Use Betterbattery stats or Gsam Battery Monitor to see what is using the battery or keeping the phone awake.
With out more information people will just be guessing
No its not just you.Theres been several threads about this since its release.
You can revert back to 4.0.3 which will cure that problem.
No need to search,or post in the LS8 thread,or muck around with BBS etc.
"noob ok...lazy noob not ok"
Well, who knows? Maybe search first, because this topic has been discussed way too many times by now.

so....
so what you are saying is that, this is a REAL ISSUE and that samsung must release a fix for this, right???
is this a real posibility , like would Samsung ever consider to realease a FIX for this, did they ever do it in the past in a similar case?
or maybe if were lucky in a year or 2 they will, by then...
No it means some people are having worse battery life then on ICS but I have better batter life than on ICS if you read the other threads about the same topic over the last few days you might see something that helps you improve the battery life. Or install battery stats and see what is using the battery
we...?
Should i Flash back to ICS 4.0.3 with ODIN???
what are your opinions?

Hello and please let me give my personal experience.
I think it is a matter of modem.
It depends on country/carrier.
I had the same problem exactly, I flashed a XXLQ6 modem [even though it is for 4.0.4 firmware - I don't know if I did something dangerous for my phone, I am a newbie], signal is much better and battery lasts longer.
3G - H - H+ : smooth and stable internet browsing with the new modem.
My country is Greece . Carrier is COSMOTE. Stock Samsung XXLS8 firmware. PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel v4.00-b39 from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
I hope I was helpful with my 1st post here.
Yes the modem is one of the possible problems you can have and flashing a modem that works better for your area is the best option if the stock one does not work well as you have done.
The OP says nothing is using his battery but yet the battery goes flat so it is not possible to help with that as something is draining the battery else it would not go flat unless the battery is faulty but then it would not last for any ROM.
I use XXLQ6 modem as well
Congrats on the 1st post...
just turn off Google Now and Google localization. it should increase your battery life.
I had drain went to millitant rom, now my battery is better then ics

Hi guys! I am new here, and glad to be a part of this big community.
Recently i bought a new Samsung Galaxy S III. The phone was running stock ICS 4.0.4.
Because i am really stupid, and like to make all my gadgets "better", i installed Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Polonia, from Sammobile.
The problem is... THE BATTERY, IT'S HORRIBLE! 3-5% over night discharge, with 30% light, no Wi-Fi, no Sync, only H+.
In a little game, like Doodle Jump, Jetpack Joyride or Jumping Slime, 15 minutes of gameplay and 3-4% battery is gone.
I have the Clockworkmod recovery installed, and i did a full charge and wipe battery stats... the battery got better, but no like on ICS.
What should i do... i would like to install ICS back, but i see that it's kind of laggy, and doesn't got manny features.
I don't like to install a Custom ROM, like Ressurection Remix, AOKP and stuff like that...
Furthermore, on the curent Jelly Bean i was had installed Siyah Kernel and i undervolted my CPU with -50mV, and still no improvement.
What should i do? Back to ICS? The battery life was great in games/aplications...
Thx for any reply!
Cheers!
no, no, no, no, NO!! Best rom threads arent allowed and are not looked upon lightly! Roms are entirely based on personal preference....flash a few and see which ones offer the best battery life FOR YOU!! And its not unusual for games and mobile data to use battery. Its inevitable really dude....

No... the thing is, i want a RECOMMANDATION, for the best stock ROM. On this forum there are many Galaxy S III users... what is the best ROM for their devices?
For me, the best ROM, was ICS 4.0.4, and i hadn't got any major battery drain like this. But i want to hear some opinions on this subject.
And no more useless reflashing... i am afraid that my NAND will be corupt. I flashed my phone like 5 times in a week, trying to establish the best ROM.

install the app better battery stats, and charge your phone up then leave it to idle for a couple of hours then report back with screen shots of kernel wakelock, and partial wakelock
Apart from that Google now causes some extra drain due to using location services.check what you are syncing (I suggest getting rid of the whole Samsung account/backup set up and disabling Google back up
3-5% isn't really that bad, neither is 3-4 % in 15 minutes of gameplay, considering normal screen on drain is approx 10%/hour

