My phone is not restarting. I am using a Samsung Vibrant T959.
I really love the phone since it a gift from my sister and I hope i can fix it. It had no issues, with a stock 2.1 firmware, but last month I installed ICS on my phone after which I started receiving me errors.I guess the ICS version i installed was not very stable. Usually restarting the phone would fix the problems and I would be good to go. However last evening when I got the error I restarted the phone 2 times but I would still receive the errors. The 3rd time I restarted it, the phone got stuck on the animation screen and did not boot.
I tried the recovery mode and it worked fine.
I took a backup of my data using the USB debugging mode of the phone.
Since I was irritated with this version of ICS i tried to root my phone using Odin.
Odin failed. The phone was stuck on the downloading screen for some time so i disconnected the phone from my computer and now the phone will not start.
It does not boot, it does not go the recovery mode nor the download mode. when I press the power button or the three buttons (volumn and power) together the screen shows a mobile phone a computer and a disconnect between the three (Phone ! PC sign).
I do not know how to fix it. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I recently installed a gingerbread rom Lidroid. it was working ok till i realized i could not stand some bugs. I decided to try cyanogen that was released today. It looked like it installed fine but the phone is stuck trying to install clockwork recovey. it keeps going on and looping at the same screen. the last message it shows before it reboots off is "Replacing stock recovery with Clockworkmod" it just keeps looping doing the same thing. I have tried to get into download mode without success. I have been able to put my phone in download mode the past couple times i have run into trouble. Now i simply cant be able to do it. Any help?
I dont know how it happened but after trying for the past 5 hours, i have been able to get it to work. I took the battery out inserted it back in. I held the volume down button and the power button together. i immediately plugged the phone into USB cable while still holding Vol down and power button. After 10-15 seconds, it brought up the clockworkrecovery. I Wiped everything and the cache. I then tried to reinstall cyanogen(the one that brought all this in the first place) because it was the only one on my sd card. It installed and booted up and now i have CM 7. I can also successfully get into Download Mode
Am not sure what i did, but if anyone can run into such a problem you might try this.

Did you pull out the cable?
Did you pull out the battery? (Won't recommend it, wait till it dies then pull out)
If you did these things allready. Put the battery back, does it do anything? Or does it do anything when you try to recharge? If nothing (or only showing you the battery) you probably need a USB jig.
Hi,
I've got Lenovo s650, rooted with a custom rom (MIUI). All was perfect for weeks but few days ago it started randomly going off. Then I noticed that sometimes when I listen to music it crashes (making the music freeze and repeat same note for like 10secs) and shuts down. I thought it could be related to some apps but since I was very busy I didn't do anything about it.
Now today I noticed that my phone suddenly lost network coverage (in area where I always use it). I tried airplane mode on/off but didn't help, so I powered off and thought I will do hard reset when I get back home. However since then the phone is completely dead. Can't get into recovery, if I plug into USB nothing happens, if I take out the battery the red light turns and it goes to "META" mode for few secs (as it's intended to) but I can't download anything into it as I get some DRAM error in Upgrade /flash/ tool.
Funny thing that somehow I was trying all the combinations Volume up/down/both + power and at some point I randomly managed to turn it on so I was gonna make a backup of my stuff but it froze and shut down again. Now nothing works......
Any ideas what happened? :/
Some additional info:
I've got TWRP recovery (however I am unable to re-download it again via flashtool because of DRAM error).
I tried getting into adb but I am not sure if it's possible when the phone is off (tried volume button combinations with battery in and out but nothing).
Also when my phone is with battery and I put it into USB, pc recognizes it as "MTK USB Port", but it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 seconds. Tried to replace it with adb USB driver but didn't work.
Not having a phone I'll probably give a "Format all" option a shot in flash tool... either gonna brick it forever or fix it..
Edit1: Can't even format due to DRAM error....... :/
Edit2: This is so bizarre... I managed to connect my phone a couple of times in Mediatek preloader mode so the flash tool started flashing the rom, but stopped in a few mins unable to format something because it's protected.
I also managed to turn on the phone a couple of times and tried connecting via adb, but once I grant root permissions, adb shell on my pc cannot find device anymore.
It seems like either a hardware or kernel problem but I know nothing about either of them..
Edit3: I don't know how but I fixed it. Phone seems to be fine for now
Edit4: After 1 hour of working the phone died in exactly the same way.... And so this 6-week old phone will be going to rubbish bin. End of my blog.
Greetings,
My device is probably about three years old, I was totally satisfied until I noticed sudden change in my phone's performance about three months ago, way too laggy even after doing factory resets and etc.. , battery was being sucked faster than it supposed (even with a new battery), heating up whenever it decides to, not being able to handle hardcore-use which it could handle in the past... etc.
So, I took all that as a sign that my phone needs to be replaced. Last night while I was on my pc and the phone was sitting in front of me, I caught the phone restarting by it's own. I noticed this happening frequently over the past few months, and usually nothing wrong happens, although I had to remove the SD card once.
But this time its a whole different issue, the phone was stuck on "Samsung galaxy s III .. blah blah" , pressing the power button wouldn't turn off the phone and it would turn itself on the moment I put back the battery. I surfed the web for info and found topics that called this "stuck power button issue" and they suggested to smack the power button with battery or smack the phone itself (without holding any grudge against the phone ). I did that and it fixed the issue of the phone turning itself on.
At this point I found out the next issue, the OS won't boot & i would still be stuck at "Samsung galaxy s III ..." screen. So I tried to boot into CWM (Power+Home+Vol Up) but it would loop me back to the same screen 'till death >_>
Then I checked if I could enter download mode and it was a success, afterwards I downloaded a stock .md5 for my phone (and specified country), Loaded it to odin and tried to flash using that, and it failed on me ... check the pic below if you wanna see the error massages

FAIL !! I tried it twice, I can't think of what to do anymore ... Being able to access BBM (I got a habit of making notes there) & Contacts (I am not sure if superbackup was being a good boy and made backups everyday) would be nice .. But I don't think it's gonna happen ... All I really care about is being able to recover everything from my Internal storage, I don't care if the phone becomes unusable or whatever.. I just need the internal storage.
+ My phone is rooted, I have some nandroid backups and the Rom I was using was Android Revolution HD
Update 12/10
I messed around with the phone, and found out that I can still get in cwm, but I keep getting stuck with "can't mount cache/recovery/..." "can't open cache/recovery/..."error
Since the phone is three years old the battery could be the culprit. Try with your friends battery to see if the phone is booting properly. Still if your phone stucks in boot loop then repalce your power button.
I faced similar issue. My phone went into bootloop even when in recovery. It would reboot while OS installation is in progress. Weird. Rebooting while in recovery could damage the recovery itself and next time it wont even boot into recovery.

thank god someone replied, I thought nobody would respond so I gave up on xda .. anyways I just updated my post.
I am positive that the issue is not the battery, since it's new and i did try the older one and nothing changed. I still get stuck at the same screen x_X
Hi. So today, i was using my 1 year old phone when suddenly, the power/reboot screen appeared and my phone rebooted. It then started to loop every 2-3 seconds. I tried recovery mode but i coudn't hold the volume button long enough before it rebooted. I had USB debug and a bunch of other dev settings on allready and tried to use ABD but my PC didn't recognize my device. I then put the phone away for a while and turned it on. It worked. But then, it re-entered the loop and it worked again. It now is in a stable position, i recovered all my data. I suppose this may be a hardware problem but i don't know much. What do I do/how shall I fix it preferably without having to go to a repair center or something?
You can try to install stock rom but first adb must detect your phone. Make sure you install the adb/fastboot drivers and the USB drivers for your phone.
