Hello guys.
Some Asus motherboards has a feature that can charge phones x3 times faster than the usual charging using B.C 1.1 function.
When I connect my S3 to the USB 3.0 port I get a BSOD!!! Do you know if S3 is compatible with this feature?
Though I don't know if B.C 1.1 function works only with USB 3.0
iPhone supports this
Thanks for your quick reply
ps: re-post the question as i realized that i posted it to wrong forum

I know Note 2 doesn't support B.C 1.1 as it doesnt detect the device for it. Seems the charge current is restricted by the kernel.
So S3 shouldn't be compatible.
But it shouldn't give you a BSOD. Seems something wrong with the driver somewhere. Try updating/reinstalling the AI Suite.
guys I just brought a usb3 cable to try this, if its not compatible why does stweak show usb3 options on the kernel?

No-one said its not compatible with USB 3.0. They said it's not compatible with B.C 1.1

Hey,
I purchased a USB OTG cable for my Archos G9 I'm getting for Christmas (two days!)
I tried a mouse, 4 flash drives and a keyboard, knowing that the Ace most likely doesn't include Host mode.. It didn't work at all, So I was wondering if any kernels support it or roms?
I know it can be hacked through like kernel modules, Just wondering how much work it would be to create modules and drivers for it? I'm not that experienced with creating kernel modules and what not, I've created and ported roms and fixed kernels before for the GT540 and to be honest, I'm really not that good at it haha.
Does anyone know anything we could do to make it work?
Thanks in advance,
Jamie.
-Edit:
Just saw this for the Blade, Based on the 600mhz 7227, http://sven.killig.de/android/Blade/usb_host/
Maybe this could be edited for our Ace?
I think that we can have USB Host, but i don't know why nobody tried to give us that feature... maybe cpu arch?
However, i want it too

It would be pretty cool Probably drain the battery alot though haha.
Its supported by the CPU as Qualcomm have said before, so its up to Samsung or a pretty cool and nice dev All the drivers and Kernel Modules are on the page I linked to so it'd be a case of making it all relative to the Ace and its kernel
Swyped from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Hope I'm not bringing up too old a thread, but I searched in correct forum and this is what came up.
Any news of anyone building the correct Kernel for the Ace II in order to support USB Host ?
II have a Samsung engineer getting back to me about if Ace II Android 4.1.2 can mount external USB devices, but unless Samsung supports this II'll have to replace Android with something that can.
Needing this for photo transfer from camera SD card. I could use a mini SD card but just paid out for a highest speed SDHC card. Anyway those llittle SD mini SD cards are too easy to lose on mountaintops and that kind of thing
USB host wiht libusb
I also am still looking for usb host mode support.
Does anyone have any information?
Anyone else unable to get the Galaxy Note to connect to a PC through a USB 3.0 port? If I switch to a USB 2.0 port, it comes up fine.

Found the issue - I just built a new desktop which supports faster charging of devices through USB. The specification is Battery Charging BC 1.1. The Galaxy Note does not support this. In fact, it isn't supported by many devices so I disabled it and VOILÀ... USB 3.0 ports see the Galaxy Note.
I'm curious to hear if this is causing your issue as well. The BC 1.1 spec is supported by the iPhone which I'm coming from and you list as one of your devices.
In my case, BC 1.1 is implemented by Asus' AI Charger+ - a function of their AI Suite. It can also be implemented by a stand-alone app called AI Charger.

Hi, could you kindly explain how to go about disabling the BC 1.1. Do i do it within Asus Suite or else where.
Appreciate your help. Thanks

Yes its within the Asus Suite. Bring up the Asus AiSuite application and click on the Tools button. Within the menu popup, select AiCharger+. You'll see enable and disable buttons.
THANK YOU!

Thanks for your post!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was totally buggged about why my USB 3.0 couldn't recognize the media device!
I even called Samsung that my awesome custom rig that Samsung could never put out into market was not recognizing the media device. And they said that they cannot guarantee USB 3.0 connectivity with the phone on a non Samsung computer. LMAO
Its just the AI Charger + LMAO!
Has anyone tried this cable with the galaxy player 5?
I found it on Amazon.com
SANOXY Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable Flash Drive SD T-Flash Card Adapter FOR Samsung GT-i9100 i9100 Galaxy S II 2 GT-N7000 Galaxy Note.
I cannot post links yet so sorry for the lack of that.
Would I need a ROM that supported it?
Thanks for any comments

I doesn´t try it but i think it will work cause galaxy player and galaxy S have same hardware...
I should work, as the Galaxy player has usb storage support (the internal sdcard is listed as usb storage, so I am assuming yes).
No Aries family device supports USB OTG by default.
Some people have had success in getting OTG partially working on Aries-family devices, but it is simply not possible to have full functionality. (Most specifically, the device does not have what is required to power an offboard accessory.)
Usb support for samsung galaxy 5.0 international (one with hard home button)

I've tried using an OTG cable with my player and it doesn't work. It looks like powered devices need t be used so maybe a y cable is better?

Not out of the box... but to anyone else Is there a kernel or other I can flash to enable usb host? I'd like to use a mouse and keyboard.
Anyone known of/if there will be a kernel or ROM that will enable USB OTG and charging? I have that set up for my Nexus 7 and would really like it running on my HOX+ I'm running the NAM version.

I am noticing at least nominal USB OTG support on my AT&T HOX+ with stock kernel. Just tested a wireless mouse and flash drive and both work just fine. As for "charging", I'm unsure of what that entails, but unless one of the kernels in the Development forums mentions it, you can expect that it's not currently on anyone's todo list.
S10 lite specs say, it's equipped with "2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector". I'm confused. So which generation of USB is that? Does this "reversible" have anything to do with OTG(hosting) ability or is that just an indication that it can be plugged both sides?
I'm diggin into this topic because I'm looking for a docking station, for my S10 Lite, with some USB 3 ports and HDMI. I was wandering if some docks aimed for computers will do. Like this one for eg.:
http://https://greencell.global/en/startseite/1954-docking-station-adapter-hub-usb-c-hdmi-green-cell-7-ports-for-macbook-pro-dell-xps-lenovo-x1-carbon-and-others.html
Wouldnt bother
Hi i really wouldn't bother with a dock for this phone while you might be able to get basic OTG support for a USB stick as storage that's about it, this phone has no USB 3 support, No DEX, and no HDMI output capability. just realised this myself and i'm gutted thinking about returning it for the A90.
Ok. Is hdmi/dex support hardware dependant then? No chance for hdmi with some ported rom? My previous handset had no otg support with stock firmware and then I foud out OTG was there when flashed some lineage or stock rom ported from a newer phone.

OTG maybe, HDMI afraid not the Galaxy s10 lite has a USB 2.0 port not the 3.1 port required to output a HDMI signal. The A90 is cheaper has and exactly the same specs apart from is 6gb ram instead of 8gb and has a 3.1 USB port with full dex support plus it has 5g, not entirely sure why the s10 lite even exists and really wished i had researched more before ordering
There is a multiport adaptor listed on the Samsung store, @deanstead2k18, have you tried an HDMI adaptor and it doesn't work?

I dont have the phone anymore or I would order one and give it a try, as far as I know it's not possible I tried several different multi port adapters with hdmi and none of them worked I even got an on screen message saying it's not supported. Traded in for an s10 plus and all the multi port adapters work perfect
Hmm - I suspect that the thing on a Samsung website is a misprint then honestly. Thanks for the info.