You said it yourself "trying to establish the best rom" their is no best rom....what gives you huge performance in terms of battery might suck for someone else....every device is different. And if you flashed your device 5 times in a week then my nand must be screwed because ive tried every galaxy S3 rom. It takes more than you think to damage your nand dude

Ok... i will install ICS back.
The JB battery really sucks. Only 5 minute call and checking some emails and 7% gone.
I think the battery is exactly the same..i was getting 6hrs screen on time on 4.0.4 and im still getting 6 hrs on dlib and its much faster

InsertCoin is best.
It haves stock (stable) kernel, full debloat (~100 mb more ram), alot of optional user tweaks, and many behind the scenes mods for maximum smoothness and perfomance
If only people could understand that what's best for Person A, might not suit Person B at all. It's a matter of one's own preference and it's imperative to try roms out yourself.
sigh.... I'm just going to paste my response from one of the many other best rom threads
These best rom threads are getting out of hand...
What's the best rom for me might be the worst for you.. It's subjective.
It's like asking who's the hottest girl in the world, or which sports car is the nicest.. It all depends on the person being asked and if you ask in a forum you will be a different answer from everyone.
The only way to find out the best rom for YOU is to try them all until you find the one that's "best" for you and your needs..

So, I've flashed root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1 and I have the OTA update I747UCALH9_OTA. Wasn't there a later update? What was the latest stable ICS version released before JB?

Did you do a factory reset after your JB upgrade? The battery life only very slightly worse than ICS. An app is probably eating up your battery.

D'oh! Thanks for the heads up, clicked the wrong link obviously.
Hey.
I'm not sure what has caused this but lately my S2 overheats when I enable WiFi or 3g. It gets very hot, like super hot.
I'm not sure how to check the exact temperature but if somebody can tell me how to I can get back to you on it.
This leads to the battery draining insanely fast.
Just there I was charging my phone in safe mode and it was at 100%.
I reset the phone to get it into normal mode and it went from 100% to 33%.
Over the course of the next hour it went down to 4% and I wasn't even using it.
What could be wrong with it?
I'm using Cyanogen Mod 9 or 10 I think if that helps.
Try to flash another rom

It was a good while ago so I can't really remember, pretty sure its Cyanogen 9.
If I was to go to another ROM what one should I do?
I was just going to go onto Jellybean but I don't know if I should wait for the official release
I'm using JellyBam with Siyah kernel and it's great! Best ROM I've ever seen on my SGS2
- experience7
Is JellyBam basically Jellybean then? What does it miss from the official release
U have to flash another ROM and kernel, this happens on stock ROM, even when you talk more than 5-10 min . Also might be a modem problem, U can change it from a whole list from here http://veyka.co.uk/sgs2/radios/ ... there are winners or losers out there !
Okay I'm going to go out on a limb and just start over with the phone.
Could somebody tell me the best ROM for JellyBean? Also a good recommended modem because I have read that is what causes the overheating issues?
Hello
I updated my Galaxy S2 via Odin(PC) from Stock 4.0.4 to Stock 4.1.2. All went fine, phone works smooth and fast. But there was a massive battery drain. Therefore i wiped data/cache, did a factory reset, everything is new an fresh. Phone still works smooth and fast but battery drain doesn't change. Take a look at the screenshot. Is there something i can check and change?
Thanx in advance.
Greetings
Nicolas
Chill let the rom settle for a while, the battery is usually weird after a flash use it for a few cycles and then it should be alright

Thanx for your reply. But i cannot confirm that. Never had such a behavior. Flashed a few ICS 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 Roms and either thery're draining or not unless i'm able to change or fix somthing. It never improves on its own. Maybe it's my bad luck only.
Do we really need another "battery drain/problem" thread?

