Hey peeps
Ok I've been at this for two straight days now in order to try and unbrick this Telus Fascinate SGH-T959P
My buddy initially attempted to flash it with something and really messed it up to the point that even the battery wouldn't charge.
I don't even care if I get it to stock.. an amazing Rom/Kernel combo will also work.
So this is where I am today... and I have spent the last two days non-stop trying to fix this thing...I have been through sooo many forums posts and websites my brain is about to cook.
Software I am using
Odin v1.7 and v1.83.. I try to use the newest one.. just in case.
ADB / SDK installed and am able to push files across to the sdcard in my phone... everything seems good in that dept
Files that have got me to where I am today
T959TLJL3 Froyo original firmware (apparently)... but can not flash all of the files from the package ..zimage and a few others just fail to flash
s1_odin_20100512.pit file (Have atlas_v2.2.pit also but haven't had as much success with it)
SGH-T959-Stock_plus_voodoo_CwM_2.3.4v2
su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed
I can successfully boot the phone into download mode every single time using the volume up and down while plugging in the usb cable
Also if i just hit the power button I get a Telus 4G / Samsung splash screen and then the phone boots into CwM Voodoo Recovery v3.0.2.8x (Orange??)
In the CwM recovery mode, I can now finally mount all partitions and it looks like things will flash.
Now that I've finally got this phone to this point, I don't want to mess it up.
I want to make sure I have the right files to complete this little project.
Need some direction from the pros.. Am I able to flash a custom rom now ? And if so, what one is best to use.
From this point how can I revert to stock? Do I have the right files ? And how since Odin fails to flash the ones I have.
I figured going to stock first was easier, then use Kies to update it.
Show me the way
Thanks.

Wow... I got it .. Finally... After I figure out exactly what I used for files.. I will let you know.
All I can tell you right now is that I was flashing a single files at a time then powering down and coming back into download mode to flash the next file.
Right now the phone is all booted up and Running Android v2.3.3 (GB LKG2) and even tho the phone is actually a T959P.. the boot screen shows up as a T959D. Interesting.

No single file that I downloaded was able to flash the phone.
I ended up flashing individual files... and kinda had to mix and match, but was able to get the phone booting back into Android OS
However the phone was missing the EFS folder with IMEI info and such..
Still was not able to recover it 100%.
Message me with your email and I will try to send what I used.

I've been trying to unbrick an T959P as well, have it so i can also boot into CWM (from SGH-T959-Stock_plus_voodoo_CwM_2.3.4v2) but can never get it too boot into the OS. Tried several files to revert it back to stock but so far nothing has worked. Any hints would be appreciated, thanks in advance
To do it, get this file.
https://gofile.io/?c=tJd0Pd
Then get odin v1.85
https://gofile.io/?c=WHkZHO
Launch odin with admin powers (sudo/su for linux, or whatever).
Then click PDA and select the tar.md5 file and start.
Hopefully it soft bricked not hard bricked.

Soo....I kinda f*cked up my phone. I had Bi-Winning for a while and got bored of it, so I decided to flash another rom. I had it for about 2 hours and decided, I wanna flash another one! I went back in my history and this is terrible, but I cannot remember for the life of me which rom I used. It was either Simply Honey, Crazy 8, or MIUI. I honestly can't remember. Anyway, after that I used ROM Manager to flash Biffmod from my SD Card and after it did that, it went into a bootloop. So I tried to get back into Download mode, but it just kept going to the Vibrant screen. THEN, I tried to use Odin without being in Download mode and I didn't realize the TAR file wasn't completely downloaded, ran Odin and it made it even worse. Now every time I try to use the various methods of getting into Download mode, I come across the screen in the attached photo. It's a weird version of CWM Recovery, it says. v2.5.1.0 SOK ULFK. I cannot get passed this screen and into Download mode no matter what I do. HELP!
It also can't mount my SD card.
Saved me every time & I down load it to my HD.

If it doesn't work the first time don't panic, sometimes it takes me a couple of times to get it to work. If you still can't get into download mode I see a JIG in your future...

