[Q] CM10 on locked bootloader - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi!
I'd like to know whether it is possible to make CM10 for locked bootloader as well ( like we have CM9 now ) in the future, when CM10 becomes stable? So we could install it with locked bootloaders too.
Thanks.

Possibly, but only after Sony releases jb official firmware for your device .
Fxp builds use fxp kernel, which requires unlocked BL to flash it.

The CM10 version which FXP will provide will never be for locked bootloaders, there will be ROMs based on FXP ROM for locked.

There are phones which unlocking bootloader status is: NO
Dont forget buddy.

I don't mean the FXP version, for example atis112 ported CM9 to locked bootloaders. Will this be possible with CM10 as well?
And bl unlock is NOT allowed on my phone, I'd have done it otherwise.

I don't think custom kernels can be flashed. But Custom ROMs for unlocked bootloaders like CM can be flashed with stock kernels if Kamarush succeeds in what he is trying to do (second init). I hope he succeeds:good:. Cause even I can't flash custom kernels because of bad blocks in my device's NAND flash

Locked vs. Unlocked bootloader?

I have been wondering what's the difference between locked and unlocked bootloaders? Is it about the capabilities that you are able to do with an unlocked bootloader or what is the thing between them?

Hi, its not related to phone performance, its related to flashing custom ROMs mate.
There are recoveries which you can use to flash custom ROMs on locked bootloader, but you will never taste ROMs like Cyanogen Mod, which is only for unlock bootloader.

With unlocked boot loader you can install custom kernel

Is there any way to install custom kernels on locked bootloaders? Mine XU's bootloader is locked (unlockable) and I'm running firedroid which is based on (if I remember correctly) FXP146 or 147, and those are based on cyanogenmod, right?

You cant bro, the only thing you can do is flash kernel for locked bootloader and install roms for locked bootloader.
So the only difference between locked and unlocked are the mods you can install (i.e. user interface)? So if I'm happy with my UI there's really no point in unlocking?

Stock kernels are set with limitations.. Whereas Custom Kernels dont have.
The problem is most custom kernels dont support 480p or 720p video recording like stock kernels.
I am having a NEO V with Stock Kernel and a Custom ROM (UHD 4.0) with Root privileges.
Depends upon the type of ROM u r using. Mobiles with 720P support give their best with Stock Kernels.
basically you will never see past ics (on a U) if you have a locked bootloader

There is no pure aosp Rom for our devices. But if you want you can try the cyanogen mod Roms which are based aosp with some modifications.

Nothing risky in unlocking bootloader...
Coz you can relock it easily
But I have read that if you lose the DRM keys your phone cant be repaired from sony in case sth happens

There's a way in which you patch you bootloader so it becomes unlocked and with that method you don't loose your DRM keys. It's the testpoint method. Search in the development section and you'll find it.
