Flashed new ROM. Battery charging is extremely slow!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I recently put a new ROM on. And now its taking ALL day to charge. Its only been doing this a few days. But it seems to take an hour to charge 1% using stock charger/ cable. Also tried others. Any help is very much appreciated!!!!

Need a bit more info please...
What rom/kernel...baseband, and carrier..
Also, are you charging with the phone in use, or is it turned off...
Also, are you overclocked, overvolted ??
and are you using the stock charger and cable ??
thanks in advance....g

Gubment cheese ROM. Stock charger/cable. No oc or UV. And the last charge was while sleeping. Went to bed at 46% woke up 6 hrs later at 89% and that is with the kernel that is included with ROM

A bit slower than normal, but if coming to this rom fresh, it needs a few days to "settle"...
My math shows this:
89% - end charge
minus
46 %- start charge
= 43% charge
divided by 6 hours, = 7.16 % per hour.
Better than my build gets right now....with a stock battery...(using CM9 stable today).....
Watch it for a few more days and monitor the charge rate. I'm not ruling out a problem with battery either, but considering the fact that your last build was better, the battery should be fine.
But honestly, once the stats get built and the rom settles in, you will likely see an increase in charging rate, and a decrease in discharge time.
The symptoms your having are not uncommon after flashing a new build.
Also, have you verified your wireless connections ?..I.E.is the device attempting to access wifi, or roam on wireless bands ?
Often times this causes rapid battery drain....
Thats my .02 at the moment brother......g

And I appreciate that!! I don't use WiFi. And most of the time I'm just on 4g. Always have good 4g connection at home. With nothing running background. I'll give it a few days though and see what happens!! Thanks broth a!!

Do report back with the charge percentages after a few days....it's good info for the rom threads...
thank you....g

I know its only been a few hours. Just got home from work after heavy use at work, threw it on the charger at 23% and went for a smoke before bed. Got back and already 28% I'd say that's on hell of an improvement from this morning!! I don't know why. But i be had this ROM running great for a few days. Then all the sudden slow charging. But now its fine. I really appreciate all the help!!!

Happened to me when i went from TW to AOKP. I was stuck at 19% for hr and than when I restored back to TW it started charging normal again.
May be some files left over from one rom causing the slow down.
About to try the avatar rom again and see if it's still going on.

Very possible ....
I always wipe the EMMC partition after a new rom ....
Without having the device in hand, it's impossible to say what the cause may be.
Whether it's a rom issue, or apps etcetera......g

I think I found the culprit....
If you have a .tmp folder delete it.
I deleted mine and my battery started charging normal again.

I had read something regarding that a few days ago. Couldn't find it anywhere in the phone. I completely wiped it. Returned it to factory GB and still had issues charging. I sent it back to att this morning after getting my warranty phone. So problem solved. Its something hardware related on mine

Here is a solution: Get a new ROM because the ROM you have installed is over clocked too much so the voltage the phone gets from the battery is almost equivalent to the voltage of your charger. The charger has a voltage of 5, which means the phone has a voltage of now 4.7V

Battery problem?

I am using bionix v and people are reporting 20+ hours of battery life using the battery left widget.. and when using my battety left widget (nearly fully calibrated) it tells me I have 9 hours left.. what's the deal? Is this a battery issue, and could I need a replacement. I have had battery issues with nearly all of my roms in the past. I guess it could be a conditioning issue. Please help

Not possible by someone who actually uses there phone. I never thought I was a heavy user but seeing replies like above I have to be past the definition of heavy user. With my extended battery I could get 2.5 days on a single charge.
Im also having battery drain with bionix newest rom. Nothings changed in my day-day usage. probably flash another modem or something.
I think I might switch to stock froyo if things don't get better. Or just order a new battery. Because it just drops like a rock. And im using watchdog but it doesn't really help that much. Or could someone with experience with battery drain guide me on how to stop it from happening?

Yes I got it from t-mobile but I have not used stock long enough to see whether it was just a rom issue. I have only flashed team whiskeys roms and they seem to kill my battery. Nero v3 was the best but still wasn't great. I leave around 6:30 in the morning and maybe use the phone to get on xda, engadget, facebook, etc for about 1 hour, But my battery drops like a rock when I do this. And ever since bionix v it has only gotten worse. From that one hr of usage it drops 40 percent. Is hsdpa that big of a battery-killer? Because on wifi it seems to do a little better. Idk if this is just a network issue or what? Like right now it dropped 2 percent just from typing this up. brightness is less than half and everything is set to manually refresh. Wth?

