[Q] Settings > Sound > Equalizer - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm looking to install Awesome beats or some other driver/equalizer combination that will improve sound in my BT Beats Headphones.
I was looking into this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983561 and threads like it, but one of the installation steps is to change the equalizer from MusicFX to insert_equalizer_mod_name_here, but it seems like my Jelly Beans B7 with Touchwiz Launcher doesn't have the select music equalizer option.
Thoughts? Anyone with a working equalizer that actually affects sound?
P.S. In the past, I have tried "Beats Audio installer" in the play store and it kinda works (i thought sound seemed a little better) but it doesn't come with an equalizer.
P.P.S. I have since clean wiped and reflashed ROMs since installing the Beats mod. I did however restore app + data with Titanium but not sure if the mod is still affecting my sound since, as i said, I haven't actually run the app after clean wiping and flashing Beans B7
THANKS!

Answered my Own question
So... apparently that setting doesn't show up until you have more than one equalizer installed.
FYI, I highly recommend Franken Beats... the mod runs GREAT on my Verizon GNII running Beantown's Jelly Beans ROM, build 7

Reduce Bass

Anyone know of an app like dsp manager that will allow bass reduction? I drive an s-10, and have a 1000w Rockford P2 subwoofer sitting behind me. Even With the bass turned all the way down on my radio, the bass still overpowers the treble. I ran a rom on my old droid that had dsp manager with a check box for bass reduction, but it won't work on my tbolt. Any ideas?

I can't tell but are you saying that setting in DSP Manager in CM7 for the TB doesn't work? or you just want that CM feature on another rom?

Is it possible to use the dsp manager from cm7? I thought the one I was installing was the right one, but I'm not sure

I'm just saying there is a version of CM done by Slayher for the TB.
And since it's CM, it includes DSPManager which seems to work.
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049542
As far as pulling that out and using in another rom, I'm not sure as I've never tried.
I would imagine there are other music players on the market that have equalizer settings like that you can use to reduce bass though, if you don't want to flash CM for whatever reason.
I've got it working with gb BAMF. I was just using the wrong apk (d'oh). For anyone else interested, this link will get you the cm7 dsp manager:

[Q] DSP Manager on ICS

I am running the latest CM9 by Jokersax (0.5.0). I noticed that the DSP manager is not working with music players (I've tried PowerAmp, Winamp, Double Twist, 3) other than the stock Music app. The the AROMA installer by Jokersax has the option of adding the MIUI music app but even that does not work with DSP. DSP worked nicely with all of the above music players on CM7.
I've seen similar issues being raised with CM9 rom on other devices too, but from what I've read it would appear that this is both device and rom specific issue.
Can anyone confirm that this happens on their CM9 build too? Anyone found a way to get DSP to work on non stock music app?
I also tried using the DSP Manager on CM9, but using Turl1's build. Didn't work, at all, tried a few different things for it, such as wiping, flashing the ROM again, switching through a few different ROMs and back to CM9. I eventually installed Volume+ and that worked just fine. I was more looking for something similar to the Beats Audio that I had installed a while back on CM7, since I don't really feel like messing with an equalizer/I'm too lazy to figure it out. With Beats Audio the sound from my phone through headphones and through my car were much better than with Volume+, as it seemed to balance out the audio. I would look into Volume+ if you want an equalizer for CM9, it's pretty comprehensive.

I can confirm that. DSP only works with stock music and google music.
Sent from my MB860 running Jokersax's CM9
Well, since it's not just me having this issue I sent a pm to Joker and he said he would look into it. As we know him, this can mean one thing only-he'll find a fix

[FIX] DSPManager v1.0 (ICS 4.0.3/SENSE 3.6+4.0)

There's been talk in a lot of different device forums about DSPManager having no function or constantly force closing. The discussion here will be for sense 3.6/4.0 and ICS 4.0.3
I started a thread HERE on how to get DSPManagers' various functions to work properly but my previous method did not work for sense 3.6 or sense 4.0. Any development or ideas are more than welcome in this thread. I have made progress to a certain point but my inexperience makes it hard for me to pinpoint the cause of certain issues such as the app force closing.
Update 5/6/12
-No app force close selecting any enhancement
-All enhancements function properly
-Only got DSP v1.0 working(not V2)...for now
WARNING - This process will disable all other HTC audio effects (beats, srs, etc.) Other market app equalizers and sound enhancement software also may conflict with DSP so keep that in mind.
Awesome work. Can't wait to install and test.
Tested on MeanROM ICS 0.9. Caused the Music app to not be able to play music (said that the files were not supported). Had to dirty flash ROM to fix.

I had that issue some time ago...for me it was a temporary problem with the music app, when I tracked ahead or went to Library>Song it played my music after that. I don't think that issue is directly related to the files flashed in this .zip

With me, every song I selected did not work. I went into my library and selected different songs and kept getting the file type not supported error (which I normally do not get and did not get after reflashing the ROM).
According to MikeyXDA, global Beats breaks DSP Manager, Volume +, etc.

Also, the other guy above (mozman) seems to be having the same issue I did:

Hope that helps your quest to fix DSP Manager. When I get a chance, I'll try to reflash the DSP Manager zip and do as you suggest.
I'm running cleanrom which doesn't have beats. I warned of other eq's hampering dsp's ability to function properly. I've seen beats work along side dsp but I would attempt to disable any beats audio stuff first then try dsp.

