With all the kernels and releases coming out, what is the general consensus on when ICS ROMs will be considered stable or feature-complete?
Was the recent i777 leak what developers were looking for to complete/optimize ICS ROMs? Or are we still waiting on i777 kernel source? Is Entropy's kernel a long-term solution?
Just wondering when to flash.
Thanks forum.

I would say we already have some stable ics roms like aokp and shomans rom and a few others im running ics now its perfect

But I remember being schooled about "oh we need i777 kernel source before we get ICS" whenever I inquired. We don't seem to have i777 source, but i9000 is good enough?
Let me rephrase my question, how much better will the current ROMs get when i777 kernel source is released? Will we see an AOSP ROM?

I honestly doubt the i777 kernel source will affect us whatsoever unless of coarse some type of nfc is included

I have yet to find a single bug running Shoman's rom. Your mileage may vary, read the thread et cetera but if you're asking when to flash I'd just go for it.
+1 on Shoman's ICS rom. It has operated flawlessly for me.
I9100 source is what we needed. We're only a little bit behind I9100 now. I9100 ICS has some nasty stability problems, I'm hoping to fix them before releasing DD for ICS. I'm working with gokhanmoral and a few others on it, it's not I777 unique.

SHOstock ICS rom is amazingly stable and already in 5th release with more on the way
CM9 now has nightly builds for I-777. I fell in love with CM7 and am really liking the official CM9 nighty builds so far.
ICS leak
The ICS i777 leak, which has been bundled as a cwm zip without bootloaders
is working good for me with only a few minor bugs
alarms not working
wifi only scans after toggle
battery stats graph crashes
I don't know how this compares to i9100, the ICS leak is the first I've tried.
It's stable enough for me to not look back and stick with ICS
I'd definitely recommend SHOstock2, it's head and shoulders above the ATT leak in a lot of ways and I haven't had a single crash or noticed any bugs since installing RC4.

I agree with the uclc2 leak, I had the following issues: Titanium Backup would not install any of my games+data and 1/2 my apps would not install. From what I could tell were any of the apps and games that I had moved over to sd card would not be restored under the leak. Than all of a sudden, my phone had locked up after getting most of my apps *from the batch restore missing apps and data* and quit even getting service when wifi was on and try to turn off wifi = lockup/reboot. Really weird after 4 hours of running it. Under SHOstock2 Rc4 everything restored properly and even upgrading to rc5 which gave back the multi toggle options and running very stable. Zero issue with it.
HTH,
Charlie
I've been running LilChris's phone-bricker with zero problems. Restored apps and data using tibu. Fast and smooth.

Been running the AOKP build from Ported Dev thread with no major problems. Only problem is that when I am listening to music and a text or notification comes in, the music volume is lowered by 2 notches, then when I try to turn it up it goes by about 3 notches. Its a balancing act to get the volume back. Thats my only grippe. I havent had much time to read so I dont know if the newer ICS roms have fixed that issue.
It seems like all the ROMs have a few little glitches. Is there an ICS ROM that can record video at 1080p? Or connect to a 5GHz AP? Or has HDMI/MHL functionality?
I'm switching to the first one that does all 3. I'd be really excited if we can get NFC too.

This is what gets me excited. It's always great to hear that developers from the android community are working together to bring exciting features to our phones. Thanks for all of your hardwork. Try lp3 stock from i9100 forum.. Flash with mobil odin but make sure in same flash you use entropy kernel and one of are modems. Then switch usr touchkey file.. Instructions in port section for file.

So, uh, whats the point of this thread? Why do we need another ICS thread? If this is truly different than the main ICS thread then it can stay open, but from what im reading, its not.

Yea I now see why the mods are so close-happy in this sub-forum. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to invoke a flood of ROM-reviews by starting this thread. All I had wanted was a general outlook of ROM-stability coming from official leaks and releases.
All the devs have done an excellent job getting the jelly bean roms to where they are today, quite amazing. But for me I can't use any current JB rom as my daily driver, too many issues and I'm not the only one who uses my phone.
I'm just curious to hear what rom your using right now until the JB roms get smoothed out? Or what rom you recommend, which you think is the best and why?
I'm back on 4.03.605.2 stock w/ root for now, but I keep finding myself flashing a JB rom every now and again hoping that the bugs are going to magically disappear and I can use it everyday. I can't wait until all the kinks are ironed out.

I'm on infection its pretty stable but my battery life isn't to great and I'm not to good with tweaking kernels and governors. I'm thinking about trying the jb ics mix from newt and the new jb Rom from neo with the dinosaur name but I will probably go back to stock soon or buy a s3 on Craigslist if the price drop.

