necessary to make a 2nd partition for this? If it is possible, how can I do it? I have already read a LOT of guides but I want an easy way, I read somewhere it is even possible to make the partition via CWM, is that true? Also, I don't have a SD reader or anything, (I have a macbook) but I have Windows 7 installed in a virtual machine (Parallels).
So is there a way to do it that doesn't requiere a memory card reader? Please help

2nd partition is very necessary for Link2SD....bear in mind if you use the native app2SD (moving apps using Link2SD) it only move the apps(apk)...if you have 2nd partition and use Link2SD to link, then you can move not just the apps(apk), you can also move the data, dalvik-cache and the lib that come along with the apps....
i don't know if CWM can make partition but ROM manager can make it for you....

just follow the instructions on ROM manager on how to partition your SD....then ROM manager will reboot into CWM and it will make partition for you....just one draw back using ROM manager if you want to make partition is the biggest partition you can make is 512mb .....
i suggest you use MiniTool Partition Wizard to make 2nd partition....
The best way is using mini tool.
Backup your sdcard content first.
After that, open mini tool, delete your sdcard, create 2 new partitions. Both must be primary, set first with FAT32 or FAT. Then the second is your sdext. Make it to up to 1gb or less. Then create linux swap, 100mb is enough. Then press apply.
Done,

Hi guys, this is my first post here.
I have a question: I know that i can't do a sd partition without a mod kernel, but there's no mod kernel for my device(sola)!
In development section there is a script that let me move app to sd but I don't understand if it works like Link2sd or if it is a great substitute of a sd partition..
Tnx for help!
are you refering to sd card not mounting as sd ? if so and you are a rpot user if u can send me ur vold.stab from systrm/etc i can look at changing it for you

that is absolutely not true. you dont need a custom kernel to partition your sd card.
what you need is a class 4 and above memory card and a rooted phone.

so you are saying that the apps and app data are biengs stored on ur internel memory not your sd card when using apps2sd

Link2sd moves tha app on my ext sd card (not the phone sd card) but i know that it doesn't move it completly, it moves only a part, the other still stay on the memory's phone (or phone sd card i don't know).
I read a some post on this and in order to move totally the app to the ext sd card I know is necessary create a partition on the ext sd card and have a custom kernel (i'm not really sure about this last thing because a user over here says that it doesn't necessary and stock kernel is ok);
I only want to know if there is a alternative method to move the full app on the ext sd card (like the script in the post of the development section, but i don't understand if it's the solution that i'm seraching) or the only way is create a partition on the sd card (using a mod kernel or not..).
tnx a lot!

u mean 2.34 GB for app storage, right? because rezound has approximately 11 GB for data storage (the phone storage).
from the subject if u mean something like app2sd darktremor script, super app2sd script, cronmod data2sd/ext2sd script or any others. All these scripts have 2 specific partitions for both the app and data by using partitioned sd card, i've used for some my old phones.
i've read related threads here for seeking the function too but never find at least one special thread about this kind of modding or other rom threads that provide data2script mod in their roms. Honestly i need it too
may be u have to make some gambling here for trying to use universal data2sd/ext2sd or any kinds which compatible for rezound in general hacking modding thread

Look at Link2SD... I have been using it since the days of my HTC Aria, it essentially makes your programs partition as large as you have SD card partition space and it has a nice interface. You do have to partition your SD card though, adding a partition specifically for Link2SD and then the application creates symbolic links in the normal partition for apps that point to the sd card. Make sure you read the instructions on how to use it though, or you will be wasting your time (use Link, not move).