I don't know how to disable Beats (Mikey has not put out a way to disable Beats in his ROM). Thanks for the suggestion about CleanROM. I'm also thinking of trying ViperROM for the same reason. I can use DSP to make a better sound than Beats.

I'm running meanrom. I decided to switch over to it for the dual core tweaks. My zip worked great I listened to my car stereo tonight all the way home bumping. Try a clean install of meanrom then flash the zip and I doubt the same issue will happen.

I've confirmed what you have said about beats and dsp. You must've been talking about using headphones which indeed will cause that error of not playing a file. I use Bluetooth devices so I'm fortunate to not have that issue. Try going into Apps>All and disable Music Enhancer. See if that works.
EDIT - nevermind I didn't have my headphones powered on everything worked fine, you should just try to reflash the Rom then the zip.

I know I'm the only one replying, but I really want DSP to work with Beats like it does on GB. So, I installed MeanROM 1.0 then flashed the zip. Using headphones, press play on song and get the unsupported file error. Select HTC Enhancer, song plays, then select Beats and the song plays, but DSP changes do not make any change to the sound. The app loads and changes can be made, but the sound does not change tone at all. When I try to play the next song, I get the unsupported file type error again and have to go through the above steps.

Your wish is granted my friend. Aamikam released v1.0 of MikVirgin. He was the first dev that I know of to get beats over bluetooth. The changlog states he has working DSPv2 as well!! I'm downloading it now I suggest you try it.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654131
Anyone know if there has been any progress on getting DSP v2 for Sense 3.6 and 4 working?
thanks.. i'm going to try it..
DSPManager2
I experimented and come up with something that works for me. I have evo 3d s-off running viper 3d, it is sense 4.1
I just keep the sound enhancer on beats audio and do my EQ adjusting with DSP manager 2
You can try it and see. Just make a backup before flash!
DSP Manger
You may have to put sound enhancer on no effect for dsp manager2 to work on some roms.
Wow.
I really appreaciate this update. I didn't want to move out from CM by this.
Now I'm running ICS on Inspire4G using Trickdroid, this is the only component that was missing to be happy again!

Thank you! This works great on Mobster Rom HD, 3.6 Sense, but for some reason, I can't mess with the 10hz in the EQ. That happened on my OV as well in ICS.

DSP manager / CM9

Hi there.
How to manage DSP on Cianogen 9 ROM?
I tried DSP manager and Awesome Beats but they don't work...
Tks!!
DSP Manager works fine for me as long as I'm running CM9 kernel. If you use another kernel chances are it won't work unless it's supported on the kernel side. If you're using Siyah, don't expect CM9 DSP Manager to work anytime soon; Gokhan is too busy to get it working.
Edit - If you're using a music app with it's own EQ/plugins, you probably won't notice DSP Manager unless you have EQ set to flat & any settings which 'colour' the music off.
Further edit - With Beats, I doubt you'll notice DSP Manager no matter what you do given how ridiculously bassy they are.

try clearing data/cache of that app and see if it wrk's
Already done, no luck for me...
Just use fe. PowerAMP for music and/or Equalizer for overall eq...
Got them, but i can say the result will never be like using the DSP, dynamics and frequency range are so much limited...
Rubbish. Clean your ears out.
Poweramp's EQ & other settings you can use to colour music are much better than DSP Manager. And get some decent headphones as well, that might help
Dear, I've been using Poweramp and Equalizer for years.
1st there's no compression, and compression is mandatory to get something good off the worst yamaha this mobile integrates.
Then, all effect are not so deep like with DSP, it seems that DSP uses some hardware aids.
I use Bose in-ear, except for low frequencies they're not so bad...
Common sense says if you have a problem with CM9, you ask in the CM9 discussion thread. But if you want to sit in this thread & hope someone comes along & helps you with a problem that seems to be only happening for you, be my guest.

I asked before directly on Cyanogen forum, but no solution at the moment...

can yu please explain what yu meant by ''dsp using hardware aids '' ??
I mean hardware DSP...
I've tried many different dspmanager apks and libs and never managed to get any working apart from DSP Manager V1 which if I remember correctly was included in the release candidates of CM9. That still works if you take the apk from one of the RC builds and overwrite the one in CM9.1 and possibly other CM9 related ROMs.
A better solution though was to flash this instead - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709497
Even though this is for a different model of phone, it gives you the latest version of DSP Manager on CM9.1 on the SGSII and it works perfectly.
Give it a try but remember...do a backup first before flashing!

Anyone gotten DSP Equalizer to work on ARIA?

I have a stock, rooted aria rom. Tried to get DSP to work and it hangs a bootup. Any ARIA owners out there that can confirm it's working?? Specifically on stock ROM? This would be a nice addition to our froyo phones...
works on winsuk jellybean cm10
DSP works for me in every ROM's I used, but DSP doesn't impress me, try to install good music player for nice sound, like PowerAmp or PLayerPro
Dump DSP
DSP work on my Aria with cm7.2 but as stated above was very disappointing. I searched the low volume problem here and found an apk for Volume+. Once I loaded it I froze then deleted entirely DSP. The two conflict so you must get rid of DSP. I used Titanium Backup for this. Volume+ made a significant difference in over all sound.