Same thing happened. The battery icon screen flashes and then it goes to this weird CWM. What the eff did I do to my phone?
Why not flash a froyo rom like bionix or project v from the recovery menu.
Another thing - When I try to use CWM to reboot into Download mode, the screen Galaxy S GT I9000 pops up and goes back to CWM. I have the Vibrant, and I'm pretty sure those are two somewhat different phones...Why is mine confused?

Well I assume I'd need to actually have the rom to be able to flash it. And when I try to install zip from SD it's unable to mount the SD card.
Someone please help me, I am getting extremely desperate here.
Generally the Galaxy S GT I9000 screen comes up if you have the Gingerbread bootloader flashed. GB Bootloaders don't use the 3 button combo for Download Mode, all you have to do is press and hold Volume Up + Power.
If that doesn't work try flashing a GB ROM. Sadly there's really no way to tell what file system the phone is using in CMW at least not in the version I have, if you can find out that would help a lot though. Since we don't know what file system it's using I'd recommend using a non-CM7/MIUI rom first. Download one of the non-CM7/MIUI GB roms. Plug the phone into your computer and in CMW go to Mounts and Storage and Mount USB Storage. You should then be able to copy the ROM onto your phone and flash it.
I had problem getting to download mode after flashing ported gt I9000 rom .hold down or up, power and home " button" (one puts in recovery the other in download can't remember which)

THANK YOUUUU!!! Oh my goodness. I JUST bought a jig with my gf's card and then I came back to this thread and saw this. Tried it, it worked. Now hopefully I can do the rest without a problem. Thank you again for getting me into download mode.
Word. Glad I could help. The important thing to remember is the Vibrant is a pretty robust phone. It's damn near impossible to brick it so bad you can't recover, so there's rarely any reason to panic. And hey, now you have a JIG on the way just in case you get into some real trouble down the line.

Actually I have one little problem, I am unable to get to CWM Recovery it says there is no update.zip/ "No such file or directory". I need to get going so I'll just leave it as stock 2.1 right now.
Also it's still starting up with the GT I9000 thingy and I just want it back to normal! Haha anyway. Thanks again.
Download the AIO Toolbox, use it to Odin back to stock (the appropriate PIT and PDA files are included with the install), root the phone (again using the AIO Toolbox) and then install ROM Manager and use it to flash CWM.

You seriously deserve some sort of medal. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out.
Hi guys, just new to these forums. I was forced to sign up due to my problems. just about 2 days ago i flashed these to my Galaxy Note Korean unit (SHV-E160S):
Tegrak-Kernel-Build-32-for-SHV-E160S-FA09.zip
Tegrak-Kernel-Build-32-for-SHV-E160S-FA09recovery.tar
i used Odin to flash the recovery file then booted into recovery mode to flash the kernel.. im sure i did right because i was able to use superuser and change my boot animation. unfortunately i found another update to the .tar and .zip file. i'm pretty sure its for my phone too so i went ahead and did the same thing. i kinda made a mistake in the process, i think i wiped the cache and all. dunno if i wiped partition but in the end i am only able to go to recovery & download mode. the Note will power up but won't get past the "Galaxy Note" screen. after that i will just be black. it's weird because it can still connect to Odin on my laptop although the screen is still black. is it a soft-brick? right now i'm trying to download an ICS stock rom and will try flashing it with Odin. i someone can help me please do. sorry by the way if this is a Korean Galaxy Note. this is the best category i could post since the AT&T and the SHV-E160S are the same in specs and all. hope someone could help me and spare me the pain from sending my unit for repair!
Sounds like a soft brick.. it seems you flashed perhaps the wrong file the last time otherwise it would be working like the last flash? ..I don't use odin often but I would restore my backup or just start over and use the last files to flash until you find something different
yeah i tried the others. i am able to flash the 1st recovery.tar but i cant seem to copy the .zip kernel because i dont have access to usb
about to flash stock ICS using Odin, hope this works! i just have one file which is a .tar file, hope this is the right file and don't brick!
OMG, i just pissed my pants *kidding*, the flashing of the stock ROM worked! and not onl that, i'm on ICS! all thanks to xda=developers forum for giving me the idea to flash a stock ROM! thanks guys! i'll never root my phone again i'd rather stay safe. thanks for the reply friend! ICS rocks!

Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to bother you with this, but I'm out of ideas...
I decided to root my i9100 using this guide9.
As I was doing this, the recovery rom would reboot when using the volume buttons to navigate (only on the first "page") - This was easily worked around by using the touchscreen, but now I'm wondering if this was the start of my issues...
I applied the SU busy box installer, and got root. I installed rom manager, and noticed that it seemed to lock up when doing certain things. I put this down to CWM saying there was no official mod for the i9100.
The next day I decided to try and install a CM10.1 nightly, so I took a backup, wiped cache and data, and applied the rom and gapps.
When I rebooted, the phone wouldn't finished booting, it just sat at the initial logo screen.
After that, I tried following this recovery guide but the odin flash failed at around 80% (I retried and the same happened again).
Since then I've had difficulty getting in to recovery mode. I've tried flashing various stock roms with odin, and trying to restore with Kies.
In Kies I get as far as it conencting to the phone in download mode, but it pops up a "notice" in a foreign language - presumably Korean (and I can't copy the text to even attempt a google translation).
I tried flashing Siyah-s2-v5.0.1 to get a different recovery - that seemed to have a garbled progress bar, before hanging when I tried to wipe /data again.
When I use odin to flash a stock rom - is it supposed to restore absolutely everything? I'm not sure how I'm still getting problems if this is the case. Any ideas on what to try next?
(The current stock rom I'm try ing to use is this one)
Let me know if I'm missing any info, and thanks in advance for any help.
Using rom manager would have been the start of your problems-not the temp cwm recovery in the rooting guide.
If you can boot into download mode then I would download LP7 stock rom, disable kies and flash that with Odin.
{go back to your iphone since you are an android noob}
Thanks for the reply.
Rom manager didn't work properly for me, so I stopped using it. I used the temp cwm recovery to install the CM nightly.
I can boot in to download mode, but I've already tried an LP7 rom, - as with the others, it doesn't boot.
Any ideas on how to tell why it isn't booting? logcat doesn't seem to want to to work. Not sure if it's broken / too early in the boot process / etc

I9100 right?
Try this:
- Download this ROM.
- Kies installed? uninstall it, re install it. Close it all up with Task manager (3 or 4 applications running).
- Flash ROM via Odin (CSC, MODEM, PHONE).
- If that doesn't fly, try another usb port & usb cable. Another PC would also be recommended.
- Repeat the process.
- Still no luck? try flashing a previous siyah version.
- No go? repeat all the above.
- Let us know how you did.

For some reason, I can't get Odin to flash that rom - it just hands for a while at the start of data.img, before saying "Complete(Write) operation failed."
There a .pit file in the archive, although the link says not to repartition (so I didn't).
Some roms seem to get written, some don't, I'm not sure why...

Odin failed about 80% through flashing (step 4, after taking the ICS steps). I tried flashing the kernel afterwards, which flashed, but didn't help with my boot issues.

Of course, I was just trying to get a better understanding of how things work - I'd settle for anything booting right now.
I was meaning how far did you go with his guide. He says (near the end) to flash a bootloader/kernel/rom.
You can try everything in his guide, but understand about the risks involved with pit and bootloaders.

He's right.
Keep trying, consider pit files & bootloaders as a last resort.
Tried everything?
Used another usb cable for the flash? tried in another PC? tried in a laptop?
Are you sure kies is all shut down?
I've read about so many people having the same issue than you, they keep on flashing as in trial & error and most times they come out winners.