Edit: nevermind it seems to be doing well enough for the time being. Talked on the phone for 1 hour, texted, and went on xda and engadget. It is at 70%. On standby mode it ia doing loads better after reconditioning. Does losing 30% to doing stuff like that sound about right? Battery left says I have 7 hours 58 min remaining

(q) very slow battery charge

Hey guys I'm getting some really slow battery charge over here. I've had my phone plugged in the OEM ac charger for over 3h now and it went from 5% to 50% and the phone is getting hot also. I haven't touched it at all for those 3h and data is off so no internet. I don't get it. It's usually fairly quick maybe 1 to 100 for about 2h.
Edit: I'm running capcomalpha with fraux kernel and stock battery.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
The following suggestion may be of no help in your case, but I've experienced something like this as well, mainly with CWM that doesn't support off-charging. The phone will look like its charging but is actually drawing just enough energy to keep the phone alive. Also, the charging light will turn off after 15 mins or so. One way to ensure that your phone is getting charged adequately is to check the screen; if you see an ultra-dim screenshot of CWM then you'll have to periodically remove the charger and reinsert it "restart" the charge. Then try to boot into android to complete the charge.
The phone is on I rebooted it and it jumped from 55% to 68%

do your have a case on? the trapped heat is cause the phone to slow down charging. it is a safety feature. off the case and flip over when charging. it should charge faster.

What version of Recovery are you on and as you said your using faux kernel. Try to revert to stock recovery or stock kernel and see if there is a change or behavior of your phone. And try aand see if fastboot is check on your power under settings..

Ok i swithed to stock kernel and its doing the same thing. I reflashed the rom and didnt install any apps to see if thats the case. Obvious total noob here. I've read all the thunderbolt reference material here and have followed a couple of tutorials on how to root my thunderbolt, but I keep finding broken mirrors. I just keep finding dead ends. Can someone point me to a current root method for this device. My goal is to try the leaked ICS rom. Thanks.
The closest I got was with revolution.
It did see my device and I was on the last step but it seemed like my rom was not compatible. There was a nice video and followed all the steps.

Welcome to the rooted club! I just joined this week myself.
I hadn't seen the all in one tool but I think I'll snag it. Revolutionary worked great for me. The only thing I had to do was temp root since I was running the .19 ROM. It was smooth sailing after that.
I'm running SkyRaider 1.3 now. I'll probably flash to ICS next month after playing with SR for a bit.
What has SR been like for you?

So far I'm digging it. It's been considerably faster and seemingly more reliable than stock. The past two years have been hateful and I wish I would have rooted a long time ago.
I'm still trying to figure out what things have changed (like what new options I have and where to find some things) but it's been a fairly easy ride. I did have to flash twice to get it to work but now it seems to be solid.

Sounds like a battery. I typically charge overnight and I'm good from about 7-4. Then I charge on the 30 min drive home and I'm good until the nightly charge. I've never seen exceptional battery life even with JuiceDefender. Right now it's bad but not quite like yours. I was on a third-party battery, though. I just swapped to the HTC battery and I'll see how it is. I think I'm going to turn JD off as well to see how SkyRaider managers on its own.

I recommend turning off 4G. It's not really useful anyways unless you're trying to download something. Calibrate the battery also. Turn down your screen brightness and backlight timing. Also adjust how often accounts sync. Slow your CPU speeds.
You should be set after that.

Yeah, I only use 4G if I'm doing file transfers or tethering. I need to look at underclocking. How often do you sync? I have a number of accounts that I check every 15 min. I could probably increase that to 30.

You need to realize the stock battery is only 1450. So very small for a 4g phone. I have found juice defender only made my wallet lighter. You might want to look in to an aosp ROM as it gives you better battery life. I personally disable auto sync and turn off GPS. Also while I am at work I disable data as SMS and MMS doesn't come over mobile data part. In the end some people carries more than one battery on them if they won't be in a place they can charge.

Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.

OK guess I'm at a dead end lol I keep having to charge my phone like every hour to 2 hours Idk why my phone is barely a month old and I'm not really heavy using it hell it even drains when my screen is off just like it would with the screen on and it takes forever for it to charge I prolly had it on the charger all day today for the most part idk what I am doing wrong and my WiFi is always off every ROM I use is the same I even went to my 4ext and wiped the battery stats that didn't do anything and my GPS and sync and bluetooth is off since I never use them so why is my battery draining so fast?

You need a real charger. Not a micro usb. Either that or you need a new battery. Roms are not the cause of bad battery.

Get a new battery first let it calibrate itself after a few recharge decharge cycles and then report back. The amaze has some bad batteries that HTC will replace and or T-Mobile also.
I'm using the wallcharger it came with
