Hello everyone.
I ran into a serious mishap with my brand new work phone. I was handed a HTC radar c110 with Windows phone 7.5 to work with, but the phone had a little issue with calls and I decided to do a factory reset to see if it would sort it out.
So I searched on how to do a factory reset, and took a quick run to the bathroom before I could complete it. But my friend decided to finish it off for me, and somehow mispressed some button I guess, because a screen saying "Omega system loader menu" came up instead, with "FFU method" and 2 options, "MTPz" and "TFTP protocol". She took a blind guess at TFTP protocol, and when I came back the phone wouldn't turn on, it keeps resetting every few seconds and only says "TFTP protocol" on the bottom of the screen. Sometimes an image asking to connect the phone to the pc comes up.
I have tried the factory reset after this a couple of times, but when the phone restarts, this TFTP protocol image still comes up and the phone won't start. My guess is I have effed up the OS. What do I do now? Any guess? I don't want to go to my new job on monday and say that I screwed up the phone they gave me yesterday :S.
Any help is very appreciated. Thank you very much.
EDIT: I can get to USB host mode screen (white screen with "enter usb host mode"), and the white screen where you can "image crc" and "factory reset", not sure if it's called bootloader screen? I'm pretty sure I can get somewhere from one of these screens, but I'm not familiar with rom flashing and bootloaders at all.
EDIT2: I have been investigating further and I can now access the bootloader mode (the factory reset one), update mode (the omega system loader one) and usb host mode. I just need to figure out how to flash a rom (preferably an official one, as it's a company phone) into it now.
EDIT3: I got it fixed, not really sure how, but trying different things ended up booting the phone as normal. I am back to having the same problem as before though, but better than having a bricked phone I guess.
any idea what the solution ended up being?
I think reverting back to my original stock rom might be the answer for me, how did you do it?
I've just managed to do the same..
Any help as to how to sort out this issue? TFTP Protocol appears at the bottom of the screen with all the other symptoms referred above.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.

Some of you might have seen my earlier thread, my ReZound is rooted. HTC sent out the ICS update my phone attempted to install it and afterwards it would not advance past the white HTC screen. After many hours of playing around with it (being semi-noobish to all things rooting, but decently knowledable with technology) I realized that on the H-boot screen it was telling me that the Image was missing. I assumed that the HTC update deleted it? After thinking about it, I thought that maybe installing a custom ROM would fix this, so I grabbed Scotts Clean ROM. Sure enough I did and I was finally able to advance past the white HTC screen. It looks as if everything is working fine with the phone now EXCEPT I have no data and no calling connection. Im assuming that my phone is just that messed up from the attempted upgrade this morning that im missing files needed for the connection.
My next thought was to just say heck with it and do a factory reset hoping to get back to a bone stock phone that at least functioned, but when I try the factory reset it doesnt work....
Any ideas of what I should do next? Ive spent 5-6 hrs trying to fix this phone today, I really hope to get something figured out. Thank you everyone for your help!
EDIT: I feel like an idiot... Because of putting the battery in and out for resets I left the back off the phone. I now have service. Main issue now is that when I try to call out, as soon as I type a number on the dialer it freezes up and restarts itself....
The phone still tries to look for the old image on the restart and gives me issues every time on startup still also. Id like to be able to get this back to not needing a ROM....
If it were me, I would download the official RUU for ICS found here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/ IIRC, mirror #3 was the fastest. Then follow the directions from that site:
After downloading the file, rename it to "PH98IMG.zip" (no quotes)
Place the renamed file onto the root of the SD Card
Power down your device
Reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + Power
The flashing process should begin automatically
Let the device reboot, and you should be done.
That will get you up and running. Then you can go about rooting it again if you like.
I am a "noob" to android but have always gotten elbow deep into computers so i figured I would take a crack at it. Well it cracked me back and now I am stuck and help would be great....
I have an ascend II cricket phone, I rooted the phone using a guide foud on www, theunlockr, com and everthing was good. Iflashed a couple different roms and still no problems but I couldn't find one that had everthing I wanted so I decided to dig deeper.
I reflashed the phone back to stock with no problems and started changing little thing like sounds and the boot animation and then I went for broke and tried flashing a kernel that was supposed to enable multi-touch on the display - BRICK-!
I once again reflashed back to stock and installed the android updateds to bring my as current as the ascend to gets and re-did all my custom sounds and graphics.
This is where things go bad, I put everything back on the phone (battery, back plate, and hard plastic holster) and inadvertently put the holster on upside down so when I powered the phone on the two volume buttons where being held in by the holster and it once again started to re-flash the firmware, I didn't want to mess it up and yank the battery mid process so i let it run and it never came back .
At current the phone powers on but freezes at the oem boot logo. I have tried with no sucess to enter both fastboot and recovery, however I can still re-flash the firmware. When connected to my pc the computer recognizes that the device is plugged in only if I boot the phone while holding both volume buttons in with out an sd card inserted. This brings me to a blank pink screen. even though windows sees it there is no communication to the device.
I downloaded the stock firmware from several different source but they all produce the same result.
Also every 15 minutes or so the screen goes blank, vibrates and the boot logo comes back on, obviously the phone is trying to do something so I feel as though all is not lost, any advice or ideas as to what I can do from here would be greatly appreciated. (i tried to make sure I included all the details of my situation if there is anything else I or you need to know just ask.)
I'm new to xda-developer.com, eh.
I own a AT&T ZTE Radiant Z740 GoPhone.