I guess I'll keep at it then.
I'd tried another cable with kies shut down. Just tried a different machine, and flashed the ROM you suggested with heimdall. It flashed without complaining (unlike odin), but I'm still getting a boot loop.
Looking at the initial recovery guide I was following - I suspect that I might've flashed the bootloader (the guide shows in bold which file goes in which box, so I probably loaded them all). Maybe this is the source of my troubles...
I also noticed that heimdall can pull data from the phone too - if I can pull and mount these, am I likely to find any useful log files?
For completeness (and anyone else who finds themselves with the same issue): It seems I hit the EMMC brick bug, which rendered some of my EMMC storage unusable.
This helpful chap came up with a workaround to partition around the dead space. (Please read the post carefully and make sure this really is your problem before flashing!)
That method will let you know what part of your memory is corrupted. It's done via recovery as far as I remember.
Did you bring your device back to life?

Yes, that's right. IIRC, I flashed a working recovery with Odin, then did most of the work from adb shell.
I got my device back to life for the most part. I get the occasional hang but haven't investigated much (have since bought a Nexus 4, so not using the S2 so much).
Just thought I'd share for the next poor soul who has the same problem
Hey Everyone,
I woke up this morning to an Unauthorized Software message on my rooted Galaxy Note 2. I have been rooted for a long time now with no problems. I have not accepted any updates and have not made any recent changes to my device. I was using TWRP 2.6 and Jedi Rom when this message occurred. I tried flashing back to stock following the directions posted on the development forum but that doesn't seem to get the message to go away. I am not sure what else to do at this point to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

You weren't unlocked when you flashed, that's why the message popped up. Go check out Droidstyles guide and if you can't get the message to go away using it try flashing one of the restore to stock roms with NAND erase checked.

I followed Droidstyles guide and it didn't work. I also tried what you suggested with NAND erase checked and it did not work either. At a loss. I know my bootloader was unlocked. Something happened while I was sleeping last night that started this message.
Anyone else have any ideas?

There is no way you got that message unless you were locked. Therefore, you tried flashing something while having a locked bootloader. I recommend looking at stickies. You'll find something
It might not be from a locked bootloader.
I know for a fact that there's something deep in the firmware that can do this.
When I was playing around with mine I hade it do this a few times. And I promise my bootloader is unlocked.
Infact right now I'm running on t mobile with cleanrom ACE and a custom kernel.
one of the things I know for sure that will give you that message is trying to run the wrong modem.
Check an be sure you didn't get a bad radio flash or something.
Still having trouble

How would I know if I have a bad radio flash? I cant even get into the phone fully before it errors out and I have to power it down. I have tried several times to follow the directions on the forum and flash it back to stock. However, this does not seem to be working. I am certain my bootloader was unlocked. I have had the phone rooted for well over 6 months. Like I said, I went to bed and when I woke up in the morning it was showing this error message. The only thing that I have updated was super user app. But it doesn't make sense that it would be causing this. Especially now that I have flash back to stock. I cant attempt to re-root the phone either because that requires me to be able to get into the phone and turn on debugging mode.
This happened to me on my s3. I had to use odin and the unbrick files.
where did you find those guides, I have the same problem, lol cant find those guides and for some reason odin 3 wont inst on my pc...

ok so after 4 hrs got it to work.
here go to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264 down load alternate restore. Once it down loads the file extension ends with XZ, which Odin said was not a PDA file.
It has an odd file extension .xz (perhaps meant to be .gz) so I told 7zip to extract it. resulting file ended in .tar.md5. Put that file on odins PDA section. Boot up your phone with volume down, home and power button pressed to boot up in odin, once it boot up connect to pc and press the volume botton up to start odin download on the phone. the select start on odin soft ware on pc, should fix your phone.

If none of this makes sense, pm me and we can go via skype and ill guide you or attempt to fix your phone.

I am not having problems getting the install to work. My problem is that the install isn't removing the unauthorized software message I am getting.

You are doing something wrong, either way this process is to revert your phone back to stock, from there you can root again. Theres no other way about it and is the only way I got my phone off that.
boot phone pressing vol key down, home and power.
connect to pc,
press vol key up
start odin
secondary file on pda
inst
phone back to stock.
If it doesnt work, I might have to see what you are doing via skype
secondary file ... http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390225151984927096 this one was the one that worked for me and many others.

I also did something with oding that caused a failed that made my phone go from that screen to update fail message, maybe we can try that rout and then do the restore as a last thing.