Yes, you are right. But i read a lot about battery drain problem in the dev thread and also tried a few, ok not all, things to fix it. Until nothing works for me i wanted to upload my battery stats but wasn't allowed to because i'm a noob. Therefore i opened up a new threat to upload my screenshot and hope someone has the right advice for me or just simply says "bad luck my friend. This Roms seems not to work for you".
And sorry again if i don't behave the right way.

Yes i will.
But, generally, flashing different Roms causes different issues. Reading solutions based on different ROMs, Custom ROMs, etc. isn't very helpful. There may be general solutions for this damn battery draining problem. But until now nothing fits to me.
In the end i hope to find a solution or i will go back to ics.
Have a nice day

Your absolutly right, i read many problems, but with those stats are weird.
1) Just try to re-flash the ROM and after go to recovery and clear everything(dalvik, data etc).
2) Use the option to reboot.
3) Turn off phone -> remove the battery -> Try to turn the phone ON without battery one or 2 times -> wait 2-5minutes more without doing nothing -> Battery back in.
4) Charge up to 100% (when the icon appears).
5) Wait for 1-3 cycles and check if its ok.
6) If you have media draining check my signature link.
Issue solved, probably
I probably solved my battery drain issue while doing what CrisR82 suggested in his post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37227296&postcount=10017
" Battery drain is caused by a permanent wake-lock (I had that issue).
For everyone with that problem, here's what I did and got rid of it:
1 - fully drain your battery (0%, to the point where it won't power-on at all)
2 - recharge your battery without turning on the phone
3 - go to recovery mode and wipe both data and cache
NOTE: backup all your contacts, messages, whatever...this will delete everything!
(I formatted my USB storage aswell before step 1, but I think that's not necessary)
No wake-lock for me, 17 hours use, 12% battery down (only checking the clock every once in a while)."
As it seems it worked for me also. Did it yesterday evening and keep in mind i did a factory reset therefore i had to reinstall everything. Battery is behaving normally again.
Maybe this helps the one or the other.
Greetings
Nicolas
Now, right solution
Ok, my mistake!
At first it seems that there is an improvment in battery life like i said in the above post. There is ... but slightly. Not enough, not acceptable at all.
To make it short.
I did a clean install. That's it. Wiped everthing, pumped the battery up to 100% and flashed Samsung Stock jb 4.1.2 again. And it works now.
Thanks all for your advice.

My battery drained in 21 hours even after reinstalled everything after a full wipe. Couldn't find out what process caused the drain. Used bbs and its stats say android os, screen and Android in sleepmode is using most of the battery.
I'm back on 4.0.4 now. Waiting for next jb version.

Thought I should share that I tried the same and face the same issue. Before JB, on completely stock 4.0.4 (no root), I would charge after three full days (72 hrs). Moderate/normal use - no heavy gaming. Under JB it drained in less than 24 hrs with very moderate use - mostly idle. Back on ICS i now get the same battery time as before.
I should add that my phone came new with ICS 4.0.4 installed. Two friends of mine have upgraded theirs all the way from GB -> ICS -> JB and they exeperience significant battery improvement. Being a noob, I don't understand whether this makes any difference. Simply coincidence?
All the best.

New ROMs are always smoother than previous ones, once you flash em you get in cant-put-it-down mode. You need at least 1 week to judge battery life on any ROM. A couple of days to set it up and a few days to see how it behaves.
Once you get things going you never go back, that's a fact.
Be careful on 4.0.4.

Hi
I updated my galaxy s2 to the new official jelly bean xxls8, I like it so much, but after a days using it I noticed some problems
The phone get very hot in the camera side and it consumed a lot of battery, really its get very hot,
I didn´t have that problems with ice cream sandwich
What can I do
flashing back to ics is an option. Another could be moving to another rom probably a custom 4.1.2 rom like cm10.1 or cm10 not sure if 10.1 is on the s2 atm. Honestly It may be the cold temps but i haven't noticed the heat up. The battery drain however is horrid.

Hello,
Battery draining issue is from official jelly bean xxls8 rom, and developers are trying hard to sort out this issue.
Check this out. Index of roms. read some threads, they have all the feature list and issues describe.
Try to search before creating new threads.