On Ineff waiting for video issues to be cleaned up. I watch too much Netflix and YouTube and the tearing annoys me.
I run both wildstang'83's CM10.1 2-13-13 and shrike's PAC-Man v19.3.0 PMEM, along w/ shrikes Ermahgerd kernel build 13.02.13 and Entropy tweak w/ zero issues.
I'm trying to find one where WiFi tether stays working -_-
Well I'm on Neo's Rax... and having zero problems except Chrome has the tearing problem, but it's very usable for 95% of what I do.

Have tried Infected, Vanilla Cyanogen and one other AOKP flavor and cannot get Exchange account to function properly. Also, BT calling is essential, so that rules out any CM 9 version.

Have you compared Ineffibalis to Nilsp's Business Sense 3.6 rom?
Asking becuase I like you need most features to work like BT calling for when I'm driving etc.
I find everything to be working in Business Sense except the integrated Voip calling can not send DTMF tones.
I left a question about the SIP client in the Q&A section but no one has responded.

I'm also finding this to be an issue. I cannot get WiFi tether to work properly in almost any ROM. JB ROMs don't work with android WiFi tether and the AOSP ROMs won't let me use encryption. I'm tempted to jump ship and goto a desensed ROM or a sense 4.0 ROM till things smooth out.

stangs cm10.1 latest is stable. if you want something more custom but still as much as stable as the stangs vanilla build, go with one of neo's many roms. keep in mind that aokp still has some bugs to work out.

JB works really well, it has a couple minor issues though, if you record a lot of video or watch a lot, I'd stick to a Sense based rom for now, otherwise have at it, you can't go wrong with CM10.1.
Front facing camera on these CM10.1 roms are working at full rez, right?
Haven't seen any update from joelz in a couple months. No update on Team Venom site either.
Anyone hear anything?
Joelz you still working on this?
From what I heard, most of the team moved to developing ViperRom for the HTC ONE X. It's a good bet they're either focusing on the HTC DNA or the ONE now.

I'm running Infection 2.5 as a daily driver and have very few issues with it. When's the last time you visited the JB ROMs? Even camera and video playback is fixed now.
I heard some rumors about that, but couldn't find any hard evidence. It looked like they were even testing a beta version. And then nothing... I hoped they would at least be more forthcoming about ditching the Rezound if that's what really happened.

Last version I tried was 2.3, but I've been following the threads and it still seems like people are having issues. I heard camera was still messed up. I just can't go to grab my phone and have core functionality not work. I ,might give it a try again soon...but I'll be honest. I think I like sense better than aosp. Never thought I'd say that.
That's really the reason viperrez is so great. Its the most stable non-stock ROM I've ever used. I haven't had a bug in over a year of running it and it offers better features and battery life than stock. There is no reason to not be running it.
Sent from my aokp_tenderloin using Tapatalk HD
ViperRez had no support after its initial release. After about 8 months of empty promises of an update they finally closed the thread and were supposedly going to reopen it when the update was ready. But of course it never came and the closing of the thread was the final nail in the coffin.
Try EclipticRez. It's fantastic. Smooth and the support is awesome. New version just came out last week.

the only, and i mean ONLY thing viperRez has over ecliptic rez is the visual customization: icons, sense colors, statusbar, etc
also consider that everything sense on viperRez is downscaled to qHD (it really shows in the music app, for example).
Better support all around.
Also, Joelz DID update the rom, but it's in eternal beta and you have to get his permission from the viperRom forums or something

the most stable from my experience was a cm9 ics based rom as its most compatible with the device...most roms 4.1 based and higher have reboot issues because of a deep sleep issue caused by the default setting of the min frequency being too low under performance settings...but if you want everything to work including bluetooth and not have sense cm9 would be your best choice...4.3 based roms still have many bugs such as mms not working after first reboot and camcorder keeps force closing..4.1 and up still has a few bluetooth based bugs and your reboots...the reboots still happen on 4.3 based roms like pac until you change it to proper settings

The AOSP ROM I used for a while was PAC but it started rebooting a lot because it overheated while charging. CM9 was stable for me and CM10 is almost stable.

full asop
Even the latest version of cm9 (back in 05/28/13) has bluetooth problems. Is there really no aosp or kang that is 100% functional? Weather it be 4.0, 4.2, 4.3? Came close with Liquid Smooth but still having soft reboots.
Consider Talon v1.0, because either nobody is using it (unlikely with over 3000 views), or people are using it and brenuga just built it right and it works... and my money is on the later. Seems extremely stable, feature rich, and bug-free, it is what I am going with for my work phone.
My ROM of choice is CM10.1.3. I have zero issues with it. CM9 would be my next choice.
