Alright well I got my HTC HD2 a few weeks ago, and I was searching around Google and stumbled apon xda-developers.com I found a few cool things for my phone like CHT, and a few other apps...but I dont see the big picture here. What are ROMs? Are they operating systems? and what does everyone mean by "flashing a rom" or something like that. Haha im sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum. Could someone just enlighten me on this stuff, and maybe suggest some cool things I can do to my phone, or some apps i should get.
First off the search button is your friend ...
So I am going to give you a quick explanation and you can search and look in the various threads for your answers ....
A ROM is the the component of your phone where your Operating system and included apps are stored ...
The term ROM on this site refers to "Replacements" for the stock system that is installed on your phone, sometimes there are updated stock ROMs here too ..
There are certain things you need to know before considering flashing a ROM and you can find that info in various threads here ...
If you have a TMO US HD2 then you have to make sure the ROM is compatible, TMO US HD2 is a little different than the International one , more ram for one thing.
Now some ROMs have more things than a stock ROM some have less, it is all about personal choice when it comes down to that, some ROMS are more stable than others, some are faster, just depends ....
The Developers of these ROMs, or "Cooks or Chefs" as they like to be called, may do some serious customizing to their ROMs or leave them close to stock, again a personal choice for you ...
I would suggest you do some reading on Flashing, and about your hardware, the only problem with starting to flash your phone is, it is addictive ....

lol well Im mostly checking up on the Android stuff, or any ROMS. I only check the site when im not working or out with my friends

I remember days like that when I started, only coming here rarely. Now I check this site about 20 times a day, it's the first shortcut on my internet tab even. I am addicted for real...

Hahahahaha. You too? Yeah we got these like the week after they came out and a buddy of mine told me about this site and I've been hooked on it since. Then the GF gets mad when I'm looking stuff and chaning themes and stuff. She says that its stupid, but the second i offer to change the theme on her phone, it ain't stupid then

Now that you've mentioned it, my gf would be angry when i am with my 'gadget' cos this hd2 is like a swiss army knife for me. Using it for picts, vids, games, work, net..heck, this current hd2 doesnt even do calls. Only does my mobile broadband.
btw. there's no perfect rom.(before you ask this) The only perfect ones are the ones that you favour most.
GF is one thing, wife is another entirely.

Hi all,
I upgraded to 2.3.5 stock ROM from 2.3.4 stock one. I don't find the menu navigation to be smooth, I also feel that the sound quality has gone down not at par with 2.3.4 sound quality. Can other users give their feed backs, it might just be my illusion? Can somebody also guide me to get the default nexus S music player installed on my S2. I feel the native android music player always has neat output, I just want to compare it with Galaxy S2. Getting very naggy, anyways I would seek for one more help I recently got to know that my Galaxy S2 doesn't support adhoc wifi connection, doesn't even detect it. I got to know when I installed wifi manager it detects the network but fails to connect saying android doesn't support adhoc wifi network. Plz help I am able to do this with my Ipod touch, its let down I was very proud abt my device.

Hey man, I have been using 2.3.5 for about a day now. For me it's been pretty good. I'm using the stock kernel and all. Battery life has been decent overall, and colors seem to looker nicer. I like the update so far, granted its only been a day. The only tweek I did was use the Epic 4G Touch Twlauncher apk so I can easily change the default home screen. I do get quadrant scores of average about 3500. I'll update this with more feedback when I spend some more time with it.

Hey sorry friends I didn't mean to hurt to u all, this forum has always been so fast that I expected this to be quicker. Thats it, how can get upset I got s II coz folks here suggested me to. I am proud to be a part of this forum.
Enough !! I will destroy my GS2 if none of the experts here explain me why my CAMERA is being stooped suddenly and it says : ( CAMERA Failed)
this happen when i shot about 9-12 pictures !!! and then i shall restart my phone and use it again.
plz plz help me because Iam so angry from my phone !!!

Give us details like the ROM you're running, kernel, rooted, any particular third party camera apps installed, any mods applied etc. If you're fully stock then I'd suggest applying a custom recovery and flashing the same ROM version again (So you can keep your files/apps).
If you're being honest with your nick you'd be around 20 yrs old, correct ?
If that's the case, how about you quit acting like a ****ing 5 yr old in every single post you make ? If you act like an adult & post in an adult manner maybe you might be able to have some of the (seemingly numerous) issues you've had over the last few days solved.

Did you even bother searching?
There's at thread in the Original Android Development section with loads of stock ROMs and even a guide telling how to install them, and it's rarely off the first page there.

Hello, i just have a galaxy ace phone. I must say i am a complete noob in terms of smartphones and android thing.
So, i have some nasty lag on my galaxy ace phone. I know the cpu isn't big only 800mhz, but that one can't handle android ?
If you know something to help me get rid of the lag problems, it will be very nice.

The max. frequency my phone runs on is 480mhz, but lag is near zero though....you might want to root your phone and delete some bloatware...

Hi!
I'm looking for a smoother ROM than the one I'm using right now. This one is a ROM provided by T-Mobile. But it freezes up a few times a day (while browsing internet), the battery heats up most of the time and this freeze can degrade the batterycapacity by 70%.
Can anybody advice me on this?

Root, make a backup and try custom roms until you find what your looking for. Any major custom rom is probably better then T-mobile

Always nice to see people like you who are too arrogant to follow the rules and decide to make their own ones. However, they aren't quite welcome here because they are too lazy to do some research, like all of us (the fake mods, nice one, did you made that up all by yourself?) do.
If you're mad because of the plain, correct answers you have been given, maybe it's better to don't participate in this forum.