First of all, I did not make any kind of back-up. I don't even have ClockworkMod installed or any kind custom recovery.. I factory-wiped it, cleared cache, and literally went though every option on recovery mode. Under one circumstance, I rooted it. It's completely stock with root on it.
This happened when I was cleaning my phone because memory was almost full and I literally ended up deleting a portion of OS itself... ( ./system files) I assume that made it corrupt and froze my phone which I had to pull battery out and back. The phone rebooted to a familiar AT&T logo screen then screen went black for brief moment. Then AT&T logo went back on. Then the phone itself automatically went recovery mode with a dark scene which revealed a dead green droid lying on invisible floor in the background with its chest 'door' open allowing me to see bluish subject in his body and the red triangle suspended in the mid-air.
I tried every option, desperately.
Trying to boot it in fastboot with VOLUME DOWN + POWER didn't work for me. Apply update from ADB doesn't let me do anything more than 'kill server', 'start server', 'adb sideload <file>'. Maybe there's more, but far as I know, most commands will respond with 'error : closed'.
I did enable USB debugging before the soft-brick, but factory-wipe might deleted that setting. That maybe... maybe.... just maybe... explain why I keep getting 'error : closed'. :crying: If this problem wasn't in front of me.. I probably would have restored my phone sooner.
Fastboot seems like my only remaining option to recovery of this phone. But I can't get in fastboot. 'adb reboot' command doesn't even work for me.
I'm waiting for the inevitable answer... that I'm screwed. Any help would deeply appreciated.
Picture of my phone in recovery mode is in the attachment. --- You can see, that I've desperately attempted to sideload stock ROMs for this phone and got a failed error.
bump
Does power + vol up bring you to download mode (black screen with boot loader on top) ?

Old post, but you are not screwed, the bootloader is still fine, just follow the instructions here http://androidforums.com/threads/zt...s-kernel-source-and-other.828110/#post6437794
and you are good. Once you are done unbricking, I would suggest you sell yours on amazon, they are worth about $80 USD and you can get a much better phone with that money
This is a totally stock XT1527 - never been connected to a computer, never been connected to the Internet. I did a factory reset from the Backup & Reset menu. Now when starting the phone it takes me into fastboot. Checking the logs I see "Failed to validate boot image". I scroll to recovery and it takes me back to fastboot and I see "failed to validate recovery image" in the logs. The bootloader is currently locked and I'd like to keep it that way if possible, because in this case I would like a totally stock phone. What is my best course of action from here? Unfortunately, the phone has been sitting in it's box for over a month since I bought it, so I doubt if I can exchange it for a new one from Amazon.
Edit: I've obtained a copy of "SURNIA_RETUS_5.0.2_LXI22.50-24.1_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip" which, if I understand correctly, I should be able to install without unlocking the bootloader. Does this file look correct for an XT1527 purchased from Amazon unlocked? I also notice one command in the installation process is "mfastboot oem config carrier vzw". This doesn't seem correct for my phone as it is GSM. Should I use this command, omit it, or replace vzw with something else?
Edit: Should I be worried about the hardware? As far as I can see there is absolutely no reason this should have happened. For the OS and Recovery to be wiped out during normal operation of a standard feature straight out of the box is pretty worrisome.
Update: This just keep getting stranger. After get thing error and rebooting the phone multiple times I decided to wait until later to do more work. I shut off the non-functional phone as well as an identical phone which did not have this problem. I put the phones in their original boxes and put them in my backpack. About seven hours later I take out the phones and they were both turned on and in the bootloader. I choose the start normally option and they both fully booted into the operating system. The phone which was previously reporting "failed to validate boot image" completely returned to the state it was in before I used the factory reset function. Can anyone explain what has happened here?
Okay so my phone randomly rebooted 2 days ago and when it got to the LG logo screen it froze. I tried to hard reset it, i went in to the hard reset menu clicked yes once then confirmed the hard reset by selecting yes a second time and the phone froze on highlighted yes. I have pulled the battery and tried to do this multiple times to no avail. So next i went to my PC and started google searches. Often i found things such as being stuck in boot loop which my phone wasn't, it was just frozen at the LG logo screen. Regardless I like to think of myself as self educated tech savvy (which now from reading all of your posts im not, im not even a little bit, in fact im tech stupid.) I did follow post through to the LGUP tool and downloaded a stock KDZ and got my phone into download mode>firmware update screen, i was able to get al the correct drivers and get LGUP to recognize the device and i loaded the stock KDZ and tried to do a Complete wipe reinstall. The program as able to interact with my device and went through the process, i thought i had fixed my phone. After a fresh install(or what i thought was a fresh install) i rebooted after the update and went to the LG logo screen and froze. The only difference is now when my phone starts, right before the LG logo appears i get the green android robot with what looks like open working "guts" real quick before it goes to the Logo and freezes. So back to the drawing board and i wanted to attempt some of the things ive seen like TWRP recovery etc but here i am getting lost. Forgive me if im posting things that have been answered but i keep getting confused. I dont know what the difference is between fastboot boot loader recovery mode or any of that is. also i kept noticing time and time again that my phone has to be in USB debugging mode and i dont know if it is. I cant turn my phone on to get it into USB debugging mode now anyways. Im okay with my warranty being voided and im okay with rooting if thats what i have to do to make it work. I have installed ADB and fastboot and some twrp recoveries etc but im clueless. Lastly know that i never Rooted my phone or anything but i was a torrent downloader. forgive me im triyng to provide as much information as possible.
PLEASE NOTE - I had to sign up to post here obviously and i loved how it said if you have an IOS go buy an android and come back LOL
